"Your mind is not here" Raymond tapped Grace. He had been noticing since they started dancing. She wasn't even dancing. All she did was circling a spot with fake short lived smiles that faded instantly.
"I can't hear you" she screamed putting her hand to her ear. That was obviously a lie. Raymond knew he heard him well. She just wanted to use the loud music as an excuse and avoid the message.
Raymond grabbed him roughly and held him close to his body.
"Oh What!" she screamed in surprise.
"We are here because of you. What is the essence if you yourself is only in body and not in mind. You can't catch fun like that. You understand?" he let go of her but his gaze remained fixed on her. He was waiting for a reaction or response.
"It's okay. It's nothing. I just need a little time to let the party sink in to my brain, mind actually" she pointed her finger to the floor illustrating the sinking in. She had another fake smile. One of those sh
These rich men were funny. He had believed he would find his way out of this by negotiating. It was possible if the people involved had money as their motive. There was another problem. Grace zombie couldn't talk. He hadn't know that yet."First let me introduce my new bodyguard to you. Mr. Tau. That's all we have about him. I'm sorry about his obscenity. I couldn't get him to wear a shirt. I tried a lot. Let's just say I have a luck of getting bodyguards that I can't control. You will be happy to know he is the brain behind this meeting" Robert said with a lot of smiles. He stopped for Grace input. So the shirtless guy was a bodyguard. No wonder he had gotten a lot of muscles. He didn't even look in Grace's direction. He pretended there was no one with them.Grace noticed Robert waiting for her to say something. She touched her wrist with her finger. It seemed Robert didn't understand what she meant. She pointed to the wall cl
Grace came back to her mother's grave in the morning. She put down the flower she brought."Mom, I have executed the first page of your list. Robert Ford had paid all those you wanted him to pay. I guess he is going to run bankrupt but I don't care. All I care about is carrying out your mission" she sobbed and brought out a handkerchief from her purse to wipe her tears."There's a name that should be in there that I think it's not there. I will make sure I find this name and add it to the list. I promise. Rest in peace, mom" she blew a kiss to her headstone and smiled. She turned swiftly and walked out of the cemetery. Raymond was standing by the car. She walked over to him and went into the car. The sadness showed clearly on her face."That's a long time to drop a bouquet of flowers" Raymond joined her in the car. He focused on her instead of starting the car."Have you been crying again" he attempted to wioe the tears in her eyes bu
"You raped Juliet, a fourteen year old girl and threatened her family you will kill them if they dare tell anyone about it" Grace said as Mr. Winter came into his office. He was stunned to see Grace comfortably seated."Can you give me a minute, please?" Mr. Winter whispered to a young lady that came with him into the office. It seemed the lady was his secretary that had come with him for a brief."Yes sir" the lady bowed slightly and went back outside. Mr. Winter moved closer to Grace."Who are you?" he asked her in a low but threatening voice. He stand in front of her, with his arms akimbo."Let's just cut to the chase and skip the introduction part" she waved at him to sit down. Mr. Winter was still in amazement. She smiled at him."How did you come in here in the first place?" he was still baffled by her unexpected presence and her confidence."I can go in anywhere, whenever I want" she turned her view
Mayor Mount was seated in his living room. He checked the time and scoffed. The show had already started. He grabbed his TV remote and changed the channel on the TV."If you are just joining us,it's me,it's us. Voice of Newland and I am still your anchor guiding you through the course of the program as always" Tony introduced the program on TV."Great, I'm just joining you. So let's hear what you have for us today, Tony" Mayor Mount sipped a drink from an exotic cup in his hand inside his living room."Mr. Cole, the hottest issue in our city right now is the tales of the new city hunter that has meted out judgement on two of the great people considered as the pillars of Newland" Tony was talking to his guest on the show, Mr. Cole."That's quite a name, City Hunter. I hope it's not who I am thinking" Mayor Mount muttered to himself."Hmmm. The city hunter" Mr. Cole scoffed and chuckled. "Her first mission, it was against
The emcee climbed on to the podium. He clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention."We welcome you all to our fundraising event. As we await the arrival of our Chairman, Mr. Slade, who is surely on his way right now. I want all of us to enjoy ourselves" he said as soon as he caught the attention of everyone.Grace turned around to see who had just walked up behind her. It was Mayor Mount with a hard face."Mayor" she said surprisingly. She didn't expect to see him. But this is a party for influential people. She should have expected him."I didn't see Raymond around, you two seemed not so close anymore. Did you leave him at home because today is another day the city hunter wish to strike or you have him ingested some sleeping potion" Mayor Mount meant a lot with what he had just said. It was very clear to Grace but she didn't want to acknowledge that.Luckily, Raymond appeared from the midst of the crowd behind Mayor Mount.
Raymond came down from upstairs. Grace was in the living room. She was watching TV. Raymond sat down beside her."I saw the way the Mayor stared at you at the fundraising, that wasn't a pleasant face. What happened between you two?" he asked to initiate a conversation."Nothing ensued between us. You were there" she flashed her eyebrows. Raymond was not there the whole time and she knew that, she was just lying."You know the way you lie these days makes me afraid of you" Raymond said slowly. That was something that was causing great pain in him."The way I lie?" Grace asked and bursted out laughing. That wasn't a joke, of course. It wasn't even funny. Raymond couldn't understand her anymore."If there is a problem between both of you, it will be in your best interest to loop me in" he said slowly again. He was indeed sad. This was how it usually started when a relationship would fall apart. Grace didn't even care anymore about that."I'm so
Mr. Slade walked through the restaurant. He didn't bother to answer anyone that greeted him as he passed by. He went into the kitchen and made his way to a hidden office. This was the office of the Letties. The restaurant was just a front. They were a bad group of lady criminals and Mr. Slade answered to them. They were his bosses."I see you are now dining with the Mayor. You have soared beyond my expectations" a female voice said from behind him.Mr Slade was stunned. He turned quickly to meet Annie, one of the Letties."We have a problem on our hands. The secret is in the open" Mr. Slade let out quickly."Point of correction. You, you have a problem on your hands" Annie pointed to him. She walked over to a table and sat down placing one leg over the other. She obviously didn't take him serious and that was a little shocking for Mr. Slade."Have you been visited by the city hunter or huntress, I heard she is a woman. An ordin
"Your wish, you had forgotten?" Raymond reminded her despite being drunk. He opened his mouth wide in amazement that she had forgotten."Oh!"Grace smiled. It seemed she has recollected. " Ray, you are very drunk right now. Talking to you will be meaningless" she scoffed.Raymond got up and knelt in front of her."I tried all I could then, but I couldn't get it but I have started saving part of my salary. We are going to get there" he buried his face in her laps. He begged her hard."That's alright, I heard you. We will get there and take your heavy head off me" she tried pushing his head away but he resisted."I said I heard you. Are you sleeping already?" she asked as Raymond started snoring without sleeping."I want it now" he grumbled. He remained glued to her."What do you want?" she didn't know what to do with him."My honeymoon. Let's have our honeymoon today. I can't wait anymore. I know we can't do the gra
"You should feel better now" Raymond put the cup back on the table smiling."You mean the wine is good?" Grace asked, she was pretending she didn't know what he was talking about."No. Not the wine. I am talking about the daughter of the city" he had opened up straight, she wouldn't have a chance of turning his words around anymore."She's good, but her judgement is somehow different from mine" she complained a bit."Two different people can't do the same thing same way. There will always be a slight difference" he explained."I have nothing against her but I'm just thinking operating like this. The Mayour won't be able to back her" she was right about that."She doesn't want it too. And this evil people give more respect to harsh treatment like such" he added."I'm sure we are not here to talk about the daughter of the city" she was becoming boring with their conversation. She stared at her cup weirdly. They had come out to a
The computers pinged as Grace had said. Laura had been waiting for some time to hear that. She couldn't believe it at first. The pinging was not that loud but it was noticeable. She dashed over to the ammunition side and picked up the sword. She started feeling weird. She felt like she couldn't do this anymore. She stood there in front of the weapon. She wanted to take more than just a sword. But it would be useless to take what she wouldn't use. The computer pinged again. Time was going. She wanted to go but she was very much in need of a little push.Maybe she could just make a call to Grace. She would be helpful. They had become something like best friends. She hurried to get her and make the call. Time was no longer on her side. The call took like eternity to get connected, maybe that was because she was calling from an underground."Laura?" Grace said excitedly. There was nothing funny about this. It was damn serious but she had
Protocols were now being duly observed. Raymond and his accompanies were not allowed in until Reyes came out to them.He waved at them to come over."I'm sorry for the delay. Everything has changed since the attempt on the Mayor's life" he apologized as they walked over to him. They all walked together into the living room to meet Mayor Mount where he was comfortably seated."Raymond, Grace" he smiled to welcome them."And you, your face looks familiar" he pointed at Laura.Raymond was a little bit afraid. He wished Mayor Mount had not remembered when she tried to kill him."We met at their base" Laura said slowly."Yeah, I remember. You are that little girl that was in their base. You know I forgot what you were doing there that day" Mayor Mount seemed to have really forgotten. He was visibly trying to recollect."Actually, we are here because of her" Grace broke in suddenly. She was going straight to the point.
Raymond was coming down the stairs. He saw as Grace kept changing the TV channels. She seemed not to find the one suitable for her present mood.He skimmed down to join. He sat by her side without saying anything. She obviously had a lot running through her mind but she was obviously not going to tell him anything except he incited words from her."Maybe TV isn't what you need right now" he grabbed the remote, took it from and gently placed it on the table."What do you think I need then?" she folded her arms. it seemed she was not pleased with that."A good company like me,that has always been working even when you are stuck on the Millionaire Island" he joked.Grace smiled subtly. She was not enjoying the moment as she wanted."What are you thinking about?" he asked."That's my problem. I don't just know where to channel my mind" she shook her head."You really need that before you could channel the TV" he chuckled. She
Raymond was seated by the side of the hospital bed with a newspaper in his hand He wasn't really reading it. He kept checking Grace If she had woken up from her deep sleep. She would wake soon. She had been slept for a long time. She opened her eyes slowly and closed them back immediately like the lights were hurting her eyes."Raymond" she whispered. "Are you there, is that you?" she asked with her eyes closed."Why don't you open your eyes and confirm?" he replied her casually."I'm just confused seeing that in your hand. A publication? Really?" she had not opened her eyes yet and she was already taunting him."Are you okay?" he leaned towards her and asked."I feel better" she moaned. She opened her eyes and sat up."No, no. You have to rest" he quickly retorted. He felt she should be down there on her back.Grace was just looking at him with surprise. She didn't yield to his yearning."I guess I am still alive" she l
"Are you okay?" Raymond asked Grace. lied down on the floor. He gasped. He was exhausted."I have never been better" she said despite all the obvious pain she was going through. She also laid on her back breathing slowly to relax. Hugh sat and rested his back against the wall. He was devastated. It was definitely his first time to kill a man.He was seriously having a conversation within himself. He was raising his hand up above his every now and then.Probably regretting what he had done or he was trying to encourage himself that he had to do it."They say that is how you feel after you have your first kill" Grace chuckled and pointed to Hugh."He will surely get over it" Raymond said assuringly. He was sure of that. Hugh was a person with some facets of a bad guy. It shouldn't be so hard for him."Which makes me remember, Ray. You never had a moment like this. You never felt bad after your first kill. You are not very human" Grace r
Jansen had already heard a series of gunshots inside the building. Not long later, another shots were fired. He wondered what was happening. These guests didn't look like people who could shoot except the city hunter and his guy. And these guns were actually the guns brought by him and his men.He could denote that easily from the sounds of the rounds. He wondered why Dray or Morton or both of them would have been shooting like that unless the situation called for it.He was in awe what the situation could be. He was also having negative thoughts maybe his mem had been overpowered and subdued. He had to do something rather than waiting for them here.He brought out his handgun and headed towards the room. He waited by the first room and listened attentively. It was very quiet. He moved over to the door of another room.He was still trying to catch a sound with his ears when he saw bullets casing right ahead. He walked slowly aiming his gun forward.
Raymond and Grace had gathered all the others in Susan's room. The guests were definitely expecting to see this device they claimed to have found."I don't think we need to show them the real thing" Raymond whispered to Grace. He had already seen the hungry looks on their faces. The hunger to see what the device looked like."Let's just show it to them, to boost their confidence and make them trust us" Grace assumed. She must be thinking the guests might get annoyed if they weren't allowed to see it."They will be on to us soon, if we spent more time here without giving them a feedback" Hugh complained. It seemed he was urging others to hurry them up in handing over the device. He had been staring hard at Raymond and Grace as they had been having mouth to ear conversation. That seemed to have stirred up his anger."I thought you brought us on the fact that you have found this thing?" Mrs Summers said in her old weak voice. She must ha
Raymond and Grace walked along the hallway after everyone had entered into different rooms.Raymond attempted opening a door at room but Grace stopped him immediately. He was stunned."Things like this are not kept inside rooms. Vaults are built to house them" she explained."These people are not looking for treasures and not gold bars. It is something, like a part of nuclear weapon as one of them told me" Raymond argued."No one keeps nuclear weapons in a room also. They are hidden underground in most cases" she was still determined she was right about her opinion."Underground like basement?" Raymond felt she was making sense with what she said."Yeah" she moaned."Then let's get to the basement then" he asserted and walked forward with fast paces and Grace following him. He stopped suddenly."We won't get there unless we are outside" he said in regret."They won't let us go out. And we have to get this thing before th
