Ryu opened the door to the studio for Yuka to come in first. "Thanks." Said Yuka shyly as she goes in. " Yuka!" Nato greeted as he walked toward Yuka and hugged her. "Guys, this is my cousin Yuka. Yuka these are my bandmates and friends Tomo and Ishi." Nato said. "Hi, Yuka!" Said Tomo. "Nice to meet you," Ishi said smiling from across the room where they were seating.
"We are about to finish the meeting. We are planning to head out and have dinner tonight. Do you want to come?" Nato asked Yuka. Yuka was hesitant to answer. "Of course, you have to. We need to celebrate you moving to a new apartment." Nato said smiling before Yuka could respond. "Did you just move to the city?" Tomo asked Yuka out of curiosity. "Yes, actually she is Ryu's new roommate," Nato explained. Ryu pretended to be busy grabbing things to avoid any reaction seen from him. "Really? You're in good hands then." Tomo said smiling with assurance and Yuka smiled back."Nato, you can wait for us outside with Yuka while we clean things up," Ishi said. "Okay. We will wait for you guys outside then." Nato said as he guide Yuka outside the studio. Ryu continued to organize things and not react. He didn't know how he should react. The last thing he wanted to do is make things uncomfortable for himself and Yuka.Tomo and Ishi knew that Ryu doesn't want to talk about how he ended up having Yuka as his roommate but they both knew that for sure it was all Nato's idea. Nato, Ishi, and Tomo looked up and respected Ryu. He was very talented, creative, disciplined, and cool-headed. The three of them all knew that Ryu dropping out was the best decision for him, as the school would only constrict and limit Ryu's creativity. The band has been earning some small profit from the small projects that Ryu was taking. Ryu wouldn't talk about things but he always has a plan and never miss to deliver what he promised. The five of them walk going to Mr. Tako's restaurant. Nato and Yuka catch up as they walk while Ryu, Tomo, and Ishi walk behind them. When they arrived at the restaurant they were greeted by Mr. Tako. "Welcome back!" He said smiling behind the counter. "Nice to see you again Mr. Tako!" Tomo said as the five of them took a seat. Nato and Yuka seating opposite Ryu, Tomo, and Ishi.Mr. Tako went to their table and took their orders. "By the way Mr. Tako, this is my cousin Yuka. She just moved into the city." Nato said. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Tako, my name is Yuka," Yuka said with a smile. "Nice to meet you too Yuka. Come drop by at the restaurant any time." Mr. Tako replied. Nato told Yuka that the four of them have been going here for almost three years now. Mr. Tako was like their mentor and the restaurant was the band's little sanctuary. All of them ordered ramen and beer. "How did you guys meet?" Yuka asked now getting more comfortable as they drink their beer. "Tomo and I were introduced by Nato to Ryu," Ishi said. "I met Ryu and we became friends when I was still studying Arts. After I shifted to Marketing, I met Ishi and Tomo. I found out that the two of them were in a band in high school, so I asked them if they were interested to join Ryu and they did." Nato added. "At first we were hesitant when Nato asked us," Tomo said teasingly. "But after Nato introduced us to Ryu, that's when we realized the potential of the band," Tomo said. "Not until we met Ryu, we never took Nato seriously," Ishi said jokingly, and they all laughed."Until when are you planning to stay in the city?" Tomo asked Yuka. "Probably a year or less. I had to move because of my internship as well." She said. "That's pretty short," Tomo said. "Yeh, I guess." Yuka agreed. "Well, let's make sure that we make the most out of it then." Tomo continued smiling and they all agreed and clink their mugs.Ishi, Nato, and Tomo continued ordering more drinks. "It's getting a bit late," Ryu said and Yuka looked at him. Ryu realized that they can't go out drinking the whole night when they are around Yuka. Nato looked at Ryu and realized what Ryu meant. "The two of you should head home," Nato said. Tomo and Ishi looked at each other confused. "Us?" Tomo asked. "No, I mean Ryu and Yuka." Ryu looked at Nato. "Aren't you coming with us?" He asked Nato. "No, you should go first. I will take care of everything here." Nato said and Yuka gave Ryu a nod. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Yeah. Just take care of Yuka." Nato said. "Okay, we will head first then," Ryu said as he grabbed his things and stood up. The group said their goodbyes before the two of them left the table. "See you next time Yuka!" Tomo shouted waving as Ryu and she walked towards the door. Yuka waved back and smiled. "Good night Mr. Tako," Ryu said before going through the door. The two of them walk in silence but grew more comfortable with each other's companion. "Ryu?" Yuka said breaking the silence. "Hmm?" Ryu answered without looking waiting for her to continue. "Do musicians sleep in the morning and work at night?" Yuka asked. Ryu made a small laugh at how random the question was. "I'm not sure. I guess It's different for everyone but for me, I work better at night. Probably because I started heavily creating music before I dropped out of college." He explained. "But doesn't that mess up with your body clock?" She asked. Ryu realized that the alcohol made Yuka loosen up and speak what was on her mind. "It does, not to mention the alcohol and cigarettes that are involved." He said smiling blankly. After they arrived home. Ryu and Yuka went straight to their respective bedrooms. The two of them were both tired and Yuka was already a bit drunk. Ryu waited a few minutes after Yuka took a shower before he went outside his room and took a shower. Ryu continued to work until the morning while Yuka went straight to sleep. That night Yuka went to bed and Ryu continued to work on an upcoming project proposal for the week. After a night out drinking with his friends, Ryu would usually continue working when he gets home. For him, the adrenaline and serotonin from the alcohol he consumed helped his creativity and productivity when creating music. Maybe that's also a reason why he never sees himself working in the corporate industry. It was three-thirty in the morning and Ryu is still working. He decided to take a break and smoke when he realized he was already out of it. He pulled out a jacket from his cabinet and took his keys and wallet before heading out to the nearest convenience store. There was still no sign of sunlight and that made him feel happy and productive at the same time. Happy that the sunlight wouldn't blind him from working in the dark and productive that he was able to do a lot before sunrise. When he arrived at the convenience store, no one was there
"Hey, Yuka!" Kumi greeted as she walked towards Yuka's desk. "Hey," Yuka responded with a smile. "Are you coming to the company dinner later?" Yuka was confused at first but remembered that her boss told her something about a company dinner but she was too busy at that time that she didn't even bother to pay attention and just nodded in response. "It's not like we have a choice," Kumi whispered with a laugh. Although it wasn't mandatory to attend the after-work dinner or party, there was already that unspoken rule that everybody needs to attend unless they are in a life-and-death situation that they need to excuse themselves. This applies strongly to interns and juniors within their company. Some of their bosses would just appear and drink a beer or two and leave. Yuka always envied the convenience that comes along with a higher position at work. How she wishes that could be her someday, having the option of whether to say yes or no to attending after-work parties. Kumi asked Yuka to
Ryu took the train on the way home. He walked the street on the way to his apartment. It was a cold night. He felt the wind blowing against his hot face. He smiled and liked how soothing it felt. When he arrived at the apartment, he pulled his keys from his pocket and entered. The lights were turned off as he walked in. Ryu wondered if Yuka was already on her way home and if he should have just approached her and asked her to go home with him. He took off his shoes as he turned on the lights. He walked inside and found Yuka sleeping on the sofa. She was still wearing the same clothes when he saw her tonight. Ryu immediately switched off the light and switched on the light in the Kitchen instead to avoid waking up Yuka. Ryu was about to go inside his room when he noticed that the windows were open in the living room and the cold was blowing inside where Yuka was sleeping. Ryu walked back to the living and closed the window. Yuka was all cuddled up on the sofa and looked like she was all
The bar they entered was nestled among a vibrant street full of other establishments, each showing off its unique ambiance at night. As Ryu and Yuka strolled through the lively crowd, they observed people lingering outside the various bars, engrossed in conversations, puffing on cigarettes, or quietly contemplating whether it was time to call it a night. The bar was just ahead, and Ryu gestured to the left, pointing out the entrance of the bar. With a shy expression, Yuka thanked him as he courteously held the door open for her. Upon stepping inside, Yuka discovered a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere that contrasted with the bar's facade. The majority of the tables were occupied, with individuals engaged in hushed conversations that exuded an aura of intimacy. It was a refreshing change from the typical rowdy bar scene where people simply sought to drown their sorrows in alcohol. Ryu surveyed the room, scanning for a suitable place to sit, while Yuka mirrored his gaze. After a brief mo
He reached into his pocket for money hoping that he had enough for the vending machine. There's no way he walked fifteen minutes just to get nothing. He felt one paper bill and some coins and pulled out the single bill from his pocket. He slipped it right into the vendo and pressed the button for the carbonated yogurt milk. He opened the can and started gulping straight away. As he was drinking he thought to himself how he should be working instead of wasting his time just on carbonated yogurt milk. Ryu is twenty-three now. His parents sent him away to college when he was twenty years old by himself. His parents were not rich but they provided everything that Ryu needs. His parents were expecting him to graduate within a year from now but it seems that won't happen any time soon or ever. After Ryu was sent away to college to take Arts majoring in music, he straight away dropped out of college after just one semester. He was living in a two-bedroom apartment with his classmate Nato. Na
"Buzz.. Buzz.." Ryu was woken up by the doorbell ringing. He reached for his phone and checked the time, it was only nine in the morning. He was supposed to wake up around two in the afternoon. After drinking out with Nato last night, he wouldn't even bother to eat breakfast. He wondered if he had any deliveries or anyone coming over but he was still too sleepy to even bother thinking. "Buzz.. Buzz.." He heard the doorbell ring again and that's when he decided to get out of bed. Ryu went out of his room and is struggling to open his eyes to the brightness coming from the windows. Ryu likes to sleep in the dark since he usually starts sleeping after sunrise. He went to the monitor and asked who it was. "Good morning. Sorry to bother you this early. I'm Yuka, you're new roommate. I tried calling Nato since he was supposed to take me here, but he wouldn't answer so I just went straight to the address that he gave me." How irresponsible can Nato be at this point? It was his idea to drink
