It was Monday, and the kids had been taken to school by Ruby, Cameron had gone to the office, with Davey somewhere downstairs doing what butlers do. She grabbed a book from her room and walked back down the star is to go out into the garden to read it. Cameron’s house was really beautiful, both inside and out, with an amazing landscaped area that had trees lined one part, and a small canopy in another to create shade. Under the canopy were those laid-back chairs seen at the beach. In the middle were two pools, one for the kids and the other for adults. The place was really usually quiet which was why she love it here. She remembered Davey once mentioning that Cameron sometimes came out here to work, or read, but Ruby just couldn't imagine him being the laid back type that would pick up a book to read. Although she knew quite well it could be the same kind of books she usually read. Sighing, Ruby walked to the part of the place where a chair was placed directly under the sun and tho
After Cameron left, Ruby wasn't able to go back to reading, because her inability to concentrate was worse than before, so she went back into the house instead, making sure no one saw her as she went upstairs to her room. She couldn't afford to be seen by anyone at the house with what she had on. She had a quick bath, changed into a pair of blue jeans and a white top, with a flowery yellow jacket, and went downstairs to prepare lunch before going to Summer and Spring’s school to pick them up. Normally, it was Cameron’s driver that picked them up and dropped them at home, but now, he was busy according to Cameron, so she had to go pick them up. It had happened once before when she went to pick them up, so it was fine. No one would question why she was the one that came to pick them. Thankfully, she didn't get there late, she was right on time when the kids were just pulling out of their classrooms one after the other. As she walked to Spring’s class, she smiled at the kids that pass
Dinner tonight was just with Summer, Spring, and Ruby, as Cameron had told her he wasn't coming home early tonight. “Where’s Daddy?” that had been the first question Spring asked when she came down for dinner. “He's going to be late tonight. Just sit down to eat your dinner so that you can go to bed early.” She said. “But I want to wait for Daddy.” She said, pushing out her bottom lip in a pout. "He has to read me a bedtime story.” She said. Ruby sighed with a shake of her head. "No, Spring. You can't wait up for him. It's a school night. I'll read you a story.” She said, promising her. “But why is he staying out late?” she asked, still not satisfied. Ruby wished she knew the answer to that because when he told her he would be coming home late, he had only told her that she shouldn't wait up. He had not really told her anything about why he would be doing that. Perhaps, he was going to be staying late at work. She lifted her shoulder in a shrug. "I guess he has plenty of work to
It was about midnight before Cameron parked his car in front of his house and got out the key. He had told his driver to go home without him when he realized he would be taking long more than necessary. He was a family man that had to go home to his wife and kids. Not everyone should work like he does, burying himself into work and doing it as if his life depended on it. Actually, more than his life depended on how well he succeeded and how much he made, because of the employees that worked for him, with families of their own they had to take care of. So, basically, a whole lot of lives depended on it all. Sighing, he bite his lower lip and got out of the car, and walked around to the other side. He realized that everywhere in the neighborhood was quiet, and his house looked sleeping as well. He had told Ruby he would be back late so he knew everyone would have gone to bed. He grabbed his bag out of the passenger's seat and closed the door, locking it, before proceeding to go into
"Okay," she nodded her head, and started to walk away from him, but he grabbed her arm to stop her, and then he pulled her back. He rested his head against her head so suddenly and unexpectedly that she gasped. “Let me stay like this for a minute.” He said, shocking her even more. "You smell so nice, Ruby.” He whispered but she heard him. What should see she make of this? Why was the almighty cold man embracing her, or needing to stand like this for? What meaning was she supposed to read into this? “Is everything all right? Do you want to talk about it?” she asked, slowly. Cameron smiled and gave a small nod against her shoulder. He wasn't sure how she did it, but she had gotten to know something was wrong. He had tried to keep it off his mind as he came home because he hated bringing the problems he faced at work home. His company might be a multimillionaire company but they faced problems sometimes that they wouldn't be able to solve immediately. He had stayed late at work beca
“Ruby, I had a dream.” That was the first thing Spring said when she went to her room to wake her up and get her ready for school. She frowned at her and said. "Okay!” she removed the blanket from her body and pulled her into a sitting position. "So what's the dream about?” she asked her. "Can you tell me?”Spring nodded her head in agreement to do so. "I saw Daddy getting married.” She said, pausing to look up at Ruby. Ruby's eyes widened and then she reduced the glare of her eyes back to normal. What was Spring talking about? Her father got married in her dream. Well, wasn't that surprising? She wondered who the bride was. Was it possible that he was already making that kind of plan with anyone? "Wow, that's a great news, isn't it?” she asked even though she didn't believe what she had just said. She knew it was just a small girl's dream, and not a reality, but she couldn't help but feel a sudden pang in her chest.Spring nodded her head with a smile on her face. "Yes, Ruby. I'm
Cameron didn't eventually eat breakfast with the kids because he had to take a quick call, Ruby decided to cook him something and take it to his work. She would go to the hospital to see Olivia and Liam to see how they were and go pick up the kids after. But first, she needed to be sure no one else is scheduled to pick them up because she wouldn't want to run into anyone again this time. She made pasta with marinara sauce and chicken and then packed a lunch box with hot coffee in a thermos and bottled water. She got out of the house and walked to the waiting cab. This wasn't her job, and most might think it was because of her attraction to her boss, but they had nothing to do with one another. She was only doing this because she wanted to. After she told the taxi man where she needed to go, she settled down against the seat with her phone in hand to text Olivia she would be coming over to the hospital. She would definitely see the children at the children’s ward. It's been a while
“What is it to you? Why do you care I said our boss was kissing someone some days ago?” Shelly asked Ruby and she thought of what to say to cover up her attitude. She definitely didn't mean to exclaim that way, but she had. “Oh, I'm just surprised. I definitely heard the same thing about him liking men, so I was just surprised.” She said. The woman looked at her with her eyes squinted, and Evelyn looked at her as if she was about to say something but then decided against it. “Well, I don't think that's true,” she said instead and Ruby froze. She didn't believe her? Was she that bad at telling lies or she had an expression on her face that gave her away? “I don't believe he likes men or anything like that. He's just reserved.” She said and Ruby blew out a relieved breath. Evelyn looked at Shelly again and asked. "So tell me, did you see the woman’s face? Did you hear what they talked about?” she asked. These people were too interested in their boss’s life, but she couldn't blame t
