Maria who was rejected like that did not immediately give up, she even immediately ran to chase the man named Alvin.

“Stop, Alvin Knet!” Maria exclaimed with a gasp. “Isn’t it your job to protect weak people?”

But unfortunately, instead of the man being willing to stop, with a cold gaze the man walked faster than Maria thought. And of course because of Maria’s attitude chasing Alvin, all of Alvin’s friends thought that Maria was the woman who had been treated badly by Alvin.

Feeling annoyed and Maria had no other choice, both of her hands clenched then she shouted until her throat hurt. “Alvin Barnet, do I have to call you that so you can stop?!”

And sure enough, Alvin immediately stopped his steps perfectly. Both of Alvin’s hands clenched then he turned his body perfectly. Maria felt that this was her chance to explain everything to Alvin.

Alvin narrowed his eyes, trying to penetrate Maria’s eyes. He really hated being called by that name because of course that name was the name Alvin hated the most.

“Don’t play around with me, Miss. Haven’t you had dealings with me before?”

Alvin’s jaw tightened, making Maria’s body start to tremble. Maria clenched her fists, her eyes now looking blank. No, she couldn’t give up. She had to bring this man home no matter what, because she didn’t want the Barnet family to chop her up knowing the fact that Miller was currently dying because of her actions.

Maria immediately knelt in front of Alvin, with a feeling of resignation, she continued to beg the man to be able to give her the best chance after this.

“I beg you, my life is in your hands.”

Alvin, who was still upset, immediately pulled Maria’s collar, and that was where Alvin’s eyes widened when he saw the cut scar on Maria’s neck.

It was true that Alvin knew that this woman was the fiancée of his twin brother named Miller Barnet, but Alvin did not expect that this woman had a mark that was very familiar to him.

Maria tried to cover her wound, but Alvin roughly tore Maria’s collar, leaving Maria’s neck exposed.

“Tell me where you got that wound!” Alvin shouted.

Swallowing hard, Maria finally answered. “When I was little, I helped a stupid kid who almost died because he stole bread, and I got this wound.”

Alvin’s two fists that were initially clenched immediately relaxed, his eyes now wide open as he stared at Maria.

Maria tried to approach Alvin with full of hope because Alvin was the only one who could help her now.

“Can you help me?”

“I can’t be your bodyguard.” Alvin still refused Maria’s offer.

“If you don’t want to be my bodyguard, then can you cooperate with me?” Maria asked. Alvin was silent and he didn’t react at all. “I’ll give you wages tens of times more than what you get now, I promise!”

“Why should I do that?” Alvin asked, looking reluctant.

“Because I know your past and your mother. You were both abandoned by the Barnet family and lived in misery, and I also know that in your heart there is a deep grudge against the Barnet family.” Maria felt that this was a good opportunity for her to influence Alvin. “If you cooperate with me then I will help you to take your rights that have been claimed by Miller, you will get what you have never had before, Alvin. Wealth, respect and becoming the Young Master of the Barnet family. You can even avenge your mother, right?”

Alvin’s jaw tightened, he didn’t even answer Maria’s offer at all.

“I thought you were married.” Alvin finally said.

“We’re getting married next week.” Maria immediately gave a quick answer. “And of course that’s not the marriage I want.”

“If you are reluctant, can’t you just refuse, Miss?”

“I can’t.” Maria wanted to cry now, if Alvin knew how much she had suffered living in the Barnet family home, surely Alvin would understand her feelings. Even death would be much more pleasant than living there.

“What do you want?”

“Be Miller and marry me on our wedding day.” Alvin immediately turned his head with a shocked look. “I beg you, I promise I will do anything for you as long as you are willing to pretend to be Miller until he recovers.”

Alvin grinned again, then he immediately pulled Maria’s long hair. Maria who was in pain could not help but stand up so that Alvin’s pulling would not hurt her.

“What did you do to Miller that you made me disguise myself as him in front of the Barnet family?”

Maria didn’t answer right away, she seemed to stutter at the question. A question that she could never have imagined, and Maria was really scared to death.

“Tell me!” Alvin snapped.

“Miller had a serious accident that resulted in him being critical, he is currently in a hospital. While Mrs. Barnet is currently not well, her heart condition is not well. If I tell Mrs. Barnet that Miller is comatose, something bad will definitely happen to the Barnet family. So…” Maria stopped, her body shaking violently, she was really scared by Alvin's cold gaze. “So help me, Alvin, I beg you.”

Alvin clicked his tongue, he didn't even care about Maria's pleas. The man just walked away, getting into the car until Maria held the car door with her hand.

It hurt, of course! How could it not, Maria felt her fingers almost crushed from holding Alvin’s car door.

“Alvin, I beg you. Give me a chance. I have no one to help me.”

“Who cares, isn’t that your business?” Alvin said coldly.

Alvin immediately left after he pushed Maria’s body until she fell. But Maria who was still stubborn was trying to chase Alvin’s car with her car.

Maria tried to walk along the road, there was a T-junction and an intersection ahead, Maria was really confused about where Alvin had gone, the only thing she could hold was Alvin’s car license plate.

Armed with instinct, Maria rushed to take a right turn, Maria hoped that the decision she would take was the right one.

Until finally Maria saw in a rather narrow district. The entire skyscraper was pitch black, there were several cars lined up together with a car that Maria knew was Alvin’s car plate.

With a big smile, Maria rushed to speed up her vehicle, and how shocked she was when she found out that Alvin was surrounded by many people and there was a car on the other side of Maria’s car whose lights were brightly lit.

Will Alvin be killed by someone?

Maria could see the men pointing guns, while Alvin continued to fight with other people, the fight was really a terrible fight. Maria panicked even more when she saw one of the people there as if giving a signal to crash and shoot Alvin. With panic, Maria really couldn’t think long, she closed her eyes and started to step on the gas pedal of her car, crashing into the people who were about to shoot Alvin, then accelerated her car and crashed into the car opposite her.

The two cars collided quite hard, both cars bounced and hit the sides of the building, the driver in the car that Maria hit was also bounced and died on the spot. While Maria did not get out of the car at all until her spinning tires began to slow down.

Alvin who saw that panicked, he rushed to Maria’s car and wanted to see Maria’s condition.

However, Maria appeared from another direction with her head bleeding profusely. Maria smiled while staggering towards Alvin, then she said, “Can you help me, Alvin?”

And after that her consciousness disappeared, Maria collapsed in Alvin’s arms.
