Jesse

I didn’t know what had gotten into me but the moment I saw her beautiful smile, my feet grew a mind of their own. I just found myself walking towards her, throwing all my inhibitions in the process. I thought it was all on me until I felt Vigo’s presence. I realized that we both wanted to do this, making me a bit braver in doing so.

I pulled my mate’s waist and tilted her chin up. The next thing I knew, my lips were pressed into hers. I had tasted multiple lips before but nothing compared to hers. It was sweet and addicting, something that I would never stop craving for the rest of my life. It was nothing like I imagined, only a thousand times better.

I knew everyone’s eyes were on us at that point but I simply didn’t care. As I let go of her lips and stared at those beautiful orbs, I whispered, “Mine. All mine.”

The world seemed to come to an abrupt halt, time freezing in its tracks. My heart pounded in my chest, the suspense thick in the air. A few seconds passed, and just as my mate was about to utter something, a small cough escaped my mother's lips, piercing through the tense silence, and demanding our attention.

"Ahem. I believe it's time for all of us to gather in the kitchen and share a meal. There's certainly much to discuss," my mother declared, her words carrying a hidden meaning that caused a surge of warmth to rise to my cheeks. I knew exactly what she was implying.

Feeling a mix of embarrassment and regret, I instinctively reached up and tenderly caressed the back of my head, my voice barely a whisper as I confessed, "I'm sorry, I got carried away."

A soft chuckle escaped my mother's lips upon hearing my admission. "Oh, you certainly did," she replied, amusement lacing her voice.

Meanwhile, the rest of her family remained eerily silent, their expressions unreadable. The absence of formalities only served to intensify my growing anxiety. It was difficult for me to discern their true thoughts and feelings about the situation. Thankfully, my mother, a beacon of guidance, was present to steer us in the right direction. The truth was, I felt completely disconnected from myself at that moment as if I had transcended my usual state of being.

As we sat down to eat, the atmosphere was heavy with tension. My mother took it upon herself to introduce me to everyone and bring up the events of that fateful gala night, recounting the moment when I stumbled upon my destined mate and engaged in a conversation with her brother about orchestrating this gathering. And then, I heard her name again—Caroline, or Carrie as some called her.

Such a beautiful name!

The room fell into a hushed silence as everyone listened intently to her captivating words. But my attention was solely fixated on her as if nothing else mattered. Her perceptive father took notice.

Suddenly, he turned to me, his eyes filled with curiosity and concern. His question hit me like a ton of bricks, catching me completely off guard. "Do you accept my daughter as your chosen mate?"

“Dad!” Carrie quickly objected, her discomfort evident on her face. I didn't want her to feel any less important, so I answered with utmost conviction. "Sir, I adore your daughter. The moment I laid eyes on her at that party, she stole my heart with her grace and beauty. She's everything I've ever dreamed of and even better than my wildest expectations."

The room held its breath, waiting for her father's response. I met his gaze with unwavering determination.

"I would do anything to protect her and make her happy," I declared passionately. "She's not just my chosen mate, but I also want to make her the Luna of my pack. I promise to love and cherish her for eternity."

My words hung in the air, heavy with significance. They were a testament to the depth of my commitment. Now, I anxiously awaited her father's verdict, feeling a mix of hope and apprehension, as our future hung in the balance.

The tension in the room reached its peak as her father's piercing gaze shifted to her. His voice carried a sense of expectation, his words hanging in the air, pregnant with anticipation. "And what about you, Carrie? Are you willing to give this pairing a shot? Do you want to see where it goes?"

My heart skipped a beat as I watched her, searching for a glimmer of assurance. With a shaky hand, she reached for a glass of water, seeking solace in its contents. Her response, lacking the enthusiasm I had hoped for, came out cautiously. "Y-Yes, Dad. I'm willing to give it a try."

Try. That single word echoed in my mind, stirring a whirlwind of uncertainty within me. Should I find comfort in her willingness to give us a chance, or should I be concerned by the hint of doubt in her voice? We were destined to be mates, bound by the threads of fate, yet her hesitation pierced through me. It hurt. It hurt so much.

I couldn't help but notice Carrie's reaction as we stood there. She didn't say a word, and suddenly everything clicked. The excitement I felt being around her wasn't reflected in her vibe. She seemed distant, and it baffled me. Wasn't she happy that we finally got together? Why didn't she share the same level of joy as me?

Confusion and frustration flooded my mind. I just couldn't wrap my head around what was going on.

My mom, picking up on the heavy atmosphere, decided to break the ice. "Well, maybe it's time you two had some alone time to get acquainted," she suggested. She signaled for Carrie's dad and brothers to step out, and the maids quietly made their exit, leaving us alone in the room. Carrie played along, going with the flow, but I could tell something was bothering her beneath the surface.

As the door shut behind us, trapping us in that private room, I felt myself wrestling with the mounting uncertainty that was starting to take over.

Finally, I mustered up the courage to speak my mind. "Can I ask you something?" I ventured.

Carrie lifted her head, her brow creased in curiosity. "Hmm?"

I took a deep breath, preparing myself for what I was about to say. "Aren't you happy to be here?"

Her response was shy, almost hesitant. "It's not like that," she answered, her gaze lowered.

Confusion gnawed at me, and I couldn't hold back my question any longer. "Then what's wrong? Why does it seem like you're drifting off and not interested in any of this?"

This time, it was her turn to take a deep breath. "Are you sure you want to know?"

"Of course," I replied firmly.

"The truth?"

"I want the whole truth," I insisted.

"Okay," she said, gathering her courage. "I wasn't expecting to meet my mate."

"Neither was I, but fate had other plans," I interjected.

"No, let me explain. I'm just not interested in finding my mate."

I was taken aback by her honesty. "I'm sorry?" I stammered, trying to process her words.

"I mean, I'm not interested in finding my mate because, well..." She paused, lifting her head to meet my eyes, and dropped a bombshell that shattered my world. "I'm in love with another man."

CarrieI went here with one goal in mind, to use the alpha of Silverfang, Jesse Morris, to make my ex-boyfriend jealous.Vera, my wolf spirit, was upset. She hid away in the depths of my mind, refusing to communicate. But I paid no attention to her. She knew me well. My inner wolf understood that I was determined and persistent. I always pursued what I desired, unshaken by my father or my overprotective brothers. But one kiss changed everything. I am no virgin. I wasn't inexperienced when it came to kissing and pleasuring a man. I could proudly say that I shared all my firsts with just one man—Noah. This was uncommon for she-wolves, you see. We were expected to remain pure until we discovered our destined mate. We were supposed to remain chaste until we met them. That was the general expectation, but not mine. I had always been different. I rejected conformity and established my own rules. My body, my choice. Consequently, many members of our pack despised me for being so open-minde

Carrie"I know. It's your alpha, right?"His words hit me like a sudden gust of wind, leaving me momentarily stunned. How could he possibly know about Noah? The realization washed over me, connecting the dots with my brother's late-night conversation with this man. "Did my brother tell you about me and Noah?""Yeah.""What else did he tell you?""Everything."My lips pressed tightly together as a lump formed in my throat. It felt unjust. This stranger, who knew every intimate detail about me, remained a mystery to me, save for his name. The weight of our circumstances bore down on me, amplifying the intensity of the moment. I locked eyes with him, drawing in a deep breath before gathering the strength to continue."Now that you know, I guess this is goodbye.""What? Why?" His eyebrows furrowed in confusion."Seriously? I just confessed my love for another man. Are you trying to tell me—""I accept it," he interrupted, brushing aside my words as inconsequential. "It doesn't matter.""

CarrieI sat in the room, surrounded by walls that felt like they were closing in on me. Anger and frustration swirled within me, intensifying my desire to escape this place. I refused to go out and face the world at Silverfang. The mere thought of it made my blood boil. Being forced to stay here against my wishes was the thing I hated the most, and the fact that Jesse, my so-called mate, had conspired with my family only made it worse. But the biggest blow came when my spirit wolf, the one I had always relied on, betrayed me by refusing to help me leave. I felt utterly alone in this unfamiliar territory, with no one to turn to for comfort. I felt so alone. Just when I thought I couldn't bear it any longer, a knock on the door disrupted the suffocating silence. It was Nancy, Jesse's mom. She had done nothing wrong to me and always made me feel welcome since I arrived here, so I hesitantly allowed her into the room. As she entered, her warm smile and compassionate eyes met mine. Her

You should take a rest." I mustered a grateful smile and replied, "I appreciate your concern, Nancy, but I think I need to reach out to my family. I want to call them if that's alright." Nancy nodded, her warm smile unwavering. "Of course, Carrie. I understand. Come with me, I'll take you to Jesse's study. It's more private there." We walked in silence, and as we entered the study, she patted my back reassuringly. "Take all the time you need, Carrie. If you need anything, I'll be right outside." Closing the door behind me, I took a deep breath and surveyed the room. The familiar scent of Jesse enveloped the space, stirring conflicting emotions within me. I pushed aside those thoughts, determined to focus on dialing the phone. The aroma lingered, intoxicating my senses. It made my heart race and

Carrie As I closed my eyes, all I could think about was the impending impact of the creature rushing toward me. I braced myself for the strong force of hitting the ground or being wounded by its sharp claws. But to my surprise, none of that happened. Instead, a commanding voice made the creature come to a halt. "Thunder! Stop it, boy!" Everything unfolded rapidly. Jesse, holding the creature—a leopard—stroked its fur gently, calming it down. The once ferocious beast now sat on the ground, resembling a tamed creature, far from the image that had made me tremble. Concern filled Jesse's eyes as he tended to me. "Are you okay, Carrie?" "Y-Yeah," I stuttered, my gaze shifting to the leopard. "Is he... your pet?" "He's a friend. I named him Thunder," Jesse replied. He beckoned the leopard, and it approached him. Jesse patted its head, and the animal responded with affection. "I grew up with him. My dad brought him back to Silverfang after his prowl abandoned him, probably due to his sm

Carrie As expected, Jesse introduced me to the history of Silverfang through books and written accounts. Gradually, I began to understand why the people here cherished the current state of peace. It hadn't always been like this. Similar to other wolf packs, Silverfang's journey toward a peaceful existence was filled with challenges. From what I read, Silverfang used to be caught in the middle of a fierce war between two dominant packs in the region: Ashford and Ashville. This was due to its strategic geographic location. The previous alpha of Silverfang remained neutral during that time, causing the pack to suffer greatly for many years. However, everything changed when Alpha Crimson Morris decided to support Ashford. As a result, Ashford emerged victorious in the century-long war, and Silverfang became one of its subordinate territories. After another decade had passed, Alpha Klaze Rumini of Ashford granted Silverfang its freedom, recognizing the pack's significant contribution to

Carrie I sat on my bed, feeling a storm of emotions swirling inside me. Vera, my wise inner wolf, nudged my thoughts with her persistent voice. "You should go and apologize to him," she urged, her words firm yet compassionate. Frustration filled me as I accepted her advice. Deep down, I knew she was right. Swallowing my pride, I made a decision. "Okay, Vera. I'll apologize." Vera's presence within me seemed to ease, a silent support radiating from her. Gathering my courage, I prepared myself to face the consequences of my actions. But my plans to seek out Jesse was shattered when Nancy delivered unexpected news. Her words hit me hard. "Jesse left early with his warriors for an important mission," she explained, concern lacing her voice. “Did he not tell you about it?” My awkward smile was enough for her not to push the topic any further. This was one of the things I like about Nancy. She knew how to respect my privacy and would not push for something that she knew I wasn’t comfort

Jesse I was preparing everything for Liam. The time had come for him to return to Blackmoon after spending some time with me in Silverfang. As I gathered his things, a touch of melancholy washed over me. Our time together had been an incredible experience, and now it was coming to an end. "Make sure you don't forget anything," I reminded him. Liam nodded, a bright smile on his face. It had been two years since our battle with Corey, and we had all returned to our peaceful lives. My life had transformed into a colorful and joyous one since Liam had entered it. Carrie had finally agreed to let me be part of their lives as a co-parent with Liam. I had been making up for lost time and bonding with my son, and even the Silverfang pack celebrated his arrival the first time he set foot here. Jerick, although he hadn't forgiven me completely, was now civil and warmer with me. He had expressed his approval of me being in Liam's life despite everything that had happened between our packs, an

Our eyes locked, and a tense silence hung in the air. “Mr. Morris!” Liam shouted, making Corey twitch slightly on his side, silencing him with a tightened grip.
