It actually didn’t work.

Her rejection actually didn’t work.

This only means I was right all along; she was never my mate. True to her words, I do feel something whenever she is close by, but that is only because she is a witch.

I cannot deny that there is a huge part of me that does not believe that.

But it is not possible for her to be my mate. Edna died years ago, and second-chance mates weren’t real. They were nothing but myths. And even if there was a slight possibility that it was real, I did not want someone like Meredith as my mate.

She was in no way compared to Edna.

Meredith will never be able to take Edna’s place in my heart, and that is because Edna took that very same heart with her to the grave.
