Eden smiled and gave Edmund’s shoulder a reassuring pat. "Stay with him a little while longer. We’ll be leaving soon."

The door opened, and another man walked in, taking his place behind him. "Sir."

The man at the window asked, still looking outside, "How is the investigation going?"

"The operative we sent killed himself. We can confirm that Sinead had indeed stopped breathing, but we don’t yet know how she was saved. The hospital has kept a tight lid on the information."

After a pause, the underling continued, "It seems you were right, sir. It was Alain’s fiancée. Sinead was saved when she arrived, and I heard she fainted for three days after.
