Alessa lay in a hospital bed, her breathing shallow but steady as Dr. Anishta checked her pulse. Her skin looked ghostly pale under the fluorescent lights, and an IV drip provided a steady flow of fluids to her body.

Nearby, Steve stood by, a worried expression on his face. He had found her collapsed on the side of the road just a little while ago, trying to hold herself upright as she stumbled, and her steps faltering.

He had rushed to help her, but before he could reach her, she had fainted, her body collapsing to the ground. Without wasting a second, he had picked her up and brought her to the nearest hospital.
