48: Worried Wife

Stephen stared at the phone, vibrating phone in his hands, undecided. Xavier had long put distance between them, dreading Alicia's reaction. “What should I tell her?” He asked Xavier with a frown. The playboy shrugged his shoulders, pocketing his hands.

“Alicia,” Stephen answered the phone with a sigh.

“Why did Xavier hang up on me?” She demanded breathlessly. Before Stephen could answer, she asked, “do you know what is happening with Theo?”

“He is sick,” Stephen breathed. “But nothing to worry about.” He added quickly.

“Let me talk to your boyfriend.” Alicia decided. Stephen looked at Xavier briefly, and the man looked shaken. There was no way he could talk to her without making her worry.

“We are coming over,” Stephen informed and disconnected the call. To Xavier, he said, “pull yourself together. She needs you right now.” He tossed the phone on the sofa and stepped closer to Xavier. He pulled the man into his arms and hugged him.
