Chapter 2: Mr. Salazar

I woke up early hearing my secretary angry voice. It`s already been a routine I guess. Maybe you think it`s not normal for a boss to get scolded by her own secretary, but oh well. Who the heck can control Snow`s damn mouth? No one.

Ah, just that jerk.

Unfortunately for us, we met a jerks in our life. Fuck them all.

I`ve almost lost my first job before Snow agreed to become my secretary. She really didn`t want to, really. Because she knows how sleepyhead I am. My client got mad too when I got late once and he end up admitting his fault. Gosh, I almost defend a criminal! Back then, I don`t have the right to say no to every client, but now? I can.

It`ll be my boss lost if I quit here.

Despite of being late, I never lose any case yet. At first, nobody wants to pick me, well? Who would pick a lawyer who let his client admit his mistakes because she’s late and she`s so happy about it?

In just a year I became successful with my career. Of course having a successful career means many dangerous enemies. The reason why I`m avoiding bringing Yelena in public, she`s 3 years old so she`s not studying yet. When Drey is busy, I bring Yelena at my office and if I have a trial Snow takes care of her.

Drey is not the father. It’s a big no!

I`m not into red flags. And why would I settle for something that`s not for me?

Everyone thinks that we are in relationship. Well, it`s funny. When they ask us we just laughed. We`re just using each other.

I still think of him as my brother, even after what happened.

I arrive at my office exactly 8:30. Of course, Snow`s dagger eyes is the first thing that welcomed me. Wow, what a warm welcome. How nice of her.

“My schedule?”

“Talk with Mr. Salazar at prison. Lunch.” Again? Well..

“Talk with your client, the annoying one. 1 o’clock. At the famous Italian Restaurant” My forehead creased. That jerk again!

“That`s all?”

“Ahh, you might want to cancel this one.” I look at her, asking her to tell me why.

“They want you to handle that case.” I looked at her and she look back, waiting for my response but we end up just staring at each other and laugh.

“It`s a no then.” There`s this one case that is so very familiar with it, I don`t want to open an old scar by accepting that case. I pity the family, I almost accept it before but my memories stop me. Fuck life.

“Still remember your enemy when it comes to no lose rank? There`s a rumor that he want to take this case if you decline and use it to promote?” Oh. That man. Nobody saw his face except his secretary, but she said it`s only a glimpse! He always wear a hoodie and his early to come at work and late to leave the office! It`s seems like he is avoiding people! Everybody is curious about him.

Well, his really good. I saw him once in his trial, he made his enemy tremble and end up telling the truth! But unfortunately I didn`t saw his face. I watch him in the window, I mean I really don’t care about him, really. But the moment I heard that he has a trial and the idea that I might saw his face made me do that.

“Ohh, that`s good. That man is really good, he probably can win the case.”

“And if he did, Erica?” Snow does really me know me, huh.

“I might open that case, again. I won`t stop until she found justice.” She sighed, don`t like what I said.

“She won`t like it, Erica. She want you to be free, but you’re living your life for her.”

“Stop!” I shouted. I know that she`s right, it`s just my conscience won`t let me sleep. I know the truth. I know what I saw! If only I`m strong and powerful that time..

“Miss Lopez, the meeting.” Snow said. Waving her hands in front of me and she look pissed again. I laughed and fix the papers that I need and put in my bag.

Mr. Salazar is always wearing a stoic face. We usually call him stone face, but his a good person.

He was accused for killing and abusing his maid.

It`s frustrating cause his so rich but he doesn`t have any cctv in his house!

All clues is pointing to him! The knife, time, places, everything! He said that he was left alone with the maid, and that time he got mad at her for breaking his expensive vase. He only have 5 maids, one driver, one gardener, and one nurse.

They are all cleared except for him. But there`s this one person that is weird.

Everything that he said is weird, I didn`t know why the police believe that!

Sometimes they are really useless!

That`s why I always investigate secretly, of course! As long no one will find out then I`m safe.

Those who have money and power can buy justice. I hate it.

I hate how greedy people are.

I found a necklace which is similar to the dead girl.

One more clue and the case is over.

I just need to find that, then I can have a two weeks’ vacation!

“You didn`t forget something right?” I shrugged.

“I`ll let him tell the story again, maybe I missed something. And please, read the papers again and tell me your conclusion. Mr. Salazar is innocent.” She sighed.

“I`ve got the feeling that the real suspect have a connection, his powerful himself or his just expert when it comes to things like this.” I nodded. I gave her a paper and told her to check his history. I`ll give the others later cause that person is my main suspect.

“Ok.”

“Check Yelena for me and buy strawberry cheesecake, please?” She giggled and left me without saying good bye. That bitch!

I don`t know if they knew that I have a baby, it doesn`t really matter.

I wonder if he knew.

I don`t care. It`s much better if he think that way.
