Chapter 97 - Beau Monde

I stand in front of a full-length mirror, but all I see is a reflection of a stranger clad in a shimmering evening gown with her hair swept up into an elegant chignon.

Scarlet moves behind me like a phantom, adjusting the fine strands of jewelry around my neck. The cool jewels feel like chains that suffocate me.

“Remember to hold your head high, shoulders back and always make eye contact,” she instructs, and I wonder how often did she attend these kinds of events before.

“There’s my pretty wife,” Liam comments. He enters the room and smiles at me. “Andy’s asleep,” he adds.

I nod. Since Lukas has classes, we hired a nanny for tonight—albeit Lukas’ annoyance. He seems to not want any third party taking care of his stepsister. He is even planning to get work or build businesses close to our home.
