"It seems that Emory is in a really bad mood," Myles muttered to himself, exhaling deeply. He continued to watch Emory's behaviour from a distance, his brow furrowed. "Look. She's even ignoring Fernanda and the others." He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his expression serious. "I wonder... what's really going on with Emory? Why has she become so frightening?"

Unable to suppress his curiosity, Myles decided to investigate. He quietly followed Emory and her group into her office, but found nothing useful.

Emory's office door was shut tight and Myles couldn't hear a word. Ironically, he'd forgotten a crucial detail. "Damn!" He closed his eyes dramatically and slapped his own forehead. "Emory's office is soundproof. Eavesdropping in here is pointless."

Clicking his tongue, Myles walked away, but he wasn't about to give up on getting answers. Instead, he was sure the information would come to him sooner or later.

Myles didn't have to wait long. After about fifteen minutes, the door to Emory

"Madam, isn't that a good idea?"Trina smiled slowly. Fernanda's question had taken her by surprise, but she managed to regain her composure quickly, showing no sign of her initial shock. "It's a good idea, but I'm not entirely sure it would be helpful.""Why, madam?" Fernanda asked quickly. "I thought that if Luna's emotions were related to past events, it would be best to bring in a psychologist. Besides, didn't you take Luna to a psychologist once?""You're right." Trina nodded calmly. She took a short breath before continuing. "I did bring in a psychologist after the death of Alpha Wylie and Luna Aretha. I was concerned about her mental state and didn't want to take any chances." A pause followed, her gaze going blank for a moment, as if recalling a distant memory. "I didn't want her to be traumatised by that event." She clasped her hands together, her expression sombre. "She was so young when she had to see her parents lying there drenched in blood.""Madam," Fernanda whispered,

There were two letters on Emory's desk, both from the same sender, the Gardeno Pack. One had arrived yesterday, and the latest had just been delivered by Sienna, perhaps five minutes ago.The arrival of the second letter immediately made Emory tense. Her anticipation flared and she quickly ordered Sienna to leave the study. She didn't want to risk cursing Jaxon while Sienna was still there. The contents of the letter from the Gardeno Pack were not what they had expected. At first, Emory shared Orlando's thoughts. The letter sent by the Gardeno Pack had to be related to the fire in the wheat fields. Logically, the Gardeno Pack would seek retribution, and war could break out at any time, considering the losses caused by the fire. But Emory was wrong. The letter didn't mention the Gardeno Pack's wheat field fire at all; instead, it touched on something she wished she could forget."Jaxon." Emory closed her eyes and held her head. "What exactly are you doing? What do you mean by sending m

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining brightly and the air was crisp and refreshing. Added to this was the happy chirping of birds singing a lively tune. Everything blended together in a harmony that soothed the soul.Unfortunately, the beauty of the morning wasn't enough to infuse Jaxon with positive energy. He couldn't shake the tension that clouded his face, and Thomas Wells—the Gardeno Pack's watcher—noticed it clearly."Would you mind telling us what's been bothering you lately, Alpha?" Thomas asked politely as he pushed Jaxon's untouched breakfast plate away. "You seem preoccupied. Perhaps I could be of some help."Jaxon blinked once before letting out a long sigh, a reaction that confirmed Thomas' observation. Then he spoke. "In all my life, I don't think I've ever been unable to solve a problem that seems so simple."Thomas frowned slightly. "May I ask what's troubling you, Alpha? I doubt this problem is as simple as it seems, considering how distracted you've been l

No wonder I've been feeling more at ease lately. Despite the many issues she had to deal with, Emory felt a sense of relief as she absently rubbed her neck. So, I haven't been wearing Myles' necklace for the last few days.Emory wouldn't have noticed if Myles hadn't pointed it out. With so many pressing concerns, something as trivial as a necklace hadn't managed to get her attention. Besides, she didn't even like necklaces. The loss of Myles' necklace had not caused her any distress. On the contrary, its absence had become a hidden blessing for Emory. She was grateful. Without Myles' necklace around her neck, she felt freer. Her breathing came easier, her chest felt lighter and there was no lingering unease within her.Still, Emory wasn't going to ignore the subject of Myles' missing necklace. Not because she felt any emotional attachment to it, but because she wanted to avoid being bombarded with Myles' incessant questions. She was sure he wouldn't stop asking until the necklace was

Jaxon's heart seemed to stop when his phone rang that night. An incoming call from a new number appeared. A smile immediately formed on his lips. He guessed it had to be Emory."Hold on a second, Damian," Jaxon said as he reached for the phone on his desk. The latest report on the state of the wheat fields after the fire was no longer his concern. "I've got an important call."Damian gave a brief nod but remained where he was, silent. He said nothing, just watched Jaxon's behaviour, which made his unease grow.A possibility had recently disturbed Damian's peace of mind. His thoughts were restless, all stemming from the fire in the wheat fields. The Gardeno Pack had suffered considerable losses as a result of the incident, yet Jaxon had taken no further action.Damian had repeatedly brought up the subject of the fire, hoping that Jaxon would order him to prepare a plan of retaliation. But no such orders ever came. Instead, Jaxon showed no inclination to seek revenge. He often avoided d

Lacey thought something serious was going on. Emory's voice had sounded shaky when she had called earlier, betraying an uncontrollable panic. So, Lacey hurried. She rushed to Emory's office and received an unexpected order."We're going to the Lustre Lounge, Lacey."Lacey's brow furrowed slightly. She was confused but remained alert as she followed Emory who had already left the office. A few minutes later they left the palace.Confusion continued to swirl in Lacey's mind as they drove. She hadn't expected Emory to contact her so late at night just to go to the Lustre Lounge. Tomorrow was still a working day and, as far as she could remember, Emory's last visit to the place had left an unpleasant impression.Lacey still didn't know what had happened to Emory that night. She had been careful not to ask, respecting Emory's warning. But Emory's behaviour now only deepened her curiosity."I know you must be wondering about my behaviour."Emory's voice came out of nowhere, causing Lacey to

The heat burned Emory's face. Her cheeks flushed, powerless as embarrassment struck her like a bolt of lightning. She had never expected Jaxon to instruct Damian to greet her arrival. There was nothing wrong with Damian's behaviour—nothing at all. He truly respected Emory, and that was the problem.Emory couldn't think of any other reason for Damian's respectful attitude towards her. There was only one possible explanation: Jaxon must have told Damian something.Damn you, Jaxon. Emory cursed inwardly as the lift began to move. What exactly did you tell Damian that I don't see a trace of hostility in his eyes? On the contrary, he's being overly polite to me.For two werewolves from different packs who had been enemies for over twenty years, Damian's behaviour was completely unexpected. It left Emory with a flood of questions swirling in her head. It wasn't just the fact that she was being greeted, it was also Damian's extraordinary display of respect and courtesy towards her.Emory's c

Trina's arrival at The Palace that morning was met with the usual warm welcome. The Omegas who happened to cross her path greeted her with respect. She smiled gracefully as she left, only to find Fernanda approaching."Good morning, Madam Trina."Trina replied with a small nod. "Good morning, Fernanda," she replied warmly, exuding authority. "What a coincidence. I was just looking for you.""For me, madam?" Fernanda asked politely for confirmation. "You don't want to see Luna?"Trina shook her head, waving her hand briefly in front of her face. "Of course not. It's Sunday, so let Luna rest. I don't want to disturb her."Fernanda nodded in understanding before asking, "Then why did you wish to see me? Is there something you need, madam?"Trina's look was more than enough to answer Fernanda's question. Realising this, Fernanda gestured for Trina to follow her to a more private place. With the door closed, Trina took a seat on the sofa while Fernanda stood, maintaining a composed demeano

"So..." Myles spoke as he sat down. His tone was different. He looked alternately at Trina and Isidore, his eyes full of meaning. "I've confirmed that Emory and Jaxon are indeed having an affair. I have additional evidence to the photos I found in Emory's study. There's no doubt about it."Trina and Isidore said nothing. They exchanged tense glances, their expressions tense. It seemed that the information Myles had shared that morning wasn't a good way to start the day.Myles, on the other hand, seemed to think otherwise. There was nothing more interesting to him at the moment than Emory and Jaxon's alleged affair. That was why he had arrived at Montclair Manor so early. In fact, if he hadn't been so exhausted after three days and two nights of partying, he would have come straight over.Myles was consumed by an unbearable curiosity, eager to witness Trina and Isidore's reactions to the information he had received the day before. "I've already hired someone to spy on Emory," he contin

The dizziness still clung to him as Myles arrived at the palace. His world continued to spin slightly, the unsteady sensation making his steps wobble and nausea creep in. He quickly braced himself against a wall to keep his balance. An Omega approached him and asked politely, "Alpha, are you all right?"Myles closed his eyes and massaged his temples, hoping the dizziness would pass. "Yes, I'm fine," he replied with a broad grin. He looked at the Omega with an unfocused gaze, but one that radiated undeniable elation. "As a matter of fact, I've never felt better. It's been so long since I felt this alive."Myles could never forget the terrible tragedy that had occurred some two months earlier, when Emory had killed two of his women. Since then, he hadn't dared bring anyone to the palace for fun. Worse still, Emory's often unpredictable moods made him too afraid to take the risk of seeking pleasure outside the Palace. He didn't want to provoke her anger any further.Myles was tormented.

Even the word shocked wouldn't be enough to describe Ramona's current state of mind. Her emotions were all over the place from the moment Emory began the conversation. She was shaken and, truthfully, had to admit that discussing true mates was not a topic she had anticipated. She really hadn't expected Emory to bring it up."Have you ever missed someone, Ramona?"Ramona blinked. She didn't answer the question because she had the feeling that Emory wasn't really expecting an answer. Instead, she just looked at Emory with a calm demeanour, ready to listen to whatever Emory had to say."To be honest, I've never felt longing before," Emory continued with a restrained grimace. There was a flicker of guilt in her eyes. "The worst thing is, I haven't missed Mama and Papa all this time, Ramona. I've lost them, but I've never missed them. At first, I didn't realise it. But then, that night, I dreamt of Mama." She paused, feeling the storm of emotions in her chest. "Since that night I've often

Emory had never felt so drained. Usually she was full of energy, no matter how many tasks piled up or how exhausted she was. She might feel tired, but she never felt completely drained—not like this. Even taking a breath seemed taxing, as if something was pressing down on her chest. She seemed devoid of her usual zest for life, which worried everyone around her, including Fernanda.Emory took a deep breath. She looked at the plate of snacks on her desk that Fernanda had just replaced. "I think I'm going to feel like this for the next five days, but don't worry. I'm not sick. I don't have any problems. I just..." She exhaled deeply. "...feel unmotivated.""That's the problem, Luna," Fernanda said, taking the untouched plate of snacks and putting it on the trolley. "You've looked unmotivated for the last two days. I've never seen you like this before. Is there something on your mind?"There is, Emory's answer was in her heart. I can't stop thinking about Jaxon.Emory closed her eyes, ho

Jaxon had a lot on his plate after deciding to leave for Argentina. His schedule had shifted drastically, forcing him to rush certain tasks and complete them quickly. So, it wasn't surprising that he had been incredibly busy over the past few days.Jaxon hardly had any time for himself. His phone rang incessantly and countless messages demanded his immediate attention. To make matters worse, the mountain of documents on his desk showed no sign of diminishing.Tiredness crept in. Jaxon’s shoulders ached with a persistent, nagging pain. Occasionally he stretched his muscles before plunging back into his work."It seems like now would be a good time to call Kira. What do you think, Alpha?"Jaxon let out a long sigh and accepted the cup of coffee offered by Thomas. "I don't think so, Thomas. I'm fine, I just need to sleep. Confusion clouded Pierce's mind as his late-night meeting with Emory drew to a close. He walked through the corridors of the palace, his mind racing with Emory's orders. Stopping all activities related to the Gardeno Pack was something he had never expected. After all, he had thought that this was exactly the time to keep the pressure on the Gardeno Pack. The Gardeno Pack could not be considered unstable. The wheat fields fire had undoubtedly cost them dearly, but it wouldn't have a significant effect on them. Still, their minds were certainly divided, and Emory should have used this opportunity to push them further.Pierce's footsteps came to an abrupt halt as someone suddenly appeared from behind a wall. "Alpha Myles."Myles grinned and approached Pierce. "Hello, Commander Pierce," he greeted in a tone that made Pierce frown. "Looks like you've just met Luna." He cast a quick glance towards Emory's office before confirming his assumption. "Am I right?""Yes," Pierce replied with a s
