"Who were you talking to"Eva asked. So that's the first thing she's going to say after the stunt she pulled earlier.

I ignored her and tried to enter the room but she just blocked the door."Didn't you hear me,who were you speaking to"Eva repeated this time with a tinge of annoyance in her voice.

"It's none of your business, can you move aside so that I can enter or do you plan on having this whole conversation at the hallway"I said.Eva seemed to realize where we were and moved aside for me to enter.

I entered the hotel room and headed straight to my room just as I was about to open the door Eva held the door to keep it closed"Are you just going to ignore me or you'll say that you can't hear me"Eva said. I looked around "Is it me you're talking to"I said feigning confusion."Of course it's you I'm talking to"Eva said annoyed.

"Sorry I was just confused since I didn't think someone of your status could stand speaking to someone like me"I said with a fake smile.Eva seemed shocked by my wor

I looked at Eva with a mix of uncertainty. What did she want? If she had something on her mind, she could have said it when I first arrived. Instead, she'd focused on who I was talking to. But it seemed like she didn't really need an answer because she walked past me and entered the room without even waiting to hear my reply.Eva looked at me with an annoyed expression. "Avery, can you please sit down? I need to talk to you, and the way you're standing is distracting me."I scoffed and headed to the bed, sitting down farthest away from Eva."Avery, about what I did, I'm sorry. Can we move on and forget it? I just got angry, that's why, with everything that's going on in my career. I'm really sorry. Can you please just not talk about it anymore? You'll forgive me, right?" Eva said.I opened my mouth to respond, considering how similar this was to her previous excuses. But before I could get a word in, Eva stood up, smiled, and came toward me, giving me a hug. • Not His Fan   Prologue

I was back in the car with my parents on a rainy night. I could hear them arguing, and it was making me feel really anxious. The rain was coming down hard, and the windshield wipers were going really fast, but I couldn't see anything outside except the blurry lights of passing cars. "How could you do this to me?" my dad said, his voice angry. "I'm sorry, it just happened. Couldn't you just forgive me?" my mom pleaded. "How could it just have happened? If I did something like that, could you have forgiven me easily?" my dad retorted. "Why couldn't you just have told me if you weren't happy with me?" my dad asked, his voice rising. "I'm sorry, please just forgive me," my mom said, her voice trembling. "How could I forgive you when I'd always be reminded of what you did when I look at her?" my dad said, his voice full of pain and anger. Suddenly, a blinding light appeared in front of the car, and I could hear the screeching of brakes. I braced myself for impact, but the crash neve

  • Not His Fan   Chapter 1

As I stroll through Central Park on this sunny Saturday, the atmosphere is buzzing with people enjoying their weekend. My sister, Eva Stone, had introduced me to this particular genre of music, and it has been keeping me company on this walk. I spend most of my days holed up in my apartment, so a little fresh air and greenery is a welcome change. As I glance at my phone to check the time, I realise I've been out for nearly four hours. It's starting to get late, and I should probably head back. It takes me around thirty minutes to make my way back to my apartment building from the park. Once I arrive, I pause to look up at the building. It's a little too fancy and expensive for my liking, but I didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Eva's parents had emotionally blackmailed me into staying there, and I feel indebted to them. When I was just five year old, my world turned upside down when my parents got into a fatal car accident while bickering. The traumatic event left me with o

"I'm not going to go with you unless you tell me the truth," I said firmly, looking at Eva. She appeared surprised at my demand, but eventually nodded. "Okay, here it is. This morning, while I was on set, my manager David called me, asking me to come to his office after I was done filming. When I got there, he dropped a bombshell on me. He said I have to date Hayden Thorne for a publicity stunt," Eva confessed. I was taken aback. "But you're already famous. Why do you need a publicity stunt?" My popularity has been decreasing over the recent years, and most of the movies I've done flopped," Eva explained. I nodded, starting to understand. "Okay, but what does Hayden get out of it?" "Well, when Hayden started out, my dad gave him the extra boost he needed to become famous. So he owes him, and I guess my dad called him and asked him to do it," Eva said. "But why Hayden? Couldn't your manager find another actor to date for the publicity stunt?" I asked, still confused. "Well, I ki

  • Not His Fan   Chapter 3

As soon as I hit the floor, I felt a jolt of pain shoot up my spine, and it took a moment for me to realise that my glasses had slipped off in the chaos. The world around me suddenly became a blur, and I knew I had to find my glasses fast. As I scrambled on the ground, I heard a man's voice apologise for bumping into me. "Sorry it's my fault you fell, are you looking for something?" the man asked. Judging by the deep timber of his voice, I imagined him to be a tall, well-built man. I couldn't help but wonder where he was running to when he collided with me. I reached out and felt the man's outstretched hand. He helped me stand, and I could see a blurry outline of his figure. "I'm looking for my glasses, they fell," I explained. "Don't worry, I'll get it for you," he replied kindly. As I watched the blurry figure bend down and pick up something from the ground, I hoped it was my glasses. Luckily, it was. "Here, take them," he said, extending his hand towards me. I reached out to

Jason's face contorts into a mix of shock and disbelief when he sees me. He quickly masks his expression with a practised smile, but I can see the surprise lingering in his eyes."Your sister has been telling me all about how you're my fan," he says. I furrow my brows in confusion, turning to Eva for an explanation. She meets my gaze with a glint of mischief in her eyes, her grip on my hands almost painful. "Don't be shy," she says, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "I've told him everything about how you've always had a crush on him since we were teenagers, and about his posters in your room. You used to talk about how you wanted to marry him in the future." I feel the blood rushing to my cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and anger coursing through me. I shake off Eva's grip,"I think I get the message," I mumble to Eva, my voice cold and controlled. Eva looks at me as if she feels sorry and faces Hayden. "Actually, the only reason I agreed to meet you was because Avery pestered

  • Not His Fan   Chapter 5

I'm awoken by a loud clatter in the kitchen. I sluggishly get out of bed, slip on my glasses, and check the time on my phone. It's around 9 am, so I figure Eva must be here. As I head to the living room, I catch a glimpse of Eva foraging through the fridge. Still peeved with her, I retreat to my room, freshen up with a quick shower and teeth brushing. After donning a comfy hoodie and yoga pants, and slipping on my favourite fuzzy slippers, I start working on my project. Just as I'm about to hit send, my belly grumbles, making me realise it's already 1 pm. Time does fly when you're doing something you enjoy. I decide to take a break and whip up some pancakes, as the thought of my stomach devouring itself is unbearable. I head to the kitchen, wondering if Eva is still lurking about. I quickly get to mixing the pancake batter and in no time, the fluffy stacks are ready. I serve myself and grab a cup of OJ. Sitting on the couch, I turn on the TV and am thrilled to see Modern Family pl

"Eva, what are you doing here with a suitcase?" I asked."Well, remember how I said I was going to make it up to you?" Eva replied."Yes," I said, still a bit confused."Remember how you told me you've always wanted to travel to Toronto? I booked a ticket for us to go there," Eva explained. I've always wanted to travel, and Toronto is one of the places I've been dying to visit. But I've always been so busy studying during high school and college. After I graduated, I was just focused on starting up my graphic design business, so I put travelling on the back burner. I'm really excited about this surprise. I didn't even think she could do something like this for me. Eva and I are close, but not that closeWith a smile on my face, I said, "Thanks so much, Eva. That's a wonderful surprise." I walked over to the couch, and Eva looked at me, still smiling. "See, I told you I'd make it up to you."As I sat down beside her, she reached out for a hug. "So, does that mean I'm forgiven now?" "Why is it so bright?" I mumbled, Apologizing, a voice responded, "Sorry about that." The person unwrapped themselves from my arms, lifted the blanket, and stood up from the bed. I assumed they went to adjust the curtains, as the room gradually dimmed. As the person settled back onto the bed, the mattress dipped, and they pulled me closer, covering us both with the blanket. "Thanks for drawing the curtains." I drowsily said. With a gentle kiss on my forehead, the person whispered, "You're welcome, princess."Wait a minute, "princess." I'm on the verge of panicking, thinking there's a stranger in my bed, when the memories from the previous day come rushing back to me and I realize it's just Jason.Still feeling sleepy, I settle back into the bed. I must have pulled away from Jason a little, because he responds by pulling me closer. I snuggle back into him, finding comfort in his embrace. When I wake up later I'm alone in bed and Jason side is cold so it must have been a while since he

  • Not His Fan   Chapter 16

Suddenly, Jason turned to me and asked, "Do you want to stay over?" My heart skipped a beat at his invitation, and I looked up at him, surprised. I was tempted by his offer, wanting to spend more time with him. Staying over would mean avoiding the fallout of what happened with Eva, at least for now. After the difficult morning I had, I felt like I deserved a break. I had already dealt with enough of Eva's drama for the day. The idea of spending time with Jason sounded like just what I needed."Yeah,I would like that"I said with a smile.A genuine smile spread across Jason's face, his eyes lighting up with joy. He pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me in a warm embrace. "I'm really glad to hear that," he whispered softly, his voice filled with excitement.Jason took my hand and led me to the cozy living room. We settled onto the couch, sinking into its comforting embrace. As we got comfortable, Jason grabbed the remote and began scrolling through the movie options."What would

"Hayden, it's Eva," her voice carried through the door as she knocked again.I felt a pang of anxiety in my chest as I looked at Jason, wondering how he would handle the situation. He seemed tense for a moment before taking a deep breath and getting up from the couch."I'll go talk to her," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "You stay here, okay?"Jason opened the door but didn't allow Eva to enter, staying firmly inside the room while Eva lingered in the hallway. "Eva, what are you doing here?" he asked."I tried calling you, but you didn't pick up my calls," Eva replied, sounding flustered. "I was busy with something important. If that's all, bye," Jason said, starting to close the door. But Eva stopped the door with her hand. "Actually, the main reason I'm here is that my manager called to tell me the news that you've agreed to date me," she said, her voice filled with excitement.Jason's face hardened. "I didn't agree to date you, Eva. I'm just not going to say anything about

As I basked in the glow of Jason's company, I felt myself slip into a carefree state. Suddenly, his accusing tone brought me back to reality. "Avery, what's that mark on your cheek?" he asked, his voice laced with anger.I couldn't believe I had forgotten about it. I stammered out a response, trying to cover up my mistake. "Um, remember I told you something came up with Eva, well the mark is a result," I said, nervously laughing. But Jason wasn't laughing. His expression turned to one of shock as he realized what had happened. "Eva did this to you?" he exclaimed, drawing the attention of the cafe patrons around us.I quickly tried to calm him down, worried that his outburst would draw more attention. "Jason, lower your voice. People are staring," I whispered soothingly. But his anger only intensified. "Avery, after what she did, you're asking me to calm down?" he spat, pulling out a cap and sunglasses that I hadn't even noticed he had. He stood up from his seat and took my hand firmly

I was abruptly awakened by a commotion emanating from the kitchen, and I immediately recognized the source of the noise. It had to be Eva. I put on my glasses and made my way to the kitchen, curious about what Eva had been up to all day. I couldn't get in touch with her, and she was nowhere to be found. As I walked into the kitchen, I was relieved to see Eva drinking orange juice in her pyjamas, indicating that she had been here all along."Eva," I greeted her, and she turned around, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. "Good morning, Avery. Did you have a good day yesterday?" she asked, her voice strained. Something was amiss, and I couldn't put my finger on it."Eva, is everything alright?" I inquired, concerned. "Did something happen? Is that why you didn't show up for our sightseeing plans? I've been trying to call you, but you weren't answering your phone." I tried to keep my composure, but my anxiety was starting to get the best of me.Without warning, Eva erupted into a fit o
