* Leroy POV*
“Excuse me?”She gets off the bed and winces when her feet touch the floor. The fact that she remains standing speaks to the amount of pain she is able to bare.“Please, don’t go.”She sounds really shaken but I don’t understand why.“Are you are scared of Marcus?”She turns her head away. I don’t know if that’s a confirmation or not.“He will never touch you. You have my word.”Marcus might come across as an ass but he is the gentlest of souls.“Please stay,” she continues to plead until I close the door and walk back towards her. She looks genuinely scared but I don’t get it.“Okay, what is it?”She swallows her saliva and casts her eyes down.“So?”“I.. I have shared a shed with other slaves my whole life.”“I know. This is much more comfortable,” I explain but I still don’t understand why she is scared. “I’ve never slept alone. This room, it’s massive.” Her voice is like a whisper. It’s sad that she grew up like that but the implications of her unspoken words are quite amusing. I can’t help it but dive into my mischievous side.“So, you want a sleeping mate?”She nods and my heart dances. I can’t believe this!“And what do I get?”“I will kiss you anytime you want.”I should be worried by the fact that her bribe is more than acceptable to both my wolf and I. I am already looking forward to exploring those soft lips again.“Is that all you got?” I ask to avoid being so easy. She shrugs her shoulders in a confident stunt as if saying ‘it’s your loss.’ I can only conclude that she knows how hot she is.“Marcus won’t approve and people will talk.”She nods her head, but I can still see the fear in her eyes. The goddess is really scared of sleeping alone.“You know she is just going to ask someone else if you leave right? I bet that person won’t be stupid enough to refuse,” Sky links and I curse inside before studying her for a few minutes. Bruised and battered, she is still gorgeous and those pyjamas are not meant to make anyone look like this. Maybe it’s because she always hides her bootylicious body with the extra sized clothes she always wears. It’s a futile exercise to try imagine her still in her usual baggy clothes, not when her bust, tiny waist and curved hips are accentuated like this. I feel like my fate is already sealed here.“Keep that window open. I might just come by later,” I instruct.Her eyes turn towards the window, the smile that forms on her face melts my stupid heart.“Sneaky! I like it!” My wolf is actually thrilled while I am terrified of what I am doing. If Diana or Rose hear of this, she will be as good as dead.She nods her head but remains standing on the same spot until I walk out and close the door behind me.Marcus must have heard the door open and close because I find him on the stairway.“Satisfied that she is safe?” I can tell from his tone that he is still not impressed with with.“It was not about that. You know that I trust you.”He folds his arms across his chest with a straight face.“What was it about then?”“I promised not to leave her when I found her in the woods. I had to keep my word.”He nods but I can tell that he is letting me off easy.“See you tomorrow then.”“We don’t have any scheduled meeting for tomorrow.”He grins at me. He is my best friend but I don’t see him everyday. He is assuming that I will come back for her. The unsettling thing is that he is right. In fact, I am not even leaving.I let Sky take over and sprint towards the gate. Marcus’ guards bow when they see me dash out. Instead of heading home, I make a run around the high walled fence until all the lights in the mansion are off. That’s when I jump over. It helps having an Alpha wolf, these walls are nothing to Sky.Her window is directly above the veranda. It is unsettlingly easy getting on the first floor and back inside.I left over thirty minutes ago, but she is still standing on the same spot I left her on. She has clearly not moved since I left.“Your Majesty!” she exclaims, and looks away with her cheeks burning when I shift into my naked human form.I chuckle at her reaction as I quickly get dressed. I am able to shift into my clothing, but her reaction is much more rewarding. She has already seen me naked before. I felt her heart race that day in the woods. Today I get to hear it and see her face.“You should be in bed, unless you want me to tug you in.”She blushes, before regaining her composure.“You came!”Her sparkling eyes and excitement makes deceiving my best friend worth it.“I keep my word, nameless girl.”“Thank you,” with that she slips back in bed and leaves the blankets open for me.I slip in beside her and expect the whole thing to be uncomfortable, but it’s not. That on it’s own should make me worry. She sleeps like a baby while I stare at the ceiling wondering what the fuck I am doing. I am almost beyond teenage years, I should not be acting this way, especially when I know what’s at stake.I don’t know when I finally fell asleep but her golden eyes are the first thing I see when I wake up. Something about her eyes makes me lose every bit of self control but I can’t afford to. I focus on her button nose and luscious lips instead. Damn! Those are so juicy.“And I am thirsty,” my wolf adds.“Your Majesty.”“Morning, Cali.”She sits up and looks curiously at me.“Cali?”“It means beautiful. Cali Taylor is your new name.”Leaving someone nameless is the cruelest thing ever in the warewolf community. It speaks to how ruthless her master was but also to our pack laws that allow it. At least the Omegas have some rights however limited. They have documents and some sense of belonging in their lowest hierarchy, not the nameless slaves.I went through a vast number of names and this was the most fitting for her and the only one Sky agreed on.“You….” she chokes and tears roll down her cheeks.“Hey, it’s okay. We can come up with another one if you don’t like this one.”She frantically shakes her head and smiles through her tears. “I love it. It’s unique.”“Like the owner,” I respond charmingly, relieved that she likes it.She blushes and wipes away her tears. Sweet!“Slow down with flattery lover boy. Unless you plan on finishing it,” Sky links but the thrill is unrealistically tempting.“Shut up Sky.”“It’s enough that we slept next to her. I hate being left hanging,” my wolf complains.Not touching her the whole night was torture for my wolf and I, but I like seeing her cheeks burn.“Get used to it.”Sky huffs, not impressed with me but my attention is on her and the breathtaking smile that has replaced her tears. I have never seen an angel but I am certain one would look more like this.“I have an identity,” she whispers.I sit up and tug back her hair loc.“You have an identity, gorgeous.”“I guess I owe you a kiss?”I had completely forgotten about my reward for being her sleep mate. My heart is now racing with anticipation.“Don’t!” Sky warns.I ignore my wolf and lock eyes with her.“What do you think?”It’s like a dare and she rises up to the challenge. Alarm bells go off in my head the moment our lips meet, but it’s too late. I soon have her pinned under my body. My head is buried on her neck when her hands slip under my shirt trying to remove it. That’s when I snap out of the spell and curse out loud.Shit! This girl is dangerous!“I told you not to,” Sky is irritated but we were together in this.“Are you not going to stop me?”I ask and she looks at me like I am crazy before responding. “No.”“You are eighteen, damn it!” I snap, getting off her and out of the bed.I am more frustrated with myself than her. She sits up but remains on the bed. Her sharp stare tells me that my tone is not appreciated.“You bought me. I don’t know the extent of your ownership on me.”Fuck! This girl is even glaring at me.“I bought you to save you, not for this. I have to go.”She shrugs her shoulders as if to say ‘soothe yourself’ and I want to kick myself for kissing her in the first place. She is an immature seventeen year old for heaven’s sake.“Told you.” My stupid wolf links, rubbing my stupidity in.“Shut up Sky. Have you sensed something about her?”“Like what?”“She does not shrink when I raise my voice. She…”“Glares and retaliates?” Sky responds. He gets it. Her reactions are not subtle, she does not even try to hide her emotions. As the Alpha, every wolf in the pack submits to me. No one dares raise their voice at me, let alone glare like she does.“Slaves don’t do that.”I have saved a lot of slaves, they would take every crap you throw at them and do anything to please. It takes a lot of therapy to get them off that slave mentality.“You think she is royalty?” Sky asks.“She acts like it but I don’t know anything about her.”In fact, no one knows anything about her. I presume someone would have come looking years ago if she was royalty.“I can’t sense anything right now. I will be able to when she has her wolf.”I can hear the desperation in Sky’s voice. He hates uncertainties.“I guess we will know soon.”“Until then, stop kissing her unless you want a pub with her.”I can’t believe that my wolf has become my voice of reason when he is usually the one cheering me on.“Okay.”I would be stupid to after what happened this morning.*Cali POV*A week later…Its been a rollercoaster of a week. My head has been spinning since the day I became “Marcus’ possession”. I am not allowed to do any chores. I have my own suite with a cupboard full of designer clothes and I get to sit at the massive dining table and choose what I eat. It’s all so overwhelming. Nora, other maids and the guards treat me like a princess. It’s still so strange how unrealistically happy they all seem and how they absolutely adore their master. I call them master Marcus fan club. Today will be my first day returning to school. I woke up at dawn like I use to at Beta Diana’s home. Leroy pulled me back to bed and reminded me that I had nothing to do but get myself ready. It’s after seven when I walk down the stairs and find Marcus waiting for me. His eyes light up and his infectious smile spread across his face. Dark chocolate skin tone, sharp eyes and jaw, well trimmed beard and moustache. Beside his wealth, this man is a catch. No wonder girls
*Leroy POV*My life is becoming a complicated mess. I am drawn to Cali I can’t help it. She looks so good in her pyjamas it takes everything in me not to ravage her. As if that’s not bad enough, she looks like a goddess at school. It’s been weeks since she returned to school as Marcus’ but I am not getting used to it. Seeing how the guys look at her drives me crazy. Some have even offered to buy her from Marcus. Definitely out of the question. I am in a foul mood tonight. The royal blue dress she was wearing today was an eye turner. Rose even caught me staring. Sky wanted to pounce at every guy in the class. I climb up into her suite and close the window. She is on her pyjamas and standing where she usually waits for me. I roughly grab her chin before she speaks. “What the fuck are you doing?”She searches my eyes and just stares at me. This woman is infuriating. “You wore that dress to get to me.”“You are mad that I wore my favourite dress?” her nonchalant tone ticks me off. She
*Cali POV*Wolf or no wolf, it’s obvious to me that Leroy is my mate. He gets on my nerves like no other yet when our eyes meet, I completely melt. His kisses take me to places I never knew existed and I don’t want it to ever end. I will be eighteen soon and we can be together freely.I stand on my waiting spot, my eyes heavy and my heart sinking. It’s past midnight and he is not here. I have never slept alone at night, but I am no longer scared. I have fallen asleep in this room during the day and I was fine. What is scary is him not being here. He is mad at me. I pushed him too far. My heart is aching. I completely freeze when I notice my curtains move. I want to run into his arms but my feet seem to be stuck on the ground. He looks at me and sighs. “Let’s just sleep,” he says with a neutral tone and walks towards the bed. “I am sorry,” I blurt out. He stops and turns to look at me, surprised and it hurts. He did not expect me to apologise yet he came. “For what exactly?”“For
We arrive at school to find everyone busy setting up their projects. I get envious looks as Marcus escorts me around until we reach our table. He always makes me feel like a princess and his admirers hate it. Well, it’s my birthday, I don’t care who gets offended. A Mexican wave forms as everyone bows to Leroy who makes big strides towards us.“Your Highne…”I am whisked into Leroy’s arms before I could complete my sentence. His cologne rushed into my nostrils rendering me breathless. “Leroy,” Marcus warns while his best friend squeezes me so tight I cant breathe and I can’t think. Leroy literally growls at Marcus who takes two steps back away from us. I can feel Leroy relax but he squeezes me tighter in his arms and inhales loudly. “Happy birthday Gorgeous. You take my breath away,” he murmured, making me blush and my heart race. “You are creating a scene,” I manage to whisper to Leroy whose heart is hammering against mine. I can see Rose sending daggers my direction while the
*Cali POV*“We meet again Golden spark,” the old grey haired prophet says. I don’t really know why he calls me that but it’s always been better than nameless girl everyone used to call me. “Eighteen not what you expected. Meeting your wolf will be the same, so will be your mate,” he adds with the same mysterious aura I can never quite figure out. I am yet to meet someone who can understand this old man’s riddles. As an epsilon he is very respected in the pack. I am very fond of him because he told me when my birthday was, otherwise I would not even know that I turned eighteen today. “When is the full moon?” I ask a question that has become very important to me. He is right that eighteen has not turned out the way I anticipated. He is right about most things, probably all but no one fully understands what he means most of the time. He studies me for a moment as if deciding if to tell me or not. “Please, I need to know,” I plead. Leroy is not my mate. I might be homeless and back to
*Leroy POV*Cali is eighteen and I can’t restrain myself. Sky is also behaving weirdly. Does that mean she is my mate?The rest of the day spins out of control. One moment I am possessing over Cali, the next Sky is screaming Mate to one of the gorgeous women I know. Phoebe is everything a man can ever ask. Drop dead gorgeous, graceful and just perfect for my Luna. Both Sky and I reluctantly let Phoebe return home. “It’s okay. We will mark her the next full moon and she will never leave our side,” I comfort my whining wolf. I have also made certain that our mate is protected. Her pack knows that she might be in danger from Diana and Rose and will have two of their best Betas protecting her.“And Cali?” Sky links and I have no answers. “That’s your tuff. You tell me!” I snap at him. “She has no wolf. I still don’t know,” Sky responds and I can’t believe this. “Seriously? The fact that Phoebe is our mate means Cali is obviously not!” I snap at Sky again. It is almost dark, I am head
*Leroy POV*Forty-five minutes later, I, Marcus and Linda stand at Cali’s bedside. She is hardly breathing but my heart refuses to accept it. “Her injuries are too severe. They are not compatible with life,” Linda explains while I frantically shake my head. “I am so sorry, you have to bid her good…”“No. Fix her,” I interject and storm out. Sky has been continuously groaning and whining, I can’t concentrate. “Leroy,” Marcus calls and follows me. I sit on the stairs with my chest tight and my whole body trembling. Resting my heavy head on my palms, that horrific scene plays over in my head. She sacrificed herself for me. “Are you okay?” Marcus asks. I can hear the sadness in his voice. He treated Cali as his little sister. “It’s all my fault. I am sorry.” I respond without lifting my head.“Leroy,”he calls me again.“It was her birthday. I promised to join her at the lake and I completely forgot about her,” I qualify my statement. “You met your mate. You had no control over that,”
Cali POVI open my eyes to a dimmed room. My eyes scan the surrounding only to find Doctor Grey, Marcus and Leroy staring curiously at me. I momentarily close my eyes shut, trying to recall what happened that could bring them to my bedroom and stare at me like this. Leroy suddenly shift into Sky who runs to me and starts licking my face and neck. I run my hands through his fluffy fur before everything that happened comes crashing back to me. My heart aches terribly when images of Leroy and his mate play out in my head. I can feel my chest closing in and try to take measured quick breaths. That helps to calm me momentarily until I pay attention to what Sky is doing. The she-wolf bit me. She took off a chunk of my neck before I passed out. I instinctively touch my neck and frown. Could I have been dreaming? It felt so real. If I was dreaming then why is doctor Grey here?I look at the doctor hoping she will say something but she only shrugs her shoulders and smiles at me. “A rogue
*Cali POV*My eyes are shutting down when I see him. “No!” the witch cries in disbelief as my fuming Epsilon and Rufus snatch their charms from her neck. I drop on the floor and hungrily take in the air I was starved off a minute earlier. I sit up in time to notice the witch’s hair turning red. She is trying to flee when my extended, mighty and pissed-off family arrives. Now we are even. “Go be with her,” Alloy tells my fuming mate, whose eyes are blazing at our attackers. The idiots are now trembling. I wonder what their end game was. Kill Leroy and the witch would kill me, then what? Alloy’s family were still going to avenge us, or did they not think that far?They start hauling in distress but I don’t think anyone is going to come to their rescue. They now have the Sable king, a hybrid, two Lycans, and an inferno wolf against them. We have won. Sky looks at me, but I know what he wants. “Finish them off,” I link and he goes wild. I should not cheer him on as he alienate the f
*Cali POV*“She is lying and trying to get between us!” Rose snaps, her eyes blazing at me. I don’t know when Leroy snatched Rose from Alloy, but in a split moment she is on the floor lifeless.“No one talks to my mate like that!” it’s Sky who roars. My hero. I strangely don’t feel any pain for Rose. I hope Leroy doesn’t regret this afterwards. “We are outnumbered,” Marcus reports as if Leroy did not just kill Rose. “Cali and the pups are priority,” Leroy says before running his hand over by tummy. Marcus and Alloy nod while I shake my head. Can’t they see that I am not the one in danger?“No. They are here for you,” I tell Leroy who shrugs. “It does not matter. You and our pups take priority,” he insists. “It matters to me, Leroy. Let me go speak to them. They will not touch me,” I present an alternative as the hauling gets closer. That means the gate guards and the ones outside are already outnumbered. “No!” they all respond in unison. “Stop being cavemen. They won’t touch me
*Cali POV*I insisted that we come to see the Ruber pack because I know my brother. He is trying to water everything down, but he would not be insisting that I convince Leroy to come if there truly was nothing to worry about. The elders are thrilled to see us, but I can sense something they are not saying. “Rogues are becoming a problem, Sire,” one elder says but Leroy is more focused on me than what is not being said. “We have always had rogues, we have competent warriors to deal with them,” he tells them dismissively. They bow their heads respectfully. I guess they can sense his irritation that we had to come. Many are also very scared of the do-called Sable king. I can’t contradict him here, but I need to have a word with Marcus and get to the bottom of what is really happening here. “Okay, speak,” I command him the moment the elders are gone. He lets out a sigh and avoids Leroy, who is giving him unimpressed looks. “We know how to handle rogues who trespass into our territory
*Leroy POV*I can safely say that I am the happiest man alive. My queen is now six months pregnant. The past few months have been complete bliss. I watch her sleep with my heart full. “Our mate is gorgeous,” Sky links and I chuckle right when she opens her alluring golden eyes and gaze at me. Lord, this woman is my life.“Morning, Beautiful,” I greet her and plant a kiss on her lips. “I look like a balloon ready to pop,” she refutes my words and sits up. “You are the most beautiful pregnant woman I have ever seen,” I declare and she rolls her eyes at me and pokes my chest. She really is gorgeous, but she does not believe me. “You are biased.”“Alloy thinks so too,” I tell her and she rolls her eyes again. “That smitten puppy does not count.”I can’t help but laugh. Alloy is amongst the most powerful hybrids around, but he becomes worse than a smitten puppy around my wife. I suspect that it’s the connection with the girls but my wife refuses to hear it. “Are you sure you are good
*Leroy POV*“Leroy!” “Come on mate. Leroy!” I can hear Marcus and Alloy’s distressed voices before Betty and others join them. I am not quite in a coma because I can hear everyone, but I feel so weak and limp. My eyes feel so heavy, I eventually keep them closed. “His Majesty!” Betty cries out with a shaky voice. I can even hear her galloping heart. She is truly fond of me. “Your Highness!”“What happened?”My Epsilon, then Rufus. They both sound anxious. “I don’t know. We were talking and he just collapsed,” Marcus explains while Alloy volunteers to go and find Cali. I turn to the wolf I have not spoken to since he became the Sable king.“Sky.”Silence. “Sable king?” I call and my idiotic wolf actually laughs.“I am still Sky. Bigger, stronger and better, but it’s still me,” he brags. He is still Sky alright. The cockiness, sound of his voice and our connection is the same. “What’s going on?” I get to the point. “Oh, that.”“What!” I snap. His nonchalant response immediately
Leroy POVEveryone is congratulating me on becoming the ultimate king, but I my mind is miles away. I can’t concentrate. I have to act now before another mate shows up. I just can’t lose Cali. Alloy raises his eyebrows when I pull him to the outside, away from eavesdroppers. “You should be ecstatic, but you are not. What’s up?” he asks.“I need you to kill me.”His eyes almost pop out of his skull. “Excuse me?”“I can’t have this wolf, Alloy. I need you to destroy my wolf,” I clarify my statement and he frantically shakes his head. “My king, I…”“I cannot lose Cali. I would rather die than betray her,” I interject before he tries to convince me otherwise. “I don’t get it. Did you two fight?”“I still have other mates,” I let him in on my curse disguised as a blessing and curses nonstop. “Shit! Damn it! Oh, man. This is bad. Bloody hell!“Now, what?” he asks after a good ten minutes of him cursing. “Gold could separate me from Sky. Maybe she can still do it with the Sable king,”
*Leroy POV*“Are you mad at me?” Gold asks with a squeaky voice the moment Cali drifts off to sleep. “Can I ever be mad at you?” I respond with a question. She is crazy and all, but I absolutely adore her, and I don’t think even Sky can be mad at her.“Good, because we have princesses on the way.”“We do, huh?” I ask, amused. Sky already told me about this when we were in coma. “Yes, we need to deal with that Alloy,” she says, and I can’t help but laugh. “I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Alloy is the most ethical man I know. We do need him to keep everyone in check and the pups safe,” I tell her, but she is not convinced. “Remember how crazy the Lycans got around you and Cali? Someone more powerful than me has got to be around here,” I add. I don’t know how I feel about Alloy being my daughter’s mate one day, but I need him here because he is capable, and I trust him. “What if he tries stupid stuff with our pups?” Gold asks, raising Sky’s protective side. “I will k
*Cali POV* I am relieved when the Palmville pack leaves with Zenith. That girl is crazy. It turns out that she is carrying Duncan’s pup. That did not stop her from trying to pass the pup on to Leroy. Now that the plan did not work, she has declared herself Duncan’s Luna, even though she is not his mate. It’s only now that Luna Sarah informs me that Leroy is lucky to have managed to reject her. Apparently, she goes for the Beta’s when she and Duncan fight. That has placed a strain between the Betas and their future Alpha. I can’t believe that they lied and sang her praises when they arrived here because they wanted to get her away from their son. I remember her even saying Leroy was all Zenith spoke about since they rescued her. It’s an hour later when Alloy and Neptune’s parents arrive with Rufus, their famous Epsilon. “Rufus wanted to tag along. I hope Her Highness does not mind,” Terrence says and bows his head. I make eye contact with our Epsilon. I know that Rufus
*Cali POV*Zenith has just stormed out when I feel a piercing pain followed by a burning sensation on my neck. “Your marks have resurfaced!” Betty exclaims. “Love always prevails,” she declares excitedly. My hand instinctively move to touch the two overlapping marks on my neck. My heart hammers against my chest. I don’t know what this means, but I think it’s a victory of some sort. “Two marks, this is incredible!” Alloy beams, quickly takes out his phone and takes my photograph. This man is really weird. I give him the look and he gives me a sheepish grin. “You are the only She-lycan. This is vital information for our species, My Queen,” he explains his weirdness. I only shake my head. I don’t have to the energy to deal with him right now. “Let’s give our queen privacy,” Betty instructs, takes a fast asleep Cale from me and ushers everyone out of my chambers, leaving me with the unconscious Leroy and the Epsilon. I am really grateful for her quick reaction and thoughtfulness.
