*Cali POV*I storm out of Leroy and Phoebe’s suite and immediately summon the Epsilon. “Queen of …”“Give me the spell to server the bond,” I use my Lycan voice. If Leroy thinks I will dance to tune because he is my mate, he had another thing coming. “My Queen. Your Lycan will be knocked down for weeks. You will be vulnerable,” he warns but I have made up my mind. “Server the bond with Leroy and leave the one with Cale. Cale is enough to keep me going,” I interject and give him no other option but to do what I command. I am certain that knowing that Cale needing me will keep me alive. I can live without a mate for the rest of my life. Gold tries to take over but I don’t let her. It’s taking all my energy to suppress her as I gulp down the portion and feel my energy drain out. Gold whimpers, pain rips through my chest making me scream out before collapsing on the bed. “Gold,” I call on my wolf, suddenly feeling all alone. It’s so empty, like I have lost a piece of me. “Gold,” I c
*Leroy POV*I rush to Phoebe’s side the moment Cali storms out. I had my arms around Cali’s waist right in front of her.“She is right to avoid you. You are becoming a control freak,” Phoebe says the moment our door slams shut. I thought she was jealous, but she is angry about what I said to Cali. “I am trying to keep her here for our pup,” I try to explain and she does not get it. “She already said she will make necessary arrangements and I believe her. You are using Cale to force her to stay. You are going to lose her.”I let out a sigh and avoid her eyes. That’s exactly what Marcus said earlier. “I am sorry.”“I am not the one you should apologise to. Leroy, I am going to die. You need to fix your relationship with her before then because I don’t what your next mate is going to be like.”“Phoebe.”“It’s true. You need to stamp your name in her heart. You need to get that forgiveness. You won’t achieve that by forcing her to be around you.”“Fine. I will go and apologise,” I conce
*Cali POV*It’s at dawn when Betty and I dash out of the Ruber pack castle. Gold is sulking about leaving Leroy behind, but I can’t afford to have him attend the commission of my castle. Not with those unrestrained power hungry lycans around. The dream I had the other is still very fresh in my head. “We could just do what Phoebe suggested. He is mate,” Golf links with me. “Future mate,” I correct her. I don’t know why I am the only one seeing something wrong with all this. Yes, I love Leroy and he knows it. I adore Phoebe too but I am never accepting being in a polygamous relationship. “You crushed his spirit, My Queen,” Betty final speaks. She has not said anything since we returned from the run yesterday. “He will get over it.”“He is an alpha with pride,” she tells me. “So what?” I ask. It’s not like he can decide to cheat on me. He is not even mine. “I know that you have not healed from everything that happened. Is it possible that you are not claiming him because you secret
*Cali*“Stand down!” I roar to Marco and Darius while Gold takes over, but their massive, over seventy kilograms of pure muscle lycans are already off the ground charging towards Leroy. “Marco!”“Darius!”Their mates call out to them. Not that the two ever listen to them. Adrenaline pulses into my veins and suddenly everything I see is gold. I scream out in horror when Gold springs in a gap between the two lycans and Leroy, but Phoebe beats her to it. Gold collides with Marco and rolls over before landing on her paws. “Phoebe!” I scream out in horror. She used her human form to shield Leroy. A sharp pain pierces through my heart as Darius’ canine’s sink in her neck. My body shudders at the sight. There is no way that she will survive this.Screams fill the room as guests move away to avoid getting caught up in this. Leroy is now on his knees, holding a lifeless Phoebe in his arms. Cale must have felt his mother’s bond fading too because he starts crying, a sound that shutters my
*Leroy POV*It’s been four days since we buried Phoebe. My heart is torn apart. I can’t think straight. I can’t even sleep at night. I should have insisted that Phoebe remained at home. I knew that she would die soon, how could I be so stupid? All I wanted was to force Cali to admit our bond to the arrogant asses who feel entitled to her just because they are lycans. I intentionally did not shift when Marco and Darius charged at me. As crazy and stupid as it sounds now, I knew that Cali would never let them hurt me. I did not expect Phoebe to jump in front of me like she did. I close my eyes, shutting out the images of her lifeless body in my arms. I clench my fists when Alloy approaches. My heart starts pounding, my anger rising. I don’t know why he is here. “You are seriously going to leave things like this? What the fuck is wrong with you?” he asks, fuelling my anger. Sky stirs inside. Alloy might be stronger than us, but this is my castle and my territory. “Don’t talk to me an
*Cali POV*I am pacing in my chambers, fuming. Leroy has the audacity to show up here after blaming me for Phoebe’s death and rejecting me. I clench and unclench my fist. I hope Betty sends him back to his pack or I will end up hurting him.I am still pacing when Alloy calls. “What?” I snap. I have been on urge since Phoebe’s death. “Queen of Queens,” he greets with his usual charming baritone voice. It’s as if I have not just snapped at him. “Cut the crap. What do you want?”I know him enough to know that this is how calm he sounds when he wants something. “You are being too hard on your mate.”“He is not my mate!” I snap again. Something is really wrong with him and his friend. I clearly recall telling everyone that Leroy is not yet my mate and he never will be because I plan on doing the rejection the moment we are. “Denial won’t change the fact. I am in Ruber city because you care and love him,” he reminds me, getting on my nerves. “Is there a point to your call?”“You both
*Leroy POV*I wake up to find Cali in my arms. My heart is filled with immeasurable joy. Having her like this is heaven. Our union was pure bliss and nothing I ever imagined. Prophecy or not, I have made up my mind. There is no way in hell that I am ever parting with her. Her alluring golden eyes flip open and my heart flutters. “Morning,” she greets with a yawn. “Morning, my love,” I respond and play with her hair. She narrows her eyes at me. “What is it?”I flash her a smile. It’s amazing how she knows that something is on my mind. “I don’t want to be mated with anyone else ever again,” I inform her of my decision and she lets out a sigh. “I don’t think that’s up to us, Leroy.”“It has to be, Cali. I can’t go through this rollercoaster again. Yes, I loved Phoebe, but I can’t do this. We are mates, we should be together forever.”At this point I don’t care what I need to do to make this happen. Dad and his cruel regime are long gone. Phoebe is gone and she had nothing to do wi
*Cali POV*I walk through the bed of roses in my meticulous garden. It is an attempt to clear my head. Leroy is driving me insane. We claimed each other during the Luna red moon, yet both our marks are gone. It’s a clear message that we are not yet permanent mates. It sucks, but we both knew the prophecy. He is taking this too hard. I can’t deal with him right now, hence walking here when he is inside interrogating his Epsilon. I enviously watch the batteries flipping their colourful delicate wings. They seem at peace and happy. Perhaps like I was a day ago. The whole of the red mood was complete bliss. For a moment, I thought life was perfect. Having my mate with everyone and everything else completely gone is something words cannot express.I am still walking aimlessly in the garden when the Epsilon shows up. “My Queen.”“I did not summon you,” I say and realise just how short my fuse is. This man has shown up like this my whole life. He only does when he has a point to make. “So
*Cali POV*My eyes are shutting down when I see him. “No!” the witch cries in disbelief as my fuming Epsilon and Rufus snatch their charms from her neck. I drop on the floor and hungrily take in the air I was starved off a minute earlier. I sit up in time to notice the witch’s hair turning red. She is trying to flee when my extended, mighty and pissed-off family arrives. Now we are even. “Go be with her,” Alloy tells my fuming mate, whose eyes are blazing at our attackers. The idiots are now trembling. I wonder what their end game was. Kill Leroy and the witch would kill me, then what? Alloy’s family were still going to avenge us, or did they not think that far? They start hauling in distress but I don’t think anyone is going to come to their rescue. They now have the Sable king, a hybrid, two Lycans, and an inferno wolf against them. We have won. Sky looks at me, but I know what he wants. “Finish them off,” I link and he goes wild. I should not cheer him on as he alienate the f
*Cali POV*“She is lying and trying to get between us!” Rose snaps, her eyes blazing at me. I don’t know when Leroy snatched Rose from Alloy, but in a split moment she is on the floor lifeless.“No one talks to my mate like that!” it’s Sky who roars. My hero. I strangely don’t feel any pain for Rose. I hope Leroy doesn’t regret this afterwards. “We are outnumbered,” Marcus reports as if Leroy did not just kill Rose. “Cali and the pups are priority,” Leroy says before running his hand over by tummy. Marcus and Alloy nod while I shake my head. Can’t they see that I am not the one in danger?“No. They are here for you,” I tell Leroy who shrugs. “It does not matter. You and our pups take priority,” he insists. “It matters to me, Leroy. Let me go speak to them. They will not touch me,” I present an alternative as the hauling gets closer. That means the gate guards and the ones outside are already outnumbered. “No!” they all respond in unison. “Stop being cavemen. They won’t touch me
*Cali POV*I insisted that we come to see the Ruber pack because I know my brother. He is trying to water everything down, but he would not be insisting that I convince Leroy to come if there truly was nothing to worry about. The elders are thrilled to see us, but I can sense something they are not saying. “Rogues are becoming a problem, Sire,” one elder says but Leroy is more focused on me than what is not being said. “We have always had rogues, we have competent warriors to deal with them,” he tells them dismissively. They bow their heads respectfully. I guess they can sense his irritation that we had to come. Many are also very scared of the do-called Sable king. I can’t contradict him here, but I need to have a word with Marcus and get to the bottom of what is really happening here. “Okay, speak,” I command him the moment the elders are gone. He lets out a sigh and avoids Leroy, who is giving him unimpressed looks. “We know how to handle rogues who trespass into our territory
*Leroy POV*I can safely say that I am the happiest man alive. My queen is now six months pregnant. The past few months have been complete bliss. I watch her sleep with my heart full. “Our mate is gorgeous,” Sky links and I chuckle right when she opens her alluring golden eyes and gaze at me. Lord, this woman is my life.“Morning, Beautiful,” I greet her and plant a kiss on her lips. “I look like a balloon ready to pop,” she refutes my words and sits up. “You are the most beautiful pregnant woman I have ever seen,” I declare and she rolls her eyes at me and pokes my chest. She really is gorgeous, but she does not believe me. “You are biased.”“Alloy thinks so too,” I tell her and she rolls her eyes again. “That smitten puppy does not count.”I can’t help but laugh. Alloy is amongst the most powerful hybrids around, but he becomes worse than a smitten puppy around my wife. I suspect that it’s the connection with the girls but my wife refuses to hear it. “Are you sure you are good
*Leroy POV*“Leroy!” “Come on mate. Leroy!” I can hear Marcus and Alloy’s distressed voices before Betty and others join them. I am not quite in a coma because I can hear everyone, but I feel so weak and limp. My eyes feel so heavy, I eventually keep them closed. “His Majesty!” Betty cries out with a shaky voice. I can even hear her galloping heart. She is truly fond of me. “Your Highness!”“What happened?”My Epsilon, then Rufus. They both sound anxious. “I don’t know. We were talking and he just collapsed,” Marcus explains while Alloy volunteers to go and find Cali. I turn to the wolf I have not spoken to since he became the Sable king.“Sky.”Silence. “Sable king?” I call and my idiotic wolf actually laughs.“I am still Sky. Bigger, stronger and better, but it’s still me,” he brags. He is still Sky alright. The cockiness, sound of his voice and our connection is the same. “What’s going on?” I get to the point. “Oh, that.”“What!” I snap. His nonchalant response immediately
Leroy POVEveryone is congratulating me on becoming the ultimate king, but I my mind is miles away. I can’t concentrate. I have to act now before another mate shows up. I just can’t lose Cali. Alloy raises his eyebrows when I pull him to the outside, away from eavesdroppers. “You should be ecstatic, but you are not. What’s up?” he asks.“I need you to kill me.”His eyes almost pop out of his skull. “Excuse me?”“I can’t have this wolf, Alloy. I need you to destroy my wolf,” I clarify my statement and he frantically shakes his head. “My king, I…”“I cannot lose Cali. I would rather die than betray her,” I interject before he tries to convince me otherwise. “I don’t get it. Did you two fight?”“I still have other mates,” I let him in on my curse disguised as a blessing and curses nonstop. “Shit! Damn it! Oh, man. This is bad. Bloody hell!“Now, what?” he asks after a good ten minutes of him cursing. “Gold could separate me from Sky. Maybe she can still do it with the Sable king,”
*Leroy POV*“Are you mad at me?” Gold asks with a squeaky voice the moment Cali drifts off to sleep. “Can I ever be mad at you?” I respond with a question. She is crazy and all, but I absolutely adore her, and I don’t think even Sky can be mad at her.“Good, because we have princesses on the way.”“We do, huh?” I ask, amused. Sky already told me about this when we were in coma. “Yes, we need to deal with that Alloy,” she says, and I can’t help but laugh. “I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Alloy is the most ethical man I know. We do need him to keep everyone in check and the pups safe,” I tell her, but she is not convinced. “Remember how crazy the Lycans got around you and Cali? Someone more powerful than me has got to be around here,” I add. I don’t know how I feel about Alloy being my daughter’s mate one day, but I need him here because he is capable, and I trust him. “What if he tries stupid stuff with our pups?” Gold asks, raising Sky’s protective side. “I will k
*Cali POV* I am relieved when the Palmville pack leaves with Zenith. That girl is crazy. It turns out that she is carrying Duncan’s pup. That did not stop her from trying to pass the pup on to Leroy. Now that the plan did not work, she has declared herself Duncan’s Luna, even though she is not his mate. It’s only now that Luna Sarah informs me that Leroy is lucky to have managed to reject her. Apparently, she goes for the Beta’s when she and Duncan fight. That has placed a strain between the Betas and their future Alpha. I can’t believe that they lied and sang her praises when they arrived here because they wanted to get her away from their son. I remember her even saying Leroy was all Zenith spoke about since they rescued her. It’s an hour later when Alloy and Neptune’s parents arrive with Rufus, their famous Epsilon. “Rufus wanted to tag along. I hope Her Highness does not mind,” Terrence says and bows his head. I make eye contact with our Epsilon. I know that Rufus
*Cali POV*Zenith has just stormed out when I feel a piercing pain followed by a burning sensation on my neck. “Your marks have resurfaced!” Betty exclaims. “Love always prevails,” she declares excitedly. My hand instinctively move to touch the two overlapping marks on my neck. My heart hammers against my chest. I don’t know what this means, but I think it’s a victory of some sort. “Two marks, this is incredible!” Alloy beams, quickly takes out his phone and takes my photograph. This man is really weird. I give him the look and he gives me a sheepish grin. “You are the only She-lycan. This is vital information for our species, My Queen,” he explains his weirdness. I only shake my head. I don’t have to the energy to deal with him right now. “Let’s give our queen privacy,” Betty instructs, takes a fast asleep Cale from me and ushers everyone out of my chambers, leaving me with the unconscious Leroy and the Epsilon. I am really grateful for her quick reaction and thoughtfulness.
