“What the hell just happened?” I say to the trees, knowing that Natalie is asking herself to same question. I try to stand, but that doesn’t work so I end up crawling towards Natalie instead. I want to know what she saw, why that happened. When I reach her, she brakes down into tears. Then suddenly she is on her feet, she reaches down and grabs my arm, pulling me up. Then she is running in the direction we were going. I don’t know why she changed her pace; all I know is that it must be important. So, I race after her, she neither gains nor losses ground. We run for what feels like hours, it isn’t until we come to a familiar spot that I realise, Natalie must have remembered something or been shown something. We race towards the car, shoving the stuff into the boot then climbing into the car, I shove the car into drive and we race off down the mountain towards home. We will probably have to move soon, at this rate we will never kill all the monsters and they will end up winning, b
What is happening to me? How did she do it? All these questions spill out of my mouth as I hunt for answers about this strange and supernatural happening. My monsters are just as confused as I am, they are all miserable and sad faced. As I pace around my room my thoughts always return to that one mysterious, dangerous and beautiful girl. I don’t know what it is about her, but she seems to have so much potential, and ability but she doesn’t know or realise. I don’t know what she sees in Ash, he was so easy to manipulate, but that could have been because I was heavily focused on making Natalie die in his manipulation. I want Natalie for myself and the only way I can see that happening is if I kill Ash myself but make it look as if that Cooper boy was the one to kill him. “But how will I do it? That is the question.” I guess I could manipulate Cooper into killing him like I did to him in his dreams where he tried to kill Natalie, but it really depends on Natalie. Like the prophecy
That night I lay in my bed and all I can think about is the female Ma Vista. She would be mine, she could have been mine, but I found her too late. The male had already gotten his claws into her. “Org.” I scream in fury. It was for me, she was meant for me. In the prophecy it read that once they share their first kiss they would practically become unstoppable. I have to find a way to prevent that from happening. “But how?” I say out loud not realising that I wasn’t alone. “But what master?” the monster scares me out of my thoughts, and I look at the beautiful sea blue monster that I would have only dreamed about as a boy. “But what master?” it repeats. That’s when I realise what must have happened. Slowly I rise out of bed. “Sorry I was talking to myself, what is the matter Blue?” If I could remember correctly Blue was one of the newest monsters and I had been watching the training that the older monsters had been teaching and he had been a star student. And that was
I have been watching all three of them quietly and I have noticed little things that I don’t think the others have noticed, or maybe they just don’t care. Natalie, well Natalie is the hardest to read. She is the leader, which I find extremely weird considering both the boys would have to be heaps stronger. But she is smart, good at battle plans and altogether really caring. I believe she is also really brave. Like the attack that happened in the forest, she didn’t blink even when Cooper was out cold and that the invisible monster was holding me by the neck as she was threatened. It was a strange event; I saw my life flash before my eyes. I could feel my heart beat slowing. But all I could do was hang and look at Natalie’s eyes. As soon as the monster mentioned Ash being alive, her eyes brightened and that light gave me hope and knowledge I knew I was going to live. Something in that light made it easier for me to just go with the flow. Once she discovered where Ash was there was
I hear the bathroom door unlock and hear the hinges shriek in pain, as the door swings open. As Cooper walks out of the bathroom the carpet crunched under his feet, like the crunching of a biscuit when you bite them. I watch him past me, as I walk towards the door of the bathroom. Just as I pass the door, I hear Cooper mutter ‘be careful the grounds a bit wet. I thank him quietly and close the door behind me. Clumsily I climb and scratch my way out of my dirty, smelly clothes and into the warm soothing, running water. It’s not long until I feel completely clean and happy. I decide that it’s no sin to stay in the shower for another couple of minutes. As the water trickles from my hair into my eyes, it dawns on me that Natalie and Ash haven’t had a shower yet. So I quickly turn of the water and step out of the shower. I reach over to switch the fan on, when suddenly the lights go off. I hear everyone give a shriek as the rest of the lights go out. Quickly I grab a towel and head for t
With Natalie gone I was devastated, she could be being tortured right now and all I am doing is laying in my bed wishing that I could feel her body warmth beside me warming the bed, but that can’t happen. I hear a soft knock on the bedroom door, “Ash, may I please come in?” It’s Lyrica; I don’t know what to say to either of them. I feel like it’s my fault that Natalie is gone, I should have jumped through the window and grabbed her hand and pulled her from that blue monsters grasp, but I was too weak. Now the love of my life is being tortured and surrounded by our enemy. I let out a rather loud groan and then allow her to enter. “Ash, I understand that you don’t want to talk to us right now, but while Natalie is with the master, we need to think about the war that is about to occur. We need to start finding people that will help us, though that isn’t very helpful because we can’t see anything, and we also need to start training people how to kill monsters and a way for Cooper and
This time I turn up in a forest, I see Cooper and Lyrica walking beside me and I don’t even have to look at myself to see that I am Natalie. They seem to be walking through the forest; they don’t know which way to go or what to do but they just keep walking. Suddenly before my eyes can even comprehend what is happening, Cooper has been thrown against a tree and the monster has grabbed Lyrica by the throat and is holding her off the ground. I feel Natalie grab her bow and arrow and aim for the monster, but before she speaks the monster talks. I can’t tell what he is saying because it is really muffled but I can tell that Natalie likes but doesn’t like what it is saying at the same time. Her bow arm slowly drops; I can see Lyrica slowly losing consciousness. Finally, the monster disappears and I rush over to Lyrica and check if she is still alive. I also notice that Cooper is awake, I look into his eyes and I see a question flicker through them. Suddenly Natalie starts to talk to Cooper
It's going to be a long drive so I may as well get comfortable. I've been driving for at least two hours now and I am so bored, I miss Natalie uncontrollably and I want her back here with me, in my arms. I need to hear her laughter, she was always happy, I need her happiness surrounding me but right now there is none. I miss the bright spark that was always in her shinning green eyes, the beautiful smile that would always light up her face. Her beautiful long locks of golden hair that always feel in front of her face, when she was focused on some project she had to complete. Sometimes I wonder if we should have kissed, because I think it has made it harder for us to be apart and what if being apart of all eternity actually happens to one of us? What would we do? Find someone else to love for a short period of time until they have breathed their last breath. This all sounds horrible and I don't really want to think of that ever happening. We need to live, if not for each other but fo
Cooper’s sudden disappearance had me confused and worried, he had been fighting right along beside me since the beginning of the battle and then he started acting funny. He had looked at me with fear, as if he was seeing something that was not actually happening, then he had ran in the opposite direction. I had been about to follow when I was unexpectedly knocked over as a monster struck me with something sharp. The blood had welled immediately on my arm and I noticed the three long claw marks across my arm and how quickly I was losing blood. I needed to get out of here and find somewhere safe. The pain rocketed through me as I lifted my sword to fight off the monster that had just attacked me. I swung my sword immediately feeling it impact against something but as I swung my sword back towards me. A deep roar had ricocheted around us making the earth rumble and groan. I saw everyone running in all direction, there was no sign of the monsters as if they had been called away; I took th
As the words slip out of Blacks mouth I become still, my muscles tense and I am left standing in the middle of the street completely vulnerable because of this new theory. Me, the new master... that’s... that has to be impossible. The words are barely a whisper on my lips as they slip out. “How?” All five monsters look at me, and I realise I just managed to grab all their attentions. Shit! Black’s eyes seem to soften as he takes in this whole situation. “I know its not ideal, but it’s the only way for us to be free, and I understand that you want to do that declaration, and I as the oldest of all monsters would be happy to be the first one to sign it.” I stare at him in shock and surprise, how does he even know about this, the only person I had this discussion with was Blue in the cell at Aidan house, while I tried to persuade Blue to help me get free. Suddenly there is a loud yell and the master marches forward, “I’ve had enough of this rubbish one of you grab my sword, it’s
Suddenly he stands; I glance at him anxiously wondering what he’s about to do. He scans the area, I watch his legs stiffen and as he slowly rotates his neck to look at me. His eyes aflame with anger, a low growl escapes through his tightly closed lips. “What have you done?” I stare at him in horror “I...I...I didn’t do any...anything.” I stutter as he continues to glower at me. “Liar!” He screams, as his hands reach around my throat and he shakes me viciously. I am gasping for breath as I struggle against Aidan trying to break away or at least loosen his hold on me. With out warning he throws me away from him and glares at towards the end of the street. Tentatively I ask “Aidan?” My voice growing with concern, not for him but my wellbeing, as I have no idea what he is looking at. “Hush Natalie, there is no need for you to worry your little head about this.” He gives me a long hard look, before reaching behind him and grabbing the sword that he had released earlier when he sh
As the vision comes, my eyes seem to slowly close, and as I’m surrounded by back a small stream of light breaks through the opening of my eyelids. As my eyes open, the bodies and the blood that surround me are confronting. All my friends are being slaughter, I look around the clearing and see Ash fight beside Aaron, they both seem to be protecting each other’s back. I scan the rest of the clearing to see Lyrica fighting beside Cooper, but she keeps glancing at him like there might be something wrong with him, but she doesn’t let this stop her from throwing sand and swinging her sword in every direction she can. I see some of Riley’s fighters fighting with the equipment that they grab this morning before we left. There are some bodies on the ground but they are to far away for me to see what they are. As I climb to my feet, I Ash turns in my direction and a look of relief flashes over his face. He exchanges a few words with Aaron, Aaron nods and they slowly make their way towards me.
As he brings his sword down I raise mine, creating a loud clang as the metal collides into each other and as the sparks fly, I am suddenly fearful that these moments could be my last. As we battle we both try to take over each others mind, but we both seem to be as strong as each other as we shield the other from our own thoughts. Everything seems to be floating around my mind unable to settle on anything that is happening. Even fighting him seems to be just happening as though I have been sword fighting my whole life, as I swing my sword advancing and deflecting his own attack I am still able to notice what he is doing and I notice myself looking for weaknesses in his defence. Sparks continue to fly and the metal clashing seems to echo of the brick buildings that surround us. “Ma Vista, you are all alone how do you plan of getting away from me?” “I don’t know Aidan, but I know that someone will come looking, even if this takes us all day.” Aidan chuckles a low deep noise that mak
Then I look back up at my dad, he seems worried, really worried. The light from the sun is starting to disappear so it must be getting late. He glances back in the direction that I just ran off in, before turning and sprinting off in the opposite direction. After running a kilometre or so, I realise that we are at the same clearing that Natalie found Ash in. Dad keeps looking around, and as I follow the direction of his gaze I finally see what a monster looks like. I can’t tell if it is because I can see with dad’s eyes or if the master is allowing me to see it. But it is the most grotesque thing I have ever seen in my life, slowly the monster approaches, it’s massive. The colour of it is so dark it’s looks like it is as black as night, with the most crimson eyes I have every seen. Dad grabs an arrow and aims it at the monster. Abruptly, a deep raspy voice emits from its mouth “I wouldn’t do that if I were you Ma Vista.” I am taken aback, wait, what did he just say? I know what he
As soon as the battle started, everyone was lost in the fray, I saw Natalie run in one direction and Ash tried to follow but I am guessing to many monsters had crowded him because he had to stop and all I could see was the light reflecting off his sword as he cut them down, well I think he cut them down. I decide to stick with Lyrica, more so now after our new relationship has bloomed. I see people being cut down everywhere, most injured but others it’s hard to tell. I also see a lot of sand bags bursting as they hit the hidden monsters. It doesn’t take long before Lyrica and I are standing back-to-back, surround by the invisible monsters. I swing my sword sometimes I feel the hit but other times it only feels like air. My sword just seems to never find a purchase; I can tell that Lyrica is finding it to be quite frustrating as I hear her swinging her sword and hearing the sound of the air swishing past the shape blade. We must fight for hours, before long I am exhausted and I still h
It’s not long until I find both of them standing in a corner out of sight from the street in case any monsters decided to attack them. I race towards Ash happy that he isn’t injured yet. “It’s so good to know that you are okay. Have you heard of any losses yet?” “I saw one of Riley’s group go down, but that’s all I know of. How are you going?” “I’m okay, that’s not good, have you seen Cooper or Lyrica or Alex?” “No as soon as the battle started I lost sight of them.” “Okay, well I came to find you so we could stick together and watch each others backs.” “Yeah, that’s a great idea. By the way have you seen the large black monster that appeared in our last nightmare?” “No, but when I do I’m taking him down.” “And I will be right beside you.” “Okay we should probably head back out, remember we are looking for the master, I have tried to get into his head but he seems to be blocking me and I have a feeling that some of the monsters are helping with that.” “How do y
By the time we have everyone up and in the lounge room we have lost half an hour. Everyone looks panicked and unfocused. “Alright guys, the time has come for us to band together to beat this evil that has descended upon us.” With that I grab Ash’s hand and walk towards the front door, they quickly fall into step behind me. We walk onto the street and then onto the main high way that runs through Frostvale. I make sure that everyone still has all their weapons as well as their sand bags and then we stand in a line, restricting any of the monsters to penetrate further into the town. We stand for close to maybe an hour, waiting, just waiting for any sign of movement or panic. Just when I am about to give the signal to dismiss and go back to the house, we hear screams in the distance. Then sure enough I see the monsters and my brain nearly explodes. There must be hundreds of them, maybe even nearly a thousand. They are all walking along the road and in the hands of some of them, are th
