"Via? Are you okay?" Cole answered the phone so I sat down on a curb outside my dad's house.

"No, I need you, Cole," I told him as tears welled up in my eyes.

"What's going on, Liv?" He asked me in a gentle tone.

"My mom and well our dad is at our house. They're getting a divorce and now they want to turn whatever is left of my life into a custody battle." I told Cole before I started crying out of anger and frustration.

"Well, what did your dad say?" Cole asked.

"Nothing, they didn't even let him speak. Plus he's not my biological dad so he doesn't have much of a say in the matter." I told Cole.

"And what do you want me to do?" He asked me in a gentle tone.

"I want you to be here." I softly told him.

"I know." He softly told me. "I'm sorry that I'm not there." He added so I wiped the tears from my face.

"I love you, bye," I told him while suppressing my sobs.

"I love you," he told me so I ended the call. I got up from where I was sitting before I climbed into my dad's car. I

  • Not My Brother    Moving On

"What?" Paige loudly asked me over the phone. It's Sunday and Bri and Austin just went home after they spent the entire weekend at my place. "Yes, you heard correctly. I am dating Storm Brooks." I told her and she smiled at me. "Oh my god, Livvy! You have a boyfriend! A popular one too!" She yelled excitedly. "God, it's weird I kinda thought you and Cole would always just be together. Like I've never imagined seeing you with somebody else." She told me. "Anyway, you didn't tell me you were into Korean guys." She added and I laughed lightly."Who isn't? Besides he's hot and he has a British accent. And Cole is my brother. And it's unhealthy for me to see him, so I'm moving on with my life." "So, is this like a rebound relationship?" She asked me in confusion."No, I like Storm. I've always liked him, also weren't you the one who told me to try out a different ice cream flavor?" I smiled and Paige nodded slowly. "Yeah, I always forget that you've only ever had sex with Cole," Paige

  • Not My Brother    Broken Bridges

"I want you to leave him for me," Cole told me so I slowly moved back from him. I looked into his eyes before I shook my head at him. "No," I muttered under my breath. "No?" Cole asked me in confusion. "No.""Liv, what is it that you want from me? Huh! Why no?" He wildly asked me. "Because I won't leave him for you." I pointedly responded to his question. "You don't love him, Liv!" Cole angrily told me. "You don't know that Cole! This is about more than love, okay? It's about you telling me what to do all the time. I need you to stop trying to control me, Cole, because it's driving me insane." "And you need to stop leaving me on all these fucking broken bridges." He angrily told me."That's not what I'm doing, Cole. You're not listening to me!" "You're not listening to me either! I have feelings too, Liv. Your feelings aren't the only ones that matter." He snapped at me. "Don't gaslight me into believing that my feelings aren't valid or that I don't care about your feelings.

  • Not My Brother    The Curse

"I'll see you tonight," Storm told me over the phone so I smiled to myself. "I can't wait. I love you, bye." I told him as I entered the school building in front of me."I love you too." He said before I went inside my biology class. I sat down next to Jade and she pouted sadly once she saw me. "Bio does not feel the same without Shane sitting next to me," Jade whined sadly from next to me so I pulled her into a hug. "Nothing's the same anymore," I said before placing a kiss on the side of her head and she sighed lightly while she held onto me. "I still have you though, that makes me the luckiest girl in the world." She said and I smiled at her. "Same," I said and she rested her head on my shoulder so I patted her head in a comforting manner. Miss Octavia just shook her head at us before she continued her lesson. After sitting through a double period of math Austin and I entered the cafeteria for our lunch break. He sighed heavily before he threw his bag on our table. "Tell me

  • Not My Brother    Take Care

I felt two strong arms wrapping around my waist so I smiled before turning around while he held onto my tiny waist. I was blinded by all the party lights that were bouncing around the room, yet I could still see perfect little glimpses of his face. He took my face into both of his hands before he examined my face with adoration in his eyes. "Storm." I gasped out before throwing my arms around his neck and he tightly hugged me to his chest. "I'm here, princess." He told me before he placed a kiss on my forehead. "You're late," I told him while pretending to be angry and he smiled at my words. "You missed me that much huh?" He asked me in an amused tone so I rolled my eyes at him before smiling at him. "Yeah," I responded before placing a kiss on his lips. He started kissing me back and our kiss instantly became more steamy. I pulled back from him when I felt butterflies in my chest. I looked at him in shock before I gently removed his arms from my body. Cole kissed me last Su

  • Not My Brother    Home

"Can you take me home?" I asked Austin and he frowned over at me while his hand remained on the steering wheel. "As in home home?" A light frown adorned his features so I nodded at him in response. "Yes and before you say anything, I just want to check up on him then I'll go home." I frustratedly uttered. "I wasn't going to say anything." Austin's words faded into an uncomfortable silence so I quietly stared out of the window. I feel so out of place that I can't even recognize myself anymore. Why am I so indecisive? I know what I want and who I want to be with for the rest of my life. And it all comes down to a decision that I must now make. I either ignore my relation to Cole and continue to love him romantically or I do the right thing and forget about him completely. After ten minutes of mind racing Austin finally stopped in front of Ian's mansion. I haven't been here since last Summer, since we told Cole the truth. I sucked in a deep breath before slowly exhaling. I

  • Not My Brother    Trying To Be Happy

I silently sat across from Ian, carefully studying his behavior, he took a sip out of his coffee before he looked over at me and I gulped nervously. "You wanted to see me." He said and I nodded at him. "Yes, I'm swimming on Saturday. If I win I qualify for state." I softly started. "I want you to come," I added and he nodded at me. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Liv. Of course, I'll come." He told me so I smiled at him. "That's great. So have you spoken to my mom recently?" I asked and for a split second, he froze before he placed his cup down on the countertop, my eyes following his every move. "Yes, we discussed the divorce on Friday. She wants 60% of my company's shares and sole custody of you." He told me and frowned lightly. "What if I don't wanna stay with her?" I asked him and he sighed lightly. "Then the state will likely give us joint custody over you. I won't give up without a fight." He said so I lightly squeezed his hand. "Good, because I'd like to come

"Woah, slow down Liv. First, tell me why you're doing this. I can lose my job if anyone finds out that I helped you with this." "I'll be eighteen in two months. By then it won't be illegal anymore." I said and he frowned at me. "Yeah, but you're doing the test while you're seventeen." He said and I sucked in a deep breath. "Fine. I started dancing to the music and was immediately surrounded by my friends who were dancing with me while singing along to the loud music.I spotted Cole from across dimly the room and watched him talking to Griff. He really is here. I turned around and locked eyes with Storm. He raised his hand in a greeting manner so I just blankly stared at him before I turned away from his gaze. What's even worse is that I haven't seen Griff or Cole all morning."Fresh meat," I heard someone uttering from behind me. I slowly turned around and found a tall man hovering over me. One Year Later...I graduated today, everything went well. The dance squad made it to regionals this year and won, but we lost at nationals. It was still good memories though. I threw my cap in the air before leaving the bleachers. Everyone has gone home by now. Maybe it was stupid of me to hope but I thought Cole would show up to support me. I heard he joined the army but my Cole would've shown up no matter what. Even if it meant showing up late, he still would've been here. But I guess he regrets falling in love with me now. I left the football field and made my way to the parking lot. I jumped into my car and drove home in silence, the radio was barely audible as it was playing in the background. I parked my car in my dad's driveway. I went inside and found him, my mom, and Ian all waiting for me in the kitchen.I greeted them before sitting down by the kitchen island. "Are you ready to go tomorrow?" Ian asked me and I nodded at him. "I am." I pointedly stated."Liv, you don'

Always so calm and peaceful. She was gentle in everything she did. She never did anything wrong or bad. She was a saint. When I met Liv, she reminded me so much of my mom. She was so pure, maybe even too beautiful for me to touch. At least that’s what I thought.

  • Not My Brother    Heal

I quietly watched Ian as his eyes scanned over the DNA results. I decided to come home and give them to him since he deserved to know. Ian slowly looked up at me before running a tired hand over his face. "Liv, what is this?" He asked me, his voice faint and confused. "Cole had a paternity test done. These are the results-""So what you're saying is that my son isn't my son anymore? How is that even possible? I raised him, and my ex-wife gave birth to him, Liv. I was with her the entire time-" he stopped, a deep frown settled on his forehead as he seemed deep in thought. "What?" I softly asked. "I need to be alone for some time, Liv. I just need to make sense of all of this and ask a few people some questions- thank you for showing me these." He uttered in a shaky voice."Of course, call me if you need anything." I softly told him. "And Ian- I'm sorry. For everything." I uttered before leaving his house.I climbed into my dad's car before driving to my mom's house. I haven't been

We sat down by the firepit before we looked up at each other. "Please help me understand." I softly told him and he tightly clenched his jaw at my request. "Please, Cole." I uttered before taking his hands in mine. "Ian is not my dad, Liv. You're his daughter. But you're not my sister because Ian and I are not related- at all.
