I didn't know how long we had been fighting for, but no matter what we did, our attack wasn't connecting.

Vesper deflected everything with ease as though we were little, pesky, annoying flies that kept disturbing his morning rest.

But I guess the only thing we were doing right was guarding Kelani and not allowing Vesper to reach her

Also, we were attacking Vesper alone; no one had surfaced to butt in, which was a great thing for us.

I doubted we could take Vesper and another person on. I was exhausted; ever since I had fallen into the unknown pit in the maze wall, it seemed to have sucked my energy partially.

Also, I could see Riley. She seemed to be the one exhausted the most. She was not only combating with her hands, she was casting spells as well, even though we had delegated that to Lia alone.
