Kane has been sifting through Stella’s mom's journal for the past few hours without saying a word and I can’t help but wonder what’s up with him.

“You know you don’t have to keep reading it forever.” I say and place my hands on his shoulders from behind the couch. I bend my head till it’s seated on his shoulder and look at the page he's reading.

“That page is the only page that relates to Emaine.” He says and stands up.

He throws the book away and starts walking up and down.

“Kane calm down.”

“Aurelia, I love you but you have no idea how someone is meant to react when they find out their mother is not who they thought she was.”

He’s breathing heavily whilst pacing. I hug him from behind and feel his body relax. He lets out a breath and turns around. He hugs me.

“Thank you. I need this.” He whispers into my ear.

“I think it’s time we go see Daniel because this is a dead end.” I say.

“I think we should go back to Rome.” Kane lets me go.

“What, why after coming so far?” I
