.

Alessa sat quietly across from Rican, trying to steady her nerves. It was odd how calm Rican seemed. She had braced herself for anger, maybe even yelling or accusations. But instead, he sat silently, watching her, his eyes focused and dark in a way she hadn’t seen before. It was a strange mix—calm on the outside but carrying a hidden intensity, like a storm waiting to break. For a moment, she almost wished he would shout, even throw something, anything to break the heavy silence between them. But he just stared.

He finally spoke, his voice low and controlled. “You were saying something. Complete your sentence.” There was an edge to his words, a tone that made her feel more like a stranger than his wife.

Alessa swallowed hard, her throat dry as she took out the file she had brought with her. Slowly, she placed it on the table between them. Rican’s gaze moved to the file but with no sign of curiosity. His expression didn’t change; his face was a blank slate.

Chapter 69 . Sia sat on the edge of the bed, looking a little annoyed. Her mother, Rosaline—who she called Rose—had practically dragged her home. Since they returned from a long business trip, they hadn’t had a real conversation. Their last talk had ended in a fight, not exactly what you'd call a pleasant chat. “I made all your favorite dishes,” Rose said with a smile, setting a large, beautifully arranged plate in front of her. Sia’s eyes lit up as she took in the food: a beautifully seasoned fish with fresh herbs and lemon zest, lightly fried to a golden crisp. Next to it was a side of fluffy white rice with a hint of coconut and fresh green beans sautéed with garlic. A small bowl of spicy, tangy mango chutney was placed beside it, adding a splash of color and sweetness. Sia’s face broke into a big smile. “Thank you, Mom! You have no idea how much I’ve been craving this! So, this is the surprise for me, MOM…” she said eagerly, diving into the food with joy. As Sia t

Chapter 70 . The maid, Nisha, knocked on Rican’s office door, her voice calm but with a hint of urgency. “Sir, someone named Xavier is here to see you.” The name alone was enough to make Rican’s blood boil. His jaw clenched tightly, and fury flashed in his eyes. “He has the audacity to come here after everything he’s done?” Without a second thought, Rican reached into his desk drawer, pulling out his gun. He checked the bullets—two were left. The others had been fired during that last, heated argument with Alessa. He made his way down the staircase, his footsteps slow but determined, each one carrying the weight of his anger. There, standing at the center of the grand hall, was Xavier, hands casually in his pockets, looking as relaxed as ever. When Xavier turned around, he found himself face-to-face with the barrel of Rican’s gun, pointed squarely between his eyes. Rican’s voice was low and dangerous, laced with rage. “You must have a lot of nerve to come here af

He stormed through the hallway, his pace quick and determined, but stopped abruptly when he saw Sia standing at the base of the stairs. “Rican?” she called out, her tone laced with confusion and desperation as she noticed his frantic state. “Where are you going?” He didn’t respond. His focus was singular, his resolve unshaken. His mind was spinning as he replayed the principal’s words in his head.“There was no one by that name…”No one?He leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees, his hands gripping his hair as if trying to ground himself in reality. How could it be possible?“That wasn’t Xavier’s house.” “That wasn’t Xavier’s college.”The weight of it all settled heavily in his chest. A deep anger simmered just below the surface, mixing with the frustration of dead ends and lies.“Are you saying,” Rican began, his voice low and dangerous as he locked eyes with the principal, “that a man who attended classes, interacted with students, and even participated in events wasn’t registered at all in this college? You’re telling me he didn’t exist?”The principal shifted uncomfortably in his chair, guilt evident on his face. “I-I understand your frustration, sir. Chapter 85.Rican sat on the chair beside Alessa’s hospital bed, his shoulders hunched forward in defeat. His right arm in a plaster cast, and the dull ache of his injuries was nothing compared to the torment raging inside him. His gaze was fixed on Alessa’s pale, motionless face. Her fragile frame looked even smaller beneath the white hospital sheets, her skin ashen and her lips chapped. The doctor’s words echoed relentlessly in his mind, slicing through him like a blade: “We are sorry, sir, but we couldn’t save the child. The drug had already spread through her bloodstream, and given her early stage of pregnancy, there was nothing we could do. I’m truly sorry.”Rican gritted his teeth, his hands curling into fists despite the pain in his shoulder. The helpless rage boiling inside him threatened to consume him. How could he have done this? How could he have failed her so completely? It wasn’t just Xavier or Sia who were at fault. No—if anyone was to blame, it was him. Enrico R
