Chapter 23

“Scarlet!” Lucas said, rising into a sitting position.

“I hope you are better now?” Scarlet asked him formally.

“Uhmm yeah I am. I'm fine.”

“What of Maria? I heard she was involved in the accident too?” Scarlet let out a sigh, trying so hard to hide her emotions. It has been a while but Lucas was still stuck with Maria. She had always been a third wheel and she wondered if Lucas had ever thought of her differently.

Lucas' heart sank as she mentioned Maria. He hung his head low, unable to meet her gaze.

“She's fine. She's in another ward.”

“Okay. I have to go now. I'm glad you are okay.”
