Mysterious Husband: Pampering Wife

The smell of disinfectant filled the air in the hospital.

Yvonne Yates dashed excitedly out from the doctor’s office with her test results and was just about to make a phone call when her phone rang. Her uncle’s voice spoke out when she answered it. “Yvonne, are you and Jackson Miller alright?”

“Yeah, we’re fine. Why the sudden question?”

“I heard Jackson brought a pregnant woman to get a checkup the day before yesterday…”

Yvonne laughed. “Did you think Jackson was having an affair?”

“Yes!”

“Don’t worry. Jackson wouldn’t have an affair even if all the other men in the world were having affairs!”

Yvonne dialed for Jackson after she hung up the phone with her uncle. After ringing for a long time, he finally answered. “I’m very busy. Don’t call and bother me if nothing is going on! You hear me!”

His voice was cold and emotionless. Yvonne did not have a chance to say anything before he hung up. Her happiness slowly faded as she held the test results in her hand.

Jackson had always been gentle to her in the past three years of their marriage. Somehow recently, his attitude had changed drastically. Not only had he become distant, but he also did not have the patience to answer her calls anymore. What on earth had happened to cause this change in Jackson?

Lost in her thoughts, Yvonne turned around and noticed a figure calling out to her in a soft voice called out. “Sis!”

When Yvonne looked over, she saw Fiona Summers with another middle-aged woman standing by her. Upon seeing the daughter of her father’s mistress in front of her, Yvonne frowned in disgust. Her voice turned cold as she said, “Don’t call me that. My mom only has me as her daughter!”

Fiona did not get angry. Instead, she pursed her lips and asked in a gentle voice, “Sis, are you here to check up on your infertility?”

“It is none of your business.”

“Aren’t you going to ask me why I'm here at this section of the hospital?” Fiona smiled provokingly. “I’m pregnant! With Jackson’s child!”

It was only then when Yvonne noticed her baby bump. Fiona had never hidden her desires for Jackson and tried seducing him at any given chance before he got married. Yvonne sneered. “Have you lost your mind?”

“Don’t believe me? Take a look at this!” Fiona said as she waved her test results at Yvonne. The expression on Yvonne’s face quickly changed when she recognized the familiar cursive handwriting on the paper. Why is Jackson’s signature on that paper?

“I slept with Jackson four months ago and got pregnant after that night!” Fiona smiled proudly. “Jackson is really happy with this baby, and he wants me to give birth to the baby. After this baby is born, you make way for me!”

Yvonne shook in anger and slapped Fiona across the face. As if scripted in a drama show, Fiona fell to the floor and screamed. “Ah, my belly!”

The slap was meant to hurt Fiona’s face, but when Fiona fell, blood started to flow from her pants and down her legs. Yvonne was shocked. How could that have happened?

The hospital staff rushed Fiona quickly to the emergency room. Yvonne dared not leave and followed along.

After waiting for some time outside of the emergency room, Yvonne heard footsteps coming her way. It was her mother-in-law, Jade Lewis. Jade’s eyes burned with fury. “What on earth happened? Fiona was fine earlier. How did she end up in the emergency room?”

“It was Ms. Yates… no, it was Young Madam Miller who pushed her!” The middle-aged woman accompanying Fiona answered.

“Just because you can’t get pregnant, it doesn’t mean everyone else can’t too,” Jade asked as she slapped Yvonne. Jade had never liked her and did not bother being gentle. Yvonne’s face became swollen. Her mother-in-law’s behavior had clarified Yvonne’s doubts about what Fiona had said earlier.

Despair flooded Yvonne’s heart, and she felt as if she was about to drown in the emotions. At that moment, the doors of the emergency room swung open, and a nurse walked out to inform them that they could not save the baby in Fiona’s womb. Upon hearing the news, Jade was filled with rage that she grabbed Yvonne by the hair to kick and punch her. Yvonne was beaten up so much that she started seeing stars and fainted.

When she came to her senses, all she could see was white surroundings. Her body ached terribly when she tried to sit up. She was leaning against the pillows to catch her breath when a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses pushed the door open and walked in.

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Yates. I am President Miller’s lawyer!”

“Lawyer?” Yvonne stared at the man in front of her in confusion.

“Yes, I am President Miller’s personal lawyer. He has assigned me to discuss matters of your divorce with him.”

“Divorce? Jackson wants a divorce?” Yvonne asked as she thought she might have heard him wrongly.

The lawyer walked over to her bed and handed her a file. “Yes, here are the divorce papers. Have a look at them.” Yvonne’s hands were shaking. Never in her wildest dreams did she think Jackson would ask for a divorce. She did not look at the divorce papers. Instead, she stared at the lawyer and said, “Ask Jackson to meet with me! He can personally ask for the divorce himself!”

“President Miller is extremely busy. He doesn’t have the time for that!”

“He’s busy and has no time?” Yvonne laughed. When did she and Jackson become so estranged from each other that he could not even meet up with her?

She shut her eyes and grabbed her phone from the bedside table. She dialed Jackson’s number but he didn’t pick up. How did her relationship with Jackson turn into this mess? The affairs, the divorce…

The lawyer was still waiting for her. “Ms. Yates, please go through the divorce papers. I’m quite busy too!”

The lawyer’s attitude was intolerable. In the three years of being married to Jackson, everyone had treated her with respect. Now that even the lawyer was treating her so coldly, it was clear that it was Jackson’s intention.

Yvonne picked up the documents and looked for information on the division of properties. All their properties had belonged to Jackson before the marriage and were not listed to be divided. Tears welled up in Yvonne’s eyes. He had once told her that she was his everything and that everything he had belonged to her too. In just a short span of three years, his love had run out. Was Jackson finally revealing his true colors after three years?

He was cheating behind her back and had even gotten his mistress pregnant! Is it time for her to let go of him already? Bitterness filled Yvonne’s heart. Without reading the rest of the documents, she looked up at the lawyer, who had been staring at her. “Give me a pen!”

The lawyer opened up his briefcase and handed Yvonne a pen. Before she took the pen, he added, “President Miller also mentioned that you will not be allowed to take any jewelry that he has bought for you when you leave!”

Yvonne paused and stared blankly ahead for a long time. Just as the lawyer thought that she was going to fight back, she slowly said, “Fine!”

After replying, she took the pen from the lawyer and scrawled her signature on the divorce papers. The lawyer took a glance at the signed papers before he turned and walked away.

A luxurious Aston Martin was parked in the hospital’s parking lot. The windows rolled down, revealing a man with a handsome face in it. The lawyer hurriedly strode toward the car and said respectfully, “President Miller, Madam has signed the papers!”

“She’s signed them?” The man asked slowly as he looked intently at the lawyer. The lawyer’s heart raced, looking at the man’s unreadable expression. He seemed to have something to say, but he could not find the words for it. The man looked away to the night sky before he finally said, “Let’s go!”
