"Will you be patient or blew off the house?" Raymond put down the TV remote in his hand and went over to the door.
Someone had been ringing the doorbell incessantly. That person was not very patient.
Raymond opened the door.
"Mrs. Flinch!" Raymond was a little bit surprised. It was their neighbour, Mrs. Flinch. He didn't know that she could be so surly with a doorbell.
"Hi, is Grace in? I want to check if...." she had a big book in her hand which she was busy looking at while talking.
"Come on in, she has been waiting for you" Raymond cut in. He couldn't afford listening to her stories.
He led the way while Mrs. Flinch followed him closely.
"Have your seat" he pointed to a sofa while he climbed up the stairs. Grace just went up not so long ago.
"Mrs. Flinch is here" he said on entering the room without seeing Grace. He expected her to be in the wardrobe closet.
Getting no replies after few minutes. He dashed over to the
Grace peeped to see where her blood might have stained. She didn't see anything. How could it have disappeared just now? She looked at her leg again. Of course, that wasn't a bullet. A bullet would never be that long but she knew nothing about bullets.A giant stylishly made syringe hanged on her leg. She could move the leg now. She was not hit by a bullet. It was a syringe that had released some kind of serum in her body. She removed it from her body. She read the inscription, she didn't know what that meant but she was sure it was to make her sleep. Her eyes were closing. She started feeling dizzy but that didn't stop her ear from getting blast by the siren of the cops that had arrived to the building. She leaped weakly into one of the rooms, she made her way into the restroom therein. She jumped out through the window and dropped on a lower building beside Gilbert's house."I will not sleep,I will not sleep" she chanted as she rolled on the roof
"So all this that you have struck out are completed missions" Raymond looked through a small book in his hand. That was Emily's list of people Grace had been hunting. He walked closer to Grace to show the book to her."So this is your next target, our next target" he opened to another page of the book."No. this is our next target" Grace took the book from his hand and put it on the table. She showed him a giant syringe."What is this?" Raymond had never seen anything like this before. He took it from her and examined it closely. "Is this not a syringe?""It is" Grace replied immediately. "I have to find out who this is and know why he was after me" she collected the syringe back. She went back to the table. There was a laptop she had been working on."So, I guess his name is not in the book" Raymond asked joining her at the table. He grabbed the book again and was checking it."I will advise you not to look pass the next page" she sh
"You will just walk into the store with this in your pocket and just walk into the store" Grace handed him a chip. Raymond parked the car right opposite the store they were coming to."What's this?" Raymond took it from her. He kept examining it as always."Put it in your pocket. It is a jammer" she said furiously. She was angered by his unnecessary questioning."So what will I do after that?" he pocketed the chip and stared at Grace in the eyes."Nothing. You will shop for fifteen minutes and come back here" she explained briefly."And we will go home?" he was sure that wasn't the plan she had. He wanted her to tell him everything. "What about the surveillance camera log?" he reminded her."I will take care of that" she looked away from him to avoid more questions. They should have started the time countdown by now. He was just slowing her down."If all I will do is shop, then what am I?" he definitely didn't like the role she had gi
Grace was busy watching the camera feeds. She had watched it over and over. She didn't see anything or anyone suspicious. All the while, Raymond didn't give her any attention. She knew but she wasn't bothered."When you are through with your thing, you can join me in my own thing" Raymond raised up two glasses when she looked back at him. That was sudden and unexpected. He was all over her trying to get looped in but right now. It was like he had lost all interest. Her eyes caught the duration of the feeds. It seemed it had skipped like ten minutes. She just looked back for like a second. That was strange. She backed the feeds and let it played over again."What, the, hell?" she said slowly. Some parts of the feed was missing. It was like twenty minutes of it had been deleted. The feed jumped from twelve minutes past one to twenty two minutes past one."Where did you see hell?" Raymond asked clearing his throat."I'm sorry. It just ha
"Your man killed another man" Raymond shouted from the living room. That was funny. He should have used another word rather than your man. He was Grace man. However, she understood what he said. The man Grace was looking for. That was what he was talking about. She came in to the living room. Raymond was watching the news. That was where he must have gotten the information."See, he shot another man. Same bullet, same....everything" he said without looking back. He must have heard her footsteps when she came in."He is not my man. Take note, please" she corrected him. That wasn't very ideal."What I says don't matter, it's what you take it to be that matters" Raymond argued. He still had his eyes glued to the TV."So what are you going to do now" he turned to her and asked."What I have been doing always" she grabbed her laptop and booted it."I think you should upgrade and get high end computers soon." Raymond teased her but t
"So who is Rufus Pale?" Raymond read playfully from the small book. "The name is the funniest name I've ever heard" he stared into the laptop Grace was working on."We should be more concerned about the legal consequences for overdosing someone" Grace shouted. Raymond was not letting her think straight."Overdosed to death? I think that should rather be a murder case?" Raymond asked. It should be easy if it wasn't complicated as it was."No, there was a clear cause of death that wasn't connected to him. So for now it's only ODing another person" she explained."I guess this man use to take class of how to get away with murder" he joked. Grace stared at him with dark eyes. She was angry with him for his lack of seriousness."Sorry" he apologized as he saw her darkening eyes."I need to be focused, please" Grace told him. It seemed like he didn't know when to be serious or not."That is very easy. Visit a search engine. Punch in what yo
"Seems like my name has popped up on your screen of targets" Mayor Mount was amazed to see Grace standing aloof in his living room.Grace walked slowly over to him. She dropped a document she held on the table before him."I am visiting you as Grace, one of your your secret agents. It will be better if you let us keep it as that" she sat down without being offered a seat."You cease to be my ally the moment you started killing the citizens of this city" Mayor Mount said furiously. "And you would just take your papers and yourself out of here" he said, closing his eyes and pointing to the door."I should warn my guards against allowing you into this premises anymore" he opened his eyes. Grace was still calmly seated and she had been waiting patiently for him to open his eyes."I told you to get out!" he yelled at her again."I heard you the first time. I am not just ready to take my leave" she smiled."You know I can just get you arrest
Raymond woke up, he tried separating his eyelids from each other. He wondered why that seemed so hard. He couldn't remember how long he had slept that made them stuck to each other so tight. He couldn't move his hand and his body. He was tied to a chair. The ropes used were robust. It seemed unbreakable and whoever had tied him was angry when he tied him. It was too tight to allow shrugging. The place was very dark. It was like hell. It reeked like a waste site. Nothing was visible. The darkness could affect one's sense of reasoning. He groaned hard and tried to get off the chair. If he kept groaning that hard all day, only one thing was obvious. His throat would hurt while the ropes would still remain so tight. The door of the place cracked open. It yanked to a side. It creaked like it has seen many days more than it should.Lights flooded in through the doorway. It didn't get to the side but it ended right at his feet.Palmer walked in. He
"You should feel better now" Raymond put the cup back on the table smiling."You mean the wine is good?" Grace asked, she was pretending she didn't know what he was talking about."No. Not the wine. I am talking about the daughter of the city" he had opened up straight, she wouldn't have a chance of turning his words around anymore."She's good, but her judgement is somehow different from mine" she complained a bit."Two different people can't do the same thing same way. There will always be a slight difference" he explained."I have nothing against her but I'm just thinking operating like this. The Mayour won't be able to back her" she was right about that."She doesn't want it too. And this evil people give more respect to harsh treatment like such" he added."I'm sure we are not here to talk about the daughter of the city" she was becoming boring with their conversation. She stared at her cup weirdly. They had come out to a
The computers pinged as Grace had said. Laura had been waiting for some time to hear that. She couldn't believe it at first. The pinging was not that loud but it was noticeable. She dashed over to the ammunition side and picked up the sword. She started feeling weird. She felt like she couldn't do this anymore. She stood there in front of the weapon. She wanted to take more than just a sword. But it would be useless to take what she wouldn't use. The computer pinged again. Time was going. She wanted to go but she was very much in need of a little push.Maybe she could just make a call to Grace. She would be helpful. They had become something like best friends. She hurried to get her and make the call. Time was no longer on her side. The call took like eternity to get connected, maybe that was because she was calling from an underground."Laura?" Grace said excitedly. There was nothing funny about this. It was damn serious but she had
Protocols were now being duly observed. Raymond and his accompanies were not allowed in until Reyes came out to them.He waved at them to come over."I'm sorry for the delay. Everything has changed since the attempt on the Mayor's life" he apologized as they walked over to him. They all walked together into the living room to meet Mayor Mount where he was comfortably seated."Raymond, Grace" he smiled to welcome them."And you, your face looks familiar" he pointed at Laura.Raymond was a little bit afraid. He wished Mayor Mount had not remembered when she tried to kill him."We met at their base" Laura said slowly."Yeah, I remember. You are that little girl that was in their base. You know I forgot what you were doing there that day" Mayor Mount seemed to have really forgotten. He was visibly trying to recollect."Actually, we are here because of her" Grace broke in suddenly. She was going straight to the point.
Raymond was coming down the stairs. He saw as Grace kept changing the TV channels. She seemed not to find the one suitable for her present mood.He skimmed down to join. He sat by her side without saying anything. She obviously had a lot running through her mind but she was obviously not going to tell him anything except he incited words from her."Maybe TV isn't what you need right now" he grabbed the remote, took it from and gently placed it on the table."What do you think I need then?" she folded her arms. it seemed she was not pleased with that."A good company like me,that has always been working even when you are stuck on the Millionaire Island" he joked.Grace smiled subtly. She was not enjoying the moment as she wanted."What are you thinking about?" he asked."That's my problem. I don't just know where to channel my mind" she shook her head."You really need that before you could channel the TV" he chuckled. She
Raymond was seated by the side of the hospital bed with a newspaper in his hand He wasn't really reading it. He kept checking Grace If she had woken up from her deep sleep. She would wake soon. She had been slept for a long time. She opened her eyes slowly and closed them back immediately like the lights were hurting her eyes."Raymond" she whispered. "Are you there, is that you?" she asked with her eyes closed."Why don't you open your eyes and confirm?" he replied her casually."I'm just confused seeing that in your hand. A publication? Really?" she had not opened her eyes yet and she was already taunting him."Are you okay?" he leaned towards her and asked."I feel better" she moaned. She opened her eyes and sat up."No, no. You have to rest" he quickly retorted. He felt she should be down there on her back.Grace was just looking at him with surprise. She didn't yield to his yearning."I guess I am still alive" she l
"Are you okay?" Raymond asked Grace. lied down on the floor. He gasped. He was exhausted."I have never been better" she said despite all the obvious pain she was going through. She also laid on her back breathing slowly to relax. Hugh sat and rested his back against the wall. He was devastated. It was definitely his first time to kill a man.He was seriously having a conversation within himself. He was raising his hand up above his every now and then.Probably regretting what he had done or he was trying to encourage himself that he had to do it."They say that is how you feel after you have your first kill" Grace chuckled and pointed to Hugh."He will surely get over it" Raymond said assuringly. He was sure of that. Hugh was a person with some facets of a bad guy. It shouldn't be so hard for him."Which makes me remember, Ray. You never had a moment like this. You never felt bad after your first kill. You are not very human" Grace r
Jansen had already heard a series of gunshots inside the building. Not long later, another shots were fired. He wondered what was happening. These guests didn't look like people who could shoot except the city hunter and his guy. And these guns were actually the guns brought by him and his men.He could denote that easily from the sounds of the rounds. He wondered why Dray or Morton or both of them would have been shooting like that unless the situation called for it.He was in awe what the situation could be. He was also having negative thoughts maybe his mem had been overpowered and subdued. He had to do something rather than waiting for them here.He brought out his handgun and headed towards the room. He waited by the first room and listened attentively. It was very quiet. He moved over to the door of another room.He was still trying to catch a sound with his ears when he saw bullets casing right ahead. He walked slowly aiming his gun forward.
Raymond and Grace had gathered all the others in Susan's room. The guests were definitely expecting to see this device they claimed to have found."I don't think we need to show them the real thing" Raymond whispered to Grace. He had already seen the hungry looks on their faces. The hunger to see what the device looked like."Let's just show it to them, to boost their confidence and make them trust us" Grace assumed. She must be thinking the guests might get annoyed if they weren't allowed to see it."They will be on to us soon, if we spent more time here without giving them a feedback" Hugh complained. It seemed he was urging others to hurry them up in handing over the device. He had been staring hard at Raymond and Grace as they had been having mouth to ear conversation. That seemed to have stirred up his anger."I thought you brought us on the fact that you have found this thing?" Mrs Summers said in her old weak voice. She must ha
Raymond and Grace walked along the hallway after everyone had entered into different rooms.Raymond attempted opening a door at room but Grace stopped him immediately. He was stunned."Things like this are not kept inside rooms. Vaults are built to house them" she explained."These people are not looking for treasures and not gold bars. It is something, like a part of nuclear weapon as one of them told me" Raymond argued."No one keeps nuclear weapons in a room also. They are hidden underground in most cases" she was still determined she was right about her opinion."Underground like basement?" Raymond felt she was making sense with what she said."Yeah" she moaned."Then let's get to the basement then" he asserted and walked forward with fast paces and Grace following him. He stopped suddenly."We won't get there unless we are outside" he said in regret."They won't let us go out. And we have to get this thing before th
