No matter how much Shaun called after me, I did not look back.

After I got to the hospital and spoke with the doctor about my mother’s condition, he sighed in concern. “Your mother’s illness is quite rare. We’ve done our best.

“If she doesn’t wake up this year, there’s a good chance that…”

I fell silent.
