Ana was confused. Yes, it had been a month since she had been promoted. Yes she no longer has to deal with Tasha and her other nosy as fuck coworkers.
But she was still stressed out. Ana didn't understand why. Everything was fine. Her mother hadn't done anything unusual of late. And Landon was so busy she hadn't seen him.
Ana found herself getting more tired than usual. She was quite an active person, so this fatigue was something strange. Added to this, she had been puking her guts out for a few days.
Ana kind of already suspected what was wrong with her. But she was really reluctant to find out. As they said, ignorance is bliss sometimes.
She shivered and pressed her feet into the soft carpet. She started googling her symptoms. The results told her different stuff. But she didn't want to confirm anything so she kept her phone away from her so as not to go crazy with the searching.
A few moments later, Landon was home. He had surely used the spare key to get in and when he got in, he found Ana laying on the couch.
He frowned and sent a silent prayer to whenever was leading the universe that she was okay.
Landon didn't want to wake Ana up. So he did then next bllest thing. He watched her sleep, occasionally looking at something on his phone.
"Landon?" Ana whispered softly after a while.
"Mel, are you better?" Landon asked her, sitting at the edge of the bed she was laying down
"Yeah. I don't know why and what is happening to me?" Ana admitted from her position on the couch.
"Do you know what's wrong?" he asked, searching her face for an answer.
"I have my little idea." Ana and Landon were silent after this. Ana thinking about the repercussions of her condition. And Landon asking himself what exactly she had.
A few days later, Ana found herself at the supermarket buying her groceries. After she had bought everything on the list, she strayed to the maternity section.
There, next to diapers and little onesies see the dreaded test. Ana stared at the tests for a little while more, asking herself whether she really was ready to have such a thought in her mind.
Was she ready for this stress of knowing that she had another human being to take care of? And that she didn't even know anything about the baby daddy?
See sighed then after a bit of reflection, took about five and put them in the cart. She wheeled it to the register and waited for the people in front of her to check out.
Her heart was in her stomach already. She didn't quite know how she was going to react if the tests turn out positive. All she hoped was she wasn't going to just have a heart attack.
And her mother–
Ana shook her head and cleared them from all the thoughts. She hadn't even taken the tests yet so there was no need to stress yet. They could still turn out to be negative. Though deep down, she knew they were nothing other than positive.
It was finally her turn to checkout. She didn't even bat an eyelash when the cashier looked at her weirdly after seeing the tests. It was none of the man's problem who she fucked and when she did it.
It was almost like the checking out was extra slow that day because Ana felt like she had spent five hours at the register. When she washing her bagged stuff, she let out a huge sigh of relief. Finally, she was going to be put out of her misery.
She walked to her car and got in after securing the bag. Her eyes were on the road. But her thoughts were literally so divided. It was even a wonder she hadn't gotten into an accident or even knocked someone down.
Ana's thoughts were consumed. It was literally the only thing she was thinking about. She kept on thinking of what her mother's reaction would be. And then Landon. Especially when both discovered that she didn't even know the father of the baby.
But, actually, why did she keep saying the father of the baby? What if she wasn't even pregnant? And all that was nothing but a mild cold with added symptoms? It was winter anyways.
With that thought in her mind, she reached home and got out of the car. She took the grocery bag to the kitchen and started unloading it.
Ana took her sweet time, making sure she packed everything wherever it was supposed to be. She was stalling. She knew. But she didn't care. Anything for self preservation.
Finally, she was done. There was nothing else she could say she wanted to do to waste time. The tests were sitting on the sink. And everything else in the house was where it was supposed to be. So the only thing Ana needed to do at this moment was take the tests.
Ana stared at them for a while. Then she gathered her courage and picked all five of them up. Then got into the bathroom. She muttered a small prayer, then kept them in the sink.
Ana rested her hands against the sink, closed her eyes, bent her head and took in a deep breath, trying to ready herself mentally, even though she was sure it would never happen again.
After a few seconds of meditation, she removed her panties. She opened all the tests and placed them on a straight line, then so mechanically took the first one, peed on it and so on.
After drinking some water so she could pee, Ana was done with the tests. Most of them said to wait 3-5 minutes. But Ana was even reluctant to check their result. So she waited a whole ten minutes before bothering to get back into the bathroom.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror for a few seconds then turned each of the tests to the side which told her the result.
Four were positive. One negative. There was no doubt in Ana's head. She was pregnant.
She didn't want to to wrap her head around this. Actually she couldn't wrap her head around it. So what she did was she threw all of the tests into the dustbin, then walked to her bedroom and climbed on the bed.
She closed her eyes and willed sleep to come so that she could at least escape this world for a few moments.
Jack was tapping his pen on the desk. It had been a month. And he still couldn't get the girl out of his head. He had been drunk when they had sex. But he remembered her face clearly. He could remember her beautiful brown eyes and how they sh
It had been two days since Ana had discovered that she was carrying another life in her. She had freaked out after her calm episode. It had actually occured to her that she was pregnant when she was in bed that same night. She had cried and s
The next day was way better. There was no longer that pressure on Ana. She had told Landon, and that was what was most important. He was the only constant in her life and he was the most important person till date. Ana was yet to tell Veronica, her mother. But if she was being honest, she really didn’t want to do that. Veronica was an extreme Christian and she was probably going to get into some kind of fit and maybe call Ana a demon. And the last thing the latter needed was stress so she would pass on that. The day was looking to be a bright one. Ana really couldn’t ex
If there was one word that you could use to qualify Jack in that instant, it was stressed out. It was a first for him. Jack was an extremely confident man. He had built his confidence right from childhood and it was basically unshakable. But as soon as the detective had called him to say he had news of the girl, it was as if all that confidence had left Jack’s body. It was weird. And it might sound dumb that he was searching for someone whose face he didn’t even remember clearly. But Jack couldn’t explain it. Even though he was drunk and most of the memories from that n
So it was today. Not the interview. Today was the day Ana went to hospital to confirm the pregnancy. It was honestly just a formality at this point because with all the changes her body had gone through, and the tests she had taken, it was obvious that there was another life growing in her. But it was better to be one hundred percent sure. Plus, she had to listen to the doctor’s advice. No matter how helpful the Internet was, it was never completely accurate, it was not a professional and it was not going to ease all the irrational fears she was having.
There was no noise in the room. It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The only things that ruined the awkward silence were the breaths the two people present in the room let out. They looked at each other occasionally, both wondering where the doctor who had promised not to take long had gone to.
It was another day spent with Jack obsessing over that girl. He had been going through some documents, but after a while, his concentration had dropped. The more time went on, it’s like his mind unlocked memories of that day that he had not realized existed. He put down the Gil in his hand and as he was about to take a sip of the coffee Lucy had made him, she burst into his office. No knocking or anything. And there was a big smile on her face. She had something in her hand but Jack paid no attention to it.
After the whole episode of him throwing his file on the floor and even possibly damaging them, Jack had gotten a hold of himself. He was not going to act this way, like a starving puppy because of this girl. No.Jack almost wished he co
