Ryan approached the mother and daughter, standing before them. Yet, Silvia decided to look away and ignore the man entirely.

Having been ignored, Ryan had no choice but to turn to Autumn instead, bending down as he asked, "I heard you were sick. How are you feeling now?"

The little one hid behind her mother shyly when she heard him expressing concern towards her. She nodded gently, replying, "I feel better now. I took my medicine every day."

"Good," Ryan continued. "Didn't I promise to take you to Disneyland a while ago? Papa has some free time now, so how about we take a little vacation for a few days?"

Autumn's eyes instantly lit up like the beautiful night sky, just like how her mother once used to smile, turning into adorable little crescents.

For a moment, Ryan was slightly dazed as he continued staring into those eyes.

Yet, the little girl's initial excitement was soon replaced with doubt. "You're not lying to me, are you Papa?"

He had never played with her throughout her entire life, so it was only natural for her to be suspicious of him.

On the other hand, Silvia couldn't remain silent any longer. She sounded displeased as she interrupted their conversation. "When did you promise to take her to Disneyland?"

He had hardly ever spent time with her, despite their daughter already being three years old. Sometimes, they would go to the playground together, only for him to leave the moment he received a call from work.

At first, Silvia truly did believe that he was a busy man. Now that she thought about it, he was most likely deliberately trying to find an excuse to leave them as he didn't really want to accompany them.

She thought to herself, 'We're getting a divorce soon, and here he is, trying to take Autumn to Disneyland?'

'Even if he wants to salvage his image in his daughter's heart, he doesn't have to go to such extremes, right?'

Knowing that he had no experience with children, she realized she would have to follow them on the trip for her daughter's sake. However, she didn't want to see this man at all, let alone travel with him.

Facing her aggressive questioning, Ryan huffed, "I had no choice. You didn't come home that night, and she just wouldn't stop crying. I had to calm her down somehow."

Silvia was speechless for a moment. Although her daughter was well-behaved, she was still a child at the end of the day. She knew just how torturous a child's tantrum could be, so she had nothing against Ryan using Disneyland as a means of comfort.

However, she managed to come up with a great reason to reject his offer. "She just recovered from gastroenteritis, so she shouldn't travel around so hastily. It's best if you cancel the trip."

"Mama! Mama!"

The moment Silvia replied, the little girl next to her whined in protest, puffing up her cheeks in dissatisfaction. Yet Silvia responded with mere silence.

"It's no rush, we can wait for her to recover fully."

For some reason, Ryan was still amiable despite her refusal to join. Silvia felt like he was intentionally trying to anger her.

Refusing to pay any more attention to him, Silvia decided it was high time she left. "Is there anything else you'd like to say? If not, do excuse us. We have to get groceries."

"Hmph!"

The little one huffed out loud as she realized her trip to Disneyland was about to be canceled, taking her anger out on the flowers nearby. With her arms crossed, she glared at the grass beneath her feet, pouting her lips as well.

Silvia was furious seeing her child like this, her expression darkened. "Autumn!"

Considering Autumn had just recovered from her sickness, Silvia normally would’ve given in to her if this was any other matter. However, the trip to Disneyland was something she simply resented, as she would have to interact with Ryan if she went.

'I'd rather she throw a tantrum over anything else but this!'

'We're going to get a divorce anyway! What is he thinking? Does he really think it's appropriate for us to take Autumn to Disneyland now, of all times?'

A certain someone seemed to be shameless enough to play the good guy this time round. As Ryan carried Autumn into his arms, he managed to successfully calm her down with just one sentence.

Silvia was even more enraged, even though the little girl stopped throwing a fit.

That was because of the sentence he used to console the little one. He said, "She doesn't have a say in this."

Silvia was so angry that she was starting to laugh. 'Yeah! I really don't, do I?'

He had always acted as if he was better than everyone else and never respected her once, even when she was his wife. He viewed her as a mere accessory; especially since she never tried expressing her opinions to him during their entire marriage.

'Apart from Ophelia, I guess the only other person who had a say in his life is none other than Mariah Sommers!'

Not wishing to continue this any longer, she turned to look at her daughter, who was still in his arms. Her tone sounded extremely chilling. "Autumn, Aunt Rosa’s coming home soon. She has an early shift today, remember? We have to get groceries and cook dinner soon, so do you really want to stay here?"

Before the little girl could respond, Ryan spoke up for her instead. "Why are you lashing out on her?"

This made Silvia even more enraged, yelling back at him. "When have I ever lashed out on her? Did you see me doing that?"

The man raised an eyebrow and questioned. "Why do you look so stern? What's with your expression?"

Moreover, it was obvious from her tone that she was threatening Autumn to leave with her.

Silvia scoffed. "I thought the renowned Mr. Pierce could read body language well, especially when you had been in the business field for so long. Alas, how disappointing."

Hearing this, Ryan's expression turned cold, realizing that she was indirectly insulting him.

His complaint regarding her temper made her insult his ability to read the room, indicating that she wasn't furious with her daughter at all. In fact, she was merely angry because of him, and him alone.

'This woman… Her sharp tongue’s getting on my nerves!'

Ryan felt that she had completely changed ever since she announced their divorce that night.

Back then, he would consider her as a capable wife. Now, in his point of view, she was close to becoming a madwoman.

Holding their daughter tightly, Ryan gritted his teeth. "Mom misses her, so I'm taking Autumn to have dinner with her tonight."

Ryan wasn't quite lying, since Ophelia did ask him to bring Autumn to have dinner together some time.

Silvia was actually quite close with Ophelia, and she knew how much the latter loved Autumn. It was only natural she would miss the little one after having been separated for a few days.

Silvia actually got along with the Pierce family well; with the sole exception of Ryan.

In fact, it wasn't that she had a bad relationship with Ryan. Rather, their relationship was utterly bland. Neither of them could experience the joy of marriage with how peacefully they interacted with each other, let alone the blessings that stem from love.

Some would say that marriage was supposed to feel this way, that it was similar to the calm and gentle flow of a river. However, they had to admit that there wasn't even a flow in their marriage; it was simply stagnant water.

Hearing Ophelia's wishes to see Autumn, Silvia didn't protest any further. Her mother-in-law did genuinely love her daughter with her whole heart, and they were especially close with each other.

When Autumn was born, Ophelia was the one who helped Silvia when she was extremely flustered, considering that she was a first-time parent after all.

Besides that, Ophelia must be feeling extremely unhappy about her divorce despite her calm front.

'Maybe seeing Autumn could cheer her up.'

Hence, Silvia decided to put her negative emotions aside, and advised her daughter one last time before they left.

The secretary sounded quite conflicted, and told Silvia that she needed to request permission from Ryan to reveal such information. With this, Silvia hung up on them with gritted teeth. For a while, the secretary was unreachable as well, and Silvia decided to wait till it was evening to make another call to them. This time round, the secretary finally gave her a small piece of information, telling her that Ryan was at a cafe to meet with a client at the time. If Silvia wanted to look for him, the secretary advised Silvia to go there first. She even gave Silvia the name of the cafe.Without any hesitation, Silvia took a cab and headed straight to the cafe with her bags. The moment she stepped into the cafe, she heard a familiar melody sounding through the area.Something always brings me back to you,It never takes too long,No matter what I say or do,I'll still feel you here 'till the moment I'm gone,You hold me without touch,You keep me without chains,I never wanted anyth

Even when she had decided to file for divorce, she never felt any hatred towards him.Yet, she couldn't describe just how much she hated him at this very moment. She hated him for using the divorce against her, just to torment and humiliate her. Turning away, she ignored his annoyed expression and dashed out of the cafe without looking back at all. She knew he was just doing all this to make her give up on divorcing him. She was aware he just wanted her to know that she was no match for him, and that she should surrender while she still could. She knew how much he loved control, and that he was trying his best to save his ego after she announced their divorce in front of others. However, Silvia refused to give in to his demands.'Fine. If I can't find a lawyer who will help me, I'll just separate with him for now. Doesn't the law allow a divorce as long as you've lived apart for two years?'On the other hand, the drenched Ryan was at first shocked by her actions; soon, it

Ryan, however, was able to take the can back with ease. He shot her a cold glance. "I wonder who made you this way? You're so spoiled."Rather offended by his insults, Nora quickly responded, "Oh, you're calling me spoiled? Why don't you look at yourself? Silv definitely spoiled you way too much for your own good!"The sudden mention of Silvia made Ryan's expression darken once more, especially when Nora mentioned Silvia spoiling him. The air suddenly felt rather thick, as everyone in the room knew that she was currently trying to divorce him.Nora stuck her tongue out and escaped back into her room.On the other hand, Ryan sat down on the couch, downing the can of beer in his hands in one go.Ophelia glanced at him and sat down as well, asking nonchalantly, "Did you see Silvia today?""Mhm," Ryan responded dismissively, getting up to get another can of beer from the fridge.Seeing her son's current expression, Ophelia couldn't help but sigh. She knew her son's personality be

Nora didn't see Silvia as just her sister-in-law. She viewed Silvia as a close friend, and would tell Silvia secrets she normally wouldn't talk to others about.Silvia felt rather close to Nora as well. As an only child, she genuinely loved and cared for Nora, and treated the latter like her actual sister after she married into the Pierce family.Hence, it was hard for Silvia to not feel sad after hearing Nora's question. She comforted the young girl gently, saying, "As long as you're okay with it, I’ll always be your sister and a good friend to you."Nora choked on her tears, unable to say anything further. In the end, Silvia sighed and bid her goodbyes before hanging up. She was also quite worried she might start crying after hearing Nora's sobs.Silvia found the whole situation ironic, seeing just how upset Nora was about their separation. It was absurd that the man she had spent five years with didn't seem to be affected at all.Every single member of the Pierce family was f

Ophelia was merely trying to help her son defuse the situation. Instead, it only seemed to make Silvia more annoyed about the incident. All of a sudden, Silvia’s tone turned frosty."But what does her weak body have to do with him? Who is he to her? Why is he the one to take her to the hospital in the middle of the night?""Does she not have anyone else aside from him?""Where are her parents? Her friends?"Silvia's questioning left Ophelia silent. In the end, Ophelia could only shake her head helplessly, sighing once more. As a woman, she understood Silvia's rage completely. It was extremely hurtful for the wife to see her husband remain in an ambiguous relationship with another woman. In the end, Ophelia couldn't bring herself to persuade Silvia any further, especially knowing that it wouldn't change Silvia’s mind in the slightest. She decided to talk about Autumn instead, and they were finally able to bond over coffee with this new change in topic. After they were finished w

Silvia couldn't bring herself to refuse upon seeing her daughter's current expression.Yet as she remained silent, Ryan took the chance to speak up. "I've booked plane tickets for the three of us."He glanced at her, not letting her answer as he continued speaking nonchalantly. "If you don't want to go, it'll just be me and Autumn."Silvia was furious, her chest suffocating as she thought to herself. 'He sure knows how to target my weaknesses. He knows I can't possibly be fine with him taking Autumn on a trip alone!''Not to mention, he had never personally taken care of her during the past three years. He'd be a mess! And Autumn had only recovered from her gastroenteritis not long ago!'That was more than enough reasons to not allow him to travel alone with their daughter. She held her cell phone and said hurriedly, “I’ll go down right now.”She ended the call and hurriedly put on her down jacket. She was wearing warm and soft polar fleece home clothes. She did not have time to change, so she simply put on a down jacket and went out. She opened the door and walked out stealthily, out of fear that she would wake Helena up, and Helena would find out that she was going down to meet Rowan in the middle of the night. Helena would surely think that this kind of behavior was inappropriate. When passing by the living room, Evelyn glanced in the direction of Helena’s bedroom. The lights had been turned off, so she was probably asleep. Helena’s physical condition was not as good as it was before the surgery. After all, she was getting older and had undergone craniotomy, which was a major surgery, so she could not keep up mentally and physically. She would go to bed very early at night and wake up late in the morning. After Evelyn left the house quietly, sh

She laughed loudly when she was happy, shed tears when she was sad, never hid her true self, and was a frank and sincere person. Why wouldn’t men like such a girl?Rowan laughed. He did not mean to slander Selena; he was simply analyzing Selena’s current situation from his perspective as a man. Selena might indeed be a good girl in Evelyn’s eyes. After all, Evelyn was a woman who only cared about Selena’s personality, but men paid more attention to a woman’s temperament and charm sometimes. Everyone naturally had their own preferences. For example, Rowan preferred someone simple like Evelyn, whereas some men might prefer someone with a stronger personality like Selena. Evelyn had to call Charles after she could not reach Selena. “Charles, is Selena home? I can’t seem to reach her on her cell phone.”Charles frowned when he heard Evelyn’s words. “She’s not back yet. He was wrong. He was really wrong. He treated the person he wanted to protect so coldly and harshly. It seemed that he had not been in a relationship for too long that he had forgotten how to love. Fortunately, it only took him this once to understand the crux of his problem. Therefore, he stroked her cheek gently and reassured her in a deep voice, “It won’t happen again.”Evelyn chose to smile slightly in relief in response to his apology and assurance. When two people are together, they need to understand and accommodate each other in terms of personality, temperament, and living habits. Since they had only officially been together for a day, this was even more essential for them. As he said, he was an ordinary man, and she was an ordinary woman. Their relationship was that of an ordinary couple, so it was normal for them to quarrel, have disagreements, and lose their temper. “Getting dinner!” Rowan announced angrily, then he placed her in the passenger seat, got into the car, and drove away. Evelyn had no other objections since they were going to eat. Anyway, she had already called Helena earlier to tell her that she would not be going back for dinner tonight as she would be having dinner with Selena. Not long after the two had gotten into the car and driven out, Selena called and asked Evelyn worriedly, “Evelyn, how did it go? Did you manage to coax him yet?”As Rowan was sitting next to her, Evelyn could not answer whether she had managed to coax him. Therefore, she hesitated without saying anything. When Selena heard this, she knew that they must not have reconciled yet, so she gave her advice on the other end of the line. “It’s fine. There’s no man that can’t be coaxed. Just one kiss will do. If he still can’t be coaxed, give him two kisses. If that doesn’t work, just kiss him all over until he’s no longer angry!”Selena’s voice was loud enough,
