Gwen’s POV

They immediately called a doctor from the neighboring pack to come and attend to Nora.

Alpha Blake never left her side while she lay there, extremely worried about her condition. He caught me in the hallway, my eyes were filled with questions.

"Gwen, I am sorry," he said, full of remorse. "We will have to cancel our date for tonight. Nora needs immediate medical attention."

I forced a smile, though inside an insurmountable well of disappointment roared.

"I understand, Alpha Blake. She needs you right now. We can always do it some other time."

"Thank you for understanding. I promise we will have that night."

I nodded, my eyes on Blake as he quickened his pace back to Nora. I was feeling annoyed, frustrated, and deeply disappointed.

I had been looking forward to this evening all along, and now everything just seemed to be falling apart.

I returned to my room and tried to rid myself of the negative thoughts. My maids, noticing my mood, hurriedly surrounded me with their
