Chapter 3 I Want This

Joey quickly gathered herself and said, "Just give me a moment. I'll be right there." She applied a light touch of makeup to conceal the dark circles under her eyes, changed into a sleek, professional outfit, and slipped into high heels before heading downstairs.

As she spotted the familiar figures snuggled up on the lobby's sofa from a distance, her steps faltered. The smile on her face vanished instantly. There was no way to slip away now.

Zachary frowned when he saw her. He stood up and strode over. Then, he grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him.

"Joey, you've really got some nerve to track me down here."

Joey pursed her lips and frowned. The divorce was imminent, and she didn't feel like explaining any misunderstandings.

She shook his hand off and politely smiled. "Mr. Gray, I'm at work. Please behave properly."

Zachary scowled as he retorted impatiently, "Running short on cash that you need to work as a shopper now?"

Joey let out a sarcastic laugh. He knew about her talent in design. She had never hidden it from him, but he never paid her any mind. He even thought that once she left him, all she could do was to work as a shopper.

"We're getting divorced soon. I have no reason to be embarrassed for waiting on others. Are you not worried that Ms. Fisher might misunderstand the situation?"

They had been secretly married for three years. But Julia probably didn't even know who she was.

Zachary's ears perked at the mention of divorce. His face turned cold. "What divorce? What nonsense are you talking about?"

Joey glanced at him. He had been so preoccupied with Julia that night that he probably didn't even hear what she said.

He usually didn't go home, so he likely hadn't seen the divorce agreement she had left for him. It was her mistake.

She broke free from Zachary's grasp and tried to remain calm. "It's nothing. The divorce agreement will be sent to your company tomorrow. Remember to sign it."

Zachary was about to ask more when Julia hurriedly ran from the lobby to his side with a sweet smile. "Zac, what's going on?"

Zachary immediately changed his tone. "Nothing. Why did you come over?"

Julia nestled against him, cooing with a soft, doll-like voice, "It's been so long since you came out. I just wanted to see you. Do you know her?"

Zachary's voice was cold and indifferent as he replied, "I mistook her for someone else."

Three years of marriage, and he only acknowledged her as a stranger. Joey gave a bitter laugh but didn't bother to argue.

She was about to leave when Julia, arm in arm with Zachary, came up and said, "It's fate that he mistook you for someone else. We're here to support your business."

Julia added, "Could you show us Chloe's wedding dress?" Despite her recent change of heart, Joey froze.

Was he in such a hurry? They were still in the middle of a divorce, and he was already planning to marry Julia?

The wedding dress Julia mentioned was the only design for a wedding dress that Chloe had created in recent years. It was on display in the Emmen store with a high price tag.

Everyone in the studio understood it wasn't for sale, as it was a custom piece that Joey crafted as a reminder of Zachary's unfulfilled promise.

After a moment of hesitation, she reluctantly guided the two to the coveted wedding dress. Watching Julia's excitement, Joey took several steps back and her face fell.

Julia pointed at the wedding dress in the display case. "I want this!"

Zachary nodded expressionlessly. "Sure, give it a try."

The assistant cautiously reminded them, "Sir, this particular design is not for sale to the public ..."

Before she could finish, Joey interrupted, "It is for sale, though it's a bit pricey at 7.18 million dollars."

Julia hesitated upon hearing the price.
