SOFIA'S POV

I had always known Mike to be a vicious, and witty bastard, but not once did it cross my mind that he could be rebellious, and a tyrant.

A deep breath escaped from my lips as I remembered how he was always begging and scouting to meet Dane, the Lycan king.

There was no way in the world I could forget that. Most nights, he would sing to my ears how lucky he would be to have Dane even spare him a minute of his time.

That same fool was rebelling against him now. Upset that I wasn't his anymore but the Lycan king’s? Thinking of it left me with mixed feelings; Happy and upset as well.

“Are you alright?” I heard a voice from behind. Even in the dream, I could never forget who it was.

“Yes, I am. What do you plan on doing to Mike now? He's openly chosen to go against you.”

“I'm going to summon him here to ask him about his refusal to obey my orders. As for the attack on the officials, I would have to launch an investigation to prove he's the one behind it.”

“And if the investigat

SOFIA'S POV “Why don't you let us drop this. We shouldn't be discussing about her. It isn't right,” Selene insisted. Her eyes flickered non-stop as she spoke.I had never heard her stutter before, but that moment, I did. “But I really want to know more about her. Dane mentioned her yesterday when he was drunk. He seemed quite sober as he spoke about her and it left me with so much worry. Would you blame me for that?”“I understand very much how you feel, but my stand remains the same. I'm sorry, but I'm not changing my stand.”I exhaled, rising to my feet. My hands ran through my hair as I paced around. Was there really nothing I could do to change her mind?Damn it!! That almost ran me crazy. No. I wasn't going to accept that, not while I was still breathing — still existing.“Fine then!! I'm going to find out on my own if you're not going to tell me.”She jumped to her feet, her hand resting on me, “You shouldn't do this, Sofia. Dane surely wouldn't like what you're planning on do

DANE'S POV I was still in Sofia's arm when a knock rang on the door. It was cold and subtle. I froze, my gaze fixed on the door. “Who's there?” I cried aloud, a bit upset. Of all times to be disturbed? When I was having the best of moments?I stood, walking quickly. My hand turned the knob and there stood Raphael, his face stern.“I'm sorry to disturb you, my lord.”I grunted. “What brings you here? That look on your face tells me it's quite serious.”“Not really, My lord. There's someone looking for you— Mike.”I frowned. The moron wasn't as I thought he would. To think I had concluded he wasn't going to come after all.“That's good. I'll be there in a jiffy.” I slammed the door, quickly putting on my clothes. Sofia stared, confused.“What's going on? Who's there?” “Raphael. He brought news of Mike's arrival.” Sofia's countenance turned sour. Obviously, she was displeased, angry too.“So he came at last. Let's see what he has to say.” She got dressed as well, the silk cloth lookin

SOFIA'S POV Mike was in our custody now. Most definitely to be killed as a traitor. The joy this gave me— words couldn't explain it.I smiled to myself as the thought came to my my head again. I was seated by the table with Dane in front of me. My man, my husband. He seemed a bit gloomy, though it was only for a while. Gosh, he was damned handsome. I knew this, but seeing him now — he seemed much more handsome than ever.“I had just recently lost something important to me back then, a friend. He was the best of friends I had ever known, and had.”Watching Dane mutter those words made me feel much love for him. I knew now that he wasn't all that the tough man people knew him to be.He also had his weakness, his soft spot. A friend of his who was very dare to him made him black out for a year. I held his hands in mine, loving the feeling of it on mine. “You've got nothing to worry about Dane. I'll always be here by your side. You have nothing to fear for.”He raised that hand to his l

DANE'S POV I looked at Sofia, my wife, with great concern in my eyes. She was sitting next to me on the couch, but she seemed different. Her usual sparkle was gone, and she looked pale. Her hands were shaking slightly as she held her tea cup. She wasn't her usual self. I could see the change in her, and it worried me."Sofia, what's wrong?" I asked, my voice soft with concern. I didn't want to scare her or make her feel worse. She looked up at me, her eyes wide with fear. "Nothing, Dane. I'm fine," she said, trying to smile. But her smile didn't reach her eyes.I knew her too well. I could see the worry in her eyes. She was trying to hide it, but I could tell."Are you sure?" I pressed gently. I wanted her to know that I was there for her, that she could trust me.Sofia took a deep breath. "I'm just a bit tired, that's all," she said, her voice barely above a whisper."Tired?" I repeated. "You look more than tired. You look scared." I leaned in closer to her, my eyes locked on hers.

His lips were pressed grimly against each other as he ogled at me. I could see not only concern in his eyes, but love as well "I need to make dinner," I replied, smiling. The way I smiled, one would have thought my jaw would expand immensely because of it Dane's expression turned shocked. "You're going to cook?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. Raphael was just as shocked. Those two — arghh. I laughed. "Yes, I'm going to cook. What's wrong with that?" My lips pouted.Dane's face looked amused. "Are you sick or dying?" he joked, but his eyes appeared frightened too. I playfully rolled my eyes. "No, I'm not sick or dying. I just want to make something nice for when we get back home. Is that a crime?”Dane chuckled. "Well, I'm curious to see what you'll make. But be careful, I don't want you burn

SOFIA'S POV It was a quiet evening. The sun had already gone down, and the house was slowly filling with silence. I was sitting in the living room, hugging my knees, still thinking about the strange paper I found in my room earlier that day.The meal that had been served on the dinning table must be growing cold already.Suddenly, Dane called out, his voice loud and serious. "Everyone! Please come to the living room. Right now."His tone was different—firm and cold. I looked up quickly, surprised. One by one, everyone in the house came into the living room. Their footsteps echoed on the wooden floor. There was a strange tension in the air. Even the air felt heavy. It didn't seem like he was going to drop it. I couldn't blame him though. A death threat in the palace, and to his own wife?"What’s going on?" someone asked softly amongst themselves. It was one of the servants. Dane didn’t say anything at first. He waited until everyone was there. Then, slowly, he held up the paper."Thi

DANE'S POV I sat at my office desk, the morning sun shining through the tall windows. The room was quiet, just the soft ticking of the wall clock and the gentle hum of the air.Papers were placed neatly in front of me, my laptop screen was open. But I couldn’t even remember what I was supposed to be working on.I sighed and leaned back in my chair. “Come on, Dane,” I whispered to myself. “Just focus.”But my mind wasn’t listening. All I could think about… was her.Sofia.The way she had smiled at me that morning… so soft and full of hope. The way her hand lingered in mine before she left. The way Selene teased us, and how she had blushed and looked down shyly. She looked like a schoolgirl, yet so strong at the same time.I smiled to myself. My chest felt warm just thinking about her.I took a deep breath and ran a hand over my face.“She’s safe,” I muttered quietly. “She has guards. Selene is with her. There’s no reason to worry.”Still… I did. Not because I didn’t trust the guards

SOFIA'S POV I really did love it there—the school. The moment I stepped in, I felt it. Peace. Like a quiet song playing in the wind. The air was cool and smelled of fresh leaves and old books. The tall trees stood proud, their long branches dancing gently in the morning breeze. Birds sang somewhere nearby. The gardens were neatly trimmed, and every flower looked like it had bloomed just for that day.It was calm. So calm. And after everything that had happened in the palace—the fear, the shadow in the room, the tension—I needed calm more than anything.Selene walked beside me, her hands behind her back, looking around with her usual sharp eyes.“Nice place,” she said, nodding. “Quiet. Smells like nothing's ever gone wrong here.”“That’s why I like it,” I said, my voice soft. “For once, I want to feel normal.”As we walked past students and teachers, people turned their heads. A few girls stopped talking and just stared. One of them gave a small wave and smiled shyly.“Good mor

DANE'S POV I stood over his bleeding body, the weight of what I had done pressing heavily on me. His blood, dark and thick, pooled around him on the cold stone floor. The iron scent filled the room, and I could feel it in my nostrils, sharp and bitter, like a reminder of the choice I had made.My hands shook slightly, but not from fear—no, not fear. My heart raced with something different. .I had seen him, the Northerner, his eyes wild, his expression twisted with fury as he charged at me. He had wanted my life. He had come for me, just like I had known he would. The knife in my hands had stopped him—just in time. The gash in his belly was enough to slow him, enough to take his strength away. And now here he was, crumpled at my feet.I knew it wouldn’t sit well with the North. This was their man—one of their own. The anger, the rage, it would be loud, I was sure of it. But I didn’t care. Let them say what they would. Let them call it an insult, an act of war, whatever they wanted

DANE'S POV The next morning, I was walking through the halls when a guard came to me and said, “My Lord, the guest from the North wishes to speak with you. He says it is urgent.”I frowned. It was still early, and I hadn’t expected to see him until much later in the day. I nodded and followed the guard. When I reached the guest chambers, the man from the North stood near the window, already dressed and packed. His clothes were neat, but his face wasn’t calm like before. He looked… unsettled. His hands were tight at his sides, and there was no sign of his usual smirk or boldness.“You wanted to see me?” I asked, stepping into the room.He turned around quickly, almost too quickly. “Yes,” he said. “I must return to the North. Immediately.”I raised an eyebrow. “So soon? You said you’d stay a few more days.”He gave a stiff nod. “Yes. I did. But… something has come up. Very urgent.”I took a step closer, watching him carefully. “Is everything alright?” I asked. “You don’t seem like you

SOFIA'S POV That night, everything felt too quiet. The room was dark, the windows open just a little to let in the night air. The moonlight fell softly on the floor, and the box from the northern man sat on the table—untouched. I hadn’t opened it. I didn’t dare. Something about it still made my skin crawl.Dane had stepped out for a while to handle something with the guards. He said he wouldn’t be long. I told him I’d wait up.But now, alone in the room, I started to feel something strange. The air grew cold—colder than before. And then I felt it… a presence. Like someone else was in the room with me.I sat up slowly on the bed, my heart pounding in my chest. “Hello?” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Is someone there?”Silence. But then I saw it—a shadow moving by the corner of the room. It wasn’t the wind. It wasn’t my imagination. Someone… something… was there. My throat tightened. I couldn’t move. The figure stepped closer. I couldn’t see its face, but I could feel the danger. It

SOFIA'S POVWe sat around the large dining table, the man from the North taking a seat next to Dane. The food was laid out before us, but it felt like I couldn’t fully taste anything, my thoughts swirling too much to focus on my meal. The man from the North, with his rough, northern accent, started to speak as soon as he settled in, cracking jokes that seemed to fill the air with an awkward tension. Some of the jokes were lighthearted enough to make me chuckle, but most of them felt forced. I couldn’t help but notice how his smile never quite reached his eyes, how his laughter was hollow. "You know, in the North, we don’t need an alarm clock. We just let the cold wake us up. If you’re not shivering, you’re already late for the day!" The man cracked Dane laughed loudly, irritating me a bit. “Now that’s a wake-up call! I might just take that advice for the next winter.”I forced myself to take a bite of my food, but it tasted bland, almost tasteless. I chewed slowly, trying to make i

SOFIA'S POV I followed closely behind Dane as he led the way toward the room where the man from the North was waiting. My heart was beating fast, the unease in the air almost palpable. I had no idea who this man was or why he had come, but I could feel the weight of the unknown pressing on both of us.The man stood there, tall and bulky, his posture rigid. There wasn't a trace of a smile on his face. His eyes were cold, unreadable, like the stone walls of a fortress. His presence alone made the room feel smaller, more suffocating.I could swear I had never seen anyone so stern in my entire life. He looked like someone who had been hardened by years of battles, of survival. His gaze flickered briefly toward me, but only for a moment before he turned his focus back to Dane.Dane didn’t hesitate. He stepped forward with confidence, though I could see the tension in his shoulders, the way his jaw tightened as if preparing for something he couldn’t control. He greeted the man with a respe

I’d been up all night, staring at the ceiling, trying to figure out the next step. But for now, I knew what I had to do.I walked down the hallway to find her standing by the window, her back turned to me. She was looking out at the garden, her shoulders tense. "Sofia," I said, and she turned to look at me, her expression unreadable.I gave her a small smile, trying to ease the tension in the room. "I’ve made arrangements. You’ll be resuming school tomorrow, just like I promised."Her eyes widened. There was a brief flicker of shock, followed by a mixture of emotions—relief, fear, uncertainty. She opened her mouth, as if she wanted to say something, but then closed it again. "I know it’s a big step," I continued, walking over to her. "But it’s what you wanted, right? DANE'S POV The air in the East Wing was heavy. Thick with blood, fear, and silence. Mike and his lords were on their knees like I ordered. Some were bleeding from their mouths, others holding their ribs or wiping sweat from their faces. They looked broken—but not all the way. Not yet.I stood in front of them, tall and cold. Arms crossed. Face like stone. These were the same men who used to sit at my table. Drink with me. Laugh. Plan with me. Now, they were prisoners.Traitors.I looked at Mike, but he didn’t meet my eyes. I took a slow step forward. My boots made a loud thump against the marble floor. Then I said the words. “Remain loyal to me… or die.”Just like that. The words hung in the air like smoke. The lords immediately turned to look at Mike, like scared dogs waiting for their leader’s permission to breathe.Mike didn’t say a word. He clenched his jaw, but I saw the panic in his eyes.I walked toward him slowly, my voice calm but sharp like a blade. I stepped closer, now ju
