Christopher

Willow asked me the most disturbing question through the mind link, and it bothered me.

She asked if I could see anyone who looked unusual on the table. The problem was I wasn't enhanced like her. If she asked that question, I knew something was definitely wrong with someone at the table. There was no way she asked that question for fun.

"Did you see anything serious?" I asked her through the mind link, and she smiled at me.

"Yes," She linked me back, and I was worried, remembering how King Lucien explained the process of corruption.

Although the man did not know what was happening, he had explained the process of the corruption to me without knowing, which was why Apate was glad that we caught Rachel.

Since we caught Rachel, I have felt a dark cloud over me; and I have been angry that the universe would take my wife from me and I would have to live alone for the rest of my life without Willow in it.

No matter how I tried to see the bigger picture, I was sad because

Christopher King Edward looked in the direction of where the protesting voice came from and was a bit angry. "I agree," Another man said, standing up. "We get you are fond of Alpha Christopher, but naming his wife your heir so you can make him King is wrong, Your Majesty," he said, and everyone began to complain. I wondered if Apate was ruling their hearts. Though afraid of the King, they still found the nerve to speak out. "Enough!" King Edward said, sounding livid, but he was actually happy. I could feel King Aaron's giddiness. He just wanted to shut them up. "What nonsense is this?" he asked. "We do not want you to be angry, your majesty. We just want you to explain how Willow Walker is related to you and why we should allow her to succeed you when you're gone," a bear elder asked the King respectfully. Edward looked at his daughter and then looked at them. "I was fated to a werewolf by the name Leah Brooks, Alpha Devin Brook's sister, and before I exiled her, she was pregna

Willow Aaron had his head stuck far up his arse that he had forgotten his position. It was best I put him in his place. His eyes did not have black veins at the corners, but I doubted if corruption from Apate was necessary to turn him. He was already made up of everything that had to do with corruption. I was tired after the dinner party, and the moment my body hit the mattress, I fell asleep. I spent the next day with my father and the elders. They walked Christopher and me through the administrative process, and I found it tedious. The fact that I knew I won't be around for it broke my heart immensely, and I did not know what to do. Telling my father might kill the fight in him, and that was the last thing I wanted to do. I needed him to keep pushing for the sake of the people in our world. We had dinner in the night, and Christopher and I retired early so we could spend time together. Most of the Alphas of various packs had arrived in the Lycan kingdom, so it was definite

  • Once In The Dust   67 A Fearful Agreement

Christopher The alphas were worried, and I could see fear written on their faces. While the werewolf alphas were a bit composed, the bears did not fare well. I saw Miles' face, and he looked like he had seen a ghost. Honestly, I would have been the same if Willow hadn't eased me into it gradually. But I was too close to the action to be taken by surprise. "Do you have any questions?" I asked them, knowing Willow wasn't in the mood for a question-and-answer session. They were silent for a bit, and several raised their hands. I chose a bear alpha to start. "How do you have this information, your Highness, and how accurate is your source?" He asked, and Willow laughed. "Have you fought those things?" she asked, and he was silent. "Well, we did. Three times. They can't be killed unless you sever their heads from their bodies. In the last attack, we were able to capture one, who was a former member of our pack. She had not deflected for up to twenty-four hours when they sent her

  • Once In The Dust   68 Aaron Speaks

Willow I was surprised at Aaron's continence. He was the last person I expected to come around or seem like he came around, whichever the case may be. He was high and mighty throughout the assembly and challenged me very disrespectfully. How can a small show of supremacy make him switch so quickly? I wondered what he wanted to confess to that I did not already know of. King Lucien looked at him, stunned; it was normal to look at him that way. Aaron had exposed a vulnerability he would never show. Yes, he was reckless, careless, scornful, conniving, greedy, manipulative and stupid, but he would never cry. No matter how much he wanted or needed something badly, he would never cry, so this must be serious. "Very well, I will give you audience, Aaron," I said, knowing I was not to address him in his official capacity because I was higher than him. I learned it during my short training with Elder Ramos and my father; nobody's office was above mine other than my father's. He nodded, an

~Willow~ Doctor Melvin finally arrived, and I was eager for the procedure. Christopher wasn't enthusiastic about it. I could feel his sadness. I understood his pain. If we had what we wanted, it wouldn't have had to result in this. It would have been nice to experience what being a mother would be like with him. Birth our children and raise them together, but life did not afford me that luxury, so I had to make do with the situation. I had lied to Leeana that I could not carry children, and she obliged to help; I guess when I was gone, she would understand the real reason behind my request. Christopher escorted me to the hospital, and we met with Doctor Melvin at the reception. The man stood up and paid his respects. He did not greet us as his Alpha and Luna but as royalty. I looked at the man, and I smiled at him. He gave me the opportunity I needed to save Luis and Christopher's life. I was grateful for his trust. "Are you sure you want to do this, your highness?" He asked m

~Willow~ I watched Charles spew his nonsense, and people were shocked at what was escaping his lips. "Yes. Do not be surprised. I am telling the truth. Irvin's mother is the moon goddess herself, and his father is the Lycan king. Does that not count for something? My loyalty is not displaced. I have sworn to serve the goddess and the throne, and that is what I am doing." He said with so much conviction. "If Irvin's father is the late King, then that means he is still a Hernandez bloodline, and the moon goddess still needed a Hernandez to procreate. Stop spewing nonsense. Goddess birth or not, he is a bastard, and you have betrayed your King," Ramos said, sounding furious. I had reached Charles by then, and I slapped him. "Do not call that vile creature the moon goddess. Do not call the goddess of destruction and corruption the mother moon again," I said, and people were shocked. "What do you mean, your highness?" An elder asked, and I turned to look at them. "The Hernandez blood

Christopher. Seeing the black smoke ooze out of Charles must have scared everyone, but I was used to it. I did not understand why Luis would allow something like that to scare him. He saw what happened to Rachel and Willow had explained many things to him. The only thing that remained between Willow and me was the time frame she had left, yet he acted like he did not know anything. I was a bit annoyed. When Willow asked me to help Luis, I was mad, but I kept it to myself. "Why are you acting like a baby Luis? You already know these things," I linked him, and he returned to his seat. "I know, but did you see the light coming from Willow? She looked like the sun itself," He said, and I realised he had not seen her do that. It was just King Edward and me that had seen her emit that light. "Well, now you know, sit down and don't embarrass me again," I linked him, smiling, and he cleared his throat, ashamed of himself. I watched Willow explain everything that had to do with Apate.

Willow I saw the corrupted Lycans advance, and Raya began to growl at them. They had killing intent in their eyes, and I knew it would be better to end them than outrun them. "Raya, I will need that light now," I told my wolf, and she was silent a bit. I felt weak even though I was in my wolf form, but something was wrong. My consciousness was the only one present. Raya was suddenly silent, and I felt my body trying to shift back to my human form. I did not understand it until I noticed some particles in the air. Silver dust. Almost unnoticeable. "Silver dust. A terrible weakness to have, Selene," One of the Lycans said to me, and I moved back. I tried to link Christopher but could not reach him. I held my breath and stepped back while fighting my shift back to my human form. I could not hold it for long, so I let go and continued to breathe the poison. I looked in Christopher's direction, and it was clear he had noticed it too. These things came prepared. There was also no

  • Once In The Dust   81  And Our Dreams Came True

WillowMy parents got married three days after we arrived at the palace. My father did not want to waste time anymore, and my mother was surprised that she was speechless by all that had happened. She did not talk much about it; I knew it was because she did not know where to start, but our actions let her know we weren't lying. My uncle Devin attended their wedding along with the two kings and All the alphas in our world. Alpha Devin remembered all that transpired because he was a general. He was happy that his sister was alive this time around. All our devotion, loyalty and respect for Selene increased because she restored all we had lost and blessed us immensely for our faithfulness and service. This was better than anything Apate would have given us had we helped the evil thing to win. We were grateful. We left the Lycan Kingdom a week later to prepare for our wedding, which would take place in the Lycan kingdom in a week. We had to return to Rain pack to finalise the divor

  • Once In The Dust   80 A reunion

Willow.Christopher made love to me sweetly. There was no urgency in his passion, and he took his time. I loved it. Not having a clock over my head was relieving, and I was grateful. When Christopher told me what Selene told him about the gift she had given us, my heart soared. She had finally come through for all of us. Learning that the traitors did not return made me feel rewarded and happy. When I heard Lucien and all the traitors had been wiped away from history. It was as if they never existed, and all I could say was thank you and hoped she heard me.I woke up naked in Christopher's arms. I was a virgin again, so I was sore between my legs, but the pleasure was worth it. Everything we did to each other was worth it, and I could not wait to do everything with him. We had dinner in the room and made love some more.We stayed all day indoors until the next day.Having breakfast with the entire pack was awkward, especially when I had to sit at the high table as their Luna and

  • Once In The Dust   79 Into My Arms

ChristopherI watched Willow advance towards Irvin, and I was afraid of what she planned to do. She had said goodbye and had blocked me out of her mind. I was tired, but I began to fight like a rabid dog. My mate was walking to her death, and there was nothing I could do about it. Please, Selene. Don't let this be it. We have given everything; please do not let this be it," I said.My vision was a blur, but I could see what Willow was doing even though tears were streaming down my face. I noticed that the men had stopped fighting us and were only trying to block us from getting to Willow. I watched King Aaron openly call after her; fear was evident in his voice, but she wasn't listening anymore. Willow went to her knees, and Irvin gave her his hand to kiss. I did not know what she was doing, but it did not seem like it was part of our plan. She touched and kissed his hand, and then I felt the surge. Willow collapsed lifelessly on the ground, and Irvin held his head, screaming

  • Once In The Dust   78 Awake

Willow I opened my eyes as if I had been in a deep sleep. My vision was blurry, and I wondered if I was being judged or had been cast back into the underworld. There was something strange about my environment. It was warm and familiar. Though blurry, there was sunlight, and there was fresh air. I could smell waffles with strawberries, just like the type my mother used to make for breakfast in our cottage in Brent woods. Tears welled up in my eyes. Thinking my soul must be wandering through the vast sea of memories. What a way to live my eternal life."Raya," I called on my wolf."Willow," she replied, and I was glad we were still together. I wanted to laugh, and I wanted to cry at the same time. Where was Christopher? Was he fine? Did he forgive my sacrifice? Did it work, and were they living a normal life? I had so many questions, but I doubted this heaven would bring me answers. "Willow, get up; we have herbs to pick this morning," I heard my mother's voice, and I blinked a f

  • Once In The Dust   77 The Death of Champions

WillowI could not believe that Lucien had betrayed us. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that Lucien would do this to us. He had betrayed us and killed my father. This was a lesson learned a bit too late. I felt the cord connecting me to my father break, and I knew he was no longer with us. Raya told me to focus, but how could I when my heart was broken. I was mourning my father. Tears streamed down my cheeks even though I tried to hold them. Miles fought beside me, and I wondered how his king could be so stupid. I could feel Miles' devotion; he was ready to die beside me.We slashed and cut through the attackers, a mix of the zombies and our treacherous people, and we moved swiftly. I knew Mark and Aida were no more, and I wondered who would fall next."We are all coming towards you so Irvin can come towards you. He seems to be avoiding you," Christopher said, and I did not need to guess why. Irvin was representing Apate, while I was representing Selene. He did

  • Once In The Dust   76 At War

Christopher It happened suddenly. We were asleep when Mark alerted me that we were under attack. My stomach churned because the time was upon us. The battle Willow told me about was finally here. The struggle for survival and freedom. Our kind would be extinct if we lost this battle, but her vision still showed a total wipeout. As worried as I was, there was no escaping it anymore. They were here, and they were ready. I planned to fight to survive to spend the rest of Willow's time in peace. Still, If I lost my life in the process, I was willing to take out as many people as possible for the survival of my kind. As the general of this war, it was my duty to ensure we won. Willow was awake, and I could see she knew from her eyes. Words did not need to be spoken between us. We both knew it was time. She kissed me and reached for her ultraviolet blade. Her light had a limit, and we knew it limited her strength; it would have to be her last resort because her life force was use

  • Once In The Dust   75 Move To Neeami

WillowTwo months and two weeks passed from the meeting with the alphas in Rain pack. Our training was rigorous, and I had moved to stock more provisions in the shelters so our people would have provisions if the war lasted longer than it should. The alphas that opted to converse with Irvin had nothing good to say. Some of their scouts found their location, but they were never able to return so we could trace and figure it out. Alfredo received a reply from Irvin, stating that he should join up or die. It meant we were back to the original solution that I had proffered from the onset. Our training was rigorous, and a new type of panic overcame me as time drew nearer. I was having serious issues accepting that my time was almost up. I also kept seeing our doom and the death of many people, which was not good. According to my visions, there was a complete wipeout, and I was trying to figure out how best to avoid it. Ultraviolet ammunition was prepared. It came in the form of larg

  • Once In The Dust   74 Conflicts and plans

Willow Rain pack was the way we left it. Mark and Garnett did a good job, and Luis seemed to have eased in when he returned. The people were happy to see us and confessed that no one had dared to attack them since the last attack. We had sent a strong message with that last attack, so I knew it would be unwise for Irvin to send more of his people to die. While Christopher handled the military and engineering section, I dealt with the shelter with the help of Aida. As much as I hated working with her, I had to let it be. Seeing that Apate tried to use my pain to make me cross over made me force myself to get along with Aida. She knew how to handle Luna matters, so I had to allow her to help me put the shelter together. There was a lot of awkwardness between us, but we tried to make it work. After one week, the shelters were finally in the best shape, and we asked the rest of the civilians living above ground to move there. I couldn't tell if my pack was infiltrated, but I ju

  • Once In The Dust   73 Preparations and Implementation

Willow I woke up, and the room was foggy. Everything that happened in the woods returned to me, and I was afraid. I would have turned my back on everything I was fighting for if Raya had not come through. Apate spoke my truth and voiced out my pains and fears. The offer was tempting. I would do anything to live beyond a year. To carry my children and to raise them. To grow old with Christopher and to spend more time with my father. I would do anything for it. I was paying a very steep price which was my life. I looked to my left, and Christopher was sitting on a chair looking at me. He was wearing joggers, and I looked at my body. They had clothed me in a gown. I was a bit confused because we were both down. I wondered how come he recovered faster than me. "Darling," he said to me with worry in his eyes, and I gently sat up in bed. "How long was I out?" I asked him. " A day," he said, and I touched my tummy, worried about my injections. "Dr Melvin attended to you," he sai
