Trina couldn't say anything more. She realised that there was nothing in this world that could go against Isidore once he had made up his mind. So, the only thing she could do was to calm herself, to keep reminding herself that war would inevitably break out, whether it came quickly or slowly. After all, she had been one of the most enthusiastic supporters of Isidore's plan. So, there was no point in being afraid now. Especially since her safety was guaranteed for the duration of the war.

The ringing of a phone broke the brief silence between Trina and Isidore. It was a call from Myles.

Trina immediately answered the call and activated the speakerphone. She then put the phone down on the table.

"Hello, Mum."

Trina replied, "Hello, Myles." She then asked Myles, looking at Isidore. "So how is it? Did you give Emory the necklace?"

"I have, Mum. Don't worry," Myles replied happily. "I gave the necklace to Emory. Oh! Not only that, but I put it on her myself. So, there's nothing more to wo

It sounded impossible, so much so that Fernanda wanted to deny it, refused to believe it. But it was the most reasonable explanation for all the oddities—magic, just as Denise had said.Unfortunately, it wasn't so easy for Fernanda to agree with Denise. There were a few things that were unsettling, one of them being the undeniable fact that the initial relationship between werewolves and witches was anything but good. As far as she knew, the two races had been locked in eternal enmity. The history was uncertain; different stories had circulated over the years, but none of them could be trusted as the definitive cause of the feud. Each story often had variations, depending on the perspective from which it was told.Werewolves believed that witches had been the ones to start the conflict in the first place. To the witches, werewolves were wild, uncontrollable creatures—too powerful to be allowed to roam free. In short, they were seen as a threat.Tensions escalated when the werewolves d

If she could be honest, Emory would probably say that Myles' arrival in her room was not the only thing that surprised her. On the contrary, even more surprising was the discovery that Myles had given her a gift. As far as she could remember, Myles had never given her anything in the three years they had been together.Ironically, those two things were nothing compared to the fact that Myles had given Emory a necklace exactly like the one that had been lost before, with no difference at all.Emory could only gape. She really didn't know what to say. In the end, she accepted the necklace without hesitation. The only reason she did so was to end her conversation with Myles as quickly as possible. But that didn't mean that Emory thought her decision was the right one. She thought it might be better to ask Myles for another gift—if he insisted on giving her one—as long as it wasn't a necklace.Emory felt really uncomfortable. She had lost count of how many times she had touched her neck i

It was perfectly understandable to Emory why Jaxon had made such a request. His demeanour—whether it was the look in his eyes or the tension etched into his face—spoke volumes without the need for words. She understood, so clearly in fact, that she didn't argue with him at all.Emory let out a long sigh, trying to suppress the turmoil in her chest. Jaxon's jealousy was obvious, and it wasn't just about the necklace—it was about the whole situation that had ensnared them and left them helpless against the bonds of fate.Still, Emory couldn't blame Jaxon for his feelings. Truth be told, she was tossed about in the same storm of emotions—helplessness.Everything felt like an unbreakable snare, trapping Emory between two opposing worlds. The presence of two men, each with a different meaning in her life, made her question the purpose of fate's cruel games.Fatigue crept back in. The brief respite Emory had felt during her time with Jaxon had vanished, leaving her tired again after leaving

Emory was stunned. This time she didn't answer. Not because Denise's words were harsh, but because something had suddenly occurred to her without warning."Honestly, I hesitated at first. At one point I considered giving you a necklace instead. But then I remembered that night. You looked uncomfortable wearing a necklace. You kept fidgeting, touching your neck and the chain nervously. That's why I decided on a ring instead. Besides, the ring is already on your finger. So, there's no reason for you to ever take it off." A faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared on Emory's lips, so subtle that even Denise didn't notice it. Warmth blossomed within her as Jaxon's words from that night returned to her memory. Even in just one meeting, Jaxon had understood her so completely.Emory cleared her throat, forcing the pleasant memory from her mind. She couldn't take any chances. If her smile widened, Denise would undoubtedly start asking questions. At the same time, Denise finished brushing

Cordelia jumped. She couldn't contain her shock at Jaxon's firm words. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Jaxon," she murmured, shaking her head slightly. She struggled to find the right words, to convince herself that everything could still be fixed. Jaxon's firmness didn't necessarily mean the end of everything. "I didn't mean it like that. I just wanted you to meet Giselle, nothing more, nothing less, not to set you up with her."Jaxon narrowed his eyes, staring intently at Cordelia, his gaze piercing. "Is that true, Aunt?" he asked, his tone tinged with doubt. "Is it true that you only wanted to introduce us, not mate us?"Cordelia opened her mouth to reply to Jaxon's question, which felt more like an accusation. But Jaxon didn't give her a chance to defend herself."Please, Aunt. You're the person I trust the most in this world. So don't lie to me," Jaxon continued, frustration evident in his voice. 01:30 AM, Command Room at Guard Headquarters. The wall clock ticked softly, accompanying the oppressive silence that filled the room. The dim light cast faint shadows along the walls, enveloping the large wooden table, cluttered with maps, documents and fuzzy photographs. The scent of old paper mingled with traces of overheated electronics, mingled with an unseen but palpable tension.Pierce stood at the edge of the table; his hands braced against its cold surface. His jaw was clenched and his sharp gaze seemed to pierce every corner of the room like the blade of a knife. His presence exuded undeniable authority, leaving everyone in the room with a clear message: the margin for error was gone.To the right of the table, Giorgio William Keller—Pierce's appointed head of the Zyranos Pack's investigative unit—sorted through several documents. His demeanour was casual, but it couldn't hide the sharpness of his mind. Known for his impeccable reputation as a strategist and his disdain for s

The rain began to fall as the car drove through the gates of Zyranos Palace. At first it was just a light drizzle, but it only took a few moments for it to turn into a torrent, pouring down in an irregular rhythm.Raindrops hit the car windows; their sound sharp yet like a low whisper that lingered endlessly in Emory's ears. The sound felt distant, so far away, as if muffled behind the thick layers of her chaotic thoughts. The downpour intensified, forcing the windscreen wipers to work harder to maintain a clear view of the road. Unfortunately for Emory, the world beyond the glass looked like a washed-out painting—blurred, formless and as uncertain as what lay ahead. Emory sat in the passenger seat, her hands clutching the edge of her cloak. She hoped the fabric would provide some warmth against the biting cold. But it was all in vain, for the chill she felt came not from the rain or the night air, but from deep within. It clung to her chest like an icy knot, slowly tightening and ma
