I joined Willow in her office to wait for the doctor.

I haven't been to the luna's office since I married Aida. The last time I entered the office, I had no luna and wanted to renovate the place for Aida.

Seeing Willow occupy the seat made my heart swell.

"Should we go to the lake after we are done with the doctor? It is a beautiful night out there," I said, and she smiled at me.

"Yes, I would love to," She said, and I relaxed in the chair.

Even though we had so much to do, I did not want to miss any moment with her. Knowing she wouldn't be with me for long made me desperately want to spend time and build memories with her.

I felt it was unfair to put her on a clock while we were allowed to live the rest of our days. If truly we all died, we should all be on a clock. It didn't make sense. I wasn't the one who determined what would happen in our world, but I hoped the goddess would make an exception for me this time.

  • Once In The Dust   48 No To Aaron

Christopher Garret and I left for the meeting the next day. I was eager to get it over with. I wasn't looking forward to the topic of discussion, but if I refused to show up, it would be seen as an act of insubordination to the King. I pleaded with Luis to take care of my wife and keep the pack in order until I returned. We arrived at the venue, and King Aaron could not stand seeing me. I couldn't wait to get the meeting over with, but everyone called had to be present before we could start. Based on what happened with the poisoning, Garret and I chose to stay away from their food and drink and stuck to the water flask we had brought. Each with their own. Some alphas looked at me funny, but Aaron did not need to guess why I would do that. He had successfully poisoned me once; I wouldn't give him a chance to do it again. I was offered small bites and cocktails, and I outrightly refused them. Soon the alphas caught on, and some felt weird eating the food offered. When we were al

  • Once In The Dust   49 Why The Lycans Came

Willow, The treatment lasted about two weeks, and King Edward was feeling better already. It was a miracle. Realising I was right about him being poisoned did not sit well with him, and he was glad he listened to me. As for the silver in his system, it dissipated a week into treatment. King Edward was thrilled about his health; I could understand his joy. From thinking he would soon die to having a long life was enough to get him giddy. He also seemed fond of me and promised to give me a title in his court. I wished I could stay long enough to enjoy the promotion. It was sad that in this lifetime, I was only passing through, and I had just a few months to go. I hated thinking about it and just enjoying my life, but my life was so good that there were times I cried about it when I was alone. I was afraid to leave the people I loved behind, especially Christopher. I wonder how he will cope without me. It was a hard pill to swallow, but that was my life. We decided to watch a

  • Once In The Dust   50 I Was All Ears

Christopher Who could have imagined that Edward was Willow's father? She was the actual princess and the heir to the Lycan throne. Why didn't I know this in my first life? I would have thought to get her back to her father. Now that she was on borrowed time, I doubted it would help. The truth is, there was a possibility there wouldn't be a war if Edward had an heir, but Willow would not be around long enough to ascend the throne. Telling him the truth about his daughter will be hard. He did not take Leah's death well; how will he take it when I tell him that his daughter was also killed because of my stupidity and negligence, and she was living on borrowed time? It was a cruel joke, and I wished there was a way I could plead with the powers that be to restore Willow's life. I watched Edward hold on to his daughter, and my heart was broken. Fate had sent back the right wolf with the wrong conditions. Thanks to her speciality, she was able to save Luis and my life, and also sav

Christopher Brooks and I went to my car to have a conversation. He said it was private talk, and I wondered what it might be. We sat in the car, and Luis stood guard. "Sorry to trouble you like this. I know you have a lot planned out, but I needed to speak to you about my niece, whom you are married to," he said, and I frowned at him. "I know I have never visited or spoken to her, and maybe I should, but I am not good at building relationships, especially broken ones," he said and sighed, then pinched the bridge of his nose. "I am only telling you this because of what Queen Agnes is doing. I would have held my peace if King Edward was still alive, but I can't anymore. I know you love her and will protect her. So, I know I can trust you with this information." He said, and I knew he would tell me what I already knew and much more, so I was attentive. "My sister wasn't a bad person like people try to make her seem. That was queen Agnes's narrative of her; in fact, she was a joy.

  • Once In The Dust   52 It will be Explosive

Christopher. As we drove into the gates of the Lycan kingdom, I felt giddy because I knew the drama that would ensue. A king presumed dead had returned, and he had found his heir. I wondered how Agnes and her co-conspirators would take it. The men looked at my Jeep funny, and I could not blame them; it had just survived the attack of the Bandit Clan. I hoped we could solve this matter once the Lycan king was back in power because Aaron was not doing an excellent job. I wasn't happy about everything because it meant I would get to spend less time with my wife, and we didn't have much of that left. It was frustrating. Someone came towards me, where I parked my Jeep, to lead me inside. It was clear I was no longer an ally because I would usually walk in without issue. I linked King Edward to cover his face with a hoody while he carried my wife, who was wrapped in a blanket. Carrying my sleeping wife would draw less attention to him than if I were carrying her and he was on his own.

  • Once In The Dust   53 In The Culprit's Shoes

Christopher. Willow relaxed on the couch in the room allocated to us, and I could tell she was nervous. It wasn't every day that people realised that they were royalty. I could understand why she was nervous, and I could feel the tinge of anger she was radiating. I touched her hand, and she looked at me with misty eyes. "How do I tell him I do not have long to live?" she said, voicing the one thing that troubled both our hearts and I held her while she cried. "It will break him, Chris; it will destroy him," she said. I wanted to tell her it was breaking me too, but I held it together and gently patted her. "It is okay, my love. I am sure he will be fine," I said, and she wrapped her arms around me. "Why will the goddess be so cruel?" She asked, and I shook my head. "It was my fault, Willow. I did this to us. I did not protect you and allowed those two to destroy us. This is on me," I said, and I believed every word. I deserved the heartbreak that would come with her departure b

  • Once In The Dust   54 How The Dinner Went

Willow. I watched as they dragged the culprits out of the dining room. People were in fear, and Queen Agnes was shaking. "I swear, darling, I did not know that was what they were doing. I genuinely thought you had a brain disease," She said, wiping away her tears. Elder Ramos looked at my father with concern and then looked at me. "Thank you for saving his life, young lady. The Lycan kingdom is indebted to you. You have averted a horrible war that would have happened had he died. Thank you so much." He said, and I smiled at him. "It is an honour to serve my king," I said, and then the man nodded. "If I may, your Majesty, Alpha Christopher's Luna looks a lot like your mother. She has her eyes," Elder Ramos said. "Is that why you are so fond of her?" he asked, and my father began to laugh. "You are too nosy for your good, Ramos; I am glad you notice the similarities between her and my mother because that brings us to the next reason why I called this dinner," He said and touched

  • Once In The Dust   55 Who Do They Serve

Willow, I was amazed at how my father broke the news and how they took it. I wondered what would happen to Agnes because the punishment for treason was death. Would he exile her as they did to my mother, or would he go by the book? It was sad that I could not relish in the moment, but I was grateful that my mother would get the justice she deserved in this life. My father asked Christopher and me to join him in his lounge. He did not want me out of sight, and I could understand his feelings. I would honestly do the same. Looking at how attached he was, I suspected he would not want us to leave, but we had to. I was racing against time, and there was still so much to do because the vision remained the same. I still saw the massacre and the bandit clan winning. We entered the lounge and sat on the loveseat, and Christopher drew me close. I sank into his embrace and wondered why it didn't go this way in the first place. Yes, I did many things differently that put us on this path

  • Once In The Dust   81  And Our Dreams Came True

WillowMy parents got married three days after we arrived at the palace. My father did not want to waste time anymore, and my mother was surprised that she was speechless by all that had happened. She did not talk much about it; I knew it was because she did not know where to start, but our actions let her know we weren't lying. My uncle Devin attended their wedding along with the two kings and All the alphas in our world. Alpha Devin remembered all that transpired because he was a general. He was happy that his sister was alive this time around. All our devotion, loyalty and respect for Selene increased because she restored all we had lost and blessed us immensely for our faithfulness and service. This was better than anything Apate would have given us had we helped the evil thing to win. We were grateful. We left the Lycan Kingdom a week later to prepare for our wedding, which would take place in the Lycan kingdom in a week. We had to return to Rain pack to finalise the divor

  • Once In The Dust   80 A reunion

Willow.Christopher made love to me sweetly. There was no urgency in his passion, and he took his time. I loved it. Not having a clock over my head was relieving, and I was grateful. When Christopher told me what Selene told him about the gift she had given us, my heart soared. She had finally come through for all of us. Learning that the traitors did not return made me feel rewarded and happy. When I heard Lucien and all the traitors had been wiped away from history. It was as if they never existed, and all I could say was thank you and hoped she heard me.I woke up naked in Christopher's arms. I was a virgin again, so I was sore between my legs, but the pleasure was worth it. Everything we did to each other was worth it, and I could not wait to do everything with him. We had dinner in the room and made love some more.We stayed all day indoors until the next day.Having breakfast with the entire pack was awkward, especially when I had to sit at the high table as their Luna and

  • Once In The Dust   79 Into My Arms

ChristopherI watched Willow advance towards Irvin, and I was afraid of what she planned to do. She had said goodbye and had blocked me out of her mind. I was tired, but I began to fight like a rabid dog. My mate was walking to her death, and there was nothing I could do about it. Please, Selene. Don't let this be it. We have given everything; please do not let this be it," I said.My vision was a blur, but I could see what Willow was doing even though tears were streaming down my face. I noticed that the men had stopped fighting us and were only trying to block us from getting to Willow. I watched King Aaron openly call after her; fear was evident in his voice, but she wasn't listening anymore. Willow went to her knees, and Irvin gave her his hand to kiss. I did not know what she was doing, but it did not seem like it was part of our plan. She touched and kissed his hand, and then I felt the surge. Willow collapsed lifelessly on the ground, and Irvin held his head, screaming

  • Once In The Dust   78 Awake

Willow I opened my eyes as if I had been in a deep sleep. My vision was blurry, and I wondered if I was being judged or had been cast back into the underworld. There was something strange about my environment. It was warm and familiar. Though blurry, there was sunlight, and there was fresh air. I could smell waffles with strawberries, just like the type my mother used to make for breakfast in our cottage in Brent woods. Tears welled up in my eyes. Thinking my soul must be wandering through the vast sea of memories. What a way to live my eternal life."Raya," I called on my wolf."Willow," she replied, and I was glad we were still together. I wanted to laugh, and I wanted to cry at the same time. Where was Christopher? Was he fine? Did he forgive my sacrifice? Did it work, and were they living a normal life? I had so many questions, but I doubted this heaven would bring me answers. "Willow, get up; we have herbs to pick this morning," I heard my mother's voice, and I blinked a f

WillowI could not believe that Lucien had betrayed us. Never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that Lucien would do this to us. He had betrayed us and killed my father. This was a lesson learned a bit too late. I felt the cord connecting me to my father break, and I knew he was no longer with us. Raya told me to focus, but how could I when my heart was broken. I was mourning my father. Tears streamed down my cheeks even though I tried to hold them. Miles fought beside me, and I wondered how his king could be so stupid. I could feel Miles' devotion; he was ready to die beside me.We slashed and cut through the attackers, a mix of the zombies and our treacherous people, and we moved swiftly. I knew Mark and Aida were no more, and I wondered who would fall next."We are all coming towards you so Irvin can come towards you. He seems to be avoiding you," Christopher said, and I did not need to guess why. Irvin was representing Apate, while I was representing Selene. He did

  • Once In The Dust   76 At War

Christopher It happened suddenly. We were asleep when Mark alerted me that we were under attack. My stomach churned because the time was upon us. The battle Willow told me about was finally here. The struggle for survival and freedom. Our kind would be extinct if we lost this battle, but her vision still showed a total wipeout. As worried as I was, there was no escaping it anymore. They were here, and they were ready. I planned to fight to survive to spend the rest of Willow's time in peace. Still, If I lost my life in the process, I was willing to take out as many people as possible for the survival of my kind. As the general of this war, it was my duty to ensure we won. Willow was awake, and I could see she knew from her eyes. Words did not need to be spoken between us. We both knew it was time. She kissed me and reached for her ultraviolet blade. Her light had a limit, and we knew it limited her strength; it would have to be her last resort because her life force was use

  • Once In The Dust   75 Move To Neeami

WillowTwo months and two weeks passed from the meeting with the alphas in Rain pack. Our training was rigorous, and I had moved to stock more provisions in the shelters so our people would have provisions if the war lasted longer than it should. The alphas that opted to converse with Irvin had nothing good to say. Some of their scouts found their location, but they were never able to return so we could trace and figure it out. Alfredo received a reply from Irvin, stating that he should join up or die. It meant we were back to the original solution that I had proffered from the onset. Our training was rigorous, and a new type of panic overcame me as time drew nearer. I was having serious issues accepting that my time was almost up. I also kept seeing our doom and the death of many people, which was not good. According to my visions, there was a complete wipeout, and I was trying to figure out how best to avoid it. Ultraviolet ammunition was prepared. It came in the form of larg

  • Once In The Dust   74 Conflicts and plans

Willow Rain pack was the way we left it. Mark and Garnett did a good job, and Luis seemed to have eased in when he returned. The people were happy to see us and confessed that no one had dared to attack them since the last attack. We had sent a strong message with that last attack, so I knew it would be unwise for Irvin to send more of his people to die. While Christopher handled the military and engineering section, I dealt with the shelter with the help of Aida. As much as I hated working with her, I had to let it be. Seeing that Apate tried to use my pain to make me cross over made me force myself to get along with Aida. She knew how to handle Luna matters, so I had to allow her to help me put the shelter together. There was a lot of awkwardness between us, but we tried to make it work. After one week, the shelters were finally in the best shape, and we asked the rest of the civilians living above ground to move there. I couldn't tell if my pack was infiltrated, but I ju

  • Once In The Dust   73 Preparations and Implementation

Willow I woke up, and the room was foggy. Everything that happened in the woods returned to me, and I was afraid. I would have turned my back on everything I was fighting for if Raya had not come through. Apate spoke my truth and voiced out my pains and fears. The offer was tempting. I would do anything to live beyond a year. To carry my children and to raise them. To grow old with Christopher and to spend more time with my father. I would do anything for it. I was paying a very steep price which was my life. I looked to my left, and Christopher was sitting on a chair looking at me. He was wearing joggers, and I looked at my body. They had clothed me in a gown. I was a bit confused because we were both down. I wondered how come he recovered faster than me. "Darling," he said to me with worry in his eyes, and I gently sat up in bed. "How long was I out?" I asked him. " A day," he said, and I touched my tummy, worried about my injections. "Dr Melvin attended to you," he sai
