Angel
The words were stuck in my throat as Alpha Aaron’s hand wrapped around my neck, putting enough pressure to prevent me from breathing.
Spurts of fur surged on his arms, and his gleaming eyes zeroed in on me as he released a loud guttural howl.
“You fucking mutt! Do you think a little bitch like you can reject me? You can’t! But I won’t have a low creature such as yourself as my Luna. The Moon Goddess will give me someone worthy of me and my pack; a second chance mate to correct the flagrant mistake of this match!” he yelled, the words radiating from him in waves of anger.
My hands reached up slowly, and since my body was too weak to fight, I failed to push his strangling hand away.
“Angel, he will reject us. There is no way we will survive rejection. We are too weak now with this much wolfsbane. I can hardly feel my tail! He can’t do this!” Sia whimpered in my mind, her voice weaker than a whisper. She was right, our chances of survival were low, and the Alpha didn’t seem to care about it. I, on the other hand, had always loved to challenge the odds, and I would fight with everything I had to survive and to be able to go back home to Stella again.
“I, Alpha Aaron of the Opal Moon Pack, reject you, Angeline Chantara, as my mate and Luna!” he spat, letting go of my neck. My eyes clenched close as the severe pain of the rejection crushed through my bones and my soul. Before I could catch a breath, his fist met my face, “I am not your mate anymore, bitch! Now I can ruin this pretty face! And have you for the only thing you seemed to be useful for!”
His words were enough to break our bond, since he was an Alpha and I had no rank. Talk about equality!
Soon, searing agony spread through my whole body. Still, through the physical and spiritual pain, something inside me smiled. Everything in me was broken, yet something broke free. So, those were his true colours. That was the man I was about to mate with. Thank Goddess I rejected his as.s Yes, the final words were his, but I was the one to reject this high-on-ego-Alpha’s ass!
“Why are you smiling, crazy bitch? I will wreck you! I am looking forward to making you bleed, tearing you to shreds with this!” he spat, pressing his stiff shaft against my clothed leg and making me want to vomit. “That will be only the start, whore! I will ram it into you until you can’t walk anymore, force you to take my cock until you collapse. Then, I will wake you up and do it again. Over. and. Over! You will regret it, fucking bitch, you will curse the damn day you were born!” My hazy mind focused on his anger instead of his words. He was foaming.
Sia was trembling in my mind, her fear flowing through me. I kept repeating these words in my mind – I had to make it through. I had to survive anything and everything for Stella and for myself.
A knock on the door made the Alpha exhale sharply, cursing under his breath as his weight was lifted from my body.
Inhaling deeply for air, I tried to open my eyes, but I was too tired, too hurt. I only had enough energy to do one thing: survive.
“What do you want?” Aaron asked someone after opening the door.
“I saw the way your little mate left the dining room, and I had an idea of what is happening. She isn’t worthy of you, and you have no use for her, but I do. Sell her to me,” a man said.
“Maybe that hazel-eyed Alpha, Grant, can save us, Angel,” Sia murmured in my mind.
"Sia, no one will save us. If we don’t find a way out of this by ourselves, we are lost,” I told her.
What? Sell? Who was this man? My weak mind took a while to register and recognise his voice; that was the man that was staring at me downstairs, the weird Alpha that arrived late — Alpha Blake.
“Blake, what in the sixth Pit of Hell are you talking about?” Aaron’s shocked words only confirmed my assumption.
“I am offering you an opportunity: sell me the girl. I have a better use for her than you do. She isn’t worthy of you or your pack, my friend,” I heard Blake’s words, and panic flared into my mind.
No, he couldn’t take me, I couldn’t be away from my sister. And what the hell this sicko wanted to do with me? Who buys people? I tried to call for Sia, but she was unreachable, too weak to come to the surface of my mind. My body was growing heavier, and it was so hard to remain awake, but I had to. I had to hear everything and mind-link Julia.
A single face popped into my mind. All I could see was Stella’s sweet blue eyes and her strawberry-blond hair, and it broke my damn heart even further. Tears trickled from my closed eyes. I couldn’t leave her, no! I had to find a way to mind-link Julia and tell her to protect Stella, to watch her while I was away — until I managed to escape whatever this Blake guy had planned for me and came back.
“No! She is my Omega now!” Aaron declared. So that’s what he had in mind? To make me an Omega? I had nothing against this plan as I always respected Omegas and their hard work.
“You didn’t even hear how much I am offering, plus being an Omega is not punishment enough for her. I and all other Alphas know what she did, Aaron; she brought you eternal shame! I will give you two hundred thousand gold coins for her and give her the treatment she deserves: you know the Vampires near the border of my pack, don’t you? They are always looking for pets, for blood dolls. I will use her, auction her in one of their infamous auction houses, and give you the rest of the money.” Blake told Aaron, making a weak gasp part my numb lips. An auction house? Two hundred thousand gold coins? That was a lot of money, but no amount could buy a person! This was absurd, obnoxious! Those were the last words I heard before I blacked out completely.
Opening my eyes with difficulty, I looked around. It was all dark, and Sia’s vision wasn’t yet working; we were both too weak for me to use her senses in my form. Every single muscle of my body hurt, and sitting up or even closing my hand seemed impossible. Something was moving steadily under me. So, I was in a car? Was Blake taking me to the Vampires’ auction house?
I didn’t matter now; all that mattered was Stella. I had to mind-link Julia.
“Sia, please. Please, listen to me. We have to do it,” I called her, and a quiet whimper filled my mind. She was in so much pain, even more than me. My poor wolf had all her hopes dashed, her heart broken. She wanted a mate so much.
“I will try, Angel,” she murmured back. After many failed attempts, Sia was about to give up, but I couldn’t have it.
“Sia, we made it. We survived his rejection. We are strong together, Girl. We have each other. We will survive whatever comes next and find our way back to Stella,” I reassured her, trying to make her understand how strong she was. She didn’t need a mate – especially not that shitty one. We didn’t need a mate. I was back to my right mind and had reclaimed myself.
“We are strong! We can do it, Angel! It will work!” she reassured me back.
Sia and I focused as much as we could, channelling all our energy and strength to the task at hand, and after long minutes of struggle and a searing headache, we finally could reach Julia’s mind, “Julia, please. Alpha Aaron sent me away. Please take care of little Stella. Please tell her that I love her. Protect her, look after her. Tell her stories before she goes to bed.”
“I will, sure. Alpha Aaron told me that I can’t communicate with anyone outside our pack, that I can’t say anything about you. He threatened my family and me. I don’t understand what is happening. Angel, where–” I heard her worried voice before passing out from exhaustion once again.

I woke up with a start as someone threw some cold liquid on my face. Taking a lungful of air, I opened my eyes slowly and looked at the surroundings. I was in some kind of warehouse, tied to a chair. My arms were behind my back, hands tied together, and I could barely move a muscle. Alpha Blake and a few other wolves were surrounding me.
As I regained my bearings, my gaze assessed the room once again, a little slower this time. Besides Alpha Blake there were four men in Elite Warrior uniforms. One of them couldn’t stop smiling, while the other ones looked very serious, arms crossed in front of their chests holding a very serious stance.
“So, can we have a go with her? She is such a doll; why can’t we play with her before he comes? Such a fucking waste of good as.s,” the smiling-elite-warrior dude asked, striding closer to me and sniffing me as if he were a dog in heat – Goddess, help me! He made me gag hard, and I was this close to showing him how this doll here vomits.
Alpha Blake shook his head, pushing the man away from me. “No, you idiot! Even though it is tempting, we aren’t to do anything to the girl until he arrives!”
Who is the ‘he’ they mentioned? A Vampire from the auction house?
The Alpha walked closer to me and held my chin forcefully, lifting my face, “I will ask him about it. After what I did for him, he must let me use the little she-Wolf! We can have some fun before you are given away. Don’t you want to be with a real man, Sweetheart? Aaron is only a joke, a peacock-pup who thinks he is an Alpha,” Blake flashed me a disgusting smile.
“Go to hell!” I replied through gritted teeth, which earned me a punch in the face. Yet, I couldn’t get over the satisfaction of saying those words. I might die or suffer, but I won’t let anyone silence my voice and treat me like a puppet anymore. I would go down fighting, screaming.
After punching me again, he pulled the hem of my shirt up, looking intently at the place just above my right hip where my birthmark was.
“It really is in the shape of the moon. We definitely got the right bitch!” he chuckled, and his men imitated him like mindless pixie monkeys.
What did he want with my birthmark?
“He is here, Alpha!” one of the men announced and the Alpha smiled, looking at me.
“It’s time to meet your destiny, Sweetheart!”
AngelSoon, a tall man with onyx-coloured eyes, as dark as two abysses, entered the place. My wary eyes inspected him cautiously as I tried to find out who and what he was. He looked normal, except for the grey wick of hair in the middle of his otherwise very dark hair. I’d never seen a werewolf with grey hair before – it wasn’t a thing since our kind doesn’t age. Even without being able to smell his scent, something told me that he wasn’t a regular werewolf. My eyes moved around the room as I heard a strangled gasp; it came from one of the tall and sturdy warriors, he was now pressing his back against the wall like a scared child. What the hell? I looked at the other three elite fighters, and they also seemed really affected by the newcomer’s presence, making way for him swiftly and moving their gazes down as if the man was their Alpha. My brows raised in confusion. I didn’t understand anything. I, too, could feel his heavy and odd energy. But this man wasn’t an Alpha. Even weirder t
ZohraFollowing Beta Roger, I headed to the warehouse. Before entering it, the foul smell of sulphur combined with blood assaulted my nostrils. My hands fidgeted with the hem of my uniform blouse as I sensed something seriously wrong. I didn’t want to partake in whatever that something was, but I had no choice when it came to Alpha Blake’s orders; after all, I was only a rankless wolf and the only working nurse at this time. Alpha Blake wasn’t a good man; to put it simply, he was old school and made sure we — the wolves of his pack — feared and obeyed him.“Why is she taking so long to die?” I heard Alpha Blake’s angry voice.Someone replied to him, not seeming the least affected by his expanding Alpha’s aura, “Do exactly as I said, Blake! I have to leave now, I can’t wait until this girl decides to die!” The male voice was filled with authority, making me wonder who could speak in such a manner to an Alpha, and even worse, to our proud and reckless Alpha.“It’s already done, Elijah!
Grant My fingers twined with hers as I pulled her towards the forest gently, “Slow down, Grant!” she giggled, her voice sweet and filled with joy. As soon as I slowed down, she pulled her hand away from mine and started running. “This is a race now, Grant! And you are about to lose it!” she chuckled, leaving me behind. Sweet Angeline, I could lose anything, but I didn’t want another moment without touching you, having you in my arms. Rushing, I reached her, and in a swift movement, I captured her in my arms. She playfully pushed me between giggles and I covered her smiling face with kisses. “You won, Angeline. Now, I will give you your prize!” I told her, scooping her up in my arms and sitting under the shadow of a large tree with her snuggled into my lap. “What is the prize? I hope it is something good. It’s not every day some rankless female defeats an Alpha!” she laughed, her blue eyes looking so clear under the soft light that filtered down from the gaps in-between the tree
Grant I was sat at the meeting table surrounded by the four Elders and Beta Dexter, yet my thoughts were with Angeline, and my eyes on the clock on the wall. Stormy’s worry and urgency were only growing, and so was mine. Since I agreed to follow my instincts, I could feel it clearly; there was something wrong happening to her. Why I could feel it, I didn’t know. The only connection between “us” was my passion and my dreams, seeing that Angeline didn’t even know I existed. But that didn’t matter, and I had to see to her safety. “This damn meeting is taking too long! We have to go now, Grant!” Stormy growled in my mind, pacing back and forth, completely restless. “What about paragraph eight, page nine, of the directive you wrote on what to plant on the right wing of the pack behind the forest? Explain it to us, Grant,” Elder Sylvio asked, looking between me and the pile of paper he had in his hands. Every little thing I did was the object of a careful inspection. “I researched o
Angel Inhaling deeply, I took in the fresh air of the night. I almost felt alive, but not quite. My legs moved fast towards my destination, and looking behind my shoulder, I saw nurse Zohra walking much slower. It might be risky to roam like this in the middle of the pack, but my scent was concealed and everyone was sleeping deeply. According to Zohra, the morning training only started in two and a half hours. I told Zohra about my idea, and even though she was hesitant at first, she agreed to help me with it – at least partially. Before the first light, we headed to the Alpha’s mansion with matches, lighter and flammable liquid in hand. “You are sure that no Omegas or working staff are in the house, right?” I asked once again. That was the only thing I was nervous about; apart from that, any fear I could have had, seemed to have remained dead when I was reborn. I wouldn’t hurt someone innocent in my quest; from this pack, I only needed the horrible Alpha Blake, his j.erk of a
Grant I looked at the forest from the window of the SUV, wishing that this thing could go faster, even though we were driving as fast as it was safe to. We were in two cars: my Gamma and I in one and a few pack enforcers in the vehicle behind ours. Stormy and I were both growing more restless by the minute, something was definitely happening to Angeline. “Let’s shift and run!” Stormy insisted with a loud growl. I wanted to do what he said, but I had to be cautious not to cause a problem for Angel, my pack or myself. “We can’t just arrive at someone’s pack this way, Stormy. It would raise some kind of suspicion. Alpha Aaron will wonder what the hell we are doing there. Remember, this is a diplomatic visit to discuss the acquisition of wood.” “The only wood you should care about is the one in your pants, Grant!” my wolf barked in annoyance. Every time after dreaming of her, I spent the rest of the day with an almost full e.rection; something that not even my growing worry seemed
Grant Stormy ran at the top of his speed. He was dealing surprisingly well in his condition. Alpha Blake was right, Stormy and I should be weak and barely able to move now due to our deep wounds and the dark magic intoxication. Yet the dark magic didn’t seem to linger in our lungs. Oddly enough, Peter and I were exposed to the same amount of dark smoke, it made him lose consciousness while Stormy and I were fit enough to fight. “I seem to be resistant to the darkness, Grant. Nothing can catch me! I’m unstoppable!” My wolf barked in my mind right before his muzzle collided with a hard and furry wall. Blinking, my unstoppable wolf looked at the beta wolf who had attacked us. Snarling loudly, the Beta launched at Stormy, biting his shoulder, before clawing his side. He was aiming for the neck, since a wound there could be lethal. “That’s why I told you that I should wear a thick leather very-manly scarf while fighting. But you don’t listen to me Grant!” Stormy grumbled in my min
Angel I could hear his heart beating, he was alive. Good! After my death experience, I really didn’t like the idea of staying next to corpses. Covering my nose, I took a step closer. Despite the smell of piss, something in this man called for me. Crouching down carefully, I shook his shoulder, trying to wake him up. “Angeline,” he mumbled without moving his face off the ground. Standing up with a jolt, I jumped back twice, putting distance between me and the butt-naked weirdo. What the hell! How did he know my name? A lump formed in my throat. Was he one of the bad wolves, demons or whatever that was after me? “Angeline, he isn’t a bad guy. Can’t you feel him? Can’t you feel that something in him calls for your soul?” Dora asked softly. “Angey is normal like me, Dora! Her head isn’t lost in outer space and she isn't five years old. The only thing she can feel is how he stinks of pee! This name-calling number can’t mean anything good,” Calypso shook her head in my mind.
Angeline“Angeline,” Dora’s voice had me turning around, and I looked at her in my mind. It was different from when I heard or saw her in our shared mind. I was here with her, only a few steps away.
Angeline“If you want, it would make me very happy to lead this pack by your side. You make me a better man, and a better Alpha Angeline,” he said in my mind, sending the tender dash of his love through our bond.
AngelineI buried my face in the column of Grant’s neck, letting his embrace wash me over with comfort. My nerves are strained, and I have been a little fidgety since I woke up. Maybe everything that happened, the battle, the changes and the bond were catching up with me.
GrantI entered the small white room, closing the door behind me. Gina was curled on her bed, the bags under her eyes and the paleness of her face showing how worn-out she was.
GrantWe arrived at our pack late in the night, heading straight to our room, where I got to sleep with my mate in my embrace. I placed a kiss on Angeline’s head, and she snuggled further into my embrace, a blissful smile stretching across her lips.
AngelineGrant’s canines sank on me, and the time stopped. The moon mark on my belly pulsated like a second heart. Soft blue light enveloped me, filling me with calmness, strength, peace and an ounce of guilt. His love for me pulsated like a warm blanket covering my body and tucking at my chest.
GrantAngeline and I proceeded to check the ruined car. Surveying its surroundings, she found a few pieces of torn clothes.“I can’t find my phone, but it’s not that important. I can always count on Dora’s super-reaching mind-link abilities.” She shrugged her shoulders.Fortunately, the two elite guards who escorted us here weren’t dead, only harmed to the extent of unconsciousness. The king’s army transported them to the Royal Pack where they could receive immediate treatment. They would be fine.I hauled another sign of relief. Losing lives lives of my pack was a fucking bane, a burden I would never bear with ease. And I shouldn’t. Their lives matter and always will. After gazing around the half-burnt trees of the empty meadow, Angeline joined me, melting into my embrace. We were finally alone. The King left after Angeline and I told him about Elijah’s first attack and how Alpha Blake played a role in Angeline's kidnap.“I thought he would be royally enraged, we didn't tell him ever
AngelineSia’s death replayed in Cal’s and our shared mine.“Angel, I think this is dark magic! We will die. I love you, and I am so sorry I wasn’t a good enough wolf to you. I am sorry I couldn’t protect you!” her last words were a distant echo, and so was the icy pain spreading through my soul as I wasn’t able to reply to her. She was already gone. I could never tell her that she was enough and I loved her too.I was so empty without my Sia, my soul unable to reach hers.More words ricocheted in my mind, from the moment I first met Dora, but refused to let go of my first wolf. “Sia is gone. She sacrificed herself in an attempt to save you. Her soul shielded yours, and consequently, she took the hardest hit of Elijah’s dark magic.”Sia sacrificed herself for me!“And I will do it as many times as it takes!” Cal growled, lunging on Elijah.“No!” I screamed in my mind, I couldn’t lose my Cal-Sia again. They were the same wolf, even though they seemed like polar opposites, they always d
AngelineI had to spill it out! After taking a long and deep breath, I started, “Grant, I’m not your friend. We can’t be friends—”He interrupted me with a low growl. “Sorry, I couldn’t control the growl. I know I’m imposing Angeline. I have no right over you and I shouldn’t be here when you told me not to. After we talk to the king, I will be out of your life.” He didn’t do a good job concealing the sorrow in his voice.“No!”Grant’s head reared back, forehead creasing at my protest as he threw me a confused look.I slurred, “I mean … that’s not what I want. I can’t be your friend because it’s too little and I want so much more. I want everything. I-it will be hella hard to look at what I can’t have every day, but I want to support you with your pup, be part of it with you. I want us to have-be a family in the way we can. I love you and in the end I can’t even imagine a life without you. It might be complicated and hard. You probably don’t want that and I’m just here rambling like an
