I didn't know what to do, my wolf was going crazy inside me. However, when I realised, Bennet had his angry eyes on me. He was looking at me with the clarity that he was completely annoyed that I was there.

However, I felt my wolf waiting inside of me, and without taking it anymore, I fell to my knees on the ground and felt my tears fall from my eyes.

I looked up and fixed my gaze on Bennet's perfect face. His clear eyes, his silky hair, and his pink lips. I had never detailed him in this way until now.

/My mate.../ I said finally in front of everyone present.

At that very moment everyone's eyes fell on me, while a deep growl came from Bennet's lips making the walls of the huge hall echo loudly.

I closed my eyes and began to sob, unable to bear his heavy gaze upon me. But Bennet growled again causing several members of the pack to fall to their knees and bow under his alpha command.

He had a command even more powerful than any alpha, so much so that he made the lower ranking members submit to him without being able to disobey him.

/Rise up!/ Bennet said in his icy, powerful tone.

At his command, everyone immediately stood up with trembling hands, on the other hand, I felt that panic had completely paralysed me. I couldn't even breathe without feeling pain in my chest.

/Bennet.../ suddenly murmured alpha Bennet's fiancée /Baby.... Is this... is this real? Is what this girl says true?/ She asked with tears in her eyes.

I could feel the desperation in the girl's eyes, so I just sighed and looked down in shame.

Meanwhile, Bennet's beta looked out at the crowd and clenched his fists before giving a forced smile.

/Ladies and gentlemen, there has been a slight misunderstanding. Our alpha will take his time to get the situation under control, but unfortunately I must report that the engagement ceremony will have to be suspended for now/ Said beta in his loud voice.

Everyone began to murmur and look at each other indifferently after beta asked them to clear the place in a controlled manner.

Soon all the guests except the bride's family left the great hall.

At that moment Bennet's mother's voice was heard /Hester, darling, what are you saying, is this some kind of joke?/ she said looking at me with doe eyes.

I couldn't help but feel pain in my body when I heard her say that. Instinctively I raised my head and shook my head.

The woman looked at me with astonishment and her eyes reddened. On the other hand, I saw Freddy put his hands on the back of his neck and was surprised by my statement.

/This is a fucking joke!/ Bennet's father's angry shout was heard.

The former alpha, Richard, was as strong as Bennet, but less skilled. In an angry voice he ordered Bennet to speak out at my words.

At that, I looked back at Benmet and noticed the darkness in his eyes. The man loathed me and could not hide it.

/Freddy, come here, now!’ shouted Bennet without taking his eyes off me.

Freddy cleared his throat and took a step towards me as he grabbed my arm, /Here I am...I.../ He said with his voice trembling.

He and Bennet exchanged glances as if they were connecting mentally, at that, Freddy looked at me and sighed, /We have to get out of here/ He said picking me up off the floor and carrying me out of the room.

I felt helpless as I felt his grip on my arm, but my body didn't seem to react to my thoughts.

I walked past Freddy looking at Bennet's furious expression as he muttered a thousand curses through his lips.

I knew he was angry, it was obvious he didn't want me to be his mate. In fact, we didn't even know each other, besides, he was engaged to the daughter of the alpha of a good pack, but now I was his destined mate, and that was a problem for everyone.

Thinking about it, Freddy made me cross one of the corridors and squeezed my arm tightly /Let me go, where are you taking me?/ I asked, trying to free myself from his grip.

He remained silent and dragged me out of the room and into the alpha mansion.

/Let go of me! What are you doing?/ I asked as he pulled me up a couple of stairs to the last room in the hallway.

Suddenly he opens a door and throws me into the room /It's my brother's room/ He said closing the door behind me.

/Freddy, why did you bring me here?/ I asked firmly.

/My brother asked me to/ He replied with an annoyed tone.

/What?/ I asked.

But before I could say anything else, Freddy came up to me and grabbed my arm roughly.

/Is this true? Are you really my brother's mate? Or are you just trying to humiliate me and my family?/ He said in confusion.

Hearing that, I quickly pushed him away and frowned, /Stop it, what are you talking about?/

/You can't... you can't tell the truth. This is a lie!/ He said with an angry shout.

/It's not a lie! Do you think I'm a bloody liar like you? I would never stoop so low/ I said.

/Stop it!’ Freddy shouted, slamming my back against the wall.

My ears were ringing from his loud voice and I clenched my fists.

/You're a liar. My brother, he's the most powerful alpha, he can't be your mate! Hester, you are mine!/ He added.

At that instant my eyes widened like two plates. He had really said that? How could he have the audacity to say that I was his?

In the middle of my rambling I almost let out a smirk. Had he forgotten that he had been fucking my best friend for two years?

/Let go Freddy!/ I shouted in annoyance before pushing him away.

But, despite my best efforts, Freddy was of alpha blood, so my strength was nothing compared to his.

Before he could react, however, the door to the room burst open with a loud bang.

/Let her go!/ I heard a roar.

In a second Freddy's hands froze and his breathing quickened. I quickly turned to the door and saw my mate, alpha Bennet, with his furious expression and his handsome and fucking dangerous and evil demeanour.

It was the first time I had ever seen a man like that, in fact, I always thought Freddy would be my destined mate, which is why I didn't even bother to attend last year's mating ceremonies.

However, the moon goddess struck my reality by giving me my ex-brother-in-law as my real mate. With just one look, Bennet could make me feel a surge of nerves.
