Chapter 37

Gwen’s POV

It was after midnight, following a night out at the movies, that Alpha Blake and I made our way home.

The car headlights cut through the darkness, making the twisty road light up before wending its way home, back into the pack’s territory, it had been exactly what we both needed as it offered a brief respite from the tension building between us.

I and Alpha Blake talked about the movie, we laughed at the good parts and the funny scenes, and for some hours everything seemed okay and normal again.

As Alpha Blake turned toward the gate of the pack's compound, Alpha Blake slowed the car a bit, a scowl furrowing his face and his eyes narrowing in confusion. Standing by the gate was Nora.

Her figure was illuminated by the car's headlights. Seeing her, my heart sank, my earlier worries and concerns returning.

Alpha Blake tossed his car into park, then turned to me, whose brow I could see furrowing in the driver’s seat. "What's she doing here?"
