Chapter 2: I Am So Naive

I ran into the house as dad saw my tear-streamed face I run up the stairs bawling my eyes out. I slam my door shut and get on my bed grabbing my pillow crying out all the hurt and despair, I saw one of my best friends sleeping with my boyfriend and the look on Jackson's face means It's been going on longer than just that one time. My pillow becomes wet with tears as I stare at the photo of Jake and me kissing, I knock it off the side table as it smashes on the ground glass shattering on the floor.
My dad opens the door hurriedly looking around the room as if seeing if someone has broken in but only to see my curled-up form
"Roselle.." He says coming close to the bed as he sees the photo and glass on the ground.
"Little Star what happened?" He asked, I sniffle wiping my eyes
"He cheated on me with Victoria...I saw it with my own eyes in his bed" I replied, he sits beside me as he hugs me
"Shh, it's okay..." He says quietly as I just cry in his arms he just held me as I wept over that loser, that cheating scumbag.
After he left the room to give me the space I needed I called Janelle "Hey Rosey how are you?"Janelle asks with a happy tune to her voice
I sniffle "Rosey...what happened?" She questions concern lacing in her voice, I huddle my legs close to my chest
"Janelle the rumors were true he cheated on me..." I said trying to keep myself together
"With who?" She questions flabbergasted
I pause as I blow my nose into the tissue "Our so-called best friend Victoria" I said
"Victoria could never do that Roselle.." She said in confusion
"I saw them having sex does that count?" I exclaim in annoyance
She gasps "Okay Richelle and I are coming over with Ben and Jerry ice cream and Wrong turn" she hangs up, seems I have no choice in the matter.
"Jesus this is graphic but I do need to watch a bit of violence," I say scooping some of my ice cream, as Richelle and Janelle plat both sides of my hair
"Oh, he scalped him.." Richelle says looking like she is gonna pass out
"Don't pass out we haven't gotten to the best part" Janelle excitedly says we both look at her
"You've already watched it?" we questioned
She laughs innocently "Maybe...Okay I did"
"And she confesses, she's guilty" Richelle replied yelling it out as we all laugh watching the movie
"Thank you guys I needed this but I still want to swallow up in a hole and die everyone is going to know tomorrow," I said
"Roselle it will be old news in a week just it's going to take a while to get past this but I know you can" Richelle replied while hugging me.
One week later It has still been the talk of the school "You still going to say it's old news?" I ask Richelle, as everyone looks at me whispers surrounding me everywhere
'Oh my god I can't believe he cheated on her'
'Well look at her Victoria would be better under a dress'
'She is a slut who does that to their best friend'
"They're not hating on you," Janelle says
"No, but some of their comments hurt, them comparing me to her, I just don't want to hear it I'm going to the library" I replied
"Will come with," They say in sync
"Alone..." I give a one-worded response as I go towards the library walking hugging my books to my chest.
I run my finger along the binders sighing as I stop on one book getting it out my eyes meet a set of hazel ones on the other side of the bookcase, I clear my throat as I keep walking reading the blurb on the back.
"You chose quite a violent book" I hear a deep voice from behind me.
I replied "Yeah well it doesn't hurt to read a bit of violence," I say as my eyes trailed up along his masculine torso.
"Have I seen you before?" I asked
He smiles "I'm on the college campus," He replied
"My name is Roselle..." I introduce myself
He puts his Shakespeare book on the table "Jace It's nice to meet you.." he replied shaking my hand sparks shooting up my arms.
"So you're a romantic?" I ask
He shakes his head as if getting out of a trance "What?" He questions coming back to earth
I gesture to the book Romeo and Juliet "I didn't picture that" I replied
He snickers "Well haven't you heard don't judge a book by its cover," He says with a teasing smile
I manage a small laugh, the school bell rings "That's my queue" I say a smile planted on my face.
"Uh it was nice to meet you I'll see you around Roselle..." He said as I walkout
'Wow, what a specimen' I thought, I bump into Victoria her not knowing what to say as I saw Jake standing beside her.
"Roselle, can we talk?" Jake said, he looked like he hadn't slept nor did Victoria serves them right.
"Talking was over when you were fucking Victoria in your bed" I snarl my happy mood plummeted.
"Look can we please start over all of us..." He pleads
'Oh god he looks pathetic', "No" I state turning around he grabs my arm roughly as an audience fills the halls.
"Let me go!" I exclaim, then the next thing I see is him falling back him holding his nose that's bleeding.
"Did you hear the lady she said no" I hear a deep masculine voice I look up to see Jace as he stands there towering over the weasel on the ground.
