I'm Ella, a wolf female. Why am I emphasising on the female part? Well, there's a lot to tell. But mainly because I am partly a human as well. By stating the human part, I'm not pointing towards the human form that every wolf has. I'm actually a breed.
These all started when I was 19. But before starting my story, let's go back to the time before I was born, in a mystical world. Where every part held its own significance.
My dad was an alpha male. But he willingly withdrew from the conclave for the throne of the lead alpha of the pack.
Generally the wolves used to live in packs in north. We would never go beyond the boundaries. None knew what was it like in east or west. Or even barely had any ideas about how the south was.
In north, where I was born, we used to live far away from the normal communities and cities, within a deep forest where barely anyone could reach. The humans and the wolves were not in good terms in north.
My dad lost his all desires and suffered from depression due to a sudden loss of his first mate. As he was an alpha wolf, he had the privilege to choose his mate alongside the fated one. He didn't choose though. When he turned 16, he met his first mate, Isabella. Yes, I am named after her.
But then when the Sapphire pack attacked us, she died in the battle. She was a perfect fighter and a perfect one to be a luna.
The Sapphire clan was our enemies for generations. If I considered that one particular region, the north, we might be the most powerful pack out there. The Sapphires were strong enough. Strong enough to challenge us.
In north, we wolves would never cross the boundaries and go to the human territories generally. The humans would also not interact with us. But I had always heard of the south. It was an even greater mystery to the commoners. Except for the ones who went there for training, no one had any idea how the south was like. There were lots of myths and themes about the south. It was said that the humans and the wolves were in terms of peace in south.
Anyway how my mother came to our pack and met my dad, I came to know the details way later. But about Isabella, none of my parents ever hid anything to me.
My mom was a human. She was a biologist. She came to this forest with her team to investigate a case of wolves suddenly approaching in the small human communities and killing people.
Those were probably the rogues who were causing all these chaos at that time. My father was always a dedicated fighter to this pack. Even though he lost Isabella, he didn't quit his job as a protector of the pack.
Though he never fought to be the alpha, but he was a high ranked wolf. Definitely he was worthy of being the alpha. And if he had taken the challenge, he could have easily won.
Even though he was continuously fighting with the Sapphires alongside the other wolves of our pack, he was in a great depression. Then one day, when they were on a run, my father found my mother unconscious, lying on the ground with injuries all over her body. My dad was so kind hearted that he couldn't leave my mom like that.
My mom's camp was attacked by the rogues, and all of her teammates were either dead or they ran away wherever they could to save themselves. Since my mom had lost her consciousness, the wolves probably thought that she was dead as well and left her there.
At first everyone in this pack was against the idea of allowing my father to enter the pack with my mother and her being treated by the medicos of our pack. But my father insisted and decided if they wouldn’t help the innocents, he would take rogue and leave the pack as well. He was the strongest of all the wolves in our pack at that time and the alpha knew, if my father had left the pack, it would have been impossible for them to stop the attack from the Sapphires. So the alpha allowed my mom's treatment.
So this is my parents tale of how they met. My mother helped my father to overcome his loss, and they fell in love slowly and my father decided to take a human as his mate.
The whole pack was against this decision. They seemed to dislike my mother forever. The oracle warned my father a thousand time that wolves and humans were not compatible. And they were quite right.
When my mom became pregnant, her body was so small and weak, also it wasn't sufficient for my body, the nutrition that I was getting from her. Also being a human and bearing a wolf child in her womb was life threatening to her.
But even after all these troubles, she managed to give birth to me. But it cost her a lot. From the beginning of the pregnancy to delivery, she suffered fatal internal injuries. And even though after that 19 years had passed already, she was still weak and completely living on bed rest with frequent internal hemorrhages.
My father was a brave warrior. He never lost his hope. He tried to support us with his everything and protected us from any obstacles. He never let me feel the disgusts and disappointments of the pack on me. But still I could tell. After all I was a weak wolf, weaker than the omegas who couldn't even shift properly. But I was still living with the higher ranked wolves which caused a lot of disliking.
Since my mother was a human, I wasn't sure what I was. An alpha or a beta or an omega? Part of me was human. My fragile body was the biggest proof. It wasn't strong enough to control the fierceness of my wolf. Changes occurred in my insides as well. My wolf seemed to grow separate senses and thoughts apart from mine.
I named my wolf Lexa. Unlike any wolf, Lexa was unique from a young age. She could talk to me, interact with me. Sometimes I would feel like she was a separate entity sharing my body, but most of the time I would act how she wanted.
But due to my weak body, I was not even able to shift whenever I wanted. Also, I couldn't fully control my body. It should have been like two forms, one soul. But my body was more like, two species sharing the same body.
Literally due to the choices that my father made, we would have been considered as rouges and would be kicked out from this pack a long time ago.
But because of my father's strength and war strategy, they never took that step. Even we were living within the royals as I mentioned earlier. I could always tell how much they hated my mother and me just by their stares. But they wouldn’t overexpose it just because my father was an alpha. Otherwise they would have demoted me to an omega a long time ago.
In this pack the royals or more precisely the alpha and his officials used to live in the valley. Then the general betas or the fighters who lived in the downtown. And then there were the omegas. They lived at the end of the pack areas. Most of them were labours. Some were scholars as well. But that never helped them to improve their status. I always hated this caste.
My mother was sick all the time. I can't say we were a healthy family. But a happy one? Might be.
I can still remember that day. I woke up in the morning earlier than usual. Birds were chirping sitting at my window frame. Sweet morning breeze was coming to my room. A beautiful smell of pancakes were coming from downstairs.I saw a very young couple was enjoying themselves from my window. They looked so lovey-dovey. I was looking at their little sweet moments. I was 19 and still mateless, though generally wolves would find their mates after turning 16. After a while I heard my dad's voice coming from downstairs calling my name. I quickly got up and freshened myself. I never wanted them to see me hurt or worried. I never wanted them to think that being mateless was depressing me. As I was a half wolf and a half human, I wasn't a heavenly beauty
I went to the senior oracle's tent. No matter what happened, the oracles of a pack wouldn't leave their tents. They would live separately from the other wolves."Isabella," the old woman sitting in front of me called my name. She was the oldest oracle in our pack. Even after aging for more than 100 years, her eyes were still clear. A spark of intellectuality was shining through them."Ella. Ella is fine," I said politely."Sure, Ella. So you might know that you were living in the royal valley because of your father's status don't you? " she asked calmly."Yes," I replied politely again. I already knew that this was coming."Now that he is no more, May God rest his soul in peace, It's a heavy loss for us as well. As you're his daughter, we have a soft corner for you. But due to the condition of your wolf and your skills, it is not possible for us to consider you as a royal anymore. So even if we want
The next morning all the omega females got a call by the curvey, scary looking woman who was the head of the omega girls. She was a beta wolf. "We need flowers for tonight's banquet. But the flower shops and the gardens are already destroyed in the downtown, we need people to go to the woods to collect flowers for tonight's decoration," she was describing the tasks very casually."What?!! " but a stir of panic flowed through everyone. Who would go to the woods to die? People started murmuring."Banquet?" I asked in low voice."Yes, Don't you know? The Alpha is throwing a huge banquet tonight for the celebration of the prince's return," June replied whispering."As you all can see, we can't mess up with the cooking, so people who are directly involved with preparing the recipes can't leave," the woman continued. "You there!" she suddenly pointed her index finger towards me, "you, you an
I followed Alex to the top floor. Where the alpha and his family lived. The upper floors looked so expensive, totally different from the first floor. The discrimination was screaming through every bricks. Finally we stopped in front of a massive black door. Alex asked me to go inside. I nodded and was about to knock at the door, but found out that it was open already. I slightly pushed the door and it opened. It was completely dark inside.Just when I kept my foot inside, I was grabbed quickly and pushed against the door. I felt a weight on top of my body. A hand clicked the knob beside me to lock it from inside. The intoxicating fragrance of lotus flower and heavy breaths were falling all over me. My wolf was almost losing its mind. I was still pressed against the door. I could feel Zen struggling with his wolf to keep it in his control.Suddenly he asked in a hoarse voice, "What
I really wanted to get away from the pack. I realised that I was wrong before. I should have left the pack when my father told me to. I was deep in thoughts regretting. Suddenly I heard a knock at the door. It was locked from outside so I was wondering who it was. The door opened afterwards and Zaden came to my room. Finally after a long time I met Zaden who was like a family."Oh Ella! I heard everything. I am sorry, even though I promised your father that I would take care of you, I couldn't even meet you when you needed a family. But you are not alone anymore. Whenever you want to leave this pack, I will help you. I said this before, you remember? " he asked."Yes, I remember," I replied. "Do you want to leave now?" he asked again. "I can get you out of this pack tonight.""Yes, please!! Help me," I pleaded. "Okay, stay alert. Tonight I'm getting
My breath was getting heavy. A sweet smell was hitting my olfactory nerves making my head dizzy. Strong arms were preventing me from going near Edward. He was struggling on the ground, a strong, big white wolf above him pinning him down on the ground, keeping him away from coming towards me.My senses were fading, my eyes were getting heavier, Edward's screams were now barely reaching my ears. I wanted to help him, I wanted them to stop. But my peripheral nerves were losing their abilities. Slowly I fell on the arms. When I finally got back my senses, I saw a beautiful artwork on the ceiling. It was so aesthetic and surreal, sophisticated furniture surrounding the room. Beautiful white curtains with rich embroidery on them. I was still feeling drowsy. I was not being able to remember exactly where I was. Suddenly my senses hit me all at once. I quickly got down from the king sized bed. I looked outside through the window.
I was born and brought up in this pack. From a young age I realised that I was different. I knew that I was not strong like others in my pack. But my father being a royal always saved me from being treated as one I never wanted to be facilitated over others. But my mom and dad used to always give their everything to protect me. Even though my father was a person of morales but even he couldn’t excuse himself from the fatherly love. I was always so distant from the pack responsibilities that I started to believe that there was nothing that this pack needed me for. In the past few years with Edward, I felt loved, I felt wanted, important. I spent my days well. But he made me realise one thing that I wasn’t born just to be judged by someone else's scale. I had my own role to play in this life. All the past memories were flowing in my head like a reel. I was moving forward to the throne. Everyone in the hall mov
I saw someone's hand grabbing the butt of the knife and pulled it out from my arm. I screamed in pain. I was bleeding heavily. The whole hall went silent. Everyone was shocked. I was again forced to get up. I looked into the person who just attacked me and was still grabbing my injured arm right where I was bleeding.A very beautiful girl with ocean blue eyes, matching her pale white skin and pitch-black long hairs were touching her knees. Her clothes were ancient-looking. That white piece of clothing that was wrapping her whole body was making her look like a goddess from an ancient myth. But her action startled everyone. Even Zen was taken aback by her sudden behaviour."Claire! You are going too far. Leave her hand, " the oracle ordered."Tsk- How dare you to put your filthy hands on my mate, you b! tch?" she asked ignoring the oracle."Mate?" I asked back confusedly. My arm was hurting like hell. She was still applying p
"What do you want?" I coldly asked, sharply staring at Claire. Claire only smirked. Her wicked smile annoyed me to the core. "How did you get out of the pack house so fast?" I asked again, skeptically. It was barely a few hours since we left the pack. The war didn’t appear like it would come to an end so early. If my pack attacked from the pack house according to the plan, it would still require Claire more than hours to catch up to my speed, unless she followed me at the same time I left the pack. However, I couldn't comprehend how was that possible. I saw Claire entering the pack house."I appreciate your strategy," Claire said, chuckling. She continued, "That was cunning, I must accept. Even though you saved the pack from the massacre, do you think the pack is foolish?" Claire smirked again. On the contrary, I was completely quiet with Edward standing behind me. "You can fool the pack. You can fool Zen. But not me," Claire said."I don't think I have anything left to expla
"Shush," Alex hushed, placing his index finger over his lips. The cave had opened into the woods on the other side, just above the tunnel that we used. The war hadn't concluded. The intensity of it made the ceiling of the cave shake violently. After walking for a while, we discovered the exit, covered in thick bushes. Alex began to move them to the side rapidly. Edward and I helped him to make it fast. As far as I could fathom, we were just outside the pack wall that was destroyed earlier. We came out of the tunnel, in an open space. The sky was covered with dark clouds. The moon wasn’t visible, making it even darker. We looked back to find the sea of blood, and the corpses lying on the ground. The entire scenario appeared as an absolute horror. "You need to leave," Alex said calmly.I only nodded. "Take care of her," Alex turned to Edward and said. "Thank you so much," Edward said. "I doubt I could save my wife alone if it wasn't for you." "Now, hurry up," Alex said, ignorin
Sounds of brutal confrontations and growls were coming from outside. The palm over my mouth stifling me was slowly withdrawn. Edward was right in front of me. However, he was calm. I turned back to come face to face with Alex. We were in a sort of cave that appeared to be hidden within the bushes. "Why are we here? Is it inside the pack? I never saw this place before," I stared at Alex and said. "We are in the pack. But no one knows about this place. You are safe here for now," Alex said. "What is your intention behind bringing us here?" I inquired Alex skeptically. "He helped me before," Edward said. I turned to Edward and then to Alex, getting confused."Can anyone explain?" I asked. "Zen sent an assassin to kill me last night," Edward said. "What? Why would he do that? He was aware I wouldn’t cooperate with them if something bad happened to you," I said."They planned to kill you as well," Alex said. "They decided to apply force if needed. They didn’t need Edward or your co
"I can help," I said. Everyone stared at me in disbelief. "How?" Zen questioned. "Not gonna save your ass to get killed," I answered calmly. Zen stared at me coldly, clenching and then unclenching his fists. "You will not die," Zen said, attempting not to illustrate his annoyance. "Neither will he," I said, pointing to Edward. "You are not in a position to deal," Zen said, staring at me bitterly."You neither," I retorted calmly. "Either we all die here, or you can take the deal and live." I was aware Zen would break. The sound of the war drums was almost at the door. The entire pack was in chaos. There was nowhere to run and Zen was required to act rapidly. Fighting back was not even an option. "Why should I trust you?" Zen asked, clenching his fists. "What sorcery can a weak breed like you offer?" "You are wasting your time, Zen. She is only good at getting people killed. Do you believe a weakling like her can do anything?" Claire interrupted, attempting to manipulate Zen
The winning trumpet broke the awkward silence in the arena. The officials from the brunette's pack stared at their precious lady's corpse with widened eyes. A satisfactory smirk appeared on Zen's face. Claire climbed the stairs to the Luna's sacred throne. But an unrelenting groundhog day was awaiting that no one fathomed. "You people killed her!" suddenly one of the officials from the brunette's pack cried out. Claire halted midway. The man's outrageous scream drew everyone's attention. "You.Killed.Her," the man said, getting enraged. "She asked for it," Claire answered calmly. There was no change in her expression as if killing the girl was nothing. "Actually, no," Claire said again, beckoning."You people asked for it. You refused the proposition in the first place." Claire came down the stairs, standing before the man."Was it you who planned it? " Claire mysteriously asked the man, leaning and bringing her face close to the man. The guy appeared unprepared for her questio
Claire and the brunette girl shifted into their wolf forms. The intense fight commenced shortly. The enthusiasm of the fight was encrusting the whole arena. The mystery that everyone appeared to know was still encircling my mind. If the other packs were fighting to have the position of the luna in our pack, then there had to be some sort of significance. The loud cheering pierced through my eardrums, hitting my vestibules so hard, making me lose my equilibrium. The ruthless, crude blows of claire placed lethal injuries on the other wolf's body. The brunette retaliated, not wasting a second. The crowd cheered from both sides. My state of dizziness made me fall back to my knees. Ed strived to come to me, panicking. However, he got impeded by the strings. On the other side, Alex stood by me, dumbfounded. "Are you alright?" Alex questioned, rapidly kneeling by my side, getting anxious. "What happened? Are you feeling unwell? I can take you to the Alpha's room till the fight ends, you
When I came out of the hall, I finally got the chance to pay attention to my surroundings. Surprisingly I wasn't being held as a captive anymore. The constructions had changed so much in the past few years. But there were way more people outside than I imagined and it was quite clear by their attires that they weren't from this pack.Even though no one was with me to put cuffs on my hands but there was a feeling of continuously being watched. Guessed I was a prisoner after all.And so looking for Alex still made sense more than trying to free Edward by myself. Besides all the people were moving busily. It seemed like they were preparing themselves for a festival.Alex had vanished without a trace. I never saw him after that morning's little argy-bargy."I guess he is only good at appearing in exasperating moments," I thought."Hey, you girl! Keep that bottle away right now!" A man with a flabby stomach came out o
