CHAPTER 83: MISSING ZUHRA

KATIE’S POV

"The order's ready," Tanya, the girl who stood by the counter, said to me, handing me a tray. I picked it up, eyes glazing over the contents. A saucer with a Mexican dried chicken torta and another plate filled with beans and cheese taquitos. Two cups filled with wine. Quite the ideal lunch if you asked me. They looked delicious.

The variety of traditional food served at Vee's kitchen was something this eatery was well known for, and lately, she had added a few more Mexican dishes to the menu. Of course, that attracted more people here, increasing the workload nicely.

Our primary customers were tourists just passing by the museum few streets away, and I was guessing the two men sitting at the table I was headed for were part of that category. No one dressed so snugly during this period in Raleigh, not unless they believed the cold weather everyone assumed only existed here. It had been a while since the rain fell, too.
