_Chase’s POV_

I paced back and forth in my office, my mind racing with every possible scenario. Four agonizing days had passed since Elodie's disappearance, and the silence was suffocating.

I hadn’t slept a wink. I hadn’t had a morsel of food go down my throat. I couldn’t do anything. I was consumed by thoughts of my girl.

I was losing my damn mind not being able to find her or do anything, and I had never felt as worthless as I did at that moment.

My office, once a sanctuary, now felt like a prison. The walls seemed to close in on me, the shadows cast by the flickering lamps twisting into menacing shapes. Every tick of the clock was a reminder that time was slipping away, that Elodie's trail was growing colder by the minute.

I roughly undid my tie, tossing it to the side as if that was the root cause of all of my problems.
