Ella sat down on the bench and stared at the two officers. She couldn't believe that they were treating her as a criminal.
A woman barged through the doors and immediately Ella recognised her mother."Where is she?" Mrs Ray said frantically."Sorry miss. But who are you looking for?" Officer Simon's asked leading her to a chair."My daughter. Summer Ray." She replied. Her eyes met Ella's and she immediately rushed to the jail cell."My poor baby."Ella held a confused expression. Her heart hurt and she knew this would hurt her mother but she did it anyway." Mrs Ray?" Ella asked."Mrs Ray? What's wrong with you Summer? Do you have amnesia?"" I have heard so much about you from my dad. You look the same as you did ten years ago. I saw a picture." Ella replied innocently.Mrs Ray took a closer look at Ella. " Who are you?"" I am Ella Woods. Mr Ray's adopted daughter." Ella replied. She knew the words cut through her mother's heart but this was her identity now." Patrick's daughter? He never mentioned anything about you." Mrs Ray blinked away her tears. " It's remarkable. You look so similar to Summer, yet so different."" Please can you call my dad. These people here had me in here since last night." Ella asked politely."Mrs Ray. This isn't your daughter?" Officer Simon's asked curiously." Well. She is but she isn't. I mean she says she is my ex husband's daughter so technically she could be mine but she isn't Summer. They look alike but is also different." Mrs Ray replied."So you aren't sure?" Officer Simon's lifted an eyebrow. " That's all we need to know. Thank you for your time."Officer Simon's walked her to the door. After a brief chat he came back to the cell. " Looks like you will be in here a few days until we figure out if your lying or telling the truth." I am not lying." Ella shouted. She dreaded spending another day with these foul smelling people.A few hours later a man with a large suitcase entered the police station."Mr Luke. Here for the polygraph test that was ordered."Ella knew he was here for her. He looked directly into her eyes and winked. She did not know what to think but it looked like he was friend. She couldn't help but stare. His face looked familiar as if she had seen him before. She dug deep into her mind trying to remember until it dawned on her. It was the driver that had taken her to the airport." Good lord. This man must really think I am a filthy person. First she saw me in my dirty prom dress and now in a jail cell." Ella thought slapping her palm onto her forehead."Miss Woods or should I say Miss Ray. Please join us in the interrogation room." Officer Simon's opened the gate for her and placed her in a set of hand cuffs. " Can't be too sure."Ella took a seat opposite the polygrapher ."Miss Woods. I will ask you a series of questions before I hand you over to officer Simon's. This is just to differentiate between what is true or a lie. Once I calibrate the machine the real questions will begin." Mr Luke winked again.Ella nodded. He walked around the table and attached electrodes to her temples and devices to her hands," this is to monitor your responses.""Let's begin."Ella nodded."Please state your full name." Mr Luke asked"Ella Woods." Ella replied. Her hands felt sweaty and her throat was dry. Although she knew the polygraph test was rigged in her favour, she still felt a tinge of guilt when her mother left."Where do you live?" My Luke asked."Palm beach." Ella replied. She could not help but wonder how the driver was now a polygrapher." How old are you?" Mr Luke asked ."Eighteen." Ella replied. She knew this was probably the work of her father and soon enough she would be out of this hell hole." Is your father Mr Patrick Ray?" Mr Luke asked."Yes." Ella fought the urge to reply with the phrase "Duh."Mr Luke closed the file on the desk." All set officer Simon's. You can go ahead.""So Miss Woods. Is this your real name?" Officer Simon's asked sarcastically."Yes." Ella replied. She had watched enough movies to know that all she was going to answer was yes or no. She was not going to justify her answers or give too much. The man in front of her was an idiot and he deserved to be treated like one. She would see to his demotion later on but right now she needed to just focus on getting out of this hell house and back on track with her plan." Is Mrs Ray your mother." Officer Simon's asked. He had hit a nerve and Ella drew in a breath," no."" Do you know Bobby Styles?" Officer Luke asked."No." Once upon a time Summer did know a Bobby Styles. He was the love of her life but now she was Ella Woods."Do you know Brook Wilds?" Officer Simon's asked. He knew he could catch her out on this one since he read the report from yesterday's events ."Yes. She is the b**** that got me here." Ella could not help but burst his bubble. She could see right through him. His intentions were clear and she wondered why all these officer's were being such idiots." Do you know Summer Ray?" Officer Simon's looked disappointed."No." Ella replied confidently. How can the new Ella Woods know her former self. She had killed all good memories from her past. It was just the betrayal that stabbed at her heart now." Are you and imposter?""Are you an imposter?" Officer Simon's shouted loudly. His voice rang in Ella's ears. Her eyes grew dark and nostrils flared for a few seconds before she replied calmly," no,sir."He wasn't worth getting angry over." Are we done here?" Ella asked politely." Wow. You are really in a hurry to get back to your beautiful jail cell. The smell of roses on a dewy evening and the pink coloured wallpaper, with pink flamingos seems really attractive." Officer Simon's grinned.Ella rolled her eyes at his sarcasm. He was really starting to annoy her."Are you two ready for the results." Mr Luke interrupted."Of course. Finally I can prove that she is an imposter and get my promotion." Officer Simon's brushed his auburn hair from his forehead. If he wasn't such a douche bag Ella would have found him attractive. He was well built with grey eyes and Sparling white teeth. He could easily get a job as a model or actor, but here he was, causing unnecessary trouble for her.At first Ella thought it w
"Do I know Summer Ray?" Ella questioned."Girl. Can you not be so frustrating. You are repeating everything I say like a parrot. If you want to ask the question, ask it in your brain and then supply me with the answer." Officer Simon's pulled his hair. " Stop beating around the bush. Answer the questions."" Is she the girl that you think I am? Only because I look like her?" Ella asked dumbly."Answer the question!" Officer Simon's screamed out so loud that the female officer opened the door and peeped in." Is everything alright in here?" She asked politely."Just get out. Everything is fine." Officer Simon's replied rudely. The officer closed the door quickly. Ella could here her footsteps scurrying away." Someone's got a temper." Ella joked. She was enjoying watching him crack." Miss Woods or Miss Ray. Which ever one you believe to be , answer the questions!" Officer Simon's cursed under his breath." I only heard about her on the news. I didn't know her personally. Do you think
" I'm here to represent Mrs Woods!"The words were precise and silence fell upon the room. Officer Simon's stood frozen. He did not expect an attorney to be present in the police station for this lying imposter. He had made sure that she had no access to her cellphone and she wasn't allowed to make her one call.Officer Simon's gained his composure," Go straight through to the boardroom Mrs ? Sorry I didn't get your name." "Mrs Smith." She replied sharply." Alright, Mrs Smith, I will just be putting the prisoner back in her cell. I will be with you in a minute." He stuck the key in the keyhole."I don't think so, officer Simon's. Ella Woods is my client and I would prefer her in the board room with me. She is not a prisoner." Mrs Smith eyes squinted as she stared holes into him."She is guilty." Officer Simon's turned the key." Innocent until proven guilty. I would like to see your proof." Mrs Smith shut the gate firmly. The swift movement made officer Simon's jump.He had taken he
I snuck into the house, like a thief, making sure not to awaken my mother. She did not know that I had snuck out just hours ago. I looked at the silver clock above the arch , it was already 5am.Jumping straight into the shower I scrubbed myself until the skin broke and droplets of blood oozed out. The pain from the bruising could not compare to the pain o felt inside.I dressed in my pajamas and headed straight for bed. Drawing the blinds shut, I drifted into a dreamless sleep.3months later.I spent three months of my life crying. Who would want a pregnant ,tainted woman like myself. I was spiralling down into a deep dark place. If it was not for the baby I carried in my womb, I would have ended my life.It broke my mother's heart when I finally found the courage within me to tell her the truth.I never went back to the mansion after that day. My mother, being a single parent was like a superhero but I felt the depth of her wound. She blamed herself for my misfortune." I have made
I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but aunt Tess's words were still swimming in my head. This is a game changer for Seth. I am a Luna. He thought he could break my heart and get away with it but he can't . I won't let him. He will regret the day he had left me. Vengeance crept into my heart. I did not know how I was going to make him pay, but I was going to." Breakfast is ready," I heard aunt Tess's jovial voice from the dining hall.I was barely even dressed, I hurried as fast as I could almost tripping over my own feet."You should be careful. I don't want you getting hurt now.""Sorry aunt Tess." I said as I sat at the table .Taking a slice of toast I coated it with strawberry jam. Today was the first day that I actually felt hungry. I was starving. After three months of morning sickness I was now feeling like myself. We arrived at the coffee shop and it wasn't as little as aunt Tess has said, it was the total opposite. She gave me the grand tour and showed me how to work the ma
"Wow, look at your face." Tyler clapped and laughed loudly." Can't I make a joke. Is it only you who can be humourous?"I didn't know why I was surprised. I shouldn't have cared if he was angry , but somehow I did." So, you aren't upset that I am pregnant?""Of course not Ella. I had known the very first day I met you."I wondered how, I knew only a male wolf would smell my pregnant scent but he was a man." But how?""Your aunt Tess." Tyler smiled.Silly me, how could I possibly think this kind man was a wolf. He was too plain and simple. He smelled of fresh lavender and sunshine. Every possible way a human male smelt and behaved." To be honest, Ella, I really like you. You make the most putrid tasting coffee but I will still drink it."I burst into laughter," my coffee is horrible but you still want to drink it? Why would you possibly want to torture yourself."" Yes. As long as I get to see your pretty face. Anything made by your hand is special."" Tyler, I hate to be a buzz ki
Tyler walked in to the coffee shop ordering his usual. One putrid coffee made by me. This time I tried to add more cream and less coffee.I poured a little in a cup and kept it aside. He took a small sip, tasting it slowly." Wow this is delicious." The cream lined the top of his lips and I took a napkin and dabbed it off.He smiled at me and I went back to the counter taking the cup I set aside. Since he said it was delicious I decided to take a big sip, emptying the contents of the cup into my mouth. As soon as it touched my tongue, I cringed. My nose wrinkled up and I wanted to puke. It was awful. It has no taste of coffee at all, just a coffee smell with milky taste.I spat it back in the cup and rinsed my mouth. It doesn't take rocket science to make coffee but why was I so bad at it." You really think my coffee was divine?" I questioned Tyler."My taste buds think that anything prepared by your lovely hands is divine." Tyler teased." Why do you even bother to torture yourself?
The alarm went off at seven and I rolled out of bed. I had started getting used to moving much slower than usual as my belly started to grow. Saterday had literally jumped up on me,the three days went by so quick, I didn't have time to prepare myself mentally. Every day for the last three days, Tyler reminded me of this day. It has become like a chant. In the past three days my coffee just got more pathetic and he still drank it .I had a warm shower and dressed into some comfortable clothes as he had told me. He asked me not to have breakfast so I sat and stared at myself in the mirror for a while, trying to figure out what to do with my long, brown hair. I still had twenty minutes before he would arrive and I spent all twenty minutes, braiding, twisting, tying and plaiting my hair. I eventually settled on a high ponytail once I heard him hooter outside. My heart was beating so fast ,I thought it would pop out of my chest. It felt nice to just be a normal girl, amongst humans in th
"Trust you?" Ella choked out. She was a mix between furious and panicked. She was worried about Tyler , scared of Brook and now the person that betrayed her is asking her to trust him."Yes. Ella. I am sorry. I know I can't change the past but I can protect you now." Bobby inched his way closer to her." My sister wouldn't have needed protecting if you just stayed faithful to her. "Ella stepped back. From the corner of her eyes, she watched Brook start to sit up on the ground. " Her heart pounded in her chest and her hands shook. She started to bang the gym door frantically, screaming for Tyler." No one is coming for you Ella. Trust me. I will keep you safe from Brook. " Bobby grabbed her arm tightly.Ella screamed loudly as he began to pull her towards the forest behind the university.A loud bang, the gym doors swung open and a large silver grey beast jumped out. He sprinted across the park and toppled Bobby onto the grass. Those green eyes were unmistakable.Bobby let out a large
Three o clock came and Ella walked to the library. She felt like a disgrace for not being a team player and letting Tyler do all the work. She decided that although she didn't like him, she would just have to stick it out. Maybe she is wrong about him but only time will tell."Ella. You are being weird. I don't know why you don't like Tyler but eventually it will affect your grades." Mary stood behind Ella who was standing outside the library doors and looking in."Mary. It isn't what it seems." Ella said as she struggled to move her feet into the library. It was if her legs were jelly. Her mind was unwilling to go in no matter how much she persuaded herself."Oh no. Not this again. My Luna had been suppressed for so long and now I had to have a trigger." Ella thought to herself."Ella. We don't have all afternoon. If your aren't going to go in atleast step aside. Justin and I have an assignment to do." Mary snapped.Ella drew in a deep breath, calming her nerves. Her legs had now re
"A literary passage is an excerpt from a written text. It can be as long as a chapter, or as short as a sentence. Usually, the length of a literary passage is several paragraphs long. This excerpt can be any genre of literature, from poetry to fiction." Tyler answered the question.Ella thought that he sounded like a web browser."Thank you, Mr Style's. That is the correct answer." Mrs Moore clapped again." I guess we have two A grade students sitting next to each other. I am sure you two will get on like a house on fire."Ella rolled her eyes at that statement. There was no way she was going to be friends or even an acquaintance with him.Tyler smiled and looked at Ella who just stared at him coldly. There was tension in the air between them."Let us now dig deeper into the passage. What is this passage about? Who wrote it? Why do you think he wrote it? Does it have a deeper meaning?" Mrs Moore asked. The only two people who actually answered the questions were Tyler and Ella. "You
Ella's blood froze in her body when she heard the words that flowed out of Annie's mouth.Annie was apologetic but Ella was now growing angrier by the second. Annie had gone back on her word. She was supposed to make sure that Bobby, Brook and Jason spent their entire five year sentence in prison and rehab.Bobby and Brook were let off on good behaviour while Jason was on parole.Ella's fists clenched as she disconnected the call. She wondered if that was Bobby or just the boy she had met.Monday morning Ella reached her class and took her seat. Everyone was silent and Mrs Moore called someone in from outside of the class."Meet Mr Style's Tyler Styles. He had just transferred in from another college to complete his final year of journalism with us."Everyone greeted in unison and he nodded back at them.Ella knew that this was the boy from Salt Rock and it irritated her."Please have a seat next to Ella." Mrs Moore pointed to Ella. His surname made her stare at him coldly. She wonder
"Ella. Will you be my girlfriend." Scott whispered lovingly in her ear."This can't be." Ella mumbled to herself.Scott stepped away when he heard those words. He didn't stand a chance to be her boyfriend and she made it quite clear. He didn't want to offend her again by being in her presence after asking her such a question. Her answer was quite clear and Scott walked away.James followed Scott while Mary excused herself to go to the ladies.Ella stood frozen in place. It was dark where she had seen that familiar figure. She rubbed her eyes thinking that she was mistaken but those features were unmistakable. She looked at her phone and up again but the familiar face she had seen was now gone. Her throat was dry and her palms were sweaty. She weaved her way through the crowd to get a closer look at where she had seen that person she thought she knew so long ago.As people danced, Ella tried to maneuver her way through the basketball pitch without getting bumped. She had finally made i
*Three years later*Ella had forgotten about her revenge, she reminisced about the homecoming dance at Palm beach high as she touched the large trophy on the shelf in her dorm room. Although the university was a half an hour drive from her home, she opted to stay at the university. She thought that she would get more work done here than she did at home. She only had this to complete before she would do her practicals at the Palm newspaper firm. She now wondered if she ever did want to be a lawyer or was she just living in some fantasy. She felt as if she had sacrificed too much of herself.Although many boys at the university tried to date her, Ella wasn't much of the dating type. Most of them just wanted a quick fling or a long-term relationship that would probably end up in marriage. It was three years and Annie and Ella had drifted apart. Annie took up the full time job of being the management at the hotel and both their lives had become equally busy.Annie had even stopped tortu
Ella faked a smile. That afternoon she went home with a glum look on her face."Why the long face, Ella bear?" Patrick asked. He was concerned by her almost lethargic behaviour."The day I hate the most us tomorrow." Ella said as she dragged her bag behind her."I am guessing that it is the homecoming dance. We host it every year Ella. I think it will be good for you to go. You get a second chance . This time you might just enjoy it." Patrick tried to brighten her spirits and change her mind. "It's like rubbing salt to my wounds." Ella grunted." I know that it was a horrible experience, but it led you to me. Trust me. This won't be like the last dance. There is no Bobby or Brook. And besides you don't even have a boyfriend. Who is going to betray you? James Wallas? Or Scott Moore? But the most interesting question is, which one of those dodos is taking you to homecoming dance?" Patrick teased. His tone was light and full of giggles."Oh my gosh , dad. You never fail to surprise me w
The year was almost over , it was the last week of school and Ella had made a lot of friends since her book was published. She had written short stories afterwards for many other anthology books in different countries. Her had become so busy that she had forgotten about her past until they had announced a homecoming dance on the last day of school.Memories flooded Ella's brain and she stormed off into the rest room. The overwhelming feeling made her nauseas and she opened the tap, splashing handfuls of water, wetting her hair and her blouse. She patted her face fry with a paper towel and exited the restroom feeling slightly better."Are you alright?" Scott and James asked Ella as she took her seat next to them in the cafeteria.Ella smiled weakly. " I'm alright. I'm just not a fan of the homecoming dance."They both looked at eachother and then at Ella, they decided not to ask." Well, if you aren't going, then we aren't going." James sipped his milkshake."Don't be foolish. You can'
"Chapter Five.A surprise visit."Annie was laid to rest. Everyone returned home. Peter returned to his study to drown his sorrows with a bottle of whiskey. Martha took Adrianna to her room. It was 6pm and the house was silent. Suddenly a loud knock on the door startled Mr Russell. He peeped through the looking glass on the door and sees old Mr and Mrs Walters. He quickly opens the door and welcomes them in, escorting them to the large sitting room. They sat on the large grey and red L shaped couch. It was italian style, soft and very comfortable. They looked around while they waited. The room was designed beautifully. Annie had designed it herself, red and grey curtains. Her paintings hung on the wall. Throughout the house were Annie's paintings. All were unique like her, beautiful and elegant. They massive 85 inch flat screen was mounted above their electric fire place. And a small glass coffee table was in front of them, letters lay unopen on it. Old Mrs Walters instructed Russell
