CHAPTER 11

AN UNSETTLING FEELING

Betty's POV:

It was getting close to winter from the way the air left a tingle over my skin as I took a quick breath of the cold air. I was seated outside the small hut-like house, wrapped in a small piece of clothing in an attempt to fight against the growing cold in the air.

“Are you even listening to me?”, Emelia asked, particularly annoyed that I was gone day-dreaming again, gazing at me like I had something on my face. I offered a sheepy smile.

“Yeah,I am.. I was just thinking..,” I told her.

“Thinking about what?”,she asked curiously.

I heaved a slight sigh, before speaking.

“ I'm just worried..winter seems fast approaching and the crops aren't ready for harvest and Maria said..what if we aren't able to harvest the crops before winter.. what if we can't..” she placed one of her fingers on my lips in a shushing manner. I knew I was worrying too much..I was naturally a worry-watt but I had to.. what if we weren't able to give our harvest to the
