Sally was confused. “Would you be able to wash if I leave?”

He was blind, would he be able to see anything?

The man did not say anything.

Yet, the air temperature between them fell a few degrees lower.

It seemed like she had finally noticed his anger. Thus, Sally timidly picked up the bath towel and left. “Be careful! Call me if you need anything!”

Sally could not stop fidgeting after leaving the bathroom. Her eyes kept darting back in the direction of the bathroom.

The bathroom was a slippery place. What if he slipped and fell?

What if he was unlucky enough to die from that fall?

She just got married. She did not want to become a widow that quickly.

As she was feeling uneasy and anxious, her phone rang.

It was her bestie, Evonne Turner, who had sent her a video.

The video came with a tag that said ‘Learning Materials!’

Learning Materials?

Sally opened the message while grumbling internally about how it was still way too early for their finals. Why in the world would Evonne send her learning materials at this time?

She played the video, only to see a woman in disheveled clothing...

!!!

Sally’s face exploded into a burning red as she fumbled to turn off the video.

It was at this precise moment that her knock-off phone decided to lag out on her.

As she struggled to turn off her unresponsive phone, the bathroom door opened.

“Mmm…”

The second Elijah exited the bathroom, his ears were surrounded by mortifying sounds.

The expression on the man’s face darkened. “What are you doing?”

In her anxiety, Sally was already sweating buckets. The sudden question from Elijah nearly made her drop her phone onto the floor.

She was indescribably anxious, and just chucked her phone into the folds of the quilt.

“You…”

Elijah stared at her with a scowl.

“I’m… I’m watching a video on scrubbing!”

Sally clumsily sat herself down on the quilt, praying that it would be enough to suppress the woman’s voice from the phone.

Elijah’s exquisite facial features seemed slightly distorted. “...A video on scrubbing?”

“That’s right.”

Sally pressed hard on the quilt and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. “A man is scrubbing down a woman in the bath forcefully.”

“...” Elijah remained silent.

Perhaps she did not just think of him as a blind man, but an idiot too?

The room sank into a deafening silence.

The woman’s voice from the video came from beneath the quilt weakly. Meanwhile, Sally’s body that was merely clothed in underwear was pressed on the quilt in a hilariously strange position.

The warm yellow light from the stained glass lamp illuminated her dainty, slim waist, and her fair slender legs. The scene possessed a sense of sultry ambiguity that could trigger a palpitating heart.

Elijah’s breathing turned heavier as his gaze darkened.

Beads of sweat lined Sally’s forehead.

Today, she learned how tiring it was to press on a soft and fluffy quilt!

Thankfully, the video ended not long after.

She wiped the sweat off her head and fished out the burning phone from underneath the quilt.

The man sat on the edge of the bed and gave her a look that hinted subtly at a smile. “The two of them are done scrubbing each other?”

Sally smiled awkwardly. “Yes, I’m done watching the video…

“As expected, we shouldn’t use too much strength during a scrub.”

“...” Elijah was speechless.

Noticing a lack of response from him, Sally deleted the video guiltily and sent an angry message to Evonne: ‘You nearly got me killed!’

A second later, Evonne: ‘You’re biting the hand that feeds you!’

‘Didn’t you say that your newly-wedded husband is disabled?’

‘This adorable fairy went all out to find you a video! Have you learned them yet?’

Sally’s face burned bright red. Sally: ‘Die already!’

Since Elijah was blind, Sally did not bother to shield her phone screen from him.

Elijah read every message that traversed between her and Evonne.

Sally: ‘My phone lagged out on me as I was about to turn off the video! He heard the video!’

‘He even asked me what I was doing. Took me a lot of effort to lie my way through this!’

‘Thank God he’s blind! Or I would’ve died of embarrassment!’

Elijah was at a loss for words.

Evonne: ‘Haha, Sal, you’re pulling my leg!’

Sally: ‘Go to hell!’

Evonne: ‘One hour of spring night is worth thousands of gold. I shall excuse myself from obstructing you and your handsome blind hubby from doing real business!’

Elijah’s eyebrows twitched briefly -- handsome blind hubby?

What an awful name.

After taking a deep breath, Sally set down her phone and lifted her eyes to gaze at him. “Let’s start.”

The man reciprocated with silence.

The woman clenched her small hands by her sides.

She had known this man before her for less than twenty-four hours.

She could see that the man did not like her at all.

Yet...

Her aunt told her that they must do it during their wedding night, or they would never be happy!

She threw herself on Elijah’s body and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her pink lips clumsily planted a kiss on his cold, thin lips.

Elijah’s eyes turned a few shades darker.

The girl’s eyes were focused and serious, it seemed like she was resolved to become one with him.

The man’s hands clasped on her slender waist. “You won’t regret it?”

Sally nodded with a blushing face. “You’re my husband. I won’t regret it.”

Elijah looked at her with a gaze that had softened with a shred of gentleness.

His voice grew husky and restrained. “Can you bear the pain?”

“Yes.”

She pursed her lips. As she was about to take advantage of the moment and hasten the process, the man caught her wrists. “Let the man take the lead in matters like this.”

The next morning, two servants who were in charge of making breakfast pushed the front door to the Moses house sleepily.

“The new madam looks like a simpleton. Mr. Moses is blind and has a weak constitution. Do you think it went smoothly for them yesterday night?”

“Seems like things went well. I heard the bodyguard on duty yesterday night said that he heard the new madam’s voice.”

“For real? This madam seems quite innocent. Who would’ve guessed…”

The two servants gossiped as they walked toward the kitchen.

“Good morning!”

The round-faced young girl with a pair of round glasses placed two bowls of porridge on the dining table energetically. She wore a little pink apron around her waist. “You start work this early?”

All of a sudden, the atmosphere took an awkward turn.

The two servants exchanged glances, unsure of what to do.

After confirming that she did not overhear their conversation just now, the two servants hastily went forward to take over the things in her hands. “Madam, why are you up so early?”

Sally smiled as she glanced at the wall clock, “It’s not early! It’s already a few minutes past six!”

She did not sleep well yesterday night, thus she woke up later than usual today.

The servants started to panic. Was the little madam disdaining their lateness?

The servants scrambled around to make breakfast, only to realize that the dining table was already lined with food.

There were hard-boiled eggs, some cold dishes, and several pies that were fried to a golden brown.

The servants were shocked. “Madam, these are…”

“I made them!”

Sally smiled happily. “ I didn’t know what my husband likes to eat. So, I made a little something that I usually make for my grandmother.”

After saying that, she trotted over to the servants and pushed a few pies in front of them. “I didn’t expect you to come this early, so I didn’t make any for you.”

“Why don’t… You two eat these first, I’ll go make more!”

After saying that, Sally turned around to head back into the kitchen. The two servants hurriedly stopped her. “There’s no need, Madam.” They were employed to cook breakfast in the Moses house every day. If Sally did everything they were supposed to do, and Mr. Moses was to find out about it, would that not mean losing their job? “Madam.” One of the servants started talking in a dissatisfied tone, “Aunt Leigh and I are in charge of breakfast here. With all due respect, you’ve just arrived here and a stranger to Mr. Moses’ eating habits. Please refrain from messing things up.” The other servant went along immediately. “That’s right. Aunt Zelda is right. Please refrain from cooking, Madam.” “Mr. Moses would not eat breakfast like this.” Aunt Zelda looked at the boring and tasteless breakfast made by Sally in contempt. “A person like Mr. Moses has always had milk, ham, and sandwiches for breakfast. Madam, don’t you think that the porridge and pickled vegetables that you pr

The man’s voice was as cold as an unforgiving winter. The atmosphere in the entire dining room nearly froze. With a plop, Aunt Zelda fell straight to her knees. Redness bloomed around her eyes. “I… I shouldn’t have said that to Madam…” Elijah was usually calm and forgiving as though void of any form of temper. However, if someone made him angry, nobody could withstand him. “But Sir! I didn’t mean any ill. I just didn’t want Madam to trouble herself with breakfast. It’s quite tiring…”Elijah smiled. He lifted his head to throw a light glance in Aunt Zelda’s direction. “So… Does that give you the right to simply ruin the breakfast a newly-wedded wife made for her husband?”Silence covered the living room for several seconds. Elijah’s words did not just manage to shock Aunt Zelda and Aunt Leigh. Even Sally stared at him with her eyes wide open. Elijah was… defending her? Aunt Zelda could not stop trembling from the shock. “Didn’t… Didn’t ruin… “We didn’t throw awa

After recovering from her thoughts, Sally scrambled to pick up her phone and squeezed out a smile at Javier. “Senior… You work here?” A smile flashed across Javier’s handsome face. He extended a hand fondly and ruffled Sally’s head. “How old are you now, and still as clumsy as ever?” Sally answered him earnestly with beaming eyes. “Twenty years old.” The man turned his head to the side as he laughed. “Why are you here at the hospital?” She pointed to the consultation room behind her and replied, “My friend is chatting with her cousin.” Javier lowered his gaze to look at the time. “It’s lunchtime now. Your friend should only come out after a while.”“I’m about to have lunch. My treat?” Sally pursed her lips as she considered his offer for a while before knocking on the door to inform Evonne. “Let’s go.” Javier led the way with a smile while Sally followed him silently. Sally’s crush on Javier started when she was in Year 2 Senior. That year, her grandmoth

The atmosphere in the villa grew tense.Elijah scanned the bottles of medicine that were arranged on the table. His eyes were several degrees colder. “So, Mrs. Moses did that for me. It is I who have misjudged Mrs. Moses.”Sally was not an idiot. She understood the insult as clear as day from Elijah’s words and his eyes. The man simply gave the butler standing next to him a gesture. The butler jogged over hurriedly and removed all of the bottles.Sally felt somewhat guilty. “You asked the butler to take all of them… It is because you don’t want to eat them?”She thought he was unhappy. The corner of Elijah’s lips curved upward in a smile that did not look like a smile. He said, “Eat first.”His voice was low and piercingly low. Sally felt like the air surrounding them became cold. Are you scared of talking to your brother-in-law?” He crossed his arms around his chest again. Although Wendell’s eyes were full of nothing but disgust and disdain, his voice sounded friendly and caring. “Elijah, your wife seems to be avoiding me here and there. I think there’s an eighty percent chance that she married you for another purpose.”As Wendell said that, his shrewd eyes seemed to be peering at Sally.Sally frowned and turned her body away subconsciously. That was when his eyes got more wilful. ————One year later. The wedding of Zoey Williams, president of Yoder Corporation, and Thomas Yoder, the young master of the Moses family, was held at A City’s grandest hotel. On the wedding day, Zoey wore a gorgeous wedding gown as she walked over to Thomas. She raised her head and smiled at him. “When I was a kid, Freya always said that I would have to marry her brother when I grew up.” “However, I realized that I did not like Elijah. I much preferred Sis Sally.” “Who would have thought that at the end of the day, I would still end up marrying Freya’s younger brother. As per her wishes, I’ll be taking care of her brother forever, and allowing her brother to care for me for the rest of my life.” Thomas smiled as he pulled her into his arms. “My beloved ZZ, I finally get to marry you.” Freya, carrying Frigg and sitting with the rest of the family, turned to exchange smiles with Bennett. The wedding was joyful and romantic. Everyone attending basked in the loving atmosp

I’ve enjoyed many years of lavish treatment at the lavish family, but I was discarded unceremoniously into the dust!” “Sally Summers, it’s all your fault! Everything is because of you!” “I won’t forgive you even if I become a ghost!” “Alright then, go be a ghost!” Elijah narrowed his eyes and raised a hand to grip Queenie’s chin. The hatred in his eyes caused Queenie to smile. “Elijah Moses, choke me to death if you have the guts to do so!” “If you can’t choke me to death, I have multiple ways to make life miserable for you!” “Your sister is just one part of my plan!” “You probably don’t know this yet.” Her lips curled upwards into a bloodthir

The woman lying in bed frowned and said in a weak, hoarse voice, “You are…” “I’m the woman who did it for a long time with your husband.” She sat down on a nearby chair and watched gleefully as the woman’s face turned increasingly paler. “You have a pretty bad memory, Mrs. Lucca.” “We just met the other day.” She shook her head as she spoke. “It makes sense, though. It’s only normal that a half-dead person would not have a great memory.” “Forgive me for being blunt, Mrs. Lucca. President Lucca told me that you don’t have many days left.” “When you’re gone, he’s going to leave his daughter and marry me.” The woman lying in bed turned pale as she shook her head and said, “Impossible… That’s impossible…” “Quincy, he…” “Nothing is impossible.” Queenie continued smiling a gleeful and flaunting smile. “In your dreams!” Quincy gritted his teeth together tightly. “I wouldn’t want you even if every other woman on the planet was dead!” The woman on the other end of the line laughed lightly. “You’re going to abandon your child because Freya Moses is dead?” “You planted your seed in my stomach.” Quincy gritted his teeth and was about to continue arguing when Elijah gave him a look. Quincy pursed his lips. “So, what do you want?” “Let’s meet up.” Queenie yawned. “Can you pick a place?” “There’s a cafe nearby the hospital.” Quincy sighed. “I don’t have much time for you, so don’t try talking nonsense after we meet.”“What a man you are, trying to ghost someone after you’ve slept with them.” The woman shrugged nonchalantly. “Alright. You can wait for me. I’ll be there soon.” She hung up. Quincy pursed his lips and looked up at Elijah. “Why do you want me to meet her?” “You’ve got to have some bait if you want to trap someone.” “This time, Quincy, you’re the bait.

The sharp end of the knife sank into Quincy’s skin. Intense pain came, but he did not seem to feel a thing as he continued pushing. Suddenly, a large, strong, and dry hand took hold of him. Quincy frowned as he tried to continue forcing the knife in, but he could not exert any more strength. Elijah’s cold voice rang beside his ear. “Do you feel like my sister will live on for much longer if you die before her eyes?” “Have you ever thought about how much she likes you and how important you are to her?” Stunned, Quincy turned instinctively to look at Freya. The woman was sobbing controllably. As she gazed tearfully at him, it seemed that she had multiple things she wanted to say but could not find the words. Tears flowed once more from Quincy’s eyes. Ignoring the blood flowing from his chest, he dashed over to Freya and held her tightly. “It’s my fault.” “It’s all my fault!” “Freya… I can’t live without you.” “I cannot… I…” Freya could not stop herself from wr

After Freya was hospitalized, Quincy canceled all his work plans and spent all his time in the hospital watching over her. Although she never let him in, and although he could only ever gaze at her through the window from afar. However, he insisted on not taking even a step away from her ward. He stood guard there stubbornly, and no one could talk any sense into him. Both Elijah and Thomas could not bring themselves to chide or drive Quincy away when he acted this way. And thus, Freya finally agreed to meet him on the seventh day. The woman’s face in the ward was pale, and she was considerably thinner than from before hospitalization. She looked extremely haggard. Tears welled in Quincy’s eyes when he saw what his beloved looked like from a close distance. It was all his fault. It was all his fault! He had caused her to end up this way! All because of him!“Is there anything you would like to say?” Freya leaned against her pillows. Eyes shut, she seemed to have

Sally’s lips pursed themselves together when Freya’s name was mentioned. She would admit that she had had a horrible first impression of Freya when they first met. The woman had stripped nearly twenty years of Zoey’s life away from her. Even now, Zoey still bore the scars she had inflicted upon her on her face. And she had even attacked Sally’s mother during her and Elijah’s wedding. However, times had changed, and five years had passed since then. Sally could not bring herself to be cruel toward Freya, who now showed complete remorse. Additionally, she had treated Sam and Little Sarah with genuine kindness lately. Sally had begun to think of her as family. Yet, now, something like this happened. She sighed. “Freya…” “Freya will not be in great condition when she regains consciousness. You need to prepare yourself mentally.” Freya’s illness was in her heart. The sort of illness she had made it so that she could not be made angry, excited, or frantic. If not, not e

The only thing in the room they could use to fill their stomachs was instant noodles. When the door opened, Elijah frowned slightly when he saw his petite wife steadily making her way through a pack of instant noodles. The man strode over and grabbed her bowl. “Unhealthy stuff.” Sally had been enjoying herself and raised her head angrily when her instant noodles were taken away. “I don’t care if it’s not nutritious! Reaching out her arms, she encircled Elijah’s neck and jumped into his arms. “You’re back!” “I missed you so much!” He had been on his ocean trip for more than half a month. Given the condition the patient was in, if it weren’t for these two doctors, they would never have been able to save her! “Dr. Summers and Dr. Turner are amazing!” “Of course.” A senior doctor standing nearby smiled as he stroked his beard and said, “How did you think Dr. Summers earned her title of genius surgeon?” The young nurse’s mouth widened in surprise. “In that case… why are Dr. Summers and Dr. Turner no longer working as doctors?” The senior doctor sighed. “I guess they have their reasons…” In another corner, Evonne leaned against the wall, exhausted as she turned to look at Sally. “Dr. Summers, do you still plan to stay on as a housewife?” Sa
