Gaius.

There was only a day left for the coronation of the Luna. Once we were done with the crowning and all, I was ready to bash anybody who spoke ill of my mate. Compared to the punishment of the Elder, the punishment would be worse.

“Is everything ready for tomorrow’s occasion?” I asked the Elder that was in charge of the ceremony.

“Yes, Alpha Gaius.” He answered, nodding his head to support his words.

“Good,” I said, nodding my head as well. When everything was discussed about tomorrow, I released the man to go on his own. I was about to call the person in charge of the clothes needed for the occasion when the Beta walked in, a gloomy look on his face.

“Alpha.” He called in a solemn voice. I knew that something was wrong somehow.

“What is it? What’s happening?” I asked, looking at him. The phone in my hand was long forgotten for its purpose.

Silently, the man handed me an envelope. I collected it from him with curiosity and quickly opened it to read. I sighed when I saw tha

Even before he moved with speed from where he stood and was soon standing in front of me. “Do you want to die?!” He growled and held my throat. I staggered backward and tried to move away from him but it proved abortive. I soon found that it was not possible so I held his hand with mine to get him to move off. When I realized that I could not break free, I began to slap his hand. My eyes began to water and I couldn’t hold my breath for long anymore. I tried to control myself to get my wolf out on the surface so that my strength would match his own but because I couldn’t concentrate, it was hard to come to terms with my wolf. I had to save myself. “Alpha Gaius!” I heard a man yelling suddenly. I couldn’t turn to look at whoever it was as my eyes were already closing to the dark oblivion that was reaching out to me. “Yo

Evelyn. “Welcome,” I greeted my mate the moment I sighted him from afar. I rushed to his side and attempted to kiss him. I noticed the subtle way he shifted sideways so I wouldn’t accomplish my mission. I looked at him but didn't say anything. I attempted to kiss him again but he repeated the action. I couldn’t help but think that he was doing whatever he did deliberately. “Are you okay?” I asked him. From all indications, it was clear that he was fine. I became more worried that I might have unknowingly done something wrong to him. “Did I do something wrong?” I asked, rushing to his side when I saw that he was no longer where I was standing. To that, he turned around. “When I walked in here, did I tell you that you did something wrong?” He snapped at me. The volume of his voice made me shiver and I found myself moving away from him involuntarily. As I took each step backward, tears began to drop from my face. I couldn’t fathom why it was that the man had snapped at me that

Gaius. “I said who the hell are you?!” I yelled again as I looked at the strange man who was driving us. My hands felt numb as I tried to take the steering wheel from the man. “What’s going on, Gaius?” Evelyn shouted from the back. I could hear the panic in her voice. As much as I didn’t want to hurt her or make her afraid, I knew I had to tell her the truth. If I didn’t, her worries were only going to increase. “The driver is not–“ I was cut off abruptly as the strange man in the driving seat matched the accelerator and swerved to the side at the same time. That dislodged me and I hit my head against the roof of the car. “Aaarrrggghhh!” I heard Evelyn yell. My heart skipped and I quickly turned my head to look at her and make sure she was not hurt. “Are you okay?” I asked, drawing back to look at her all over. Too stunned to speak, she simply nodded her head. I heard a sinister chuckle from the strange man and it was one that was mocking. “I’ve had enough!” I stormed at th

The last thing I knew before I found myself here was the moment when Alpha Gaius asked me to hide inside the car while he went after the people who were firing against us. The next thing I knew was that someone banged the door of the car open. Here i co to d scream or get the attention of the Alpha, I was knocked out. Now I was awake and I found two men dragging me in the floor like I was some sort of animal. I wanted to tell myself that I knew who was in charge of this kidnapping, but I managed to refrain myself. For once, they were not trying to drag me back into the man's pack. If there was one thing I had come to realize, it was the fact that Alpha Cyrus was a man w

Alpha Gaius. Shortly after seeing that Evelyn was missing, I transformed back to my human form. I searched through the compartment where there were always clothes kept just in case of an emergency like this. I found one and quickly grabbed one. I changed as fast as I could. Once I was done, I sniffed the car some more and also the air so that I would be able to get enough of Evelyn’s scent that was not tinted with those of the people who came to get her. I followed the scent and found myself passing through buildings and alleyways, places I was assuming they took so they wouldn’t be in the open for anyone to question them. Once or twice, I came across people in the alleyway and I got the urge to hold them down. and question them. But from the way they turned and were scared each time they met my gaze, I knew they were just normal humans who didn't want anything to do with trouble. I had to control myself countless times to make sure that I didn't jump on them and try to rip the

I was not going to let him fall into the traps these people had set up for him simply because of me. All through the night when I noticed that I was bring held hostage because they wanted to get him, my mind has bit being stabled. I knew that I would never forgive myself if anything happened to him. Even though I was expecting him to follow us and look for me, a small part of me still wished that he would not be around or try to look for me. After all, that was the only way to ensure that he was safe and out of harm's way. But he was here now despite all my wish and prayers to the moon goddess. Since he was here, I was going to see sure he went away in a piece and not two or many more. That meant that I had to do whatever it was that I could do to make that happen. Gaius. My head hung low and my shoulders slumped as I took the last corner before I got to the main road. As I walked, I couldn’t help but feel bad. Of all the things I had expected from all the ordeal of the previous days, it wasn’t that I would be leaving the love of my life at the camp of the enemies. But I had done that. I left her there. I knew she convinced me by herself that I should go as she was sure that she was safe there. However, now that I was back on the road, without her, I couldn’t help but wonder if she had only told me away because she was in so much danger that she wanted me to save myself first. I shook my head, refuting the thought. My foot stepped on a board that creaked and I sneered in anger. She couldn’t have been in any danger. If she was, she would have told me through the mindlink when we were using that to communicate. She didn’t say anything of such though and I didn’t see her fidget because she was tense or anything. Evelyn The cabin was silent except for the faint creak of wooden floorboards beneath my careful steps. My heart thundered in my chest as I eased the door closed behind me, the dim glow of the oil lamp casting eerie shadows across the room. I wasn’t supposed to be here. If they caught me, it wouldn’t just be an interrogation—it would be death. Yet, I couldn’t afford to fail. Not this time. The blueprint had to be here, tucked away in some drawer or hidden compartment. It was my only chance to figure out where all the traps were laid, the only way to ensure I could make it through their defenses and get what I came for. I started with the desk, my fingers brushing over the cold brass handles as I slid the drawers open, one by one. Empty. Empty. Stationery. A small knife. Nothing useful. I cursed under my breath and glanced over my shoulder, half-expecting to see someone standing in the doorway. But it was just me and the ghosts of my nerves. EvelynThe news of Cyrus’s latest attack had spread like wildfire, leaving fear and uncertainty in the minds of everyone.I stood near the large window in our study, staring out at the pack grounds. People were gathered in small groups, their hushed voices and wary glances betraying their fear. I could feel their doubts, their growing mistrust, and it stung more than I wanted to admit.Gaius sat at the desk behind me, his head resting in his hands. His normally strong, and commanding presence seemed dimmed, burden by the pack’s safety.“They’re scared,” I said quietly, not turning to face him. “I can feel it. Their fear is everywhere.”Gaius lifted his head, his green eyes meeting mine. “And they’re turning that fear into blame,” he said, his voice heavy. “They don’t think we can protect them anymore.”I sighed, crossing my arms over my chest. “We’ve faced worse before, Gaius. They know what Cyrus is capable of, but we’ve always fought back.”“This time feels different,” he mu

CyrusThe photograph of my father lay on the desk before me. It's edge was worn and the image slightly faded, but his eyes still seemed to pierce through me as they always had.“You doubted me, didn’t you?” I muttered, leaning back in my chair.“You thought I’d never amount to anything more than a disappointment.”I picked up the photo, running my gloved fingers along the frayed edges. His expression was as cold and unforgiving even in death as it had been in life. My lips twisted into a sharp smile.“But look at me now,” I said softly, my tone almost mocking. “I’ve surpassed even your wildest dreams. A world where the strong rule unchallenged, where no council, no laws, no Alphas can stand in the way—that’s what you always wanted. And I’ve made it a reality.”The smile faded as my wolfs growl rumbled low in my chest, the sound filling the silence of the room. “All that’s left are the two thorns in my side. Gaius and Evelyn.”Their names rolled off my tongue like a curse. They h

The way she moved, the way she stood—it was so familiar. And her face... It wasn’t completely clear, but...” He hesitated, the lines on his face deepening. “I think it was your mother.”I felt air leave my lungs in a rush, and I gripped the edge of

GaiusThe forest grew quieter the farther we ran, the shadows swallowing the sounds of pursuit until it felt like we were alone with the whispers of the trees. The boy clung tightly to me, his small hands gripping my shirt as though letting go would mean the end of his fragile safety. Raven loped beside me in her wolf form, her breathing ragged but steady, her injured shoulder leaving a faint trail of blood on the forest floor. The hideout was less than a mile away, an old hunting cabin reinforced to serve as a temporary safe house for situations exactly like this. The closer we got, the more I allowed myself to hope we might make it without further incident.Raven reached the clearing first, shifting back into her human form with a sharp grunt of pain as she clutched her injured shoulder. She didn’t look at me as she opened the cabin door, but I could feel her frustration radiating like heat.Inside, Adam and Lisa were waiting, their tense postures relaxing only slightly when the

GaiusCyrus stood tall on the stage, his voice booming with twisted conviction as he flaunted his power. The sight of the boy, trembling and locked in that cage, burned in my mind, and I knew there was no time to hesitate.Raven, beside me, moved with practiced stealth as we crept along the perimeter of the massive gathering. Her hood had concealed most of her face, but the tension radiating from her was unmistakable. “Gaius,” she murmured under her breath, her sharp eyes scanning the crowd, “this is madness. Even if we get the boy, we’ll have every rogue in this forest on our heels.”“I know the risks,” I replied, my voice low. “But leaving him here isn’t an option.”Her jaw tightened, and for a moment, she said nothing. Then she exhaled sharply. “Fine. But if we’re doing this, we’ll need to create a distraction. Something big enough to scatter them.”“Leave that to me,” I said, my mind racing with possibilities. We moved quietly through the group of rogues, careful not to draw

GaiusEvery step Raven and I took was deliberate. We moved in silence as we approached the secluded location of the Shadow’s grand gathering. The intel we got was just enough to confirm Cyrus’s presence and the purpose of the meeting. The rogues were gathering to swear loyalty to their new “Supreme Alpha” and witness the unveiling of his latest weapon.Raven walked ahead of me, her features covered by the hood of her cloak. “This isn’t just a meeting,” Raven whispered as we neared the clearing. “It’s a show of power. Cyrus wants to remind them why they follow him.”I nodded, adjusting the mask covering my face. “Then we’ll make sure we see everything,” I said, my voice low.The clearing came into view suddenly. The rogues had gathered in a makeshift amphitheater carved into the earth, a steep circle of jagged rocks surrounding a central stage. We slipped into the crowd unnoticed, our disguises blending with the rogues around us. The sounds of murmured conversations and the occ

EvelynThe house was quiet. It was the kind of calm that should have been soothing but instead made me uneasy.I sat at the dining table, stirring my tea until the liquid had cooled to the point I felt it was undrinkable no more.My mind churned with the thoughts of Gaius’s mission preparations, Raven’s lead, and the decisions we had to make. Just knowing that Cyrus was still out there, regrouping, left a constant ache in my chest. My wolf stirred uneasily.A knock came at the front door, the sound startled me enough as the spoon from my hand jolted. Grace appeared moments later, holding a pale envelope. She had an unreadable expression written on her face.“This just arrived for you, My Lady,” she said, handing it to me.I frowned, taking the envelope cautiously. There was no name or address on it, just the words Luna Evelyn written in elegant, handwriting. The paper felt rough beneath my fingers. It smelt like herbs.“Who delivered this?” I asked.Grace shook her head. “A cou

The fractured bond between Evelyn and me lingered in my chest like a physical ache, but there was no time to dwell on it. Not when Cyrus remained a threat, regrouping in the shadows like the viper he was.A soft knock on the door broke my reverie.“Come in,” I called, my voice heavier than I intended. The door opened to reveal Raven, her expression unreadable as she stepped inside. She no longer carried the air of detached confidence that once defined her. Living among the pack, isolated and distrusted, had stripped away some of her bravado.“What is it?” I asked, my tone guarded.“I have a lead,” she said, her voice steady despite the tension in the room.I raised an eyebrow, leaning back in my chair. “A lead on Cyrus?”She nodded. “He’s moving to regroup with the Shadow’s leadership. There’s an old abandoned stronghold in the eastern mountains. It’s isolated, for

His smirk widened as he turned his attention to me, his predatory eyes gleaming with amusement.“And you, dear Evelyn,” he drawled, his tone dripping with condescension, “how the mighty have fallen. Tell me, does it ever get tiring, hiding behind stronger men?”My chest tightened, his words hitting a tender spot I hated to acknowledge. My wolf growled beneath my skin, restless and furious, but I held her back. This was not the time to lose control.“I hate you,” I spat, my voice trembling with fury.Cyrus’s smirk deepened. “Oh, I’m counting on that.”His taunts cut deep, stoking a fire that had been burning since the moment he destroyed everything I held dear. He turned to Roman, his shadow, who stood still and silent, his gaze locked on me. Something flickered in Roman’s expression—something cold and unreadable—but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.“You’re a coward,
