The new Ella Woods looked around at the busy high end restaurant. It was elegantly decorated. The gold and white art matched the antique brown drapes, perfectly. Even the gold cutlery and crockery looked expensive. She wondered if it were real gold, fighting the urge to bite the tip of a spoon.
"Your father purchased and revamped the entire restaurant this morning after he heard you will be staying with him permanently. He thought it would fit in with your new identity " Mr Hunt smiled."Thank you." She picked up her documents and left.Although she didn't want to he rude, she needed some time to adjust. She needed to process the break up and her past life, transitioning into her new life.Ella did not want expect to have so many mixed emotions. She stayed silent all the way home, lost in her own thoughts and fantasies.Kicking her heels off, Ella lay on the couch flipping through television channels until something caught her eye." Hey dad. Did you see this?" Ella shouted."See what Summer. I mean Ella. I really need to get used to calling you Ella!" Patrick said as he sat down on the couch next to her.Displayed on the television was a picture of her former self with a rather sad heading." Teen gone missing, possibly dead."" An eighteen year old teenage girl has been reported missing yesterday afternoon. Her grief stricken mother had last seen the teen yesterday afternoon. She was said to have left her homecoming dance around eight o clock last night, alone. A bloodied handkerchief was found metres away at an abandoned playground. Forensics are still testing the blood and all emergency personal are doing their rounds looking for the teen. For now we are not ruling out foul play." The news reporter almost rapped out those words." The police called this morning. They were looking for you. But I said I haven't seen you since last winter. And I did get you a little something." Patrick grinned."Ella Woods restaurant?" Ella laughed.Patrick handed her an envelope." A brand new phone." Ella smiled, she took out the small, cheap phone she had used all day and handed it back to her father." Since I dropped yours in the bottom of the lake, for safe keeping."Ella grabbed the remote," wait. It's getting juicier." She increased the volume on the television."The suspects in question are Bobby Styles, the victims boyfriend, and her friend Brook Wilds."" Good lord. Dad. How is that lying b**** my friend. She was never my friend!" Ella held a pillow over her face in frustration, masking her scream."Honey. You know how the media can be. They can twist things. Don't let it get to you. You are miles and miles away from them. Just move forward." Patrick comforted his daughter." Exactly. They won't get to me. I will use them to my advantage." Ella smirked, the mischievous glimmer in her eye could not go unnoticed." The perfect revenge.""Darling. You know I could just make him disappear. Without a trace.", Patrick patted her back." That isn't a punishment. You would be doing him a favour. He should suffer the consequences." Ella replied. She was adamant on making him pay. Although revenge wasn't in her nature, she felt it slowly creeping into her heart and her mind." Alright, as you wish." Patrick smiled weakly. He knew he could not talk his daughter out of this. She needed closure so that she could become the best version of herself. " What exactly do you have in mind?"" Honestly dad. I don't know but I want to go back. I want to find out all there is to know about Bobby. I don't understand why he would cheat on me. I don't know why he did what he had done. But maybe if I understand, I would know what to do." A tear dripped down her cheek." So you want to go back? I could just hire a private investigator to do all the work." Patrick suggested."No, dad. I need to do this." Ella insisted." Alright. Just don't blow your cover. Your identity is still new and we don't need anyone investigating you." Patrick warned." I will be careful." Ella nodded and walked to the kitchen ." I am starving.""I have made lobster tails in garlic sauce." Patrick said proudly." You really know how to cook exotic food." Ella said as she looked in the oven. The smell wafted out into the warm air and the kitchen smelt like heaven on earth." I had all this free time and I decided to learn how to cook. I attended classes every saterday for a whole year until I mastered the art of cooking. The lesson here ,darling ,is to never give up." Patrick picked up the oven gloves and took out the casserole."Dad, really? You are going to give me life lessons?" Ella rolled her eyes." Alright. I am sure you get that enough from mom." Patrick chuckled."You still love her ? Don't you?" Ella asked."Yeah. Pretty much. That woman is embedded in me." Patrick smiled but his smile was far from his eyes."What happened? I mean, you know. Where did it all go wrong?" Ella asked curiously." I don't know honey. I guess I got so caught up in chasing money, now that I have it I don't have a family. I didn't realize what I lost until I looked back." Patrick reminisced about his past." It isn't too late to fix it now." Ella nudged him as the sat next to each other peeling lobster tails." It is too late. It's been ten years." Patrick chewed the succulent meat."Well ,you both just lost your daughter. You can grieve together." Ella laughed."Dad. I am going back. Once all this is over and the verdict is announced. Come to Salt Rock. Make it right with mom." The determination in Ella's eyes could not be extinguished.Ella packed her bags, taking her father's private jet once more, she landed in Salt Rock. The air hostess looked at her in confusion and the driver that had fetched her two days ago, when she looked like a mess was baffled."Miss Woods, right?" The driver asked. The expression on his face was priceless.Ella tipped her sunglasses and looked at him, " yes."" Are you sure you are not Mr Ray's daughter? The one I picked up a few days ago."He stared at her in the rearview mirror."Well. Yes I am. I am his adopted daughter, Ella Woods." Ella replied." The resemblance is remarkable." He scratched his chin."Let's just say, my father has good taste." Ella laughed. She enjoyed watching the driver scratch his head. She just wondered how much havoc she is going to create in Salt Rock.Turning into Time Boulevard, Ella could not help but stare at all the luxury boutiques. This place was fairly new but also upmarket for her. She had only seen pictures is the magazine's but it was definitely mo
Ella jumped onto the king sized bed in the centre of the room. She was on the last floor of the building, the penthouse suite. After all she was the owner and this could easily be home for her if she wanted it to be.Just like her restaurant back in Palm beach, the room was elegantly decorated in white and gold. She felt like a princess. She wished she had taken the offer from her father sooner, but her love for Bobby kept her rooted in Salt Rock. Now she regretted even knowing him and wished she could turn back the hands of time. Her blood boiled whenever his name came to mind. He was a topic that made her heart blacken. Her eyes grew dark as she remembered the betrayal." May I help you?" A slender old woman asked in a frail voice, dressed in a black formal skirt suit. Ella looked up at the grandmotherly looking woman, she did not even know she was in the room. Ella wondered why was somebody that was at the retirement age still working here. She should be home baking apple pies.
Ella heard the police sirens in the distance, it was getting closer by the second and she knew within five minutes or less, they would be at her door.A few minutes later , Brook smirked. " Do you hear that? Soon you will be in handcuffs and this whole nightmare you have created will be over. You will be the one behind bars."Ella sat smiling as she gulped down the last drops of her wine.A gentle knock on the door made Brook jump up from the couch. She opened the door fiercely." Here she is officer. The liar. She isn't missing. She is here. Summer Ray.""Calm down, Miss Wilds." The officer held up his hand. " Are you sure this is Miss Ray?""Look at her. This is her." Brook insisted." Miss Ray?" The officer looked at Ella."Miss Wood's. Ella Woods." Ella introduced herself."She is lying." Brook shrieked." Can I see some identification?" The officer asked politely."Sure. Ella picked up her hand bag and rummaged through its contents, finally pulling out her wallet. She handed over
The officer dragged Ella into the police station," looks like I just solved the missing person's case, boys!"Cheers erupted all around her but the captain didn't look too pleased." Officer Duke, do you know who this is?""Yeah, boss. It's Summer Ray. The girl that went missing a week ago. You should be happy. Your daughter is of the hook for kidnapping and possible murder."" You idiot. Do you not read the paper. It is Miss Ella Woods. The investor of the new upmarket hotel and mall on the southside of town." The captain barked. "Sir. That's what I initially thought but your daughter insisted I bring her in." Officer Duke replied." You are listening to my eighteen year old daughter who barely has the knowledge of frying an egg." Captain Wilds lifted an eyebrow.Officer Duke shoved Ella into a cell and slammed it shut. He pulled Mr Wilds aside and began a conversation of persuasion.Ella's Luna senses heightened as she concentrated on hearing."Just think about it. She will be frame
Ella sat down on the bench and stared at the two officers. She couldn't believe that they were treating her as a criminal.A woman barged through the doors and immediately Ella recognised her mother. "Where is she?" Mrs Ray said frantically."Sorry miss. But who are you looking for?" Officer Simon's asked leading her to a chair."My daughter. Summer Ray." She replied. Her eyes met Ella's and she immediately rushed to the jail cell."My poor baby."Ella held a confused expression. Her heart hurt and she knew this would hurt her mother but she did it anyway." Mrs Ray?" Ella asked."Mrs Ray? What's wrong with you Summer? Do you have amnesia?" " I have heard so much about you from my dad. You look the same as you did ten years ago. I saw a picture." Ella replied innocently.Mrs Ray took a closer look at Ella. " Who are you?"" I am Ella Woods. Mr Ray's adopted daughter." Ella replied. She knew the words cut through her mother's heart but this was her identity now. " Patrick's daughter
"Are you an imposter?" Officer Simon's shouted loudly. His voice rang in Ella's ears. Her eyes grew dark and nostrils flared for a few seconds before she replied calmly," no,sir."He wasn't worth getting angry over." Are we done here?" Ella asked politely." Wow. You are really in a hurry to get back to your beautiful jail cell. The smell of roses on a dewy evening and the pink coloured wallpaper, with pink flamingos seems really attractive." Officer Simon's grinned.Ella rolled her eyes at his sarcasm. He was really starting to annoy her."Are you two ready for the results." Mr Luke interrupted."Of course. Finally I can prove that she is an imposter and get my promotion." Officer Simon's brushed his auburn hair from his forehead. If he wasn't such a douche bag Ella would have found him attractive. He was well built with grey eyes and Sparling white teeth. He could easily get a job as a model or actor, but here he was, causing unnecessary trouble for her.At first Ella thought it w
"Do I know Summer Ray?" Ella questioned."Girl. Can you not be so frustrating. You are repeating everything I say like a parrot. If you want to ask the question, ask it in your brain and then supply me with the answer." Officer Simon's pulled his hair. " Stop beating around the bush. Answer the questions."" Is she the girl that you think I am? Only because I look like her?" Ella asked dumbly."Answer the question!" Officer Simon's screamed out so loud that the female officer opened the door and peeped in." Is everything alright in here?" She asked politely."Just get out. Everything is fine." Officer Simon's replied rudely. The officer closed the door quickly. Ella could here her footsteps scurrying away." Someone's got a temper." Ella joked. She was enjoying watching him crack." Miss Woods or Miss Ray. Which ever one you believe to be , answer the questions!" Officer Simon's cursed under his breath." I only heard about her on the news. I didn't know her personally. Do you think
" I'm here to represent Mrs Woods!"The words were precise and silence fell upon the room. Officer Simon's stood frozen. He did not expect an attorney to be present in the police station for this lying imposter. He had made sure that she had no access to her cellphone and she wasn't allowed to make her one call.Officer Simon's gained his composure," Go straight through to the boardroom Mrs ? Sorry I didn't get your name." "Mrs Smith." She replied sharply." Alright, Mrs Smith, I will just be putting the prisoner back in her cell. I will be with you in a minute." He stuck the key in the keyhole."I don't think so, officer Simon's. Ella Woods is my client and I would prefer her in the board room with me. She is not a prisoner." Mrs Smith eyes squinted as she stared holes into him."She is guilty." Officer Simon's turned the key." Innocent until proven guilty. I would like to see your proof." Mrs Smith shut the gate firmly. The swift movement made officer Simon's jump.He had taken he
"Trust you?" Ella choked out. She was a mix between furious and panicked. She was worried about Tyler , scared of Brook and now the person that betrayed her is asking her to trust him."Yes. Ella. I am sorry. I know I can't change the past but I can protect you now." Bobby inched his way closer to her." My sister wouldn't have needed protecting if you just stayed faithful to her. "Ella stepped back. From the corner of her eyes, she watched Brook start to sit up on the ground. " Her heart pounded in her chest and her hands shook. She started to bang the gym door frantically, screaming for Tyler." No one is coming for you Ella. Trust me. I will keep you safe from Brook. " Bobby grabbed her arm tightly.Ella screamed loudly as he began to pull her towards the forest behind the university.A loud bang, the gym doors swung open and a large silver grey beast jumped out. He sprinted across the park and toppled Bobby onto the grass. Those green eyes were unmistakable.Bobby let out a large
Three o clock came and Ella walked to the library. She felt like a disgrace for not being a team player and letting Tyler do all the work. She decided that although she didn't like him, she would just have to stick it out. Maybe she is wrong about him but only time will tell."Ella. You are being weird. I don't know why you don't like Tyler but eventually it will affect your grades." Mary stood behind Ella who was standing outside the library doors and looking in."Mary. It isn't what it seems." Ella said as she struggled to move her feet into the library. It was if her legs were jelly. Her mind was unwilling to go in no matter how much she persuaded herself."Oh no. Not this again. My Luna had been suppressed for so long and now I had to have a trigger." Ella thought to herself."Ella. We don't have all afternoon. If your aren't going to go in atleast step aside. Justin and I have an assignment to do." Mary snapped.Ella drew in a deep breath, calming her nerves. Her legs had now re
"A literary passage is an excerpt from a written text. It can be as long as a chapter, or as short as a sentence. Usually, the length of a literary passage is several paragraphs long. This excerpt can be any genre of literature, from poetry to fiction." Tyler answered the question.Ella thought that he sounded like a web browser."Thank you, Mr Style's. That is the correct answer." Mrs Moore clapped again." I guess we have two A grade students sitting next to each other. I am sure you two will get on like a house on fire."Ella rolled her eyes at that statement. There was no way she was going to be friends or even an acquaintance with him.Tyler smiled and looked at Ella who just stared at him coldly. There was tension in the air between them."Let us now dig deeper into the passage. What is this passage about? Who wrote it? Why do you think he wrote it? Does it have a deeper meaning?" Mrs Moore asked. The only two people who actually answered the questions were Tyler and Ella. "You
Ella's blood froze in her body when she heard the words that flowed out of Annie's mouth.Annie was apologetic but Ella was now growing angrier by the second. Annie had gone back on her word. She was supposed to make sure that Bobby, Brook and Jason spent their entire five year sentence in prison and rehab.Bobby and Brook were let off on good behaviour while Jason was on parole.Ella's fists clenched as she disconnected the call. She wondered if that was Bobby or just the boy she had met.Monday morning Ella reached her class and took her seat. Everyone was silent and Mrs Moore called someone in from outside of the class."Meet Mr Style's Tyler Styles. He had just transferred in from another college to complete his final year of journalism with us."Everyone greeted in unison and he nodded back at them.Ella knew that this was the boy from Salt Rock and it irritated her."Please have a seat next to Ella." Mrs Moore pointed to Ella. His surname made her stare at him coldly. She wonder
"Ella. Will you be my girlfriend." Scott whispered lovingly in her ear."This can't be." Ella mumbled to herself.Scott stepped away when he heard those words. He didn't stand a chance to be her boyfriend and she made it quite clear. He didn't want to offend her again by being in her presence after asking her such a question. Her answer was quite clear and Scott walked away.James followed Scott while Mary excused herself to go to the ladies.Ella stood frozen in place. It was dark where she had seen that familiar figure. She rubbed her eyes thinking that she was mistaken but those features were unmistakable. She looked at her phone and up again but the familiar face she had seen was now gone. Her throat was dry and her palms were sweaty. She weaved her way through the crowd to get a closer look at where she had seen that person she thought she knew so long ago.As people danced, Ella tried to maneuver her way through the basketball pitch without getting bumped. She had finally made i
*Three years later*Ella had forgotten about her revenge, she reminisced about the homecoming dance at Palm beach high as she touched the large trophy on the shelf in her dorm room. Although the university was a half an hour drive from her home, she opted to stay at the university. She thought that she would get more work done here than she did at home. She only had this to complete before she would do her practicals at the Palm newspaper firm. She now wondered if she ever did want to be a lawyer or was she just living in some fantasy. She felt as if she had sacrificed too much of herself.Although many boys at the university tried to date her, Ella wasn't much of the dating type. Most of them just wanted a quick fling or a long-term relationship that would probably end up in marriage. It was three years and Annie and Ella had drifted apart. Annie took up the full time job of being the management at the hotel and both their lives had become equally busy.Annie had even stopped tortu
Ella faked a smile. That afternoon she went home with a glum look on her face."Why the long face, Ella bear?" Patrick asked. He was concerned by her almost lethargic behaviour."The day I hate the most us tomorrow." Ella said as she dragged her bag behind her."I am guessing that it is the homecoming dance. We host it every year Ella. I think it will be good for you to go. You get a second chance . This time you might just enjoy it." Patrick tried to brighten her spirits and change her mind. "It's like rubbing salt to my wounds." Ella grunted." I know that it was a horrible experience, but it led you to me. Trust me. This won't be like the last dance. There is no Bobby or Brook. And besides you don't even have a boyfriend. Who is going to betray you? James Wallas? Or Scott Moore? But the most interesting question is, which one of those dodos is taking you to homecoming dance?" Patrick teased. His tone was light and full of giggles."Oh my gosh , dad. You never fail to surprise me w
The year was almost over , it was the last week of school and Ella had made a lot of friends since her book was published. She had written short stories afterwards for many other anthology books in different countries. Her had become so busy that she had forgotten about her past until they had announced a homecoming dance on the last day of school.Memories flooded Ella's brain and she stormed off into the rest room. The overwhelming feeling made her nauseas and she opened the tap, splashing handfuls of water, wetting her hair and her blouse. She patted her face fry with a paper towel and exited the restroom feeling slightly better."Are you alright?" Scott and James asked Ella as she took her seat next to them in the cafeteria.Ella smiled weakly. " I'm alright. I'm just not a fan of the homecoming dance."They both looked at eachother and then at Ella, they decided not to ask." Well, if you aren't going, then we aren't going." James sipped his milkshake."Don't be foolish. You can'
"Chapter Five.A surprise visit."Annie was laid to rest. Everyone returned home. Peter returned to his study to drown his sorrows with a bottle of whiskey. Martha took Adrianna to her room. It was 6pm and the house was silent. Suddenly a loud knock on the door startled Mr Russell. He peeped through the looking glass on the door and sees old Mr and Mrs Walters. He quickly opens the door and welcomes them in, escorting them to the large sitting room. They sat on the large grey and red L shaped couch. It was italian style, soft and very comfortable. They looked around while they waited. The room was designed beautifully. Annie had designed it herself, red and grey curtains. Her paintings hung on the wall. Throughout the house were Annie's paintings. All were unique like her, beautiful and elegant. They massive 85 inch flat screen was mounted above their electric fire place. And a small glass coffee table was in front of them, letters lay unopen on it. Old Mrs Walters instructed Russell
