Stella pushed open the door to a courtyard. She glanced around, seeing no one, and then stepped into a room.

“Grandfather.”

She approached an old man and respectfully said, “Jack is dead.”

“Dead?” Tempus turned to face her, his clouded eyes narrowing. A powerful aura surrounded him.

Tempus was the true leader of the Johnson family, though he had passed leadership to Bane twenty years ago and chose to live in isolation in the courtyard behind the family home.

He rarely ventured out, and few of the younger generation even knew of him.
