He must have thought that I enjoyed it and that is the reason I didn’t reveal who I am to him. While in his car, driven by his driver, I wasn’t comfortable, because we were not in that relationship for this and his driver seemed to be stealing glances at me.
“I would love it if you stop staring at me and concentrate on driving, to avoid an accident.” I said, trying not to sound harsh or frustrated.
“I’m sorry, ma’am. I’m just curious. For my boss not to be going home with you, did you offend him? My boss doesn’t get angry, easily. It would be best if you tread on paths, carefully, when it comes to him.” His driver said as he took his eyes off me.
“You are rude. One more word from you and I will leave this car.” I said, with gritted teeth.
“I’m sorry, ma’am.”
The driver probably knew that his job would be on the line if I left angrily, because it was certain that Blaze was going to get to the root of the matter and find him at fault. Such a nosy driver.
Then my phone rang and I opened my purse to see who it was. It was my agent, Paul. He must have heard of the news and tried to reach out to be sure that I am okay.
“Hey, Caramel. I heard on the news about Blaze, shot. He was around Gran-jele and you were around there. I hope you didn’t encounter any issue?” he asked, with concern, heard in his voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine, actually. Although, he got shot, while trying to save me from a few men who wanted to get their hands on my body.” I said, trying to let him be assured that I was fine.
“Oh, jeez. I should have gone with you. I’m actually near Gran-jele. Where exactly are you? So, I can take you home.” He said, still with worry, obvious in his voice.
“You do not need to. I’m already near my home.” I said and chuckled slightly, just so his mind can be at rest that I am fine.
I didn’t want him to know that Blaze’s driver was taking me home. That didn’t seem professional to me and anything unprofessional, I was going to let go of, tonight and tomorrow was going to be a fresh beginning.
“Alright. I am sorry I wasn’t there. I’ll see you tomorrow, during your break, at work. For lunch. Agree to that?”
“Yes, I agree to that.”
I was delighted to have lunch with him, but I have already decided that I wouldn’t let it get into my head as I couldn’t allow anything to make what was between us, become unprofessional.
In less than ten minutes, I was back home and I thanked the driver, regardless of how he wanted to frustrate me with his ignorance.
“Caramel!” Lucas hugged me as I entered into the house.
“Oh, brother. Seems you are in such a happy mood to see me, tonight. Spill it!” I said, with a smile as I dropped my purse and sank into the couch.
“Well, I have checked you out and seen that you are fine. So, I’ll get straight to the point. Where is the autograph I asked you to get from Blaze?” He asked, impatiently as he reached his hand out to me.
“Oh, goodness. So, it’s blaze you are after?” I teased, trying to sound jealous.
“Oh, come on. Do not act coy.” He said, closing one of his eyes and reaching his hand out to me the more.
Then I sat up and sat him down.
“Look, I couldn’t get his autograph and I am not certain I would be able to get it, because I am working for Blaze. I am his new coach and it would be absurd for me to ask him for his autograph. That doesn’t look too good, neither does it sound professional.” I said, trying to make him understand me.
“Whoa! You are working for Blaze?” He said, looking at me, excitedly.
“Yes. You are happy about that?”
“Of course. That you are working for a famous tennis player makes me happy. I am certain you’ll be earning big.”
“And I’ll be able to sponsor your education as I ought to.” I said, with a smile as I ruffled his hair.
He was happy and I was glad to see him jump around. Because of him, I wanted to make sure that I got good jobs, to be able to provide all that he needed. Afterall, he was my responsibility and he counted on only me.
That night, I went to my bedroom, thinking about how I met Blaze. That was so not a good first impression I gave as his new coach and it was so not the way I wanted to meet him, at first. Well, I had no choice than to get it off my mind.
I was about to lay down to sleep, when I got a call. Surprisingly, it was Nate, Blaze’s manager. I wondered why he had called me at this time.
“Hi, Miss Caramel. Can we talk a bit, outside? I know it is unprofessional to see me at this time, but if we do not talk now, I am not certain of another opportunity to say this.” He said, over the phone.
It must have probably been a serious issue, for him to have wanted us to see each other, face-to-face. Before I went outside, I went to Lucas’ room to check if he was fast asleep already and he was, making it easier for me to leave, without any delay.
I made sure to lock the door and then walked down to the river bank which wasn’t far from my house. Mr. Nate was there, already, with his back, faced to me.
“Hello, Mr. Nate.” I said, with a smile as I walked up to him.
He turned to me and returned my smile, pleasantly. It made me feel a bit relieved that he wasn’t calling me out to scold me or something else.
“I hope you aren’t annoyed that I called you out at this time, when you should be having your rest, especially that you must have been startled by the gunshot which was directed, unintentionally at Mr. Nightingale.” He said, with a slight smile.
“I’m glad I am okay. I hope Mr. Nightingale got home, safely?” I asked, to show that I was concerned about his health.
“Yes, he is. Thanks for your concern.”
Silence reigned between us and it was becoming awkward because he had called me out for an important conversation and it was only weird to keep quiet, right now.
“Alright, Miss Caramel, I do not know how to put this in a way that you won’t feel like I am placing you on restrictions and all, but I want you to see it as a reminder.” He said, looking at me like he was really trying his best not to say the wrong words.
“I’m all ears and will understand you.” I said, trying to assure him, so he would feel free to speak.
Although, I understood that he had respect for me as I was also a big deal, myself, but it seemed to him that he had to make some things clear.
“I would want you to keep things with Mr. Nightingale, strictly professional. Whatever past you both have had, now that you are his coach, I would love it if you keep everything professional. No matter how he tries to relate with you, especially because I know he is a free person, please try your best to keep it professional. He needs to win this championship as he has always been talking about it.”
It was obvious that Mr. Nate was concerned about him and I was glad about that.
“Well, I understand what you are trying to tell me, Mr. Nate. And I can tell you, I have nothing aside work between Mr. Nightingale and I. I am such a person who doesn’t like when things get unprofessional between I and the people I coach or work with. If you have checked my papers and history, you wouldn’t hear of a scandal between those I work with and i.” I said, confidently, and with pride.
“I know, and I hope I have not offended you with what I have said.”
“No, it’s fine. As his manager, you have to make sure things do not go wrong, so I totally understand you.”
We parted after making sure that things were cool with us and to be honest, I didn’t feel bad, I only felt slightly offended that I was not trusted wholly. I got to the house and found the entrance door, wide open.
“Lucas.” I muttered under my breath, with fear growing inside of me.
.
I looked from Stephanie to my Father and felt a little anger rising. "Blaze." My Father called rising to his feet and staring at me like he couldn't imagine he was really seeing me."So, I take it, she's your new wife?" I asked and he looked at Stephanie and nodded.Stephanie rose to her feet looking at me with a smile. To my father, it probably looked like she was trying to look nice but I knew what that smile meant. It was a smile of recognition. She probably felt it was interesting to find out I was her husband's son."Stephanie, meet Blaze, my son. Blaze meet Stephanie." He said but I didn't need that introduction, not because I already knew Stephanie but because I couldn't take my anger anymore. What was he doing here? After all these years? Because I was famous? He didn't know what he was in for."Stephanie, right. She's the lady you left mom for. She was so worth it that you made a child fatherless, she was so pretty that you gave your family sleepless nights. She was so good
I was filled with horror as I wondered why the door was left open. I rushed inside to check on Lucas and with relief, washing through my body, he was sleeping soundly. Then I must have not locked the door as I ought to, since my mind was on what Mr. Nate had to say. I gave myself a knock on my head, because that was a mistake which could end up costing a life. And I wouldn’t be able to bear Lucas, missing. He was one of the reasons I stayed alive when everything was rough for me.Then I went back to my room, had a shower and then slept off immediately I got to the bed. I must have been really stressed and the water which calmed my tensed bones had helped me to sleep soundly. The next day, I woke up, ready to take on the day and prove to Blaze, how professional I can be and I wasn’t going to allow him, sweep me off my feet. There was no time for such.I got ready and then went to the sitting room and met my brother, watching TV while he got ready for school.“You are aware that this i
We looked at the door with her eyes still open wide. Then I regained my composure and sat up. The footsteps didn't stop, they only got louder and I looked at Stephanie who's mouth was slightly open as she looked at me. "Under the bed." I said because that was what she should have done the moment she heard the footsteps instead of staring at me. Then I heard a knock as Stephanie swung her feet down from the bed. I immediately put on my trousers and wiped off the sweat that had formed on my face and body. I watched as Stephanie went underneath the bed completely then went to the door. The knock came again and I opened it. It was my mother. "Blaze. Are you okay?" She asked in concern. "I'm fine Mum, just... Just tell him to get out. Tell him to leave. I don't want to see him tomorrow morning." I said and she sighed. "Blaze. I know you're very angry and frustrated but you should hear him out. He's still your father." She said looking at me with her troubled eyes. "I already did t
Mr. Nate was glad to hear that I had changed my mind."So, it would be nice if we give him a heads up, tonight. Not like I am in a hurry, or sort, but it is best, this way." "I understand. I'll be expecting his reply from you, then.""Yeah, I'll call him right now."A few minutes later, Mr. Nate's call came in and I wondered what could have been Blaze's reply."Well, I have been trying to reach him, but he is not picking up. Maybe tomorrow, we'll sort this out.""Uhm... Can you send me the address, at least?" I asked, hoping to get a view of the house I'll be staying at, with him."Oh, sure!"Not long after we ended the call, I got a text from him and I checked the text. It was Blaze's address. I got up and then went out, heading towards the street, which was a bit far from mine.As I got to Blaze's street, I began to check the house number, but I didn't need to do that for long as I saw Blaze, coming out of the mansion and then he entered his car. He looked angry and i was curious a
BLAZE It felt so nice, seeing the shocked face on my father and his whore, whom he called a wife. “What do you mean? Live in your house? Is she your girlfriend?” My father asked, out of curiosity.“That is none of your business, old man. Tomorrow morning, I want you out of here, or, I will do the unspeakable.” I threatened, with an angry expression. Then I turned to Caramel.“So, I’ll be expecting you, tomorrow.” I said, with a smile on my face and escorted her out.“What just happened in there?” She asked, with curiosity and concern, written all over her face.“Well, I thought you were my coach. My personal life shouldn’t be discussed, isn’t it?”“Of course, until you dragged me into it. Shouldn’t I understand a little of what happened, back there? What if I was confronted, outside?” She asked, looking really concerned.“Then you can tell him who you are to me. But this night, I demanded that you shouldn’t speak a word. Want me to drop you off, or you will ta
CARAMELImmediately I got home, I sat down with my brother, Lucas, to discuss my plans to move in with Blaze. “So, what’s the reason you woke me up for?” He asked me as he rubbed his eyes and then yawned.“Well, I have something to say.”“Which is?” he said, impatiently.“I’ll be moving to Blaze’s house, to coach him until he wins his third championship.” I said, hoping he was going to be fine with it.“Whoa! You mean Blaze Nightingale?” Lucas held a look of surprise as I told him that I would be living with Blaze as his tennis coach until he wins the championship and it made me feel relieved that he could actually not mind that.He had always been supportive of my dreams, and he understood my passion for coaching, when I wasn’t able to become a tennis player, myself. “Yes.” I responded, with a smile.“Whoa! That’s cool. There’s no problem with that! This is just the beginning of a good life. I assure you, I will take good care of myself. Just focus on helpin
BLAZEIt was such a nice time, training with Caramel and I could tell that she was a good coach. It wasn’t going to be bad if I got down with a coach as good as her.“You’re bleeding.” She said, with her eyes, almost bulging out of her socket.“Oh, jeez. I must have overworked that part.” I said as I stood up.“Alright, I think you have to call your home doctor. I am not certain that you have called him, since then.”“Been busy.” He said as he picked up his phone. “But now, I’m doing that. Your wish is my command.” I winked at her.Women always fell for my winks, and I was certain that her heart must have been wavering at that moment. I called my home doctor and in about fifteen minutes, he had arrived. As I sat down with my home doctor, he examined the stab wound on my abdomen, checking for any signs of infection or swelling. To my relief, he declared that it was healing well and that I could resume my training, but not the intense kind.“But I will advise that
CARAMELI couldn't believe what was happening, right now as it was hard to snap out of the shock. As Blaze's car skidded to a halt, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. A moment ago, I was reminiscing the fun time I had. But suddenly, I felt sick to my stomach as I saw the other driver coming at us at a great speed, the car seemed out of control. I hoped for the best, but I feared for the worst.“Oh, my God. Do something, Blaze.” I screamed in fear.He seemed to have been shocked as well and my screams, snapped him out of that. Thankfully, we managed to avoid a catastrophic accident, I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw the other car speeding off into the distance. We were both shaken, but we were safe, and that was all that mattered. Blaze and I sat in silence for a few minutes, processing what had just happened. I couldn't help but think how lucky we were to have escaped unharmed.“Are you okay?” He asked, scrutinizing my body, quickly. “Yeah, I’m fin
BLAZE’S POVI watched as someone who was at Caramel’s back, hit her neck and got her unconscious. I was angry, but I decided to hold back to know where they were heading to. I couldn’t afford to mess this up because of my feelings.I followed them with my car and drove even through the bad roads. Why did they have to pick a place that is as bad and weird as this? Anyways, those who do abduct people and do bad things look for places like this to carry out their bad works. As soon as they got to their hideout, I called the cops as I could not get into the house without them, noticing me. Then I dialed Maya’s number.“Hello Blaze. He just called me.”“Good. I’m at the hide out, but you do not need to go. I have called the cops already, so you don’t have to worry about it.”“Oh, alright then. I await good news.”“Sure. Thank you so much for this. I have forgiven y
BLAZE’S POV“Since I started working for you, you have always been the reason behind my troubles. I have always been tortured and treated badly because of you.”“Caramel.”“But even with that, you have always saved me, come through for me and try to clean up the mess that was made. I think this is the fight one has to fight to be with a celebrity and I have made my decision, which is to stay, stand and fight with you. If others left you because of this or other reasons, I will stay. And, I will renew my contract with you and prove them wrong. I will let them know that you can win another championship and that I can be the best coach ever. For now, help me find my brother.” She said as a tear, strolled down her chin.My heart beamed with joy and was accompanied with a smile. I hugged her tight and felt so happy that she didn’t push me away this time. The joy I was feeling presently was enough for me to bash anyon
CARAMEL’S POVI rushed out of the cinema, pacing around and waiting for Blaze to come out. As soon as he came out, I opened his car door, but he grabbed my arm.“Caramel, be calm.” He said.“Don’t tell me to be calm! That boy has only me and it is my duty to always protect him.” I said as I withdrew my arm from him and got into his car.Tears ran down my cheek and I sniffed as I couldn’t bear the thought of Lucas killed. He wasn’t supposed to be abducted. What did he do to deserve this? How could I live with a burdened heart?Blaze got into the car and then started the car and we drove off.“Look Caramel. Let’s get to your place first to confirm if he was really abducted or not.” Blaze suggested. Then I nodded and hoped that it was a prank even when 70% of me felt it wasn’t. As soon as we got to my house, I opened the door and saw everywhere scattered. I fell to the gro
BLAZE'S POVThe next day, I woke up feeling better and in a good mood. I smiled at Caramel who was still deep in her sleep. She looked like so cute that I could kiss her until eternity.I decided to leave her room quietly as I wanted to make her a meal myself for a surprise. I didn't win the championship but I had won Caramel's heart and that was still a win for me. Her golden heart which was rare to find was now mine.I got out of the room and walked down the stairs. As I got to the kitchen, I was startled by Rosa whom I didn't notice was in the kitchen."I'm sorry I startled you, Mr. Nightingale." She apologized, with a slight smile."Oh, it's fine."As I disregarded that, I recalled that I had asked Rosa to leave when I needed to speak to Caramel. Certainly, she would have been worried about the outcome and could have wondered why we were no longer saying anything.
CARAMEL’S POVWas this a dream? Moments like this most times happen in movies. Could I be in one? There was no way a billionaire would look at me and tell me he loves me. I have also been harsh to him. There is no way Blaze Nightingale will tell me he loves me.“Please drop the act.” I said as I disengaged from him. Then I looked into his eyes with sadness. “I know you are just trying to make me not to think about the fact that I am not competent enough, but that can’t work. If you feel you are wasting your money by paying me even when I didn’t help you bag the championship, you are free to withhold my payment.” I said, with pain and then dragged my luggage, heading for the door. But then, Blaze grabbed my arm and held my face as he locked eyes with me. In his eyes, I could see sincerity, innocence, love, care and desire.“Allow yourself to feel the love you have for me, because the love I have for you can not be
BLAZE’S POVI watched as part of the crowd cheered for my opponent as he jumped up in victory. My racket fell from my hand and I felt dejected.Earlier on, I had watched as his girlfriend had given him a kiss and encouraged him with love. All through, I couldn’t help but feel guilty for making Caramel go through a lot and her attitude towards me and I found myself missing every ball thrown at me because I was either lost in thought or I was too slow to catch it after snapping out of my thoughts.Suddenly, I remembered Caramel. She wasn’t around here. Could she have ran off feeling bad that I had failed and lost? I left the tennis court and ran out but was swamped by reporters.“Mr. Nightingale, we heard of how you were not fully focused at the tennis court, are you alright?” One of them threw a question at me.“Yes I am.” I answered, trying to get out of the crowd.“Some allegations are made against
BLAZE’S POVIt was a new day and the D-day that I had been waiting for a long time. I was going to give today my best and ensure that I make my mom proud wherever she was. As soon as I was done having my bath, I went to the sitting room, waiting for Caramel to be done.I expected that she was going to take a longer time than I expected as I knew women do take time in getting prepared for an outing but she came out in about two minutes.I was stunned at her beauty and her preparedness was visible. In the last few days, I had spent my time thinking about how much I had offended her and endangered her life. If only she could give me another chance to make things right.Yeah, today was the D-day and the day I have been on my toes for a while but even as it was here, I wasn’t feeling elated. I had mixed feelings and I wished Caramel would hug me and tell me encouraging words. She was the one I cherished after my mother and my mother never failed to
CARAMEL’S POVNow, it was clear to me that having any form of close relationship with Blaze would only endanger me and my brother still needed me more than anything in this world. I also needed to achieve my dreams before giving up the ghost.“Hey Caramel. You have been discharged. Let’s go back.” Paul said, with a smile on his face.I smiled back at him and got down from the bed.“Alright, I am ready to go.”“I’m glad you are much better. You really need to cut yourself some slack at times, okay?”“Sure, I will. And I will be more careful, next time. I bet they would have done more games without me.”“Come on, no one is as heartless as you might think right now. They all took five.” Paul smiled and ruffled my hair.“Wow. I feel loved.”Paul and I took a cab back to the beach and everyone was dismissed to have a long nap before we started again
BLAZE’S POV“Caramel! Caramel, wake up!” I called out her name and shook her body in anxiety but she wasn’t moving. Then I turned to Monica.“What the hell did you do that for!” I raised my voice at her.I could tell she was startled as she covered her mouth with her hands, looking shocked at Caramel who wasn’t moving an inch.“If something happens to her, just have it in mind that you’ll be going to jail.” I threatened her, with anger. Then I touched her neck to be sure if she was still breathing or not and to my relief, she was still breathing. Immediately, I carried her back to the beach and those who had given up saw me from afar and ran towards me.“What happened to her?” Paul asked, looking alarmed.“She tripped and fell hard but it seems she passed out.” I replied as I handed her over to him.I called the ambulance as fast as I could and,
