Hudson and Alvara slowly opened their eyes.

Looking around, Alvara couldn’t recognize where she was but Hudson on the other hand, knew where they were.

“ You’re awake” A thick muscular said and they both looked over to where the voice came from.

Standing there was a man with a curled black hair and a chiseled angular face, resting his back on the wall, his hand folded before his chest and leg crossed.

“ Dad” Hudson called jerking up from the bed.

“ Dad?” Alvara muttered in disbelief.

“ Ok, wait a minute. Who are the both of you and why am I here? What am I doing in the same bed with this guy and who brought me here?” Alvara asked all at once.

“ Calm down young lady, I don’t bite. One question at a time” Bernard replied, his hand raised up in a surrender.

“ Fine, the first question; Who are the both of you?” Alvara asked.

“ Let’s just say, we’re strangers and I saved your life” Bernard replied plainly.

“ Saved my life, from what?” Alvara asked.

“ Don’t you remember what happened after you got to the club yesterday?” Bernard asked.

Hudson and Alvara shot their eyes close and everything came flooding, starting from when they entered the club and what they encounter, their outburst of rage and they both flung their eyes open, panting heavily.

“ It’s all over the news. The building collapse and everyone present……died” Bernard said.

The two teenagers turned to him, their lips parted in shock.

“ The CCTV caught the both of you but I was able to drive you guys out before the cops came” Bernard added.

“ Dad” Hudson called faintly as tears pricked his eyes.

“ We…killed…everybody” Alvara mounted, staring blankly at space.

Guilt filled their hearts.

“ How did it happen….I mean, how is it even possible?” Hudson asked.

Bernard let out a sad sigh. He knew exactly what happened to the both of them.

“ Tell me Hudson, what happened?” He asked.

“ I don’t know dad. When those boys were giving me a hard time, I didn’t know how it happened but I felt a rush of anger and power through and….and….that happened?” Hudson tried explaining but the last sentence came out as a question.

“ Same for me, that rush of rage and power made me lost it” Alvara said.

“ Listen to what I want to tell you both now but first promise you won’t be shocked” Bernard said and the two shot him a suspicious look.

“ We’re all ears” They both said.

“ Am sorry to say this but the both of you are…….

The two stared patiently at him, waiting to hear the last word.

“ The both of you are.........MUTANTS” Bernard finally let the word roll off his tongue.

“ What?!!” The two exclaimed in shock, having different facial expressions.

Hudson was shocked with the mention of mutants but Alvara was confused. She haven’t heard of the word before.

“ We’re mutants?” Hudson asked not wanting to believe what his father just said.

“ Ok, sorry but this young lady here is totally lost” Alvara said.

“ What is mutant?” She asked with a raised eyebrow and Hudson glared at her in disbelief.

“ We’re in the 21st century and you don’t know who mutants are, seriously?” He asked.

“ Oh sorry if it is a shock to you. You might as well start explaining instead of asking some stupid questions” Alvara snapped making Hudson scoff.

“ So now, I’m the one asking the stupid question?” He asked.

“ Enough the both of you” Bernard half yelled and the two shot each other a glare.

“ I’ll do the explanation” He added and Alvara nodded.

“ Mutants are humans with a genetic mutation know as X-GENE, that causes their bodies to develop abilities that regular homosapiens (humans) can’t” Bernard explained.

“ Ok, what is mutation?” Alvara asked.

“ The alternation in the genetic material like the DNA of a cell of a living organism resulting from either accidents during chemical transaction or from exposure to electromagnetic radiation” Hudson replied.

“ Wow. So you’re trying to say that we have super powers?” Alvara asked.

“ Yeah, if you want to say like a dummy” Hudson hissed.

“ But that’s great news I mean like wow, we have superpowers, we can do whatever we like” Alvara chuckled happily making Hudson roll his eyes.

“ No it is not?” He said and Alvara’s face squeezed up in a frown.

“ Why?” She asked.

“ That is because, in the world we are right now, there is a great racism against mutants. They are viewed as monsters and hated by everyone” Bernard replied.

“ But why, what did we do wrong?” Alvara asked.

“ That’s a long story. Right now, we have to look for a way to get you both on a safe place before…..

Bernard was interrupted by the ringing of the bell.

“ Dad, I think they’re here” Hudson said in fear.

“ Who?” Alvara asked confused.

“ The people who are about to arrest us and lock us up!” Hudson snapped angrily.

“ Calm down Hudson, I’ll go check whose at the door” Bernard said, walking over to the door. He stopped and turned.

“ Listen, no matter what, you both shouldn’t come downstairs, never” He warned.

“ But what if something…..

“ I’ll be fine. Just do as I said and stay here” Bernard said.

Hudson nodded in agreement and Ben ( Bernard ) headed downstairs.

Alvara rubbed her palms together, trying to ease her tension.

Ben opened the door and standing before him was two cops from the Sentinel service( they are responsible for arresting mutants)

“ Oh Liam, Matteo, what brings you guys to my house?” Ben asked, a smile on his lips, trying as much as possible to hide his fear.

“ Cut the crap with your formality, Bernard, you know why we’re here. We wouldn’t want you to waste our time” One of the cops snapped.

“ I don’t understand what you’re talking about, Matteo” Ben replied.

“ Where is your son and that monster girlfriend of his?” Matteo asked impatiently.

“ Why would you want to see my son?” Ben chuckled lightly.

“ Quit the pretense like you’re not aware of the havoc your son and his girlfriend created. They killed all those innocent lives and you yourself is familiar with what we do to monsters like them, so step out of the way” The other cop, Liam snapped.

“ Am sorry but….

They didn’t let Ben finish before the push him off the way with force sending him crashing to the wall and landed with a loud thud on the floor.

They both stepped in, looking around as they slip out their guns.

“ Hudson Bernard we know you’re in here with your other culprit. We’re from the Sentinel and we want you to cooperate with us. Do yourself good by surrendering, we won’t bite” Matteo announced loud enough for Hudson and Alvara to hear him.

“ Fuck. What am I gonna do?” Hudson cursed under his breath.

“ We can’t go downstairs, your Dad instructed us not to” Alvara said.

“ But what if he’s in danger? I’m sure he didn’t let them in himself” Hudson said.

“ Hudson, we want you to surrender or we do it the hard way” Matteo announced.

“ I have to go downstairs” Hudson said rushing to the door.

Alvara went after him and grabbed his wrist.

“ You can’t do that” She glared sternly but Hudson flung her hand off.

“You don’t tell me what to do” He glared angrily at her.

They both heard a gun shot, breaking their glares.

“ Dad” Hudson called running out while Alvara trailed after him.

Hudson got downstairs and met the worst shock of his life. Ben was lying on the floor covered with blood.

“ Dad” Hudson yelled and tried to move but was stopped when held at gunpoint.

“ I won’t move an inch if I were you” Liam smirked.

Anger ran through Hudson and he closed his eyes.

He started vibrating in anger and the ground started vibrating too.

Matteo, Liam and Alvara held on to the wall to prevent them from slumping to the floor.

The walls of the building started cracking.

“ How dare you?!” Hudson roared and the windows bursted.

“ Chill daddy boy, we meant no harm” Liam shuttered in fear.

“ Hudson” Alvara called trying to calm him down.

Just when Hudson was about bursting in rage, Alvara held his wrist, stopping him just on time.

Hudson’s anger died down immediately and he shot his eyes open.

“ Why did you stop me?” He growled in anger.

“ You might end up killing all of us. Now instead of letting your anger get the best of you, why don’t we focus on getting your father out of here” Alvara replied.

“ How?” Hudson asked.

“ I have a plan” Alvara replied with a smirk.

Matteo and Liam finally stood on their feet after much struggling and they both pointed their guns at the them.

“ Freeze and don’t move” Liam managed to say.

Alvara stood before them, her hands raised in a surrender and a smirk on her face.

She slowly closed her eyes and felt that same rush of power before she shot her eyes open.

“ How about I send you both flying in the air, huh?” She smirked.

Stretching out her hand, her palms wide open, a strong wave emitted from her palm, sending Liam and Matteo flying and crashing into the wall.

The wall covered the both of them, burying them.

“ Wow” Hudson muttered.

“ Let’s go” Alvara said and helped Hudson carry Bernard.

They got to the backyard and entered the bush. 

They were running though they couldn’t run much far because of how heavy Bernard is.

They ran a good mile and stopped, placing Bernard gently on the floor.

“ Dad” Hudson called, tapping Ben’s cheek.

“ Dad, please open your eyes” Hudson called out again trying hard to fight back his tears.

Alvara started removing the top she was putting on.

“ What are you doing?” Hudson asked but Alvara ignored him.

She removed her top, leaving her with only her singlet.

Hudson heaved in relief. For once he thought he was gonna see a lady in only her bra.

Alvara folded her top and squatted before Ben. Placing the folded top on the spot where he was shot, she exerted pressure on it.

“ Continue exerting pressure while I try to find a way out of here” She said to Hudson who nodded.

Alvara left, looking for a route out.

Hudson stared at his father who wasn’t responding and a tear slip down his face. He closed his eyes to prevent more tears from falling.

“ Dad, please be ok” He pleaded.

Soon Alvara was back.

“ Any hope?” Hudson asked on seeing her and she nodded negatively.

She squatted before Ben and gestured Hudson to remove the cloth which he complied.

“ What are trying to do?” Hudson asked as she strip off Ben’s shirt. She placed her hand on the spot where Ben was shot and slowly closed her eyes.

“ If I’m really a mutant, then I pray I can heal him” Alvara replied, her eyes still closed.

   She let out a deep sigh before focusing her whole mind on the wound. Seeing herself healing Ben, it gave her more morale.

Hudson watched with parted lips as a blue light shone from Alvara’s palm on top of Ben’s wound.

To his uttermost surprise me, the blood started drying up and a bullet flew out of his stomach, gradually the wound started covering up and soon it was healed completely.

Staring at Ben’s stomach, one could hardly believe he was shot..................
