Logan's POV
I couldn't bear the excitement a fortnight ago when I received the order to return home.
I had always been away from my pack since I had my first shift. But this was the first time I had spent almost a year at once outside of my pack.
My father prided himself in sending me on missions outside the pack's territory. It's safe to say I am a wayfarer.
I saddled my horse into the cold evening with about four guards trailing behind. I was supposed to meet Beta Peter at the borders, my father had promised to send him down.
The troops at the garrison of the new pack which I had helped to build saluted as I galloped away. The pack was still new and a high level of security was needed. It was a time when rogue wolves were running wild. They invaded and destroyed new packs easily.
"Stop!" I ordered the few guards that were with me as we neared the borders. They halted immediately, and I addressed them.
"I will go alone from here. Go back and reinforce the security around your pack," I declared.
One after the other they dismounted from their horses and bowed. Their faces were clad with emotions and I looked away from them.
"We are in a perilous time. The road is dangerous my Prince, we have chosen ourselves to lead you back to Moonlight Pack. We can't watch you go on your own," one of them said with one knee on the ground and one hand on his sword.
"The pack needs you more. My father has sent his Beta with some of his men to lead me home. I will meet them as soon as I cross the border. You should go!" I declared.
"Safe trip, my Prince!" They chorused in unison and mounted their horses. I watched them gallop away before I crossed to the other side.

"Prince Logan! Welcome home!" Beta Peter's voice boomed into the air, he was already waiting with his men.
"It's been almost 8 months, my Prince," he said cheerfully.
"You are good at keeping records," I responded with a dry smile.
"How is the new Pack doing? Beta Peter asked.
"We have no time to waste. The Night is fast approaching. Let's talk when we arrive at the palace."
"Pardon me, my Prince, I was too elated to think straight. It's been almost a year," he said and I nodded.
"Giddy up!" We yelled. Our horses galloped into the night, with the Beta's guards leading the way.
We had just covered a few grounds when the horses receded.
Beta Peter and I, who were riding side by side glanced at each other as the horses came to a halt.
"We are surrounded!" One of the guards exclaimed and we disembarked from the horses immediately.
The woods broke into life as men jumped down from the surrounding trees.
"Rogues!" I snarled.
I moved back slowly until I came in contact with the rest of my men. We stood back to back, in formation. We all retrieved our swords from their sheaths and waited, eyes peering into the darkness.
We didn't wait much. They came at us at once and we were ready for them.
A man rushed at me blindly. With my free hand, I whipped my fist around. His jaw cracked and he went down.
This seemed to have enraged his group as they all charged toward me. Beta Peter and his men retaliated and a fierce battle ensued.
I took a glance to see Beta Peter cut a man in half with one clean swipe. The other guards were holding up pretty well. While I looked around, somebody barrelled into me, tossing me to the ground.
My back barely touched the ground, I leaped back up and dealt my attacker a deadly blow, he went down with a thud.
I sprang to my feet only to behold another rogue swinging a dagger at me. Easily, I parried the blade and caught his hand. I twisted the hand forcefully until I broke his arm, and he went down screaming.
Another rogue charged at me, I rolled away from his kick, stole his momentum, and slammed him to the ground. Whipping out two short knives from my waistband, I made quick slashes and tore out the ankles of another rogue.
I lost focus as I looked around for Beta Peter. When I came around, I ducked a high kick aimed at my head from another rogue, slashing his thighs and stabbing him once in the chest.
"Retreat! Logan! We are outnumbered!" Beta Peter's voice boomed into the air but I wasn't done.
Beta Peter's order distracted me. Someone came at me stealthily from behind and before I could react, I was knocked off by a heavy punch to my temple. I rolled and stood up feeling dizzy.
"Ahhhh!" I groaned in pain as an arrow hit my chest. An excruciating pain sizzled through my body and instantly, I knew that it was a poisoned arrow.
Turning around, I located the one who shot the arrow, he was preparing to take another shot.
Howling in rage, I charged toward him like a deranged dog. I bit into his arm, making his bow fall.
Mustering all my strength, I lifted him and threw him against a huge rock. Blood splattered from his broken skull and his eyes clamped shut.
I staggered around and could hardly stand. I had exerted too much energy and I was out of breath. The venom was slowly circulating through my body, making me weak.
I was losing it. Everywhere was getting darker. My eyelids were getting heavy and I couldn't hold them open.
I fell to the floor and felt myself roll down and over the cliff. My bones cracked and merged and I shifted in mid-air as I fell.
With a heavy thud, my body hit the sharp jutting rocks at the bottom of the cliff, it was a great fall.
The dark sky and the twinkling stars were the last things I saw before I was enveloped in darkness.
Renae's POV My name is Renae Hart. I am the illegitimate daughter of Alex Hart. I have no knowledge about my biological mother and I can't ask either. Any time I asked, my father always beat me up, mercilessly. My stepmother, Lucy, despises me. Not only her, I believe my father hates me too. My existence is a shameful reminder of his reckless youth. Despite my mother's absence, he never showed me fatherly affection. Even though I shared half of his DNA like Alice, my step-sister, he never treated me the same way he treats her. All he wanted was to push me out of his life and he did it. On my twelfth birthday, we had a visitor. I was made to serve him and even as young as I was, I noticed his keen interest in me. The visitor had a discussion with my father behind closed doors and when they were done, I was dragged away by a guard that came with the man. I was dragged down to our pack's hospital where I realized that I had been sold to the traditional medical treatment department
Renae POV It was twilight. Eagerly, I fixed on my sneakers and walked into the cold evening. My hands were tucked into the pockets of my faded jeans while the loop of the hoodie of my hooded sweatshirt was fastened around my neck. Slowly, I walked along the creek that led to my secret hideout in the woods. The earrings June gave me whispered in my ears, tinkling with a clear sound. They were silver metal hoops with a half-moon and a string of stars hanging from them. The two moons on either side could be joined to form one, with the letters R and J engraved on their backs, symbolizing that we are always together. I truly loved my sunshine lady. Finally, I caught the pleasant scent of Wild Lilac. I knew I had reached my secret hideout. The spot has been my refuge over the years. The first time I found it, I was on the brink of death. I had taken a lethal poison made from cobra venom and without the antidote, death was nigh. Was it the scent of the wild lilac? How I survive
Renae's POV The pain of my first shift was still fresh and my body was sore. When I was done, he looked better and his whimpering stopped. He breathed evenly and I was satisfied with the job well done. "It's worth the stress," I muttered and rose to my feet, yarning. Looking at him, I eyed his large body and fur. I was exhausted and cold, so I laid on top of him to sleep. "Hmmm…" I moaned satisfactorily as soon as I pressed into his body. His fur was soft and warm, easing away my tension. I breathed noisily as his strong hazelnut scent wafted into my nose. An unprecedented sense of comfort swept over me, making me feel safe. Slowly, my eyes fluttered and sleep took over me I woke up startled in the middle of the night, I was awakened by a dream. I tried to stretch out my body but I felt restrained. My back was crushed against the hard floor and the soft fur beneath me was gone. "What the heck? Where did he go?" I thought and my eyes fluttered as I became wide awake. I f
Renae's POV It was morning and I had just woken up. Light rays seeped through the cracks in the walls and the small opening of the cave. I stretched out my body and nudged myself out of the arms of the man that was sleeping beside me. His face was bathed in the sun rays, giving him an angelic appearance. I chuckled as I gave him a keen look. I watched the rise and fall of his chest as he slept peacefully. No more whizzing nor whimpering, he was at ease. My eyes roved over his whole length and I realized how tall he must be. He looked sturdy with an appreciable amount of muscles distributed in appropriate parts of his body. Although his eyes were closed, it did not hide his beauty. His jaws were perfectly chiseled to fit his cheeks, giving his face an almond shape. His lips were thin and pink, making me remember the kiss we shared. I blushed and grinned sheepishly. "Dammit! I am late!" I yelled suddenly, breaking my gaze from him. He shifted in his sleep and I blamed myself for
Logan’s POV My eyes fluttered but they didn't open, I seemed to be having a sweet dream. In my dream, there was a faceless girl. She was cuddled on my chest sleeping peacefully. Her body was soft and her scent sent thrills down my loins. Moaning sweetly, I sniffed her scent and pushed her beneath me. I rose on my four limbs and watched her sweetly as I transformed to my human form. My legs buckled and I fell beside her. I shook my head repeatedly as I tried to attain focus, but my vision remained blurry and I couldn't capture her face. Her scent was irresistible and I couldn't have enough of it. Slowly, I nudged myself towards her until I was laying on her. "Beautiful!" Leon, my wolf muttered, wagged his tail. I knew he was also thrilled. My dick pulsated, but I remained on top of her waiting for her to be awake. When she opened her eyes, she seemed like a goddess. I still did not capture her face but I ended up making love to her. Wait, why on earth was I dreaming about this?
Renae's POV The rustling stopped immediately after I had hid myself. I couldn't wait for long, I had to return to school as soon as possible. I looked around carefully and when no one was in sight. I bumped out of my hiding and once again, I was on my way. In no time, I covered the creek and made my way down to my secret spot. I couldn't help but sniffle as the smell of wide lilac wafted into my nose. How I loved the smell. The cave where I had hidden the injured man was just a stone's throw from my secret hideout. I smiled and hastened my footsteps. Just as I was about to approach the cave, I heard a swoosh from behind. I turned around swiftly to behold Jennifer Tower. My eyes thinned into a frown as I looked at her in shock and confusion. She stared at me haughtily, dragging my backpack from me. "What are you doing!?" I yelled as some of the content spilled. Her eyes shone in bewilderment as she realized what they were meant for. "Oh… I see… it was you…see who we've got here
Logan's POV I was almost dozing off when my ears caught the sounds of footsteps. Someone was definitely coming for me and I was alert. I don't know if it was one of my men or an enemy. I pretended to be asleep while I waited. "My Prince…" A feminine voice said and my eyes flung open. I blinked repeatedly as I identified who it was- Jennifer Tower, the Beta's daughter. I must be imagining things, I said to myself, blinking hard. While I was still doubting, she rushed at me and knelt beside me. "Jenny! You're here so fast. I mean… where are the others? Is your father safe? Is he back home? We were attacked yesterday," I asked curiously. "Thank goodness! Thank goodness! You are finally awake!" She yelled in relief, ignoring my questions. Her gaze roved over me and she looked surprised and pleased. My eyes thinned into a frown and I stared at her as I tried to read meaning to her actions. Why is she looking like that… Is she the one? I wondered. "You were unconscious all night!
Renae's POVI scurried into the nearby bushes as l heard a faint rustling. From my hideout, I saw Jennifer. She stepped out of the cave, and right beside her was the guy whom I had treated all night. It turned out that he was Prince Logan, the Alpha's son. Seeing him reminded me of the sex I had with him.He wasn't fit enough to walk on his own. He draped his arm across Jennifer's shoulders and held her hand with his free hand.I bit my lower lips as I watched them leave hand in hand. That was supposed to be my spot! I saved him… We had something, I thought, biting down my lips harder until I tasted salt.Just like Logan heard me. He stopped in his tracks, he looked around frantically, like he was searching for something. "Yes, it is me. I am here!" I yelled in my head brokenly and held my breath. He must not find out."What is it?" Jennifer asked and sneaked a peek in the direction that Logan was scanning."It's nothing," Logan said and Jennifer nudged him forward. When they were o
Logan's POVI didn't mourn Jennifer's death but a deep sense of sadness fell over me. Perhaps, she meant something to me after all. Memories of the time we spent together as children flooded my mind every day, leaving me sick and sad.Her delusion and greed were her doom. Yes, we were playmates and we were friends because her father was my father's Beta. But that was all. I never saw her as a lover and I never made such inclinations towards her. Thinking back now, I realized that there were signs that she had fallen for me, she did not hide it, but I was too busy and insensitive to take notice.I was always away from the Packhouse and when I returned, I hardly saw her.Flashes of the moment she walked into the cave where Renae saved me, posing as my savior flooded my sight. I shut my eyes as I remembered how I tried to love her despite having feelings for the small doctor.Sometimes we determine our fate and sometimes what will be will be irrespective of our determination. It all de
Logan's POVI lost communication with almost everyone as we sped back to the palace. I mind-linked my mother, Lian and Renae but they didn't respond. Tera, my guard didn't respond either. Fear gripped my heart and like a lunatic, I tore through the wild leaving my men behind.I broke into the palace and I saw the ruins. The first place on my mind was my mother's chambers. My men had caught up with me and they sprinted behind me.A small group of people came into view as I got closer to my mother's chambers. Drawing nearer, I realized that it was Jennifer and her men.I didn't know if she was just going in or if she was done with my family already. Her sword was bloody and I fretted.Hatred and disdain shone in her eyes as she saw me. She snarled and at the swipe of her hand, a few of her men charged into my mother's chambers while she led the remaining men towards us.Now, I had my answer, she sent her men in because she hadn't dealt with those inside. With renewed spirits, I gave
Logan's POV At this point, I could only pray that things worked out as planned and nothing would boomerang on us. After hearing from Lian, I realized that my plan just failed woefully. I should have seen into Jennifer's mind. But who knew what the psychopath was planning? All my focus was on saving Renae and our pups. I should have known that Jennifer wouldn't just go all the way out to attack only Renae. Since I knew that she had a grander plan, I should have seen it happening. Well, I am out here and I can't be there either. I just have to trust my men. I was glad that I left Tera back at the palace. He wanted to come help me out here but I told him to stay back. "Tera, listen and listen carefully. The palace has been infiltrated…" I mind-linked him and told him the situation. I gave him the order to act as he deemed fit. When he told me that Alpha Noel was around, I felt at ease. I knew there wouldn't be any problem and I could concentrate on the deal before me out here. The
Jennifer's POVI sat in my facade waiting for the best news ever. I pushed the small table in front of me out of the way and rose to my feet to make my declarations."Tonight, the cup of their sins is full and I, Jennifer Tower, will avenge the blood of my father and his men on the royal family of the Moonlight Pack. I will destroy the royal family and even in death, Logan will realize the anger of a woman deprived of her love!" Of course no one could see me and one one cared to listen but it was a matter of time, tonight! I sipped from the whiskey in my hand before pouring libation to the death. Those that were long gone and those who were surely going to die tonight.I resumed my seat, waiting for the news. Then Renae came to my heart. Oh! Poor Renae.I knew Renae was obedient and easy going but her virtues won't help her this time. She had later sent a letter to me telling me that she was leaving the pack with her pups just like I had ordered.Good! Good! Good! It was a nice move
June's POVRenae had been sleeping all day long. If she hadn't resolved her issue with Alpha Logan I would have thought she was sleeping because of her anxiety.I was glad when she told me that she had told Logan about Jennifer's threat. I felt a huge lump fall off my neck. When Alpha Logan summoned me the previous day, I was too overwhelmed to talk. Moreover, I always like to respect Renae's opinion. Although in this case I knew that delay might be dangerous, I still waited for her and I was glad that she did the right thing. She told Logan and she even devised a means to outsmart Jennifer.Logan accepted her plans but felt it was too risky. He was all lovey dovey, saying he couldn't risk the life of his mate. After much thought he came up with another plan that seemed less risky. We were at the Queen mother's chambers with about three maids. All other maids were locked out and no one knew that we were there except those of us that were inside. We were all grounded at the Queen moth
Lian's POV I was sitting in front of my chambers thinking about everything that had happened recently. Renae's return was indeed a blessing, but it had made Jennifer bring out her claws. I had decided to spend more time in my chambers than at Renae's or mother's chambers. My chambers gave me a better view of Jennifer's chambers. I had men who were watching over her, but I felt better spying on her too. I need a break tonight. I would go on my hunting trip. And I just have a feeling that it would be a big one. I was going to catch a big game. "Targon, prepare my full hunting gear, we are going to the hunting range tonight," I said to my guard. "You mean we? Am I going with you?" Targon asked. "Yes, tonight," "On it, my princess," Targon said and vanished out of sight. What a good boy he had been. I lay down on the sofa on my porch, trying to catch some sleep before the night fell. I had hardly closed my eyes when my guards announced. "Alpha Noel has arrived!" "Alpha Noel!? Oh
Logan's POV I sat in my office with a heavy heart. Last night, Lian told me about the strange man she encountered in the palace who was disguised as one of the soldiers. The alarming part was that he varnished around Jennifer's chambers. This just confirmed my assertions about strange men visiting Jennifer's chambers in disguise. Last night, Renae didn't sleep well. Her sleep was riotous, she tossed her body here and there, muttering in her sleep. Her murmurings were deep reflections on how she met me by chance and fell in love with me. I couldn't help but smile. The other part was scary. They were reflections on what transpired between her and Jennifer at Eden's grave. My knuckles turned white and I held her in my arms all through the night. Jennifer was a piece of trash to me. It takes me nothing to chop off her head. But I need a reason big enough to justify such action, otherwise I might live with the guilt for the rest of my life. I needed to catch her red-handed. But she
Logan's POV I left my office later than expected. I had some files to deal with and other unexpected functions came up too. After dealing with them, I got down to the training ground to see my men. They had retired to refresh and after that, another round of training would come up. Seeing that all was going on as expected, I made my way down to my mother's chambers, Renae on my mind all the way. The guards announced my presence as I appeared and without wasting time, I burst in. "Why are you just coming now?" Lian questioned. She was hanging around the porch, possibly waiting for me. I ignored her and walked in. I met my mother standing by the window. She was pacing to and fro and I knew she was also waiting for me. "Good day, mother," I greeted and bowed. "It's a good day indeed, son." Mother gave me a demeaning look and walked away. June was not around either so I asked a maid to show me the room where Renae was staying. She wasn't in the room where I met them during the
Lian's POV "You worry too much, Renae. You were all over the place this morning… who knew this was… You almost lost it. You should be more careful henceforth," June reprimanded Renae and I stepped on her toes as I conjured words to lighten the mood. Renae wasn't looking happy about the news. "Those little soldiers are way too big for me. I can't wait to hold a tiny version of myself, cuddling and rocking them," I said as I held Renae's pale hands. "Congratulations Renae. Thank you for bringing goodness to the life of my son," My mother said with a smiling face. "Thank you, Mother," Renae replied to Mother and looked around for her husband. The royal physician had Just confirmed that Renae was a few weeks gone. She had fainted when she was on her way back from the Law School. At first, we thought it was just exhaustion, but when the royal physician examined her he confirmed that she was pregnant. My mother summoned Logan immediately, and when he came over we broke the news to hi
