Chapter 1 Anyone but Noah Brinx

last update Last Updated: 2022-07-25 20:40:17

Hello, I'm Raven Volkov, the youngest daughter of Emma and Zurac Volkov. I live somewhere in Siberia within my parent's Bella Luna community. I have two older brothers, Aiden and Yutu, and one older sister, Nicole. She's already mated to Sven Thompson and expecting a pup. Oh right, we're all werewolves. As any young adult child of wereparents knows, they are all hyped up about finding out their child's mate and getting them hitched. Hence the reason why I'm currently sitting here rubbing my amber eyes waiting for Circe the Ash tree nymph, who was just about to inform my mom and me about my mate (she could see the future). She raises her boney arms and starts her low groans.

"He's the offspring of a close friend, very dark within but bright on the outside and you keep him level-headed with your blood bond," she had mumbled with a croak. The image of Abby's son flashed within my mind's eye and I shuddered. He was my mom's best friend's son. Noah Brinx was also my best male friend. We had grown up together and he still sported the scar on his chest where I stabbed him with a fork when we were little. We swam naked together, he rode my wolf through the Siberian forests. He lightened my hair, I trimmed his, and we had even double-dated, both of us losing our v cards to others on the same night.

"Do you find him attractive?" My wolf, Adira, asked, interrupting my busy mind. My brow creased and my bottom lip stuck out as I thought about his tall form and lean muscles. His sharp jawline, and straight nose. His white as snow hair fell haphazardly over his pretty clear blue eyes. Noah looked like a real-life anime character. I answered, "yeah, he's alright, he is the light to my darkness." She sighed that he didn't have a wolf so was unworthy of us. I snickered, mumbling that he was a demon too and my mother glanced down at me with her stern look.

"I had hoped that once your maturity had come and you experienced it for a few years that your mate would have changed to Igor or Rodion. They both are descendants of the actual Rasputin and might be hung like…oh nevermind," my mother sputtered. I had already heard about Rasputin and his thirteen-inch weiner. I wasn't a pristine primrose like my mother thought. I had been corrupted by my dearest friend Noah's debauchery and had not minded in the least. I also didn't believe a huge penis was something I was interested in since my first time was painful and not enjoyable and his size had been average. My mother hugged Circe and told her to enjoy the rest of her day. It was harvesting time so all the men were out clearing the fields while the females were canning and preparing food to be stored for the bitter winter that would be coming in a few months. Oh, how I disliked the winter and hoped I could convince my father to ship me off to stay in Vegas with Noah's parents. They owned and ran a hotel called the Relruz. I'd been doing that for years now and just because Circe says he's my mate doesn't truly make it so.

"Should I pack for Vegas?" I asked my nervous-looking mother. She glanced over at me and said,"I must speak with your father first and see what he thinks." I laughed internally knowing my dad would be thrilled.

"Noah lives in his own home and not at the Relruz. Plus he has a girlfriend, Della, who has been staying with him," I added to my case. My mother's forehead creased as she looked at me.

"Has Noah ever shown any sexual interest in you, Honey?" She asked me and I shook my head.

"No Ma, we act more like siblings. I've seen his junk and he's seen mine but that was when we went skinny dipping. He's never even touched me inappropriately," I said softly and she made an ahh sound. I curled my lip in bitterness, not wanting her to feel sorry for me. I wasn't narcissistic but I knew I was cute looking with my long wavy light auburn hair, thin frame, and big amber eyes. Noah had even said so himself numerous times. I rolled my eyes as my mom continued her pity look.

"Maybe you should dress more provocatively," she suggested and I balked.

"Ew, no way," I growled menacingly and pulled at the bottom of my graphic tee. My mom chuckled softly and told me to go pack as she had a word for my father. I hugged her tightly and dashed off to my room. I dragged my suitcase out of my closet and rummaged through the items hanging up in the walk-in room. I was twenty by human standards and my fake id said that my birthday was on October 31st meaning once again I'd be gone from home for it.

"Noah's already twenty-one because your mother insisted on making you younger longer," Adira whines.

"She and I discussed that and you know very well she simply didn't want her last child to grow up and leave her. She didn't know mated couples were only allowed two births to not cause overpopulation of their kind," I replied and she huffed in my head.

"You're excited to see the male demon," she accused me and I laughed nervously.

"I haven't seen him for the entire summer and last time that happened, he'd grown a foot and got more handsome," I giggled softly hearing my wolf groaning.

"Maybe he grew soft and bald or the golddigger he's with murdered him," she chuckled and I scowled. I had briefly forgotten about the perfect female demon that took Noah like a paid expert. I exhaled deeply cursing to myself.

"I have no chance wolf, I lost my virginity and sex sucked, it hurt and I'm supposed to compete against a chick that can suck a golf ball through a garden hose?" I mumbled sourly and sat on my bed.

"Maybe I should just stay here for the winter," I added and Adira agreed. I dragged my suitcase back into my closet and headed downstairs to the living room. My brother Yutu still lived here and was laying on the couch so I jumped on him. He huffed and shoved me to the floor as I laughed out loud.

"Better get your crap ready for the Brinxs'. Dad told me they're flying here to pick you up today," he said through his yawn. I eyed him oddly and asked if Noah was coming too and he chuckled.

"Why haven't you both announced that you're in love with each other and do your mate marks," he mumbled sourly and I pinched his arm.

"Noah has a girlfriend and has been with her for years now, he's not interested in me," I snapped back and he just smiled brightly at me.

"I'm staying here for the winter," I added as I crossed my thin arms and sat next to him. Yutu glanced over at me and whistled.

"You're going to freeze your scrawny self. Plus Noah needs his yearly blood from you. Are you going to make him stay here? That's so cruel of you sis," he laughed heartily and I grinned slightly thinking that maybe I should. Noah and I were blood bonded when our pack was attacked by soldiers from the golden blood project. A select few of us actually carry the gold blood in our veins. Both Noah and I, along with my mom, dad, and brother Yutu. Noah had gotten injured and needed some of my blood to heal. Because we were mates it bonded him to me and he needs to feed once a year or he'll go crazy like his grandfather Mortas. Mortas killed hundreds of humans during his rampaging.

"So what's there to do in the snow?" I asked curiously and Yutu shook his head and said I'd stay inside and stay safe. I sat back and growled, "boring." I heard the front door open and the murmuring of Abby. I leaned over and saw Noah's mother standing in the foyer with my mom. Yutu smiled seeing the pair and watched me as he spoke.

"Raven wants to stay home for the winter, so Noah can stay in Aiden's old room during the season," he said clearly. I glanced over at Abby and my eyes narrowed seeing the white-haired man peeking over at me with utter shock in his blue eyes.

"Sounds like a great time, doesn't it Della," he mumbled softly and I gritted my teeth seeing his demon girlfriend grinning up at him. I sat back and looked at my brother.

"Thanks, butt wipe," I growled bitterly and he smiled, showing me his pearly whites.

"That's fine. Raven go show him and his girlfriend where they'll be staying," my mother ordered. I rolled my eyes and scooted off the couch to approach the pair.

"Act natural, don't do anything stupid," my wolf growled and I smiled happily looking up at Noah's now red eyes.

"Come on losers, I'll take you to your humble abode," I mumbled sourly and felt Noah pull me to himself and hold me against his tall frame.

"I've missed you brat, an entire summer, and not even one call, you're slacking," he scolded me and I was grinning like a fool. When I looked up I told him I was sorry but was learning about farming. He shook his head and said,"no excuse, sweetheart." My eyes narrowed at him calling me that and I glanced over at Della who looked pissed.

"Enough with your odd flirting Noah, grab your bags and follow me," I said firmly and he laughed and grabbed their two suitcases and followed me up the stairs to the room right next to mine. I noticed that he looked at my room and bit his lower lip.

"I thought Aiden's room was across the hall?" He mumbled softly and I shook my head and told him that was my parent's room.

"Guess you'll have to fuck quietly," I said sarcastically and shocked Noah. I opened the door and told them both where it was and turned to go back downstairs. Noah told Della to go on inside and ran after me before I started down the stairs. I felt his hand on my shoulder and turned towards him.

"What's going on Raven? You're acting really oddly," he mumbled softly.

"I think you better get to Eureka, I mean Della before she gets upset," I said bitterly and sighed and told him sorry.

"I wasn't expecting any of this," I said sincerely and patted his smooth cheek before turning and feeling jealousy brewing within my gut. I cursed internally realizing that he looked so damn hot.

"Why do his eyes always turn red though, his blue eyes are so pretty," I mumbled softly to Adira and she growled saying she wasn't certain. I hadn't realized that the time was so late. My parents were having a cookout with Noah's parents and all my siblings and their families.

I was sitting on a bench when the bear alarm went off.

"I got it, dad," I said firmly and stood. I headed towards the brush and stripped to shift to my fire wolf (my father, Aiden, and I have demon wolves that are created with flames). I sniffed the air and could smell the large grizzly. I headed towards it and nipped at its legs as I chased the creature away from our pack. I sat on my haunches and watched the bear run off. I scented another unfamiliar scent of Sulfur and turned too late as my head was covered with a large bag. I started to howl as loudly as I could in hopes someone would hear before I was hoisted up and being carried away.

I yelled out and the man with black shaggy hair and amber eyes looked at me oddly and spoke in Russian. He introduced himself as Zath Volkov and he was searching for his brother Zurac. I watched his eyes go red and my eyes narrowed."I can't walk Raven, no one is going to desire a man that has metal for flesh. I knocked softly at first and then gradually made it louder as no one was answering. I turned the knob and looked inside and saw an empty room. I frowned immediately and figured Noah had run off to sleep with one of his "lady" friends. I walked in and closed the door behind me and heard a groan and tilted my head. I headed towards the bed and heard another annoyed grunt."Noah?" I muttered and heard him wince."I'm happy that you never listen to my orders, dear. Could you help me? I've seemed to have wedged myself between the wall and bed," he mumbled sourly and I snickered seeing his blonde head peeking out of the covers."I'll help you but if I touch any of your jizz I'm dumping you right back in the crack," I said firmly and he grimaced. He grabbed my arm as I pulled."Use your legs you heavy ass," I grunted as I pulled him to stand."Your breath stinks," he said with a gag. I stretched my arms up over my head and opened my eyes in a panic, wondering where in the hell I was."You had sex with a hot demon you just met and are in his bed, in his house next door to Lucifer where Noah, your mate is located," Adira reminded me. I squinted my eyes and told her to hush in my aching brain. I tossed the cover off and glanced around the neatly decorated room. I glanced down at my bare breasts and briefly recalled what I'd done the previous evening. I could hear a shower running and assumed that was where Dagon was. I looked around for a closet with clothes so I could borrow a t-shirt. The bathroom door opened and the man from last evening came out in a cloud of steam. His yellow eyes landed on me and he grinned."Morning sweetheart, waters hot if you want to shower," he said sincerely and I thanked him and asked for a shirt. He rummaged through his closet and handed me a large plain gray one."You can keep it," he said after tossing it to me. I laughed and told him

The flight to Colorado seemed shorter as my mind tried to comprehend what was going on in Noah's odd thought process. The plane landed with thoughts of Noah and Dagon being buddy buddy concerning me. I wondered why, if Dagon intended to mark me before Noah. Raina told me to grab some of my bags as she and Eric headed toward the plane's exit with their arms full of my things."Thought this was just a short getaway but you packed like it's permanent," Eric exclaimed. I shrugged and hoisted the bag up on my shoulder. We loaded the rental car and Raina mentioned that my mom had called a cleaning service and that the house should be clean when we arrive."She also had the pantry stocked and freezer so you'll have food," she exclaimed. I nodded and climbed in the back next to my bags. I stared out the window as Eric headed out onto the highway and we traveled toward the thick forest. My mother's property was located on the outskirts of a national forest. Thirty acres with a cabin built in

I laid face first onto the king-size mattress and made an obnoxious noise like my body was leaking. Yeah, I farted, a long rumbling of hot gas. "Not very lady-like," Adira mentions and I told her that my stomach feels much better. I got a whiff of the smell and buried my face into the pillow and thought Noah would have given me a point for that one. I scrambled out of bed and went to open the balcony door to air out my stench. I stepped out on the patio to see the moon already high in the night sky. I overheard giggles and glanced over towards the barn, and saw Anna and a man with undeniable white hair. "That hoe bag moves fast," I growled and Adira agreed wholeheartedly. Noah may not believe in mates but I did and it was getting painful to see him with so many other women. "What are you going to do, dearest?" My wolf asked me. I slipped on my converse and told her I was going to break up the party. I ran down the stairs and outside towards the barn speaking loudly enough so they co

"Noah's been with hundreds I'm certain whereas I have been intimate with two. Robert Bucks who took my v card and Dagon," I announced and she gasped at me."Why didn't you give it to Noah?" She asked and I told her he didn't want me in that way. She frowned and told me sorry and that I was a beautiful woman. I laid on my back going over what had occurred between Noah and myself. His blatant nonsense of not being friends anymore was as ridiculous as when I announced it. I knew enough about mates that nothing would keep them apart once the swap of each other's cells had occurred. Our kiss caused his entire being to crave me and his marriage to Brenda wouldn't faze him one tiny bit or stop his need for me. A face entered my line of sight. It was a young dark-haired female demon with a smile on her small face. "Hello Raven, I'm Harper and was sent by the big guy to help you out," she said cheerfully. I mumbled "fabulous" as I sat up and huffed in frustration. "I'm told that you shouldn't experience your mate's heat so that I may claim mine," she said with a large grin. I noticed her fangs and asked if Dagon was her mate. She nodded and told me Lucifer told her that he was and that I would help her. I returned to the Northern pack with Dagon in Rune's shell. I was still rather confused by the whole soul jumping and the prediction Circe had given me so long ago. Dagon explained that she was probably confused by seeing souls being swapped and just formed a reasonable reading. I shrugged as I leaned back on the couch filling out a decree to have all the packs call King Noah his new name Dagon. I signed it and handed it to Sköll who happened to be there staring at my swollen baby bump which had increased in size in a short amount of time."When this baby grows up I'd like to give him back the position. We can go to Colorado or hell," I said softly to Dagon and he nodded. His yellow eyes were glowing and following me around."We can do whatever you like, sweetheart, as long as we are together," he said sincerely. I chuckled and glanced over at him."So we are wed?" I asked him and he chuckled, pulling me onto his lap."Yes Raven, you are my wife, true mate, and the keeper of my heart,"

The Western pack reminded me instantly of home; it was even set in the same layout as my father's pack in Siberia. There were pack houses around a town center with a fish pond. Children were feeding them with pellets and joyous giggles filled the air making me smile. I squeezed Noah’s hand and he grinned down at me but it didn't reach his eyes causing me concern. "Did he have a bad break up with this Jax fellow, wolfy?" I asked Adria within my mind and she told me she didn't know and neither had Remus. I chewed on my bottom lip as we continued down a paved walkway towards a lovely Victorian isk house tucked away between large silver birch trees. "I don't think this is wise," Noah mumbled and I eyed him as I pulled on his arm."You look like Rune, perhaps he hasn't been told about your soul transfer," I offered and he grew stern. He nodded and continued. We headed up the stairs to the porch and Noah asked me to knock."Do I look presentable?" I asked curiously and he glanced over at me

I spotted a sign that read "Welcome to Wolfhaven" and pointed it out to Noah."How ironic," my wolf chortled in my mind, making me giggle. The pack members that were wandering through the town stopped when they saw Noah and me and nodded their heads at us. My mouth fell open at the three huge males that came forward and stood before us asking us to come with them. Noah grinned slightly and asked them if they were going to escort us to Sasha. The three looked between themselves and chuckled as they nodded."Certainly, your highness, come this way," they smiled."Can you tell me a bit about Sasha?" Noah asked the largest one of them. He side-eyed Noah and nodded."She is the daughter of Alpha Ash of the Americas," he said solemnly. I thought about it and didn't know who Alpha Ash was and Noah didn't have a clue either. So we traveled to the large home in the distance without further conversation. The largest male did tell us his name was Marcus as he yelled out for Kellum. The home's do

Faust came up the stairs along with Jasira and Bjorn. They hugged Faelon too and I was bawling my eyes out at the amount of support they were giving one another. "I missed you so much dad, I thought you abandoned me and fell so low," Faelon sobbed and Noah pulled him to his chest and told him he'd never abandon his children. "I love you all and am proud of each of you. Even you Bjorn," he said sincerely."You better, I am your double-g's left hand after all," Bjorn chuckled and patted Faelon's back. I overheard him ask Faelon how he'd snuck out and Faelon smirked and told him it was a secret. That concerned me a bit. I didn't want him to get into trouble with the devil. The Elders circled all of us to give our family some privacy and Fiana told us the crowd had stopped watching our show and were entertaining themselves. I thanked her and watched Noah taking Faelon off to the side to speak with him in private. "I'm being summoned by the big guy, mom. Love you and hope to see you mor

I noticed that my son Faust was sitting alone sipping on a glass of wine all by himself. He felt my eyes on him and glanced over at me. He gestured if he could join me and I nodded. He asked, changing the subject. I grinned slightly and shook my head."The man can sleep through a volcano erupting," I said softly and Faust laughed."Do you think Faelon is the way he is because I wasn't, well Noah and I weren't there to raise him?" I asked curiously. What Noah had said bothered me. Faust looked at me and sighed."Hearing of dad's death shook him more so. I think that was a pivotal piece that broke him. His demon side has fallen and that's unheard of even in hell. Lucifer is learning much from his existence," he said sadly."So he's a bad egg all around eh?" I mumbled sourly and Faust laughed."He ju

Noah stopped and emitted a low growl as he glanced off in this distance."Go to the right side of the lake and dress quickly. He stood bipedal on large haunches and growled at me to hurry. I swam quickly to the side and dressed as I watched him exiting the water.
