-KAIZI-
*COMPANY BASE: FOREST*
I'm busy scanning the huge base with my binoculars while Abigail is beside me reading the files for me by the thick small bushes a little far from the Base. The base has only one way in and out. Where cargoes enter and leave.
"The victims died with the same reason, huge brain damage caused by identical bullets and maybe the very same gun and the very same killer." she started reading the files for me.
Yeah, such a brutal way to kill yet painless or fastest way to die.
"Long-range shot?" I asked without taking MY gaze off the binoculars.
"Close contact..." she responded.
"That's why they found gun powder at all victims' faces and every shot was 'bull's eye'. I concluded and lowered my binoculars.
"All the 15 victims died with their heads shot," she reads." And all the crime scenes are all on the victim's bedroom. All died on the very same night."
The killer meant to kill them in the same night, why?
"Close contact killing only means that the killer is no professional." I concluded, "and even if the bullet is fake, but has the same size and shape means only a gun like the Company must also be used." That's obvious, actually.
"Wow!" Abigail uttered in amazement. "You're already halfway in solving the case. All we need is proof to seal your theories," she stated, making me glanced at her in disapproval.
"I theorized nothing" I corrected. More like deducting. Theories will remain theories, in my perspective.
"You arrived here days ago, right? And left Japan, why?" She curiously asked .
I glanced back at my binoculars and started looking around again. "A friend encouraged me." I cheaply replied. "He said that there's this case about a serial killer that hasn't been solved in almost a year. He said that if I solve it, I could be able to beat him." But, that so-called Permit is a threat itself.
"Beat him from what?" another question from her.
"I need to beat him to obtain the title 'the greatest detective in the whole world." I confidently exclaimed.
"So that's your dream, huh!" all she said and left out a sigh, "The greatest detective you say, you mean. Johann Batchmann." She exclaimed, astonished by her realization.
"It's Bachmann, not Batchmann." I corrected it. "Why is it not a surprise hearing his last name wrong from someone?" I annoyingly said as I narrow my gaze.
"Sorry, they sound the same to me..." she laughed, "So you met each other." She added.
"It's obviously yes," I just said. Gome'ne, what an attitude I have today.
"So, this Company is one of the suspects, huh?" she spoke up changing the topic.
"No, I haven't suspected the Gun Company yet. I'm still on a doubt." I resorted from looking and sat down on the grassy ground, crossed my legs and put the binoculars beside me.
"There are two possible reasons for faking a bullet--- framing someone or a cover-up. Example, if the Company is the one behind this, why waste time making fake bullets for killing?---as a cover-up. And someone copied the bullets from them---frame-up. If someone can go copying their bullet only means that the culprit is maybe working here or he has a colleague inside." I stated my findings.
But which company? The Luxury Company owned by the Darwins has indeed personal conflicts, but wouldn't risk losing the Gun Company's trust. So I won't go suspecting them, besides, they're only into luxuries. I raised my hand stretching them. I heard only two companies are standing in this town.
"Going back to the Gun Company, not minding bullets, if they have an assassin, who would that be and why did they choose a maybe Rookie but good in entering houses and go killing their victims in a close range." I stopped "...but said from the paper that the victims have no particular proof that they work for this company even once." Consider the fact that 'SHE' has amazing skills. Does she have any connection?
"Like you said, um, they should go sniping the victims instead?" Abigail queried to make a point.
"Uh, maybe. But that will take time killing all the victims in a day." I reasoned out, wait, that's it.
"But what if the killer went there to ask them to shut their mouth or just ask something." She questioned again making another point.
"Oh, shut their mouth? That's the reason why they're dead. The victims were found dead in a sleeping manner so we can say they were killed when they're sleeping except for the last victim who maybe happened to wake up and maybe even fought with the killer. No death threats received from their phones and no mysterious things in their houses either, even the doorknob isn't damaged, no fingerprints and they have no enemies from work according to the victim's colleagues." I grinned while thinking deeply, remembering about the information that I recently read, this is getting interesting.
"But you see, the killer is somehow clever thinking to kill his/her victims in one night. If the killer tried to kill them one by one regardless of the time, the other victims would have fled the town. That only means that the victims are connected to each other or something like that and so as the killer.
That is why, a pattern is not that important in this case since we are not dealing with a psychopath, I mean, a normal serial murder case. This is an assassination.
"If that would ever happen, then all of the victims had been involved in something." Abigail cried out and I just smiled upon her statement, yeah, you're right.
"But I don't think you only came here for that." Abigail, with her serious voice, she uttered.
Interesting.
"Well, you're right. Never thought you could read me." I astonishingly said making her blush and hide her face by looking down. "If I can't catch them by this case, then I'll catch them by proving they stole the diamond last night," I exclaimed with a big grin.
"Diamond?" Abigail asked in confusion. "You're still onto that." She somehow uttered that with a sad tone.
"Yes, the police didn't believe me that 'that bastard' stole it unless I have proof. I wonder why Rook hasn't filed a case." My confused expression faded into a grin, an evil grin." But if I have proof, the police will arrest them then I could enter the Company and look for clues for this case. Good idea, isn't it?"
"Umm, about arresting them..." Abigail stopped, after feeling a continuous vibration from her pocket. She slipped her hand in and out holding a vibrating phone and answered the call.
"I see, " her last reply after finally closing her phone and slipped it back into her pocket. " LT. Danwel said we should head back now!" She informed me and stood up.
"Why now?" pouting like a child,I following her to stand up.
"But he said it's important." She explained while staring at the pouting adult. I mean, me but not pouting.
"But I'm waiting for someone," I whispered.
"Waiting?" her eyebrows met.
"Yea---"
-KAIZI-An intimidating silence somehow woke me up, damn. I can't remember anything or what even happened. I found myself lying in an office-like room. I tilted my head up to see a table and a chair and glanced down to see the door and my body, restrained with ropes, both hands, and feet.I felt a movement from my back and then heard a moan which I immediately recognized; it's only Abigail moaning in pain. I finally felt a sting of pain coming from my severed neck fresh from hitting by a wooden bat."Ouch" I gritted my teeth in pain, that's what happened. A thud came from the steel door, causing me to look at it. Following by a creaking sound as the door opens, it showed off two muscular men and in the middle, a raven-haired lady in her plain white shirt and black shorts, she is grinning at us, who is she? They entered the room individually. The woman approached the table while the two guys leaned down closer to us, removing the ropes, I shouldn't do something stupid for this time bein
-GREY-"Damn, you Psycho," Kai shouted after the guards him tossed him to the tiled floor. I signalled the guards to leave and then entered the room. I slammed the door shut, leaving us two inside. Kai looked around examining the surrounding with his eyes and I did the same, the room is concrete, darker, and narrower than before with only two chairs two meters away facing each other. The floor formed a black and white chessboard pattern. This is nostalgic."Some sort kind of Interrogation room, huh?" He sat on one of the chairs only to see me leaning my back on the door with my hands in my pocket. He guessed it right."Such a mere reason coming here just for a diamond even though you know you won't get out alive," I stated in an abstract way. "This room was supposedly a torture room for traitors, but it was locked for a long time since it hasn't been stained with blood and it hasn't witnessed a tormenting soul." Or in other words, it hasn't been used."So tell me, Kai, was that diamond
KAIZI-"Shi'ne (Go to hell/ die.)" I spat. "I forgot to ask about Abigail."I looked around examining the room while approaching my table. A white concrete wall and a single wood cabinet standing near the wall at the left side of my desk, not even a window in sight, two small light bulbs enough to light up the room. The floor is the same black and white chessboard pattern. The ceiling is made of plain timber. I saw another door made of steel far from the back of my desk and started to approach it. I reached for the doorknob, turning it open and took a glimpse inside."Of course, what do I expect, a comfort room." I narrowed my eyes, staring at the white-tiled walls, floors, and the toilet."Such weird designs and architecture." I managed to utter before closing the door and went back to my chair planning to sit for a while. I examined the wheel-chair, black cushioned-seat, and not a sign of dust. I leaned my back and relaxed my arms by its arms. What time is it, by the way? I raised my
-KAIZI-"Hi!" a man, maybe at my age greeted me as he sat in the first double-decked bed. He has a deeper accent than the guy who greeted us earlier. His caramel hair looks like it has been bleached out from being blond. He has his hazelnut orbs gazing at me while waving his hand. I lazily waved back at him and closed the door behind me."You must be Mr WatshibakaThingy." A guy, maybe in his late 20's called out from the upper deck where Mr Hazel Eyes is sitting. I can feel him smirk."Call me Kai" I spoke up. That name again, I'm a little lucky to forget about it in a while. Damn, she's really into torturing me. Most especially that ba'ka means 'Idiot'."Kai huh, Kai like Kaizi Horithingy." The guy from the upper-deck blurted out again. That's me!!"Yes!!"I replied back while fighting the urge to cry. I approached the empty bed beside theirs and lied down on my stomach. The room's wide enough for the two double-deck bed to fit in with enough space for a table to fit in the middle of t
-KAIZI-"With that all kinds of jobs, how will you be promoted as an Executive?" Don't make sense, that's why."Oh, 'bout that, there are risks to encounter before you become an Executive. If you volunteer, you'll be sent off for assignments like spying, escorting preeminence, saving colleagues, and others. If you do that without dying and killing someone, you're in. These are the hardest job after all." Rald explained."That's impossible without killing even one enemy," I said with amazement. If you did, you're darn jailed."Yeah, but the Executives today did it, all right. Ask Jero since he volunteered,"--Rald.We glanced at Jero who's quietly sitting beside me."It's not that complicated since we have devices and materials used for combat like stun guns, tranquillizers, and most especially a gun." Jero finally spoke up, Awesome."What if you have enemies using guns? There are totally hundreds of them." I'm just curious about it, okay and I'm lazy to think."You just shoot them first
-GREY-"In the end, I ended up regretting everything I planned from the very start." I cried out, with my hands stretched and my chin resting on the glass surface of the table.I can feel my heavy eyelids attempting to close but I always dream of nothing but my nightmare, being grounded. I didn't have a good sleep last night or didn't even sleep thinking of this disastrous scenario I'm heading, achieving this big eye bags of mine.Nice."Is it something that your father would go mad if he had known?" Mr William, who's standing beside my desk asked as he's about to take a sip on his coffee. He doesn't know that Kai is a Detective. He's my great adviser but I won't risk telling him this secret because his loyalty is to my father's and everything I do is no escape from his knowledge. He's been serving this company for three generations, his influence is important."What would I do if that's the case?" I asked and glanced at him. He took a sip from his teacup, I mean, his arc opal cup, he
-GREY-"If you just marry my Eldest son, Rook." He finished. I widened my eyes with two emotions, Fear and Disgust."You're crazy." I spat."Well, I'll let you choose. Your pride or your father's life, but I'm sure your father will also approve if I'll tell him this arrangement, and besides, you have no fiancé or even a boyfriend in this age of yours." His blasphemous words are somewhat making me choose.Who cares, I'm 23 after all.Dad is suffering from depression. I remembered stopping him from attempting to commit suicide. I'm glad he found a reason to live a little longer. I hate myself because I can't help him. All I can do is to watch a terrible scene."You don't know my father. He won't approve such a thing!" Will he? "What do you want, money? You can ask nicely. And besides, you got everything." I stood up and shouted those words to him.No, I should control myself. I won't let him control me one more time."I want more than that. I want this Company and mine to be united by ma
-KAIZI-Walking on the hallway with an annoyed expression on my face because of what those three did to my hair. Mr William is walking in front as he leads me to my new office. I even remembered the hard work I did yesterday on those freaking mountains of papers for nothing."I see what you did to your hair. It is good." Mr William spoke up, breaking the silence between us."Thanks," I replied. We stopped in front of a wooden door. By the way, I'm on the 50th floor, better than being on the same floor with that bastard. Just make sure I wouldn't see her or else I'll kill her onsight."I'll leave you here." He simply said and walked away again. Like he did before, he never specifies if behind this door is my new office. Geez, I sighed and finally opened the door, revealing hundreds of books on the shelves. Some kind of archives are usually stored in these places. I wonder why she put me here. There is a desk in front and some other tables, it looks like a library at first glance. I clos
“It was indeed our anniversary,” He started to shake, “At exactly 3:50, we met by the back of the bakery and tried to convince her there to file a divorce but she didn’t listen. She would rather live in a messy family than filing a divorce. I got mad and….and…” Mr. George uttered, trying not to cry but then he did, again.“How did you kill her?” Nice call by Bob, I wonder too.As expected he was silenced by his question. His glassy eyes left the eye contact as his lips trembled, giving the impression of thinking for a reply, which were mostly lies. “I, I me--Uhm,” He stuttered, “A pipe, I…I hit her…with…that.” Was his hesitant reply, “I will tell you everything I know but please, promise me to keep my remaining family away from it okay?” He added.“Where did you hide the murder weapon, the pipe I mean?” Bob asked after a nod.“By the sewage downtown, near the Dandelion Bridge, I threw it there.” He replied. I looked at Steward and signaled him to relay the information to our Police de
Doom would come forth to a daughter who loathes her own father. Grief would stick upon a father who indulged himself in such disgraces, he surely deserved the hate.Twists were to be expected, most especially with this kind of job. As much as I wanted to delude myself from piercing truth, I could not be able to blind myself from it. What a tragedy.
-GRUYVER-[before Kevin was discharged]Unexpectedly strange, weird, odd, peculiar, or any words that fit was his temperament and was my first impression about him.We found him near the crime scene weak, hungry, underweight, on torn and dirty clothes, and dying.Just like what he said before.Luckily, yes luckily he was there, luckily we found him, or luckily he was somewhat involved. He sat there on his bed with his emotionless face. Mediocre, not really, just like that kind of expression was flawlessly plastered on his face for years already. I can assume THAT much with just a glance. He was unexpectedly calm during my interview and was able to keep up with the situation. As I scan and skim all the information that I collected. The pictures and details of every missing report that have not been closed in 5 to 6 years interval, right in this very town. His long blond hair made me assured that it must have been in that timeline. What a dreadful truth, knowing he suffered for too long.

The sun was gradually setting, like a scene in a movie. -GREY-The plan was successful.I left my spot and approached the three guys on the sofa.I found Kai, unconscious, and horribly lying in there."You look more horrible than him," Shaun uttered as he furrowed his forehead; I really hate how he always read me.--and I hate myself for being too readable like he said."Whatever," I annoyingly looked at him."Do you know how this guy wasted his time explaining his ideals to a future amnesia guy?" He happily pointed my dad but he was just sitting there, staring at the books on top of the table. "I haven't said goodbye," I found myself mumbling those words, but I already made up my mind not to. --because in order to succeed, I must be ready to sacrifice that impudent moment. "Oblivion, we can be able to forcibly erase his memories that resided on a specific time but the stronger the soul is, regardless of the time, it will also forcibly come back, most especially in a saddening situation," Shaun explained."You two aren't sure about this,
-KAIZI-We headed back to the library and this time, with Grey. Sadly, she came in a luckless time because"Your heir sucks, he's only onto your money."---Lander"Your heir sucks more, she bullies weak people." Shaun furiously shouted at his face."Your heir sucks the most; he likes your maid..." Lander unerringly shouted back,Geez."Geez," Grey who's been beside me annoyingly grumbled as she cupped her forehead."Your heir, 100 times sucks, she cares for a detective!!!""huh,"---Lander."HUH!!!!"---Father and daughter___qp___You could guess what happened after that, Shaun, with his messy and torn clothes. They kept his face untouched though and Grey decided to cool off by the bookshelves. That's good, I guess."Ahem," Lander hummed, taking my attention. I want to ask about Jeremy Gloss but we have no time."I want to know how much this bastard's son here has told you about the Organization." He spoke as he pointed the 'bastard' that he's talking about."Nothing much, he told me tha
-KAIZI-Geez, that Shaun really is a muscle-head.What's with his pessimist mind, that book was a great one. As a psychologist, what blinded him to see that?I sighed as I let my mind think of another stuff.Going back to that poem,"Let not thy law confronts us,Let not thy mouth of a gun bestow fear upon us,Let not thy dazzling gold blind us,Let not thy pen draw the line between us.Four souls wagered for the good,Let thy stars attest thee,Of these tainted blood,Ready to be spilled."LAW pertains to DANWELGUN pertains to LANDERGOLD pertains to SHAUNPEN pertains to who? That frame under that dirty cloak, I found a picture. Three people were there. The young, maybe 14-year- old versions of these old geezers were resting in that wooden frame. At the back of the picture frame was the POEM etched on the board. They were three people there but the poem says, FOUR SOULS. I noticed that it was spontaneously taken, I wonder if the fourth person took it.NO, I've been missing the poin
-SHAUN-The conversation was getting so, so interesting since Kai was here. And this guy, Luke what took you so long.
